My old cottage/shed had seen better days and was leaking pretty bad, black mold was getting on everything. Once my bride saw the inside of it she said it’s time for a new one! So I borrowed a small excavator and squeezed the old one into a twenty yard dumpster. I then ordered a new one which took about 6 weeks to get. It’s 12’x24’ I’m sorry about the green but we wanted to have it match the house! Needless to say I’m pretty happy and Some of my horses will be too!

Well, I am pumped. The very dependable Raider10 went down late this summer and has a small hole in the edge of the piston. I think that all three piston rings lined up on a scratch in the piston bore and melted the pioston i looked around on CL and a wheel Horse described as a 12 Horsepower 1967 wheel horse for $250 that "runs well and mows" made me go on a road trip.. When it did not run or even spark, i expressed my disgust with travelling over a hundred miles for a 12 HP kohler that was actually a 10HP and being ready to cut my losses. The seller cut the price to $150 and stated that he would also furnish and install a coil so the 1257 [which was actually a 1056] would run. I took a chance just because the engine had decent compression and I could trade parts around. Once I went back with the truck to pick it up, we had to air up the tires, but he did actually keep his word and furnish a coil. I got the 1056 home and made the following repairs and adjustments. i returned the coil to Auto Zone because the receipt was in the box. Now my net cost for this tractor was $107.00. The battery was charged with a .75 amp charger and actually came back to life. It was hooked up wrong by the PO, so I corrected that. After swapping out the coil and condenser from the raider10, it started and ran very well. It starts instantly even in very cold weather. The tie rods were horrible . The mower deck was not installed correctly and needed some TLC on the drive belt idler linkage. The blade towers are cast iron and nice and quiet and the pulleys are in good shape, so there is that as a positive. Still lots of stuff to work on, but the big stuff is done. i am counting my blessings on this one

when I was at the big show I started to fall in love with the short frame tractors of the 60’s. Since it takes a long time for me to decide what I want, at the show every time I was ready to part with my funds on a short frame tractor it was already sold and getting loaded on a small blue pickup truck. So for the last couple of months I had my eyes open for one local. This nice 875 came up for sale not to far away and by the time I decided that was the one it was gone. Well it turns out it showed up on Christmas Day. My wife and youngest daughter bought it out from under me. What a great surprise. It turns out my kids actually do listen to me there is hope in this world yet. So now my dilemma is what to do with this little machine, I just love taking them apart stripping them down and painting them, bringing them back to show room quality and giving them a well deserved rest. But I also like the original patina and some minor modifications. I leaning toward replacing all the bushings and bearings new seals and belts. And putting new shoes on here, I want to go as big as I can 26x12.00-12 with new 12in wheels I think they will fit with out any modifications. And maybe a stack or running the exhaust out under the bottom and out the back of the tractor.

I was at a friends of my wife's her husband came home with a load of bent 10 gage trailer boxes. I ask about buying one he said that if I helped him to unload them he would give me one. He was also a Wheel Horse owner, had a C-160 auto. The 10 gage box is 3' x 5' with 6" sides. I took it home and built this: I welded a 3/4"x3/4"x 1/8" angle to the top of the sides, the front is a 6" Jr. I beam. The frame is 1"x1"x 1/8" angle. The axle support is 2" channel with 3/4" x3/4" x 1/8" angle bracing. It's heavy don't know how much it weights.

I have not had my C160 very long. When I brought it home it had the 36” RD deck on it but I am going to use this machine for ploughing and tilling. I removed the deck (that was simple!!) then figured out how to attach the tiller. The previous owner didn’t have a belt for it.... looked in my shed..... had B140, B142, B156...... no B139!!!!! That figures..... I installed the B140 just to see it turn, which it did, but it’s too long..... off to find one!!!

They are preserving their herd for future generations to enjoy. Every year or so we hear about a mega auction somewhere that is liquidating an astounding collection of and we all get excited to hear it. As long as they aren't being sent to the crusher I'm glad they are being preserved.

Sorry BC, can't help you here, my security system consists of a .44 Blackhawk with a backup of a .357 Ruger and a .45 Colt 1911 and a 9mm Bersa. Oh and a concealed carry permit in my back pocket with a 2nd amendment clause...just in case.....

Thanks guys , woke up this morning with aches and pains so I knew I was fine. Don't feel a day over 71 .

So... I was looking at CL for the next thing I "really need" ... lol and saw an ad for weights. they were Craftsman and listed as fitting 8" 10" 12" wheels. I got to thinking, I have a set of those, maybe they will fit in front. sure enough. A little wide, but we'll see I really wanted to put them on my plow tractor, with this machine, all I have to do is lift the blower slightly to gain traction with the fronts but the plow machine (C-175) has a "loader" front end with heavy duty spindles and bigger wheel bearings and it won't fit

Nice tractor! I wonder who around here has a small blue pickup, buying up all the short frames?

About ten years ago we had a guy come to work and teach us about chainsaw safety and felling trees. My dad bought me my first saw when I was 13-14 years old ( Echo 280E which I still have 35 years later) I have been clearing land with chainsaws, bulldozers, excavators, etc since I was 16 so I thought what could this guy teach me that I don’t already know? Boy was I wrong. Turns out a lot. One simple thing was not to take more than two steps without clicking on the chain brake. Very simple, roll your wrist forward and click it’s on. Once I got used to this I realized how much safer it is. Now I do it without really thinking about it.

A little morning update, I slept rather well even with an aching head and left shoulder, woke up to the shoulder throbbing but manageable and I'm a hat wearer and the knot on my noggin says otherwise, so I made it out in the rain this morning to take few more pictures of the incident area...as you'll see that tree was growing into that lean and couple of fence posts are what ultimately saved me, as well as how bad the Virginia Creeper, Honeysuckle, Ivy and wild grape vines are on the trees I've been slowly working on since early spring, now waiting on the doctor office to call me back for an appointment to check me over and get an X-ray if needed.

That is sooooo Koooool! Since they have been so involve in this I think it is fitting that they have a lot of input in the finishing touches too. You may have to point them in the correct direction with subtle hints and showing them tractors with what you are thinking of, but it will be neat to keep them involved. As for that guy in the blue truck, what can I tell you, @pullstart has a family that needed wheels!

I honestly thought the old one looked pretty good until I saw the new one. Wow! Nice shed! I’m just a little bit jealous with horse envy!

It it was virtually brand new at the show, somewhere around 6,000 miles on it. I’m pushing 24,000 now... In case you didn’t see the “full” pictures, here is the final load, and proof they went back together! Thanks again for the help with Rylee’s Commando!

Very nice! Mine is 10x20..... wish I had that extra room! When they delivered mine, it was on a purpose-built trailer that the guy backed in to place, then used a control box to put it exactly where I wanted it... it even had a “sideways” capability that allowed him to jog it an inch or so sideways to square it up..... neatest thing to watch! He didn’t have to touch it!

Looks really nice. I was thinking like dell's was, I thought the old look pretty good and then I seen the new one.

From just my own perspective, I’d rather see someone protect or preserve these little tractors rather than letting them rot down. Take the Charlottesville auction for example. Lots of tractors of all makes, most stored inside and took minimal effort to get them going. If the owner hadn’t taken an interest in these machines, how many might have been scrapped? I’m glad he had an interest and preserved them for us! Just my way of looking at it!

To polarize a generator you apply battery voltage to the A terminal on the genny. That is what happens when you go to start an S/G unit. Automatic polarizing if you will.

@ebinmaine, Eric here's a couple more of that stubborn cherry tree with the huge vine that growing on the bark looks like its own limbs...wife says I'm not allowed to cut anymore trees this year I gave in and agreed.

We have really invested a lot of thoughts in this one. I cant help it, I got to through my two cents in. Try shifting your @$$ from one side of the seat to the other. If your fat like me it greatly improves traction. No LS required.

Don't have any experience with any security systems, however some years back Grandpa was having trouble with things growing legs and walking away out at the farm. He came up with a good idea, he bought a few of those motion activated game cameras and placed them in several spots on the property (a couple at the gates, one at each entrance to the barn and the shop). They capture a pretty clear picture of anything that comes in front of them and save it to an internal memory card for later viewing on your computer or smartphone. We placed the ones at the gates to get a clear shot of any vehicle that passes through them, the license plate of said vehicle, and anyone who gets out to open or close the gate. We have since caught two or three of the "prominent" citizens of the area being in there without our permission, you should see the looks on their faces when we confront them at the feed store or other places about it...they always want to deny it but the look on their face when we show them a printed picture of themselves or their vehicle is priceless. This has worked so well I'm strongly considering setting up a couple at the shop, never have had any trouble with things over there but you just never know

Update: Big chunks of plastic should NOT be in a newly cleaned fuel tank! We worked on this tractor a little bit at a time. And I may not have kept a close enough eye on the kids. Replaced fuel lines, carb clean, plugs ect... turns out that the problem is that I pulled the gas tank filter (again) and right then I knew what the problem was. I have young kids! Hahaha Found lots of these Lego parts and other junk. Conclusion for tonight is after working through that, after getting everything back together (I think) it ran flawlessly for 30 minutes! Cory

alright so i posted up in the implement section that i picked up a GT-14 tiller the other day for cheap of CL. I've always wanted to build a cat 0 3 point hitch for my 1054 and this seemed like a good excuse to finally get it finished. I plan to build this whole thing from scratch and without doing any permanent modifications to the sheet on my 1054. I have already gotten some .5 x 2 bar stock for my lower links and the bearings should be here today for those. right now my biggest issue is how to get a top link mounted to this tractor. For those who know the 1054 they know there isn't anything but sheet metal above and around the rear end so i need to come up with some sort of bracket to mount the top link off from. I have been playing around with ideas in my head and have settled on this one based on fit in the limited space i have. the lower mount is similar to the GT14 setup but from there it needs to be pretty specific to the 1054. Since there is really nothing to bolt the top link to i used the lower bracket and extended it up to make some towers with a platform that extends out just under the tool box for the top link. i then added gussests from just below the top link down to the existing lift hitch for added support. as for lift, i plan to keep the lift hitch in the rear and make a "T" bar that fits in there with links attached to lift with. So as of now there is no down force, just lifting. as for right now i feel pretty good about the vertical forces of lifting and weight, however, should i be worried about the horizonal forces when pulling an attachment? there is a single bolt on the top of the transmission that i could potentially tie in to here are some pictures of the tiller sitting behind the tractor, i plan to just mount a small engine on the tiller so i don't have to worry about running a huge belt all the way from the engine PTO I was hoping to get to the bracket this weekend but its going to be a busy one so we'll see. maybe sunday afternoon. hope to at least get all my materials together by then Justin

When I saw Denny Clarke put together his lawn Ranger for his grandkids I told him right away I would like him to put one together for me. He said since his grandkids are really young anyway he could let go of the first one he built and we worked out a deal so I ended up with it. We modified the pulleys so it’s faster in high range and low range. That actually makes it more useful In low range for the little kids to drive it but of course the seven-year-old couldn’t stand driving it that slow so we ended up putting it in high range first gear at about half throttle. He still wanted to go faster but I thought that was fast enough. It is an unbelievably nice little tractor. I added fluid to the rear tires because I actually use it alot myself to do work. After I did that it felt even lighter on the front end so I built a front bumper out of some bar scraps I had. It added about 25 pounds. Terry was nice enough to make me a 3/4 scale set of Lawn Ranger letters for the bumper. From the angle in the picture the lawn Ranger letters actually look the same size as the one on the belt guard but it is actually smaller.

Well I stayed after work today to machine some of the pieces. Finally got home and started to fit everything. So far there has only been on one minor issue. The top link supports that run down to the hitch won't be able to be welded at the top as I had planned. As it sits, there is no way to remove Pinot install the pin needed to hold those up. I plan to just bolt them to the bottom of the top link mount to solve that issue. Hope to get that done and figured out tomorrow as well d get the lower links built As for the software I use, I don't think it's terribly difficult but I've been using it for years. Its called Rhino and is really more of a product design software (I just graduated with a degree in industrial design) honestly if I had the access solid works would be my first choice Here are some progress pictures
