6 pointsI think I finally have all of my leaks fixed and my PTO adjusted so I got a load of rock and did some spreading over some muddy patches in the driveway. I’m really surprised how well this thing pushes and lifts when scooping rock from the pile. What I thought would be nothing more than a toy is actually a pretty good little worker.

4 pointsSo I have had several of the more rounded hood speedex tractors. They are fun, but I have always wanted one of the more squared hood speedex tractors. Well I found one. It came with a 13hp Honda engine on it. But I did get a bunch of extra parts and two 11hp Briggs engines from other speedex tractors. So I can make it original. The best part is the snow blade. I have looked for one of these for along time, they are the coolest thing to me. Because with another bracket you remove the blade and flip it upside down and then attach it to the back for a grader blade. This blade is only 40in and not the 44. But I'm OK with that, being the widest part of the wheel base is only 31 1/4 wide at the rear. So here it is and I will be working g in this for a winter project. The other tractor in pic is what's left of a 1968 speedex S-17. But there is some good parts there. Also the last pic is a photo of a advertisement for the blade, so you can see what I'm talking about with flipping it.

4 pointsI'm going to post an update. John and I have gone to a couple of Iowa vs Northwestern games, when they play in Evanston every other year. Well, today...the Hawkeyes and the Wildcats were playing in Iowa. I just had to call him and see if he was watching the game and how he is doing. They are getting him up to walk around...with a walker...and he can do that by the sound of it. He is making progress, but it is very slow. That is good news, but I wish I had better.

4 pointsGet yourself a 12 Volt test light. Unhook you negative cable and attach the test light between the negative post and the cable. If there is a draw the test light will glow. Unplug things one at a time like your regulator, lights, cig lighter if there ect. When you unplug the source of your draw the light will go out.

3 pointsUpdate, got to work on 1054 a little today. Cut off right side stop. As expected made right turn sharper. About the same as the left. Did not get to work on fan gear nor take off left stop. Happy Veterans Day fellow Soldier's. 🏅

3 pointsThat's my Elmer Fudd hat keeps my ears good and warm The bench is 92" long by 31"wide and 41" tall. The shelf below it is 20" off the floor. Just stood back and realized I screwed up though...had planned on one solid piece of OSB for the shelf...but I put the top on and now can't get one piece in there...oh well I can piece it together. It's like I told my ex wife's grandpa while he was helping me this morning...we're building a workbench not a piano

3 pointsI just love when a plan comes together...still have to put the top on and cover the shelf. Bought a generator last night too for more power than just enough to run my lights, got one big enough to run my whole RV in the event of a power outage too, so it was a win win

3 pointsJim, Often the reason to own something is: because I don't already have one. I think that's the case here. I have several tools for that very reason, and will most likely add more in the future! DB

3 pointsMy vote is for the Carlisle All Trails for best all around traction ( and they are dang cool ). Mine are 23/10.5's. The ags are 23/10.5's on 8.5" wide rims.

2 pointsTo buy it just to put it out of it's misery. Browsed our local version of craigslist, when I stumbled upon this. Guess this is the human analog to a cup of Coffey in the keyboard. Something is shorted out for sure! Note the elegant support for the exhaust. Nice touch. Note the Cupholder?

2 pointshttp://www.upledger.org/what-we-do/ptsd-relief.php There are still healers among us. Don't ask them to explain themselves. Don't throw a micrometer on them to check for clearance. Just find them in your area. They are there. My deepest appreciation to the vets that do their level best in these interviews to put into words what cannot be put into words.

2 pointsWelcome to the 418-C club. They are tough, fast, stout little tractors and since they are one year only machines, they are pretty scarce. I love the fact that they have a simpler electrical system and beefed up wear point spots like the front axle spindles. My son bought this one about a year ago and it needed some work to straighten out PO problems. However, mechanically we have it pretty well squared away now and have had the opportunity to use it all summer and fall—Great Tractor! My son loves how fast it is hence his giving it the name “JackRabbit”. We are hoping to refurbish it this winter and have it looking really sharp next spring. I think that you got a good deal on your machine. It looks to have been well cared for and should continue to serve you well. It it would be really interesting to park one of these directly beside a 418-A model to compare and contrast. 🤔

2 pointsThey will fit but they may "bulge" a bit at the sidewalls I put (NanKang)10.50s on my dad's Cub with the 7.5" wide wheels here's what they look like...

2 pointsLike the ag's but, don't need 'em much nowadays. Turfs and chains work well when pushing wet white cold junque. Do use ag's on my Allis. Always set up with a mid mount grader. http://www.millertire.com/categories/lawn-garden-tires/

2 pointsI have a new catalog from the last year they put them out. The house across the road from my mothers was a kit sold by Sears & Roebuck. I remember a chicken house (probably 10'x20') in town that my dad said came from Sears. And I remember my parents saying the most popular use for the catalog was in the outhouse.....
-
2 pointsI am still in shock that the reality of a bankrupt Sears is actually happening. I, too, remember the catalogs. My favorite memory of Sears is Dad's 1974 SS16 garden tractor!
