Well I went out to the Greencastle Airport today and spent the $75 to take a fifteen minute ride and it was worth every penny. Amazing plane for the 1920's! The ten passengers and two up front (pilot and co-pilot) flew around Greencastle . I was on the sixth flight of the day around 2 PM. There were 199 of these Ford TriMotors , (also known as the Tin Goose) made and only 18 survive with just 8 having FAA air worthiness certificates ! So not many chances left to fly in one of these so I said lets go! I sat behind the pilot up front . The take off was a bit loud but I have to say the landing was the smoothest I ever had in an airplane of any size. If one of these comes to your town I highly recommend taking a flight in this airplane! A thrill a minute! Here is more information about the Ford Tri-Motor passenger airplane. Photos to follow.

Great September Day in Greencastle, Indiana today! Airport Appreciation Days in Greencastle, Indiana today. A 1920's Ford Tri-Motor plane is flying over the town with people taking rides for $75 each! Flew over the Wheel Horses I had out running the engines and preparing for winter several times already this am! Also had a film crew flying a drone over the DePauw University 1884 McKim Observatory located across from my front yard! Watch Video of the Ford Tri-Motor flying thaty you get to hear that famous motor sound! 015.MOV

I wanted to share with you Wheel Horse fans my latest off road upgrades I’ve done to my C-81 while trying to not butcher the original tractor. I built a bumper with a winch for the front and a rear rack too. I also made a video about it. https://youtu.be/YT_SguWXuN4

I might beg to differ Newone... I have known these folks for several years now and all the owner has ever done for me is to send wafting fumes of steaks grilling at a campground and doesn't share. He did offer me a beer once and even drinks my brand but it was warm. Had another incedent at a campground once where all he did was run a noisy monster genny all night. Can't never get him to come to our plow day either. Wife has been known to be crabby!

Had some air moving over my primary winter duty, plow machine today too.

Sometimes Mike—those are the best kind because you aren’t afraid to really use them!!! As stated above, I think this is a great thread. Our lawn was really long today and I was VERY THANKFUL to have the bagger on JackRabbit! I started cutting with it until Caleb came outside then he took over with that machine and I moved to another. it is gonna be great to have this setup for leaf collection in about a month!

Got out Comanche to haul some burnable junk back to the fire pit... Judge wanted some seat time and his big brother was at The Brewers/Tigers game so I obliged! That is a really fun little tractor for sure.

I store them everywhere. In my basement, two sheds, garage and inclosed trailer. I'm pretty much out of room though. Which is why I'm really only interested in oddball implements and Wheel Horse signage and memorabilia. I have to store all these!

Had some quality time with my two younger sons this afternoon which included a bon fire for a couple of hours and Comanche was used to haul stuff back and forth from the house out to the pit! Great little machine and fun time with my little buddies! They were foot racing each other on the trail thru the woods while I sat in the trailer with the timer! I know—I probably should’ve been running with them...

Finally got to start my weekend at 1PM today. What a better way to start the weekend than Horse wrangling with a friend. Jim & I spent the afternoon picking up a couple additions to his collection.

My plan for this morning was to just get a little seat time grinding up leaves in the yard, filled the gas talk and noticed a small drip coming from the fuel hose under the engine. Installed a new fuel line and finally got out on the yard.

Yep, show tractors and the workers! It’s fun seeing the capabilities and duties of the worker machines. It’s also fun to see the work that the owners have done on the show machines. Most of my stuff is grubby! lol Maybe one day I’m gonna build a nice one!

Working on the 1964 Wheel Horse 854 this am to get the drive belt clutching improved. It has a squeak when clutching that does not belong there!

Thanks Cleat, that tired old 5091 (on left in my first pic) looked like this when I got it- Inside was just as bad, there were a multitude of reassembly errors by the previous owner as well. First run today of the replacement Tranny was good......got to go out again and again testing it...... oh the the things we have to endure ...seat time.!

Finally got a chance to do some reassembly on the rj. I pulled the wheels just after this pic, blended a little red into the patina and cleared it. Can't wait to play with it again. Slow, but sure!

😂😂😂. Good stuff — Jim oh yes I would share some steak with you!! As for the barley pop what can I say I was out of ice and as for the generator I don’t own a 40kw diesel generator! I might be able to make it to plow day we will see it depends if I get time to get my engine swap done in my 89 square body suburban I’m putting in a 2003 6.0 Ls engine- I would like to have it done and stretch her legs over to cheeseland with some plow tractors behind it and as for the wife I’m not sure it she will read this so I will have to disagree! She says Hi by the way. Jim if you scratch your screen you might be able to smell these!!

Thanks Ritchie... lots of usually PO weirdness and and stuff going on with these girls but we'll get that ironed out and plenty of in another thread. All in all some nice survivors tho. Richard standby for a battery of questions as I am finding out quickly I know sasquat about these tractors!

Decided it was time to insulate the floor of the addition before winter gets here. Used rock wool insulation, so much nicer to work with than fiberglass. Holds its shape and thickness much better.

good job, adapting the horse to your needs, good choice on the square tube and welding, more than enhances its working ability. having cleared a few lots , I wish I had your horse there as the power point to get things done. that winch is a great stand off puller, thank you for the pictures/ video , pete

I'm thinking the electrical snafu is sucking enough current to drop the system voltage to the point the ignition system is compromised causing the engine to bog down. I had an old Chevy that developed a short in the tiny tiny brake light switch. This happened at night. I'm driving along and hit the brakes. Not only did my headlights go out, but the entire electrical system shut down. Engine shut off -everything. As soon as I let off the brake everything came back on and I was able to restart the engine.

Them rears look pretty rad Lane whats the story on them? I think those are causing your clutch problem ...I just best come get them.

Yes, once the pulley is off the shaft will drop out. Put a 1-1/8 wrench on the shaft hex underneath while holding the pulley with a strap wrench or wrapping an old belt around it and you might be able to turn the pulley on the shaft breaking it free. Resist the urge to pry up on the pulley as that will just bend it. Your does not look rusty so it should come off. Make sure you have the spacer (#27 in the parts diagram) between the cup and the bearing. There might be a small 'O' ring under the pulley on the shaft that you will need to slide up and off for the shaft to easily slide out. I think this ring is just used to keep the spindle together during assembly at the factory so no big deal if it breaks. Make sure to use never seize or at least grease on the shaft and it will come apart better next time. Cleat
