I've been talking to the owner of this wheelhorse for about 3 weeks in an attempt to reach a good agreement for both of us. Well, this morning, he called and said, Come and get it. So, I did. The wife and I went for a 3 hour ride, to and from. The new to me C120 horse is home.

First, I want to thank all of you guys for the Birthday wishes. You all made my day, and I am truly humbled. I may have a few Navy pictures floating around, but I will have to scan them...I was much thinner then for sure. The pictures some of you have added are full of great memories...thanks for that. It was a Rock & Rye day, and I will tell you this...you can't put 69 candles on a burrito (my favorite easy meal). Thanks again guys...this place is special.

@casperhorse to The safety switch "bypass" deal was discussed a week ago and it has been determined that no-one on this forum would pass out information on how to "bypass" safety switches. They are there for a reason.

Too wet to mow still very humid and the mosquitoes are terrible so working in the shop with the AC on. Pulling the engine on a C-175 as she had an oil leak. i do not mind seeps and drips but this one was a bit much and it was the drain. The elbow cannot make a complete turn as the isolation mount is in the way. So will fix that and do away with the shaker mount. Got a 417/8 mojnting plate form AtoZ. Did this to another C175. Cheaper than buying new rubber mounts or coming up with some other substitute.

i just installed a FACET # 60304 pump from AIRCRAFT SPRUCE (they have the best prices - $36.) on my Case 4016 Onan engine. It only has a max PSI of 2 lbs, so no regulator or return lines necessary. I also ordered a $5. FACET filter that screws into the inlet port of the pump, which makes for a nice clean installation. Works GREAT! Even though the system was completely 'dry' after installing the pump and all new gas lines, it started right up. Don't forget to include a 3 amp fuse to protect the pump

That model uses a Ross steering box - unless you want to break it, do not use a hammer on the shaft - it can shatter either the worm gear or the housing. You'll need to use a bearing splitter and beam puller, if you don't have one most auto parts stores will loan them for free as long as it's returned in one piece. If you work on things like this, or gears, transmissions and the like - a bearing splitter kit is a great investment. I use the OTC kit like this and it works on nearly anything - including those pesky rear hubs. https://www.otctools.com/products/7-ton-bar-type-pullerbearing-separator-puller-set Sarge

Picked this tractor up at auction yesterday. It has a Kohler motor and it is pretty much all there. Just wondering what it's worth and what year it is. Model is 1-4831 and serial # 395060 New to this site thanks.

I did not need this at all but it was just up the road and cheap. Runs really well and deck is in excellent condition rust wise. Bearings are a little loud but I have already pulled the spindles for rebuild. I will take them into work tomorrow and disassemble and bead blast them. Blower was hard to turn but I lubed the chain and it now turns easy. I will install a new chain. Sprockets all look good. Tractor runs good, all indicator lights work, hydro works good. Steering is loose but I will fix that up. Tires seem to hold air but time will tell. This is an ugly duckling but should clean up nice. Cleat

A battery charger electro solution, and time will take care of a lot of it. A lot of the paint comes off as well. Poly brush type wheels work better for me than steel wire wheels to remove the remaining paint,

Ouch, Bob, my discs are just compressed pinching the nerves...snow removal aye? How's about dad at 80 on the Kioti with my JD conversion front 4 way hydraulic blade...or using his 1450 Cub Cadet...or 1 of my 520s on plow duty...or the anniversary 520 on blower duty...

It should handle it, but remember the 516h and 518h didn't have the good Eaton 1100 but rather the lesser Eaton 700 transaxle, as long as the property is relatively flat and you keep the engine RPMs up, I see NO problems, Jeff.

Also, I see you're fairly new here. Welcome to redsquare! That little 8 horse Kohler is arguably one of the best engines ever made by anybody anywhere. Pound-for-pound it's hard to beat the torque that those things put out for the size that they are. They also use very very little fuel. It's a great little tractor that you could keep and run and work and be very happy with it.

M/N 1-4831 is a 1968 Commando 8 4 speed with a Kohler K-181S-30108D engine. One tough little tractor with the great 7 slot grill. Here's mine.

Welded up a broke deck mount on the Missus's vertical and tried to figure out why an oem belt does not fit as should. Came to the conclusion that manuals need more pictures!

Nice tractor you have there. Be very careful, these things tend to multiply like rabbits. Which is why many of us are here trying to deal with these situations πŸ˜œπŸ˜œπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

That is how I handled a ground hog this summer. I used a garage exhaust hose since he had dug such a large hole. I could have used a car but since the Wheel Horses have no emissions I figured they would be more deadly. Main thing is.......No more ground hog. I tried the smoke bombs but they did not work. Cleat

Haha that is a great idea! I just put some smoke bombs in the tunnels though.

The last 3 decks I have torn down have been a pleasure in that the pulleys just slid off after the nut was removed (including these 3). I have had to resort to heat and/ or cutting on other decks however. If I need to heat, I use either MAPP gas or acetylene, Propane will not be hot enough. Wrap an old belt around the pulley and clamp vice grips on the belt to form a strap. If you heat the pulley too much and melt the belt it does not matter because it was and old belt anyways. Heat the center of the pulley until it starts to get a little red then grab the vice grips on the belt on the pulley and also reach under and grab the blade (keep blades on until you are done this). If the heating was successful, the pulley should begin to turn on the shaft. Continue to turn and pull until pulley comes off. Upper bearing will likely be no good at this point but everything else should be. Cleat
