14 pointsMy kids ages 2 and 4 obviously have a love for these tractors like we all do. So I started drivers training with them a couple weeks ago started out in 1st and low gear low idle. They did pretty good so today we moved up to 1st and high gear low idle and i think this is a good pace for them to learn at i can comfortably walk beside them and help steer if needed, but they are getting good. It teaches them to focus, pay attention and beacuse we only use the loader tractor to take turns.

11 pointsThere was a little rain as Chris and I arrived Thursday afternoon. Cleared up and the rest of the weekend was fine. These photo's of our pitch. Chris in Charge. The ground where we usually have a working area, was like concrete. So we went to play in the potato patch. Not get many chips out of this lot, Chris thinks. Bottoms up. If you'd taken those silly shades off like I told you, this wouldn't have happened. How about some organ music. I wonder who these two tractors belong too?

8 pointsWhile on Facebook yesterday a fellow redsquare member put out a wheelhorse that was on the market place. I pretty much ignored it because Jim was not home and I didnt know what time he was getting home and he has the truck. When he got home, I mentioned it but he did not seem to be interested so I left it there. Sooo...yesterday after driving 600 miles home from a car show in MI, Jim sees the same post on Facebook and was like "why didn't you tell me about this?" I was like "I did and you didn't seem interested" long story short he thought I said 1054, not 1045 and so he messaged the guy and the guy said if you have cash and can get here tonight, it is yours...bring help because it is heavy. So we put our little trailer on the truck and headed out. The trans is not locked up and the engine turns over, Jim believes that it would have started if the points are cleaned...not bad for a piece of "lawn art" that hasn't been run in 10+ years. It sat on a raised concrete slab, and it was rougher than the pictures showed. The guy said he originally picked it up in his minivan...that takes balls!!. The front and rear tires are SHOT and are not salvageable there are rust holes in the deck and the lights thatvare on the front are mismatched but it is all there and that is all that really matters...this one is getting restored!!

8 pointsOur town and country antique gas engine and tractor show is on Aug 25th this year. This Saturday is the big day. As some of you know, my dad passed away back in May. He road one of our parade tractors every year and this year he will be greatly missed. This is my dad on our John Deere last year. Keep the grass cut in heaven pop. We love and miss you.

8 pointsGot the hood on and decided to put a longer nipple in the exhaust to move the stack a little farther away from the hood. I still need to paint the letters on the front of the hood and add the decals.

4 pointsStopped by there today at the request of the auction company because I am a local. It was, to say the least, and extremely impressive collection that varied in Year from around 1960 or so all the way up to maybe 1995 ish? Most of the tractors are what I would call Works in progress. I picked up some of the smaller stuff. I ended up getting four tractors and two parts shelves full of stuff and some various other items. I'll get some pictures posted as I get them here at home. Should be tomorrow if everything goes right. FYI teaser. I have a box of bearings That I'm going to need some help identifying. There are a few big rollers in there with the number 3110. There are also a whole bunch of needle bearings with the number 3110. Two completely different bearings even though the number is the same so there must be some kind of a letter differentiation there.

4 pointsFunny how I come to miss a post 8 pages long, then run out of likes for the day! Josh and Caleb, great work and I love that you share life stories and lessons learned along the journey! @Coulter Caleb You are a fine example of a young man. I’ve never heards the word toil or strife from another 13 year old. A father of little girls can only hope that one day his daughters find a suitable man to take his little girl and start a family. That’s a long way away, but it’s good to know there are good kids in this world. Thanks for starting my day with a great read, fellas!

4 pointsThe rear wheels of a Wheel Horse were never designed to be run at highway speeds. If you look closely at the metal thickness at the bolting area compared to a trailer wheel you will see that the trailer wheel has thicker metal.Do yourself and the rest of us that use the roads a favor. Do not use the tractor rim as a substitute for what is correct for the trailer. If you have a rim failure it will not be pretty. If there is an accident and it is discovered that you used an unapproved wheel then think about how liable you will be.You may get away with this trick but if someone gets hurt is it worth the convenience?

4 pointsMy father's 1054 is the first Wheel Horse tractor my brother and I started with on a restore and reuse mission. This was the condition in 2007! After the redo!

3 pointsI think they are just 1" extensions Paul. That extension is the 1st clue for the 10 pinion LSD.
-
3 points@pfrederi That oil extension is factory. They use them with the 10 pinion limited slip differentials to do exactly what you are saying...to raise the oil level a little more to better lubricate those floating pinions and that pesky spring. He has the 5060 transmission there. You want to put in enough oil until it starts to run out of the top of that extension. Maybe your oil level was low before you changed it. Jack up one side and change out your seals.
-
3 pointsWet lawn but, had to try. Why? WHA (Wheel Horse Addiction)! Picked up a freebie, 48" SD deck. The deck was used only a couple of times then parked 10 years ago. Being a nice guy, didn't charge to haul it away. Helpful. Put the deck on my '90 520-8 and, although wet outdoors, mowed a bit. I'm sick in the head I guess (know). No cure.

3 pointsA friend stopped by the other day and during conversation asked if I’m gonna put the girls in pulling... best luck with the Commando 800, Rylee’s is called Screamin’ Jimmy for its runaway characteristics. to

2 pointsThat is interesting. All of my 10 pinions were in hydros so they were deep in the fluid. Got me thinking i put a 10 pinion in a newer 8 speed awhile back guess I should put on an extension like this.
-
2 pointsMaybe after 51 years the seals got tired??? I notiice you have some sort of extension on your fill plug..how much oil are you putting in. Maybe over filling it???That extension would bring the oil level right up to the seals.....

2 pointsI am disabled and it's a long drive from IL to PA, one I don't think I could ever make. Is there any possibility of getting a banner without attending the show? I would be happy to buy one. Here are a couple pictures of my 701 Terry. What grade is your grand daughter in? I'm the director of our local tractor show which is this Saturday. My daughter might know your grand daughter.

2 pointsI’ll say you’re crazy, Cleat, but a little bit of crazy never hurt nobody! They’re lookin good!
-
2 pointsYikes...! That's not good. Hopefully it didn't ruin anything by the po doing that. I drained everything out yesterday lifted the front end (hoses are replaced too) so I'm gonna use 10w-30 run it a bit drain it out again and fill it back up with 10w-30 and call it good. Fingers crossed

2 pointsOk i have an update got the plate for the transmission made and welded in bolted up a trans and slapped some tires on it.
-
2 pointsok here we go now we are in business, I threw in a pic of my old clausing lathe from the late 40's early 50's before they were bought out by atlas I believe . its a model 100 mk1 I believe because the mk2 and mk3 had a quick change gear box for threading things mine has interchangeable gears on the end instead. anyway you can see the sleeves I bored out of 1.5 solid bar for the spindle shafts to fit into and I turned some nice brass bushings that were press fit into the sleeves so I don't wear out the sleeves or spindle shaft. I will be adding grease zerks on the sleeves before the project is complete. I will be using a set of spindles off a john deere 112. everything on this new frame has been welded with a Lincoln ac225 buzzbox with 7018ac rods. I am trying to base this frame design off of the tractors that have an angle iron frame this one is just going to be heavier duty. I plan to have hydraulics for a snow plow and 3 point hitch. if anybody has any questions or ideas lets hear it. hopefully later today I will have the plate don't and welded on to bolt the 6 speed trans in and I can have it setting on the tires and see what its gonna look like.

2 pointsEvery show is a little different. Most always you can unload your tractor, canopy, chairs etc. by your display but many times are required to park in a separate area (lack of space). If the show does not allow unloading by the display a tub can be brought along to haul back and forth between display and parking. A tub is always a good idea to have along anyway for tub rides for the kids.
