6 pointsAnybody else catch any shots of the longest Blood Moon this century??? Desk Top material.
-
5 pointsI was on the NASA site and took the picture off my computer monitor with my digital camera. Not sure what Craig is implying. It is a live shot of their live feed. I think it is pretty good, cents, since, sense I did not have to travel to Dubai, or Greece. Just thought you guys might like to see what it looked like. So be it, if you don't like it.
-
5 pointsRent a U-haul truck & trailer. Horses in the truck, vehicles on the trailer. A few less round trips.
-
4 pointsMuffler installed, and she seems mechanically functional. Voltmeter and Tach don’t work, don’t know if that’s a sign of something bad. I was surprised how different and loud the Onan 20 was. My 416-8 has a gentlemanly rumble, almost a diesel sound. THe 520 is LOUD and angrier. Here is the herd. They had the Craftsman surrounded.. gonna take his lunch money....

4 pointsHad about an hour or so after mowing the yard this afternoon, so I decided to mess with the bull gear and worn axle key hole. Welded them up best I could. Welding cast is not my thing. The axle was easier. I've still got to clean up the gear a little with my dremmel. Think it will be ok?
-
4 pointsYou just leave the 66 where it sits and I will come get it! I doubt its worth moving! On a more serious note, I work at a large car dealer and I promise you, you won't come out on the better end trading 2 vehicles in. Randy

3 pointsBeen trying to get a dozer blade for my SK486 Wheelhorse attracto Tractor Actually found the one that Came off the tractor before I bought it has a homemade lift Don't have all the particulars worked out yet will let you know Good find

3 pointsOut of the past month I’ve owned this tractor I have been VERY impressed with the power it has considering it’s size and small 8hp engine. Today I was even more impressed when I moved this trailer loaded with 2 mowers each weighing around 500lbs each plus the trailer weight. Overall I would guess the loaded trailer weights around 1700-1800lbs. Even in 3rd gear it pulled this trailer uphill without trouble, it even stopped it without to much trouble. This is same tractor that I made a thread about around a month ago that I got for $100, even after the upgrades and a few accessories i just picked up last week (a snow blower, deck, and rear grader blade) im still only into it about $500. I would like like to thank everyone who has helped me along with this, from electrical issues to putting in a different trans you guys have had an answer for everything!

3 pointsSeat belts are a must so the passengers who don't share my death wish can't escape. The unpainted angle irons will make the engine plate level and also allow it to slide so I can tighten the chain. This back frame is bolted upside down to the front frame so the flat side is on the bottom. I also tied the bottom of the plates together after I found the axle a little high on one side. Now level I made the axle equal length on each side and measured to the front center of the frame and found it to be true. I prefer studs over lug nuts. I just have to grind a bevel on one side of the nuts. I think the engine will be bolted over the one angle iron but the offset shouldn't be noticeable.

3 pointsAny guesses...as I will update with a seperate thread...only other hint is I did post a picture of this find a few months ago, Jeff.

3 pointsMowed the yard for the first time with my new to me 42" deck. Had to put in 2 spindle bearings and sharpen the blades. Absolutely no rust holes on the deck, just a little surface rust. Mows excellent - much better than the 37" deck that came on it. Next up is a set of 8" front wheels - just need to paint them.

3 pointsYep, the house is under construction... but gardening must go on! The first round of pickin’ was eaten by the girls, or given away. Last night we all worked on slicing, stuffing, brining, and waiting for the best magic including cucumbers and vinegar in the world (those two ingredients in raw form disgust me). Ended up with 19 1/2 quarts last night and we haven’t even started the spicy pickles yet.

3 pointsThis is where you throw up a pic Kev....go ahead Dells has got a a heck of a sense of humor!

3 pointsRental Do you want the DMV hassle of registering a new purchase then hoping it will it survive several round trips. Moving is hassle enough (28 yrs with Uncle I had some experience with that). When I retired we filled the Moving Van with more than the allowed 23,000 pounds . Made one trip with my Sonoma towing a Small Uhaul trailer. then another with a U haul truck towing a car carrier with my M-37 on board. My next move is to the old age home....
-
3 pointsI understand. The grill looks like it was made for something else or fabricated at the last minute. I think they have that Tim the tool man thing going. Some years back my younger brother put a Honda motorcycle engine on an old 60s Wheelhorse. One day he chained it up to a stump and when he cranked it up it just stood up on the back wheels and hopped like a dog on two feet. He ran it in a few shows and then sold it.
-
3 pointsRental trucks and trailers are the way to go. If it breaks down they will bring you a replacement. If you buy a truck you will have to lay out a bunch of money to title, register and insure it. That will probably be more than the cost to rent a large truck and trailer and none of it is recoverable when you would sell the truck.

2 pointsPicked this 40 mid mount up today! Found it listed on Craigslist pretty close by and it was listed for 1/3 of the normal asking price. So i jumped on it.
-
2 pointsMine is a gt 14 with the factory ark loader. It was the first horse I bought a the best investment yet. Last photo is the day I brought it home
-
2 pointsI started repowering my Charger 9 with a 10hp Kohler. Wiring/cables yet to be hooked up, but making progress.
-
2 pointsSlightly split a Charger 12 to replace the two seals behind the motion control. Went really well this time. I can live with seeps and small drips but this was more than needed to stop rust on her underside....none of my tractors/mil vehicles will ever rust out from the bottom....
-
2 points@dells68 Remember that if you are changing from 6 " wheels to 8" you need to change the axles to 8 " or the front end will set up higher. 6 " axles ( spindles ) are longer than axles (spindles) for 8 " tires.

2 pointsMust’ve been the time to test out “new to me” 42” SD decks! Caleb’s uncle Roger gave him one for JackRabbit that too had a couple of rough bearings. However, the shell and the rest of it was in really good shape. It was so cool to see Caleb cutting on his very own tractor. He was really enjoying it although he looks mad in the pic—probably concentrating! Then it was time to head up to Symco for the thresheree. We took GhostRider and Comanche... I love doing stuff like this with the whole tribe! The boys got into some trouble while in the “old town” and the Marshal threw them in the clink! Took this pic just as we were loading up. We hooked Dad’s old Bolens plow on the back that he used to plow our garden with attached to the 875 when I was a kid! A fun Wheel Horse day overall!

2 pointsYou might be on to something right there This tractor is one fun small machine. Very agile, nice tight turns, sips gas with a very capable 8hp kohler engine. As far as pushing or blowing snow, no problem at all, as far as I'm concerned. I prefer it over the larger tractors I have. And I have a long driveway. I don't mow with a , I have a zero turn for that I'd almost swear any owner of a 68 Commando 8 would say, that they are a great little tractor

2 pointsMy Honey and I could be friends with coffee station people. My only cooking specialty:
-
2 pointsBelieve me, I’m keeping a close eye on them! There will be a wet bar and coffee station against that wall when we’re done with this whole bathroom gig!
-
2 pointsFinished new lights in the adjacent room, so I can keep moving on with Sheetrock... errr. Start with Sheetrock. Mrs. Pullstart needs to tie her knots in the ropes, then we’ll finish installing bulbs.

2 pointsHad a run down to the rally as I'd ever been before. Just stayed for an hour and a half, but it was long enough to see everything. No horticultural machines to be seen unfortunately.

2 pointsGet the big box truck with a car hauler and you could knock it out in a couple trips...
-
2 pointsJack, here are some pics of my 1277 with a johnson 10 loader. Its important to attach your loader to front, mid and rear points of your tractor. If you only connect to front and mid, your loader can twist the frame because the counter weight on the rear will try to hold the rear down and sometimes your loader will twist left or right depending on what you doing. My loader was added by the PO and really did not do that great of job. I added to the subframe to go around the rear end, but there are lots of way to do things different from how I do it. Just thought I would give you some ideas. First pic is my son in action.

2 pointsI used the one i had alot. But I wanted another one since i got rid of the last one. For use at our campsite. Cause its all stone and dirt. But it all can be leveled off very nicely with one of these blades. And it's another reason to play with the tractors of course!

1 pointThat is quiet , nothing wrong with Red neck engineering as long as dynamite and adult beverages are not part of the engineering.
-
1 pointSo I have more progress I have done. Hood cut, fenders on, front tires and wheels fuel tank
-
1 pointSorry, oldredrider, that is not the problem. Those mounting bolts are in a blind hole and do not go into the transmission...unless somebody drilled it out and tapped it...which I doubt. More likely, something is a little rusted. Drain the oil and see what is in there. Depending on what you find, fill with diesel for a few days and try moving the hi/low shifter once in a while. Rock the horse also, but do not force the issue...you can bend or break the fork piece of metal. If it does not loosen up, you may need to open the trans. Let us know.
-
1 pointThose are the worst bulbs you can use. They will almost always go bad from rust around the hole and loose there ground. You can soldier a wire to the outside of the holder or a small rivit and use a ground wire .

1 pointYou are missing the parts in the upper left corner of this schematic. # 41... 3/8" dia threaded rod , and 42...an adjustment knob. (#31 is just a plastic cap) #40 is the red block bolted to the hoodstand of your tractor.

1 pointI don't know why but would like to mention something. Short of you cleaning some obstruction from any mechanical area that restricted movement and therefor speed, It makes me think of when years back with my Electro 12 after hours of plowing would be noticeably slower specially in reverse. It would basically barely move in reverse and had half the speed going forward. After replacing the obvious components as recommended for that condition, (springs), it was basically the same. Entire hydro unit was then rebuilt, and it was incredible the difference. So, there is a possibility that your unit was getting too hot already for a while gradually decreasing speed but not noticeable since it was gradual. Once cleared of any cooling obstructions it may now be operating at an ideal temperature, and it may possibly need an overhaul. Am I crazy???????

1 pointAmazing...over 100 people have read this and no one has anything to say. All I can say, is I have read this twice and I have no idea what to say either. Maybe just...Enjoy the Ride.

1 pointI was able to tighten up the muffler quite a bit by running a thread chase a little further down the hole and also removed the broken stub from the exhaust bolt that snapped from the other muffler. Then I put another full rotation on the elbow and tightened up the lock nut against the engine. The carb had been soaking in acetone (what I had on hand) for about 26 hours and we scrubbed that main body off. That cleaned out well enough. The main jet (emulsion needle) was pretty crudded up and after it soaked for a day and I cleaned it off I could see the tiny holes better. In fact I found another..... We'll let it stay in the drink another day.

1 pointNot shown attached to a horse but what we use to plant and harvest potatoes

1 pointBuilt a light bar for my B-80 the other day and got the lights all put on and wired up today. I'll post some pics of how bright they are this evening.
-
1 pointI’m not particularly a hoarder but with these little tractors I feel compelled to save everything I can for them and about them! This stuff is fun for me and I’m glad I’ve joined a forum with people who are just as crazy as me! Lol

1 pointDo you have a leaf blower? If so, take points cover off and gently blow off the points and check the gap then clean contacts again. You should also blow off all other ignition parts like coil, wire, key switch etc.
