Just figured I would post some updated photos. The RJ is done and runs perfect. Thanks Vin! I took some time to lower the front end on the Economy by cutting 3” out of the front spindles. It is now level and looks much better imo. I could drop it more but then I have to get into cutting the axle ties etc. That is not out of the question but for now I think it may be ok.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a D-160 that had a blown K-341 with it. The engine had a hole the size of a softball in the side so it is shot. The tractor is solid but had surface rust. I like the patina but wanted this one to look nice. The rear lift components had been removed so I have aquired the cylinder and other parts to hook it all back up. The tractor also came with a BF series 16 horse Onan that didn't run. After fixing the points, rebuilding the carb. and adjusting the valves it runs better every time I start it. I have purchased a replacement K-341 for it but may hold off installing it for a while. I am cleaning and rattle can painting the tractor as I go. Not looking for a show tractor but just a clean one. Yep, the house is under construction... but gardening must go on! The first round of pickin’ was eaten by the girls, or given away. Last night we all worked on slicing, stuffing, brining, and waiting for the best magic including cucumbers and vinegar in the world (those two ingredients in raw form disgust me). Ended up with 19 1/2 quarts last night and we haven’t even started the spicy pickles yet.

Got it all stripped down to the frame. Removed the frame from the tranny/hydro. Stripped the frame down to bare metal with the sidewheel grinder with 80 grit flap sander and a needle gun. Couple of coats or itching primer and decided to do something different and went with gloss black. Thought it came out pretty good

About to buy another RJ58 , the tractor comes with these attachments ,can anyone tell me if they are all made by Wheelhorse, it would be nice if they were all RJ attachments as pretty rare to find an RJ with these that come with the tractor , especially here in UK

You can clamp the tool to something solid and then hold your project in the vice grips or the other way around. Makes good sense to me if you need a third hand or don't want to be hauling a vice around with you.

Jack, I bought the GT-14 with the loader attached. It is a Johnson Workhorse had been owned and operated by a landscaping contractor prior to my purchase. The sub frame appears to be a factory built and is very stout. The sub frame is bolted directly to the frame in several positions. I have several photos of the unit and if you need more I can fix you up in a couple of days.

Jack, here are some pics of my 1277 with a johnson 10 loader. Its important to attach your loader to front, mid and rear points of your tractor. If you only connect to front and mid, your loader can twist the frame because the counter weight on the rear will try to hold the rear down and sometimes your loader will twist left or right depending on what you doing. My loader was added by the PO and really did not do that great of job. I added to the subframe to go around the rear end, but there are lots of way to do things different from how I do it. Just thought I would give you some ideas. First pic is my son in action.

Great idea! I have a siding job coming up when the bathroom is done, and my flat bed trailer is broken AND loaded... with no interest to invest in it right now. It’s pretty worn. I was thinking of buying a 12’ 2x12 to stack siding on top of, but I already have an extension ladder!

When we built our house I installed a tank-less water heater with a recirculation system then routed the hot water lines from fixture to fixture and a return line from the last fixture. When we open any hot water faucet in the house we have hot water within seconds, love it.

I WOULD NEVER DO IT AGAIN. I AM TOO OLD FOR THAT, BUT IT WAS FUN.

Keep at it Dell, I have zero knowledge of that transmission, so I can only give you encouragement but no sound advice.

Both tractors look great I would love to eventually see a video of that Economy pulling...looks Like that thing will really do the job! Well done

For my GT16 Restomod I used the muffler off 400 series tractor with only slight mod to the mounting bracket. The 341 and 321 are basically same. So same set up would work on the stock GT14.

Picked up this C-160 a couple of weeks ago from Joe out in SW PA. It had been on the Classified page for a while so I went out for a look. Got her home and got a new battery, new plug, new plug wire and some fresh gas. She purrs like a BIG kitten! Drove her around the yard a few times and put her on the lift. Got some of the parts I am going to need at the BS and some more from Jay in GA. Wife told me I have to finish the all the trim work in her "home theatre" in the basement so......... I do get a few hours in. After all, "Ya gotta let the finish dry between coats"

been looking for a rolling frame for my next project, before this gets tore apart, (will be in another post shortly) I am not to familiar with the square hoods. what model is it?

The Rectifier is bolted to the outside because I'm old and my arthritic hands don't work well enough to bolt it to the back side of the cover without removing the side cover. Getting old ain't for sissies!

Rent a U-haul truck & trailer. Horses in the truck, vehicles on the trailer. A few less round trips.

Hate to answer for Aldon but I think that is what he used. I made my muffler(although not super quiet) modeled after the 418-a. Same length and diameter. Just no packing in it.

Believe It or not Dick, here in Maine that load would be fully legal as long as there is a red flag on the back, less than six feet from the back bumper, and enough straps in consideration of weight and length.

I'll build another one with a nice hitch and you can ride 42.8 mph in the tub cart !

Note to self, before taking things off be sure to take a picture of it. Glad I have a parts manual. Hope to have pictures of the finished product next week.

Amazing...over 100 people have read this and no one has anything to say. All I can say, is I have read this twice and I have no idea what to say either. Maybe just...Enjoy the Ride.

Sometimes the switch is good but missing the actuator...notice the difference...took me about 3 weeks to figure it out only then because I had another unmolested unit to look at, Jeff.

Getting the 1st two of eight total ready to go to the show in New London, Oh. This weekend. the 857 and the 1054 still need some minor cleaning but they’re ready to load. Show is 7-27-18 to 7-29-18. Hope to see you there!!

I don't see anything wrong with your transmission, except that chipped tooth. Weld it up and grind or file it. The parts in your 1960's trans could be used in your RJ trans... Here is the deal...if you want to change the bull gear/differential housing, you probably have the newer model...which means that you will have to change the mushroom gear also. They are pairs. Also, The service bulletin says that if you use a mushroom gear from a trans that has the needle bearing on the brake shaft, you need to put four #1197 shims under the mushroom gear on the left side of the trans. The other gears in the 60's trans are also interchangeable in your RJ trans. The service bulletin also talks about the number of teeth on the inside of the 2 fork gears and the pinion that goes on the end of the spline shaft. Early ones have 10 teeth...later models have 11 teeth. If both have the same number of teeth, any of it is changeable with it's counter part. If you have one set with 10 teeth and the other has 11, you can change it, but you need to change the whole set (spline shaft, both fork gears and that pinion. Know this...if your RJ trans has gears with 10 teeth, then that horse is Serial Number 11627 or less in 1958. It would follow that, if your trans has 11 teeth it is Serial Number 11628 or later in 1958. As far as a noisy trans, I would add a pint of Lucas Oil additive with the 90 wt when you put it back together.

Thanks guys. It was a little disheartening to open it up and find the chipped tooth. It seems to turn fine in all gears, or did when it was together. I only plan on riding it around at Dad's for fun. It's not going to be a high speed machine or worker. I may give it a try to build up the tooth a little in the morning then start reassembly. This is the first time in days that I've even had a chance to touch it. Free time is slim right now.

Stripped all the way. Pressure washer broke, no trailer wife says why not put it in that one. Off to the carwash i go.

I tore the tranny apart and cleaned the parts. Need to get a better understanding of what parts I will need to rebuild it. I also cleaned the deck and gave it a quick few coats of clear.

Just a little update on the 59' RJ. Got everything cleaned and clear coated. Found a gas tank on ebay that I feel I got at a decent price. Motor is being rebuilt my my friend VINSRJ (check out his you tube videos on the rebuild). i have a 58' tranny in it so it can be a roller. Next big step is to tear into the tranny as something is broken inside for sure. Hope it is not too bad. I decided to paint the wheels black as I feel the black looks better with the patina than re painted in white. Getting there.

Found it.... it's a Haban snowblower....With that in mind... are you positive that's a Wheel Horse blade ? As for worth it.... only you can decide that. Just recently I watched several AC/Simplicity blowers be sold for $5 ea. I didn't have the room and didn't want to mess with them to try to make money on them. Just because something "should" be worth something doesn't always mean it is. Well, I pulled the transmission apart tonight and the news isn't so good! It was full of water and lots of sludge. Thankfully the bearings seem fine. When I washed the gears down, I found a lot of wear on two of the gears (don't know their technical names) I believe the bull gear and the one that drives it. One tooth is chipped on the bull gear and the drive gear is roughed up pretty good. I've got a suburban trans that I could pull apart for parts. Any chance the bull and drive gears from it would match? It's the type with needle bearings on one of the shafts. Or should I try to build up the one broken tooth by welding? Any help appreciated.

I told my wife that I am not going to buy anymore tractors, however if a nice original not all hacked up C-141 Automatic comes up at the show I'm going to buy it. Well she wasn't to happy about it but......

It's for sale locally on CL. I think the engine may be trashed though.

I got bored today while waiting for my onan rings, decarb gasket set and carb rebuild. I guess I’ll clean it up, put the electric lift and do some other required repairs. It’s in remarkable shape. It’s always better to start off at the bottom and work up.

So today I was able to get the fenders welded up. I have been hearing from the locals that I need to get a mig and I think they are right...
