Well, this poor Ole thing showed up at our club's annual show and was screaming for someone to rescue it. Upon closer inspection it has really nice tires and a rust free deck on it. I've been wanting a good 42" deck for my 312 and it couldn't have worked out better. Poor tractor has bird turd welds on the dash and hood, a replacement Briggs motor, terrible seat, etc... Emory wants the tractor after I steal the wheels, tires, and deck. I've got more wheels and tires I'll give him. I probably over paid at $175, but even the 8 speed tranny will pull great in all gears without popping out. Another one rescued.

I'm sitting here on a nice afternoon beside my two horses. Just wondering if I'm crazy to give them a name! Or if I'm just crazy to be sitting here beside em? Lol! I'm about to get the old 655 / 855 running and ohhh what a sweet day! She's my little worker.

Been in my shop for 3 months, tore down and painted and a few repairs, it has 3-point, rear PTO and twin rear brakes. Still a few things to finish. Got a new seat coming, and have to rub the paint out. The fender and hood were pitted bad, so it don't look show, but from the neighbors yard it look great. The gas tank is made out of a ditch witch oil tank. It was free. I used the old decals on the hood.

If your shift lever comes out of the transmission or is stuck in one gear first back out the “Dog-point” screw that retained the shifter. Take a look in the hole the shifter came out of to be sure it is in neutral as shown above. Inspect the dog-point to be sure it is in good condition and back off on the locking nut a couple of turns. Insert the shifter and run the dog-point into the dimple in the shift lever collar snugging it up with an allen wrench, don’t tighten it. Be sure the shifter works smoothly then tighten the lock nut while holding the dog-point steady with the allen wrench.

Saw this while surfing. It amused me so much that I had to share. Looks like the owner knows the true value of his tractor.

Had a nice day on the farm today.

well here's some quick pics of the truck and tractor show parked beside ebinmaines patriot horse and there were other horses there i noticed hiding too plus i saw i think a 702 model or a 657 in the back of a studebaker truck which was cool...... the downside of today when i went to go load my tractor the transmission acted up so luckily eric just happen to be coming through and used his ramps along with mine to make the incline not so steep but remains in the back of my truck with the tranny locked up

Spent the morning at the parts store getting everything needed to get the RM-364 deck(aside from the blades that are on the way) operational and everything went smoothly! Even got the old rusty muffler off and mounted a new one. Good day!

That's amazing the garbage cans the same color. It's a perfect match. No sorry he painted it to match. I always say. You blush red, pee yellow and when your sick you turn green. Sorry LORD it's all in fun.

It's for sale locally on CL. I think the engine may be trashed though.

Guess it is some sort of transformer morphing from a JD into a trash can. Not a big transition when you think of it.

Hi Pete it’s a 512D, I think it’s the only wheel horse model with a Diesel engine. Robin DY41.

That’s what people tell me . So I joined this support group but all it did was make me buy little red tractors !
  23. 3 points
No need to swear them off now! 19 is an odd number. Kind of like the ole Onan. Parts are hard to get for it, near impossible for those 4 cylinder Renault engines. Got really lucky with the Onan and hydraulics on the d160. Maybe I shouldn't push my luck with the d250's.

I'm one of the lucky ones, the little lady supports the addiction. She knows I could do a lot worse things with my time. Not only does she like these tractors, she buys things for them, she goes to the big show, I think she may even want one for herself.

Here's my version of "I've told my wife": "I married you after 58 years of bachelorhood, by choice. You are my mate in life until one of us kicks the bucket. I quit smoking for my own personal health reasons. I have significantly decreased my public and domestic swearing. I have only owned one (1) Wheel Horse tractor for 39 years. It will be 50 years old next year. I use it to mow every year (because of my mechanical & maintenance engagement with said machine, I have managed to keep it running all these years). I will not guarantee I will not purchase another, but if I do that, the purchase will be well thought out, and financed by my retirement funds. I will continue to imbibe responsibly, as I desire." "Questions?"

I have been seeing that poor neglected bird turd catcher on C's List for about a year. Glad you were able to get him down to what it is worth. It is totally your decision on the pair of 250s. I wouldn't even go look for fear I'd end up buying them in a moment of weakness.

I found the problem(s). I think that the original starting problem my dad was having was due to the starter ground lug nut and washer falling off. As part of tracing the circuits, I took the relays off to test them. A couple terminals of the relays were 'tarnished' so I cleaned them with some emery cloth. Then I blew out the relay sockets with the air compressor. There was quite of bit of dust and debris that came out. I think when cleaning the tractor and I blew out the area between the dash and radiator I blew this debris into the relay sockets. At any rate, I plugged the relays back in and it fired right up and ran great.

Please do not run the blower with this arrangement. The two pulley tensioner system is there to keep a constant tension on the belt. The solid system you have could overload the bearings in the PTO and the blower. V belts are designed to make contact on the sides of the belt, not on the bottom. In addition of the possibility of destroying the belt and the bearings, the blower will only be running at about half of its design RPM with the belt on this smaller diameter drive pulley. The blower will not throw snow very well at this lower RPM.

Thread size I believe 5/16"-18, if there is any bolt left sticking up above the port, try welding a nut to it the heat should help release the seized threads as well as something to "wrench" it out with, Jeff.

She told me “If you go get a zero turn mower and keep 3 acres mowed for me, you can have as many Wheel Horse tractors as you want.” I had had the last words of the argument though... I sure did. “Yes Dear.”

Ok guys Excuse the yellow and black. Think better of me down the road. The old Toro 95 832 profesinal tranny finally went. The dealer said they are obsolete. And they are sealed tranny and can not be rebuilt.. It has mowed many miles. So I pick this up from the Toro dealership. I have to say the 832 mowed better than this one but this being a hydro it is quicker because of the reverse mowing and the very tight turning radius. I looked at a Toro zero turn but the price with a bagger I just thought it was not worth the $$ because of my age and the small lawn. Mowing Happy
