Well here's the current status of the B80.... At some point the parts that are still red will get a fresh coat of nice bright red. A before, a couple days ago. A few "in progress" pics. Stick on tape sandpaper type stuff on the steps. A ummm.... repair to the belt guard Added felt tape to the battery box to stop the vibration of a loose battery Here's how it looks for now. New knobs and a keychain from one of our fine vendors - Mr Pettit. And...... Check out the horn !!!

Well she runs. Amazing what a set of points and a condenser will do for you. Oh and not having the fuel pump on upside down. Don’t ask, it was a late night when I put it on. Not good with staying up late anymore. Took all the power steering stuff out and went back to factory steering at least till after the show. Might leave it that way and use the PS on something else. All hiem joints except for onerod end. Steers good to me. Also got the headlights installed and they seem to work. Had the lense on for a little while and the fan running and the lense didn’t get hot. We’ll see how long it lasts. Half the fun of building stuff for me. Also have a pic of my helper for the day. She wouldn’t leave me alone so I let her jump in.

I finally got the 5-20 out of my cousins garage bay. We stabiled the fuel in December and shut it off at the tank. Went there today and it fired right up. This tractor runs so well I think the hour gauge is correct. The motion controls need adjustment (lever won't stay in position) and the tach doesn't work. Aside from that it's good. I have all the panels to replace the pitted ones. The 3-12 is out cause I have a mow job that needs bagging. So I put the deck on, I completely went thru it this winter and a new belt. The bagger is going on later.

Tonight I got the correct belt for it, installed it and put on the fan @wallfish. Pulled the rear wheels to paint the hubs and axles/axle spacers. Filled her with oil, retighten all the lines after a small spill and worked all the air out of it. She moves forward, backwards and when the brake is pressed, she stops and goes back to neutral. Also installed the 418-A neutral detent and adjusted her to where she doesn’t creep. Finished up my hood latch button. Still need to weld up the slot in the front if the hood. Getting down to the nitty gritty.

Duh.....did this just this past Saturday on my 414-8.Mowed about 10 feet and the tractor stopped moving.Pushed it back to my shop, pulled of the right foot rest and drive belt cover.Belt was real loose, but not bad enough to make the tractor not move at all.Thought something broke in the tranny.Standing there looking and feeling stupid,I glanced at the hi lo shifter. It was in neutral. What a relief.Installed a new #7473 belt that I already had.Goes like new now.Belt should last another 30 yrs.Good luck with your problem.

I wouldn't want to cause a reverse super charging effect at the high speeds I do.... Actually, I thought of that but it just didn't look right. Besides... Taller stack = more chrome! .

Worked the 400 a little bit, around here today. For toting, even the Mrs Rules said... "Man, that thing sure comes in handy."

Just finished working the Commando at our poor man's lake home. Very warm and humid here today so second shower, slip on the shorts and sitting in the old camper air conditioning watching the Cubs. Fired up Lola's laptop and working on trading cards and other stuff for the Big Show. Dave (Muz123) has taken spot #47 so 3 spots left and running out of time.

So I have a Craftsman GT3000 and have owned it since new in 2001. It’s been (and still is) an awesome machine. But I know at some point small things will quit so I stumbled across an identical tractor to mine minus the motor. Bought it cheap as a spare parts machine. But rather than store an entire tractor I dismantled it and will box up everything I want and will scrap the rest. Took me about 2-1/2 hours to get it all done. Had a blast doing it!!

Got to work on the C-100 8 speed over the weekend...Only real rust was on the rear fender pan. Luckily the previous owner sent a replacement along with the purchase. Changed it over Sunday and ,moved the seat back two inches and now I fit. I was surprised at just how bad the rear pan was with no rust anywhere else. I was about to toss the old pan but thought I should post pics and see if anyone needs one. Needs about a 8 x 10 patch welded in. Not needed by me as I had the spare but I have no idea of these are plentiful or not. If someone needs it it's free for the cost of shipping. I'll hang on to it for a few weeks and see if there is any need for it. Then I mowed with the Wheelhorse for the first time this afternoon... Wow what a great little machine. I'm used to my Bolens XL16 that overpowers the lawn... the Wheelhorse requires active participation and finesses the win... what a great little tractor. I have to tip my hat to the PO I charged the battery and turned the key and off we went.... all greased up , everthing already adjusted, fluids good , new paint and it would look new....maybe over the winter. then again something to be said for honest patina. Nest week I hope to fire up the Hydro C-100 and see how that works..... Great Forum here and glad it's available... Mike B

I painted Skonk's engine with std. Automotive paint. I have a few hours on it and it's held up fine.

We finished up assembly on the Patriot Horse this morning ( See the restoration section for more on that. ) ...And put it right to work. We moved some cut/split wood out of the forest. I found even with fluid filled tires I was slightly lacking for traction in the rough forest so I added these "other brand" wheel weights. 50 pounds each. Seemed like it helps. Tractor now weighs well over 900 pounds without my extra ballast. My next/current project is the trailer in the pics. I'm moving the axle back to put more weight on the tractor and also to facilitate easier dumping. I'll throw some pics if that in the implements section in a few days.

Well it went in today. Keep in mind I bought this truck with 150,000 miles on it. I have replaced the muffler and tail pipe because it rotted and a sway bar link because it broke. I replaced the rad because the fins got mushy no leaks. And I replaced the shocks because I wanted to. I just called them. I had them check the gas tank, gas lines, brake lines calipers, wheel bearings, rack and pinon, steering, hoses. Changed the oil and tire rotation. I needed....................... a tail light bulb! Out the door with tax $52.95

You might want to consider cutting off some of the wheel weight mounting bolts and putting an acorn nut on them. I have a couple of scars on my leg from tangling with wheel weight bolts.

@squonk Keep it up Skunky and you will have to follow a treasure map to find that very nice 16 hp thumper. Especially when the payment for hauling services is a hot dog for lunch. Have not idea what you are talking about.

being impatient I put the belt on and found a board for temp seat fired it up again and took it for a ride, I was told by the PO it was in his storage for 25 years or so, drove great, so now waiting for the seat, have to reattah the hitch, paint the muffler high heat black, and some other details, the rims will get painted antique almond I decided. here's some pics all clean and paste waxed up! it was a fun weekend

I heard thru the grapevine that the owner of this tractor/deck combo your working on ran over a dog chain while mowing. I’m thinking that’s part if not all the reason the “nubs” on the spindles are destroyed.

Pretty much like Mikes. No paint on the head and just some on the block fins but not a solid coat.

Using a high temp paint on regular temp areas is not an issue. High temp paint can change color slightly after it has been heated the first time, so your colors may still end up being different in the end.

Helping out a local Shrine with some new property they just picked up. It needed a bit of weed "whipping"... C-105 did the job with no complaints. Amazing power...

You have the deck mounted correctly?... If the 'yoke' doesn't engage the small rod, it will flop around on the lift/height adjuster.

I also have some to deal with (probably always there but I educated myself this spring...I bit of me wishes I hadn't; ignorance was bliss! ). Since it's an annual, my plan is to pluck the seed heads and apply preemergent late-summer/early-fall (before soil temps dip below 70 degrees) and a 2nd preemergent application in late fall. I'll avoid the PE on areas that I have to re-seed. I also have some Poa Trivialis (perennial )...that I've been hand-pulling (somewhat in denial that I'll have to torch those patches with glyphosate down the road.)

So I’m still toiling away today and may update more later but I took a brake to eat early dinner. I made significant progress towards mocking up the turning brake hand controls. Had to run Intersil town to get the materials and then I needed to weld and realized that I had changed the 220 plug to allow me to backfeed my Generator this winter/late spring. Had to make a short adapter. So significant non wrenching time but made the most of the rest of day. First I had to determine the right location for the support shaft, then fab up custom handles and so forth. Only had rough idea of what I wanted to do. Designed on the fly....

May we never forget those that fought before us, and those that fought and did not make it. This day is for them and for us, that made it, to remember them. Don't ever forget that the freedom we love was paid for by those Veterans. Freedom is something that you have to fight for everyday...maybe more now then ever before. If you can't fight...make sure you VOTE...that is the best freedom we have.

It looks like a cub cadet seat and I think the fenders are correct but the flipped them side to side and attached the other pieces to them. You could flip the fenders around, get rid of the weird looking pieces, add regular front wheels and throw a predator on there and have a runner! Randy

I bought a 1973 16 automatic, so I no longer need the 1973 12-8 speed. It will come with an extra set of running boards, tire chains and a replacement belt for the snow thrower. I'm asking $750 for everything.

Need new points, plug, condenser. Fuel pump would not pump fuel so off it comes and an electric pump will take it’s place. Building a mount monday. So while I am waiting to get parts, figured I would get my headlight situation taken care of. The factory light housing fits fine with the fuel tank but it hits the wires and presses them into the socket lip. So rather than try to fix it, upgrade it. 😁 I had gotten another headlight housing from Aldon but when I got it, it was cracked from shipping, so I had no problem modifying it. I made a plate for the top and cut my holes for twist in halogen bulbs. I’ll replace them later with LED replacements. I had some small fans from I bought a long time ago from a surplus place. Mounted it up and will drill the air feed later. Should work just fine. Should.......

Kohler recommends a straight 30w for temperatuures above 30 degrees. They don't recommend a multi weight oil.The most important thing for long life is to change the oil at 20 to 25 hours. There is no filter on the single 16 so when drained all the crud comes out.In my mind oil is cheap compared to a rebuild.

First time I've disassembled spindles. It's a 42" SD 95-42MS01-29657. This deck appears to have 3 different spindles. The outer ones are larger diameter but have different shafts. I'm relatively sure the PO changed out some of the spindles. I've got bearings but last night I discovered I need one housing that is worn down (on the bottom blade end) so far that the snap ring groove is gone. Please see pics. The second pic is the 3 spindles disassembled. The smaller shaft spindle being the center box of parts. I'm going to post a wanted ad for a spindle housing, but my question is what info do I need to get the same one? I know there are many different spindles. I have printed out the Spindle ID Chart from the manual section and it's a little confusing. I need to take more time to study it. Thanks, Todd
