10 pointsA couple weeks ago I was given one of these tagged 10 HP Hardware. Yesterday a friend stopped by and gave me three more. Another 10 HP, a GT-14 and a Lawn Ranger. The part numbers are 200061, 200057 and 200065. It really seems like an odd way to sell common hardware but they are cool. Based on the GT-14 I'd guess they were made in the early 70's. In my decades of Wheel Horsing I've never seen these before and all of a sudden I have four. Anybody have a clue as to what they were thinking? If somebody needed a 1/4"-20 nut would the nut in the Lawn Ranger work because there are none in the GT-14 kit.

9 pointsI was cleaning up pics on the PC this morning and came across this. I most likely got it from a Facebook post. I apologize if it's been posted here already.

6 pointsA few days back an acquaintance told me his neighbor had a non-running Wheel Horse he wanted to find a new home for. I took a look and saw quite a bit of parts potential, same trigger ignition system as my GT-14 and the seller said the Sundstrand transmission and hydraulic lift worked. Had to jumper across the solenoid to get it to turn over, but the battery was good and verified it had spark. Had some time today and after replacing the old nasty fuel, installing a new plug, ignition switch and choke cable it came to life. Engine was a bit shaky at first, but Seafoam in the fuel and sprayed in the air intake did the trick within ten minutes. It is a '69 Charger 12 andcame with a rather nice 48" SD deck and it is one of the quietest ones I've ever used. That being said I don't know if I have the heart to part it out, in spite of an ugly black paint job it is too nice a . I don't need it, have plenty; so, what are your thoughts.

5 pointsI recently happened upon a very old planet jr set up brinly. I had found a lid from a 300 with seed gauge calculations , banged it back to shape ,then made a hing & steel rivets.

5 pointsI sanded the rims 10 front and 8 rear and decided that it was time to make a wheel rotating device so i could spin the wheel while painting. All it took was an MTD rear differential with mounted wheels, a Harbor Freight battery powered drill, and piece flexible tubing. The tranny has an 11 to 1 gear reduction, so the drill on slow turns the wheel much slower Use the tubing to join the drill to the transmission drive, Flip the axle to a standing position, and that is it. Redneck Solutions Inc. I have developed a way to paint the entire wheel in one operation. I am gonna owe you guys pictures of that

4 pointsResurrected a couple horses from their winter hibernation... both popped off with just a turn of the key. Then, did a little mowing with the C-160... and, a little posing with the 1056.

3 pointsRichie. Blood sacrifice is not a literal requirement for restoration projects. We all imply it but try not to practice it!!! Bandage and scar or are you gonna need stitches?
-
3 pointsI'm glad to see so many of you enjoying this thread. Call me weird but I could sit and watch boats for hours. Set me up at a boat launch to a local lake and I can watch boats going in and out all day! Of course Pearl Harbor is a happening place so there are boats going by ALL day long. Couple from today....

3 pointsHopefully this post will help anyone that has a similar problem. Just found out that Onan is made by Cummins. The dealer is downtown Indy. They will have a new seal for me Monday.......$7 bucks.

3 pointsA little twist.......the lower clutch shaft is a separate shaft from the engine one. I was able to hit with a torch and it came off.

3 pointsBob that so many unopened packs (and a variety of models) fell into your lap is remarkable! Congrats. I've seen those packs many times over the years, but most of them have been opened and missing one or more pieces of the hardware. If I were to venture a guess it would be that the company somehow took statistical data from dealer orders/sales records on what the most commonly requested replacements were and decided to make these small packs to expedite service and not tie up the time of the service manager or dealer for such trivial requests. These could be displayed in the showroom on the rack for self-service. The laminated card packaging would make it less enticing to try to steal just one small part than if they were in open bins like at the hardware store. Besides, who among us doesn't packrat away an extra piece of hardware here and there because we might need it sometime?

2 pointsJust picked up a 2002 520xi w/ 52 in deck and 198.7 hours on the clock. Came with a snow blower. Blower has set outside and is faded and ugly but is all there. Original owner passed away and his heirs didn’t want this so they sold it to a Deere dealership about 1 hr 45 mins from me. Needed blades and still needs cleaned up. I have a 72 inch ztr but have been looking for one of the 5xi series for a little bit. Wanted one when they came out but couldn’t afford one. Was mowing 2.5 acres with a 1974 C160 that was bought new by my dad. Story for a different time. Snow blower will be for sale or trade (almost prefer trade)
-
2 pointsWonder... do they ever do any battle field reenactments there, like Gettysburg does? Now, that would be something to see.
-
2 pointsThese types of solutions are often found to be the most intelligent and thought-out and successful. Pictures. You know we want pictures. We all love our pictures. I could be positive and say it's because a picture is worth a thousand words but... Let's just face it. I'm a bit simple-minded and I just really like pictures.

2 pointsGreat score! I found these two in a miscellaneous box of parts last year. Unfortunately someone needed parts out of one of the "kits". But they're great wall hangers!
-
2 pointsThanks. I don't ever read the other brands thread. Maybe there are some folks that haven't seen it. I just felt compelled to share it. It is hilarious!
-
2 pointsI could never part a horse as good as that. They aren't making them anymore and one day they may disappear

2 pointsAfter deciding I had enough Wheel horses (under duress from wife) I just could not resist and acquired this beauty with 147 hours from a member. With it there is a 48" deck and a 44" two stage blower all in the same condition as tractor. Of course all original paper work included. I had already also acquired a snow cab intended for it. As I left he asked me if there was anything else I was looking for. The only thing I could think of was " A nice place to stay?"

2 pointsThe drive belt should not be tight on the pulleys without the engage idler pulley applying tension down on the belt. The belt should've easily fit onto the 2 drive pulleys with plenty of slack to allow it to disengage. The engagement idler pulley rides on TOP of the belt, the flat side and pushes down on the belt for engagement. I don't know what the correct length belt should be but it's either too short or somehow routed wrong or maybe the original pulley was changed or.... Maybe wrong size belt in the package? You'd be surprised how much of a difference an inch can make when it comes to belts so being "roughly" for the size may not work. Cut the old belt and it's much easier to measure the length when it's not in a loop. Just throwing out suggestions but a Pic is worth a thousand words.

2 pointsI found some PPG Delthane/Delstar fast reducer and fish eye remover. Painted my IH 560 worker this winter. Hopefully this Horse turns out as well.

2 pointsAfter it stopped snowing Saturday, I took the rear chains and roller chains off the 68 Commando 8, and changed the dozer blade over to the 36" mower deck. Changed the oil and greased the tractor and checked the lube. It's ready for lawn duties.

1 pointHey All.....my early 90's Toro/WH 244H developed an oil leak somewhere around the bottom of the engine so I'm removing the engine to see whats up. Its a Onan 14 HP. I was able to remove the electric clutch but now I'm onto the engine drive pulley. Does anyone know how that pulley can be removed? Its seems to be tight on the shaft so maybe a puller? I dont see any set screws or other ways its attached. I guess its pressed on. I thought i would ask before rolling around on the floor for 2 hours not knowing what Im doing. Thanks! UPDATE.......It looks like I can remove the engine and the engine mounting plate all at once......then flip it over on the bench to repair. Whew!!!!

1 pointIt is not the transmission. It has to be something with the belt and pulleys. Make sure the belt is the right one and the right width. It should be a cloth covered belt also. Take off the guard and belt and clean the pulleys with mineral spirits. You are going to have some drift with a belt drive system, but it should catch up before you level out. You probably are doing this already, but if not, I think using 1st gear when going down hill should help. I hope the advise works for you Bob. I can't test it out here in Illinois...we don't have any hills. Illinois is flat.

1 pointI don't need anymore horses either but I'm always looking Put it up on big show buy sell trade. Somebody will buy it from you. I just wouldn't part it out, don't have it in my heart to do that. I bought a C120 auto once to take the engine out and put in a Massey Ferguson. It ran so nice and worked so well that I just couldn't bring myself to do it so I took it to the Big Show and sold it and then sold the massey later lol

1 pointRear end was full of chocolate milk after draining that and filling it full of diesel fuel and swishing it around got most of the gunk out. Replaced axel seals thanks again to red square current parts numbers and suggestions on how to made it a breeze. So after getting the gas tank figured out and sealed up I painted the frame, lift handle amd center tower. Here is a pic of how it looked before tires and rims were painted
-
1 pointThanks for the response guys. I went over the tractor 2 years ago and replaced a lot of worn parts. I put on a new main drive belt, new clutch spring did a lot of adjusting and so on. What I don't get is when I go down a slight grade it just starts to coast til it levels off and then the drive kicks in. I'm thinking the easiest thing is to check the hubs, right? What if one key is sheared off but the other is not, would it act like this? Bob

1 pointThere are two kinds of people in this world: those who have had a blowout on the interstate, and those who will have a blowout on the interstate. I have the predecessor to the endurance tires on my boat trailer. Marathons. Only had them for a year and a half, but no complaints. Replaced a set of passenger car tires the po had on there. Maybe 1500 miles on them so far. Still look new. Hit a bad hole at 60 mph on the interstate that blew tires on other vehicles and these survived for now. From what I see on the web they’re good tires and the endurance tires are better. Might be apples and oranges. Made in USA is a genuine positive. Mine are ST215/75R14’s. It was $224 for two of them shipped to my house which I thought was fair. That was pre-mounted to galvanized rims. Bought on eBay which was cheapest deal I found at the time. It it would have cost me more to buy separately and have them mounted to my rims. I put my old ones out by the curb and somebody took them in 10 minutes. They seem to have good traction. The trailer brakes haven’t locked up yet in rainy weather. I don’t know if they are balanced, but I don’t notice any issues. Hard to be enthusiastic about trailer tires. Or tires in general. I have more confidence in big brands than I do in the smaller ones. Steve
-
1 pointSorry to hear of your misfortune John. I have never experienced a blow out like that even tho I have punished my trailers to no end. I think my time is coming. Anything with Goodyear on it is going to be more... hear tell those blimps are expensive toys these days. I have no knowledge of those tires but will be interesting to see if others have.
