    Hello, just wanted to share some pictures of the 312-8 in action, very good puller with loads of allan block. Finally installing the retaining wall on the "Stable".

    Tomorrow is the first trip with equipment to the new house. One of the advantages of the brand trailer I have (Sure Trac) is that the gate can fold down onto the deck of the trailer. It will be loaded going down but empty returning, With the gate up it feels like I am still towing a parachute. The problem with having the gate down is that the trailer disappears behind my truck. I had bought a pair of 36" snowplow marker guides for the 42" single stage snowthrower a few years ago. They were to help locate the ends when pulling into our side-load garage. But before mounting them I found a shorter pair that worked better. So the longer ones languished on the shelf until today. I had a last minute thought to mount them on the trailer. It should work great.

    I spent the morning at a North Georgia Hit & Miss engine show. Not a big show and not too many Wheel Horses; TWO to be exact! Mine and a Lawn Ranger. Lots of Hit & Miss Engines. A few farm tractors. One of the more interesting pieces was a generator powered by a 1920 Kohler two cylinder overhead valve engine. There were some horse drawn implements and other interesting stuff. And a automatic Can Crusher!

    Spend about 5 hours today change oil greasing all 3 horses. Sharpen blades on 36 in RD deck and pressure washed it so I can work on rust spots tomorrow . Have to lube both decks and sharpen blades on 42 inch rd tomorrow. Hope to have picture of me with herd tomorrow for supporter cards.

    Got the pulling hitch all welded up. Crunch time now. Only 2 weeks until the first pull.

    Swapped out the seat for a shorter seat and spring. I put the original on my 1965 Economy. Needs front tires and more paint clean up and buff. I am going to try and do some pulling with it as well. Will need to make a hitch point and add some wheels off the back as a wheelie bar

    Some of you may recall I had a pretty bad workshop fire 4 years ago. We lost a lot of stuff, but I hung onto a few bits as I couldn’t part with them. Here’s one such item, a commando 8 tranny that was burned and full of water. the hubs were really seized on, my 6 ton jack failed to pull them and just stripped the 5 rods I used. So I had to use the big puller, lots of heat and a big hammer! which did the trick, then there was the ubiquitous seized hitch pin... before it finally split its not a pretty sight, however the main bearings are ok. The needle rollers and seals will need doing.

    Thought I would do a thread on this, I’m covering a commando 8 tranny that’s not pretty.... well I have a k181 that’s not so good too. the bore is seized, as it too is full of water... we couldn’t turn it over so unbolted the head. Snapping a bolt - more on that later not a pretty sight, but a block of wood and a hammer got it moving. Some of the funk you see is oil and diesel that was left in to try free it. so now it moves, it can be stripped. Both valves are rusted open, I guess there’s a bit to do!

    Still have not found any identification numbers. But after studying the parts books it looks like a Wheel horse. I’m out of town so my wife and daughter picked it for me. They did a good job of getting it into the suburban. It just fits.

    So I spent some time today getting the RJ torn down. I then cleaned all the parts to remove oil etc in prep for sand blasting. I am going to need to tear into the rear end. I have a rebuilt 58' sitting on the shelf but I cannot put that in as this is a 59' and the date code the rear shows 59'. I was able to pull carb and soak it, flush the fuel tank and the usual other stuff to get the economy running. It runs great and looks to have new valves. No smoke nor noise. I messed around with the D series rims and they fit but i needed to pull the fenders.

    Well, sold the 414-8 today, @WVHillbilly520H, @elcamino/wheelhorse, @953 nut. It went fast. Finished up the electric lift in the 312-8 and rear lift assembly. Now on to the hitch pin for my slot hitch. Pita. No lift handle here! @richmondred01 hooked me up with that, thank you. Tires and a seat and about done.

    60 degrees today so a nice day to get some work done on the tractors ! Got the tiller on the 314 all ready for working the garden thsi year. Going to do a smaller garden than ones in the past but she is all ready! Primed and painted some wheels with sawtooth General tires. Painted an RJ fender pan box and a seat spring also. Putting some repainted motor tins on an 8 HP Kohler recoil start motor. Ran two of the RJ's and the 603. Getting ready to put my mid-grader blade attachment on the 603 tonight!

    Here we go. Back with some pictures! I wish everyone that’s sold tractors to me took as good care of their stuff as this previous owner of this machine did. I’m told This machine was just serviced in the fall when the oil was changed and everything was greased, the fuel tank and carburetor we’re both drained dry for the winter and it was put away indoors. It appears to be fact. It started on the third pull and I drove around the yard without issues. The only thing needed was to have a bolt underneath the seat tightened up a bit, and that’s it. I sort of don’t know what to do with myself now, I’ve never had a machine come off the trailer and just function as was intended? This is so strange.

    Hello, I finally realized how to set the parking brake on the infamous PTO! I loosened the 5/8 bolt three or four threads, loosened the 1/4 x 20 nuts, pulled the shoe & double pulley forwards to the back of the 5/8 bolt. I tightened the 1/4 x 20 nuts holding pressure on the brake tight to the double pulley. Finally, tightened the 5/8 bolt. Viola now have a functioning brake.

    I'll be selling my lawn ranger seats and along with @953 nut also the 1054/953 seats and backs ready to install that Richard and I are Assembling at the Big Show.

    So the C195 is mine. I bought it to help literally drag the machines out of the weeds. Story goes the guy I bought from had a friend who was an old timer who used to restore old machines. I picked up an original 1959 RJ with mower deck and clinton 1290. It needs a restoration but it is all there. My son Brennan Bo wants to do his first restoration so I think this will be a perfect candidate. I also picked up a super straight 857. Has been repainted at some point but is also complete with deck. Lastly, I picked up a Economy Jim Dandy. Came with a deck but that is shot. These were in the storage shed/tent that is long gone. The old timer passed several years ago. I am happy to have saved these machines. Outside of the Wheel Horse I am partial to the Economy machines. There was a round fender (1966ish) John Deere 110. I left that pig there Some pictures before, during and after a pressure washing.....
