11 pointsNothing really unique but I use any excuse I can get to tow with the Horses.

9 pointsPaul when I had my boat I used to use my 1057 to haul it out of the garage because it was a tight fit 20' boat in a 24' space. Kinda tight. That motor in the 1057 was the best running Kohler I ever had. So smooth running and start right up every time. Thanks for the post. What started me into Wheel Horse is our first boat the dealer used to use his W/Horse to move his boats around in the show room floor and out side. He could turn them on a dime with these tractors. This was around the mid 80`s. That was the start for me.

9 pointsNot unique but an 18 tooth harrow not to common anymore. An early Wheel Horse attachment made by the Empire Plow Company in Cleaveland, Ohio for Wheel Horse.
-
8 pointsHere is a "unique" haul with a Wheel Horse - my dad's steel skid plate hauler! Log chain with ring welded on the front. This thing has been used for years to haul things without wheels ! Heavy loads just use physics -leverage! Took this to Portland, Indiana Tri-State Engine Show one time! Also my Parker Lawn Sweeper being pulled by one of my 1958 RJ's !

7 pointsWish I had a picture, but I don't. When I built my shop in Florida I had an old shed that was eight feet wide and sixteen feet long that a neighbor wanted and I needed out of the way. It was on a concrete slab and we backed my 5' X 8' trailer and 1055 inside, jacked the building up and ran planks across the trailer to support the building. The doors had been removed so down the road I went with the trailer and 1055 inside the building. From the side it looked like the building was being driven down the road. Only had to go a mile or so and it was early Saturday morning so we didn't create much of a traffic problem.

6 pointsGot the first 20 sets of cards today and I must say they turned out better than I had expected. Wonder who will have the first complete set? Oh yeah that would be yours truly. This picture does not do them justice. This is the corrected order and yes @Wallfish, Your still lucky number 13

5 pointsThe recent thread about towing a 4000lb manlift behind a horse got me to thinking. Many of us have dragged cars, boats or trailers but what about unique things. Here is my L107 working hard.
-
5 pointsNo big deal, bet you'll ALWAYS have it on the neg side now just like many of us do because the same thing happened. How do you think we recognize that symptom? Is it running good now?
-
5 pointsThe trailer is not unique but the load is. Every year I cut down the banana trees around the pool and haul them to the back of my property. Usually about five loads.
-
5 pointsTomorrow or Saturday, I'm pulling a 10ft by 20 inch oak log out from where the power company left it when they did their overhead line clearing. Then, at some point this weekend, I'm going to pull a redbud stump that grew in the wrong place, in front of my septic. I'll try to get pictures of one or both.

4 pointsHi all, A couple years back I put a fairmont railcar engine on a wheel horse C 141 frame to make a ride for hit miss engine shows. It's an eight speed hi lo So, I got another fairmont engine and am gonna make another ride. So I found a Raider 12 carcass rolling frame stripped down and parted out with an 8 speed trans. As I look online I see that these had a ten pinion no slip set up that people say are weaker? Should I proceed with frame I have? Or do I need to find a stronger trans? The set up is basically a ride for shows that has a double seat for two people heres a link to the first one I built so you can get an idea of what I am building

4 pointsThe 1962 502 came with a Tecumseh HT 55C-3088P engine. It was a pull start with the round 13 hole seat. This horse is model "62" serial 18107. The transmission is a WH # 5025 3 speed. The engine serial # 12624. Before Restoration:: After Restoration by JoeBob::

4 points@ACman I would have quoted you but I don’t need to see my picture again. 😁 Nice to meet all of you and had a good chat to boot. Too bad you couldn’t have stayed longer. Hope to see you at the show.

4 pointsIt’s like déjà vu seeing this pic....like I was just there. Oh yeah it was just last week sitting under that nice shade tree BS’ing . Had a fun time Rich and thanks for your hospitality. For us guys it was the highlight of the trip just getting away from all the people in Orlando.

4 pointsThat would be a 5060 transmission and although you really won't the need the limited slip feature I would see no reason not to use it. They were a very strong unit with 1 1/8 axles. My biggest concern would be what does it look like internally. If you are skilled enough to build that you are skilled enough to split it for and inspection and cleaning. Perhaps replace the outboard axle bearings, seals if need be & check the 1533's. check the differential side plates as some were made of aluminum and prone to cracking if some one else was in there and over torqued them. Bearings and seals can be found here http://www.wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/index.html The other thing you may want to do in your build is inspect & reinforce the F plate area, where the frame attached to the tranny. Been know to be a weak area and you will find many ways to beef it up here. Good luck and we would appreciate some of your build!

4 pointsMost of the bulbs that are marketed for sale in the United States are marked with voltage and amperage limitations. In the past I have had bad experiences with halogen bulbs melting or deforming plastic lenses or housings. Personally, I would be more concerned that they will be too hot by temperature. Not too hot by Electric draw. Just keep an eye for plastic deformation but you should be fine.

4 pointsI used to have a 8 by 16 diamond plate dual axle car trailer that I pulled around the yard with my 876 about 12 years ago or so no pics but I do have some of the 876 pulling my 7 by 12 trailer loaded with topsoil

3 pointsToday since it was rather decent weather to try and clean up the property line behind the house, it's running over with virginia creeper (vines) and honey suckle(wife is super allergic when it blooms) so I began with a chainsaw cutting what I could get to then using the eMax to push it back into the "jungle" it will also help while mowing along there, FYI most of what you see in the pics was actually hanging in the trees as a couple black walnuts are also coming down tired of mowing them every fall (rough on the blades as well as the acid from the hulls ain't good on the paint), Jeff.

3 pointsTake it easy on the guy Jim, the wife is cracking the whip about his yard work so he'll get to it.

3 pointsSome days I feel like the windshield. But some days I feel like the BUG. They say that a man learns through his mistakes. If that is true......then I am on my way to becoming the next Eienstein BTW: It now runs like a stripped a#&@* ape. (OLD NAVY TERM) Thanks guys Bob

3 pointsJust a bump. It's real close to me so heading over in the morning about 8am with the WH Bike and most of my Homelite XL tool collection. If anyone makes it over be sure to stop by say hello. Also using this as a local advertising opportunity and using the company van which is sporting some beautiful new vinyl lettering made by our own vinylguy Terry.

3 pointsWrapping up this thread: I forgot to take a pic before putting it back together. I found a small round nylon brush with a screwdriver handle and that got between fins and stuff. Used some Purple Power degreaser, but didn't spend much time cleaning it up - too much tedious work! So, with a new coil, a new wire and connector attached to the coil, an oil change & oil filter change, a new foam air pre-filter, and a battery charge, it fired right up. Aerated the lawn last night with my "new to me" Agrifab spike aerator and plan to fertilize this weekend. Yea, seat time!

3 pointsTerry, this is an excellent idea and (as Karl said) an excellent opportunity to update the "Picture Gallery" on the main page. As all know, Photobook has basically devastated the Picture Gallery. I have been trying to put it back together and to clean it up from the (what are now) worthless posts. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/17-wheel-horse-picture-gallery/ I would suggest that members upload their pictures there, in the appropriate place. Pictures should show both sides, front and rear of the horse. Please show or type the model number so we can be accurate about the year and horse. Post your picks, even if there may be other pictures posted...remember...the pictures should be of correct, from the factory, horses. Both, old patina and restored horses are welcome. Terry would then have choices of pictures to use.

3 pointsDon't think you'll have a problem with that trans for what you're doing. Trans is strong enough but not recommended for maybe setting up as a puller where it's going to be worked HARD.

3 pointsI personally think 1/4 of his asking price is high. He'll probably have to leave that to somebody in the family down the road.

3 pointsWell, I decided to go with the JB Weld option, and install a new bronze oillight bushing. I figure, if it works, it works. If it doesn’t, I’m going to take it apart and try that two bolt flange operation a couple of posts north of this one. That one requires a lot more work than this one, and if this one works, that’s fine by me. This is pretty much the exact same piece as what came out, except this one is that self lubricating centered bronze stuff, and the one that came out was plastic. Surprisingly, it did not have flat spots on either side, so I’m not sure what was going on there and why it wore out the dashboard so much with just a piece of plastic rubbing on the dashboard… I could understand if it was metal, but plastic? This is how it looks right now, so when everything dries up and hardens, I’ll drop the steering shaft back out-of-the-way, and grind everything down flat and make it nice.

2 pointsSome of these models were sold in Europe where they continued to use the Raider name for a few years after 1972. Toro identifies the 1-0350 as a Raider and we have some of the serial numbers for these but totally different from the North American serials. Click on the picture Garry

2 pointsMy son had no idea, and most of the time, it would never be a problem. Just want to let the OP know, just in case! Randy

2 pointsSomething worth Noting about Wheel Horse/Toro Clutch Springs Interesting thing about these Wheel Horse clutch springs. The original 1014 spring is shorter than the replacement 108035. My clutch spring on my 603 (red one missing one end rusted off in photo) was a little wider than the 83-2730 (a later replacement) and the current clutch spring version 108035 is really too long to properly clutch that transmission. Yes, you can adjust the brake band but not enough on the 603 version. I do have a couple of the 83-2730 versions that are New Old Stock but I also note then are a little narrower on the spring as seen in my photo this from this morning.

2 pointsBoth ! It has to be both ! I'll try to dig up some pics of ours. We've moved a bunch of wood loads, quite a few small logs dragged, a rock about 3 feet across on a piece of plywood, nothing super unusual though.

2 pointsI pulled an old refrigerator through the lawn to take it out to the scrap pile. The c-81 had no trouble the turf tires didn’t spin at all. Don’t have any pics sorry.
