No C-130 involved so the Commando wasn't prop blasted but she was airborne. She was a roller I bought several years ago. Tore her down last fall sand blasted and paints most the parts. (Hood and fender are only primed), has not been painting weather lately. Been reassembling her over the last few weeks on a table in the heated part of the shop, with lots of interruptions for snow removal, power outages etc. She is now ready to roll out for a test firing carb adjustment etc. (If the weather ever improves...it snowed this morning.) time to jump off the work table AIRBORNE!!!!

That what the Mrs was calling it anyway & grandkids sure do like it! She hopped on the trailer on the way back from another score. Never tell a buyer you got it for free from a guy you work with.. "I have a new battery & belt, & oil change in it" seller says. So I offer what he has into the battery and belt & oil and he takes it without hesitation. Now I know not a bucket list tractor but still kinda cool. I was hoping for an older Lawn Skiff labeled one but this one will have to do for now. From what I gather this one is an early 80's. ID tag is worn off so who knows. If anyone knows a way to bring those numbers back to readable let me know. Does have a unique right angle drive train. My intentions were to strip the deck off, a little re-pully for speed and the Mrs can use it for running around at tractor shows on and pulling tubs. Having second thoughts now cuts grass pretty good. All it needs is a front tire tube, clutch spring & a bath. Runs good and starts no smoke. Them old Briggs seem to go forever. Does steer a little hard so may put some tri-ribs on the front but if I do that I would have to find some ags for the rear. If I did that @PeacemakerJack is gonna wanna hook a plow up to it somehow and put it in a furrow! Deck safety switch is just flopping around so if anyone has a pic of how it was attached I'd appreciate it.

Here's a picture of my Reo RR-46 I purchased it from a Wheel Horse dealer about 12-15 years ago. It was N.O.S. Not kidding, it was in a dealers back barn. This dealer bought out another dealer and it came with the package. Has some surface rust but underneath looks BRANDNEW. I brought it home got it running (it never had gas in it!) mowed a for about 30 seconds with it to see how well it worked. Since then I just take it out every few years and drive it around. Probably has no more than 2 hours on it now. I've never seen another with tiller steer and solid non-pneumatic front tires. I might bring it to the big show this year.

Just pickedup this poor ole girl. Transmission is bad but motor is good. One new front tire. Complete set of hub caps that need cleaned. Nice deck that spins good. The really good is a sickle bar. Does have a bent mule drive bracket which will get fixed. Drive pulley was a little stuck but got it to spin. Not a bad haul for Friday but my poor truck isn'

I love it Jim! I wouldn't mind adding one of those to my collection. The one I have is a bit small.

As some of you are aware, a few weeks ago I picked up a couple of basket case 8hp Horses, a B80 and a 8hp 4 speed. Now that the 8hp 4 speed is running well, I figured it was time to look at the B80. I got it into my workshop and started the initial exam. Everything is covered in peeling red barn paint. All the control cables are rust frozen. The fuel line is dry rotted. The transmission is lubricated with ice. The wiring is...questionable. The engine is not seized. The metal is mostly straight, though there is some rust. Tonight I managed to do the initial exam, loosen up the throttle cable and governor linkage, remove the fuel tank, and remove a critter nest from behind the dash. So far I see nothing but...potential?

Posting a few photos of my own ( Onan P216 - 416H ) to answer the question. PO said the tractor never ran well.

I made a little progress today with the parking brake. This is what I came up with. Still need to trim the handle and make a little adjustment.

Installed the Jack on my Horse Hauler last week. Got the battery, dedicated trickle charger and Wiring to External AC ran today. Just in time as I’m headed west in AM to meet up with two new owners for these horses.

#14 is reserved. Who is brave enough to take 13? I think I will reserve it for a special added card

Now you know why I had to go from WHX12 to WHX14! Meant buying that extra tractor but oh well I can live with it!

While products like Sea Foam have their place, I find disassembly is the only long term fix. Dissolving that mess with snake oil, and sending it thru whatever, is making the problem worse.

I had a question about a statement I made in a for sale post and it was requested that I explain what I meant by saying the tractor had a "Turning Brake Kit". If you look at the picture below you can see the two pedals that allow you to break each wheel independently of each other. This is a feature that is on larger tractors so that if you have one wheel start to loose traction you can apply the break to the spinning wheel to get traction to the other wheel. I have the original price list for the tractor which shows what the gentleman that purchased it chose for his options and they had it listed as "Turning Brake Kit". I guess they called it that since if you applied the brake to one side it could help you to turn more quickly.

Notice no pic of Sparky's card. Must be he didn't want to scare anybody off. Get to the show early. The line for my "Meet & Greet" with autographs is bound to be a long one!

I need a little more time Terry. Three more 2 hour sessions at the Beauty Shop and I should be ready for the photo shoot. Squonky Mike has set the bar pretty high.

That is a good ace in the hole plan, if you arrive and find the weather forecast isn't too promising you know you'll have a dry place to sleep. Last year Friday night was a bit rough as I recall, might want to add another night to that reservation.

Mine won't he as highly prized as Mike's @squonk but I'm sure surprised that more members haven't jumped on board. Terry @Vinylguy has given us some great gifts over the years and this will help us get to know one-another a little better. And it is FREE!

Started working on the exhaust. Got the wiring mostly finished up, I need to get a battery and battery cables still yet. Round 2 of the dash decal was a success 👍 Started working on fenders, there are a few dents i would like to fix. Looks like somebody at some point tryed to pick the rear end up by the fenders in the back. Ive got it pretty close to where it should be. Also drilled some new seat pan holes, previous owner didnt do a very good job there lol. I glued the new brake lining in. Used gorilla glue, although messy it worked good. I havnt searched around yet but if anyones got a pic of throttle cable routing I would appreciate it And one more question, is there a minimum thickness for the pto clutch disc?

There's a hole in the hood below the throttle lever for a switch.(if the hood wasn't cut off) Run that wire from the coil to a switch which grounds the connection to the hood. They can be found on epay as chainsaw switch.
  45. 2 points
Couple things come to mind. Pto switch circuit and a bad ground. Do you have a test light or multimeter? Did you run a continuity test with key on to see if there's power going through the pto switch? Have you push/pulled the pto on/off to be sure it's working the switch correctly? Or... when was the last time ALL the terminal connections were removed and cleaned?

Take the thing to any welding shop that works on ag equipment - they will have it apart in no time, these guys deal with splne coupling heads all the time and know what to heat and what not to heat to pull it apart. Might want to take a copy of the drawing with you - it will show them how the sleeve works since they are opposite of other types of equipment. Most times it's either hardened grease or some of the splines are notched from wear. He might have to run a bead around the outside to expand it , but it won't hurt anything. Sarge
