Sweet little cabin! Got the Harley and wheel horses, thats my kind of vacation! About 10 years ago my great uncle and I took his HDs out for a nice day ride through amish country PA. We ended up at bills bike barn I think it was called. All kinds of vintage harleys and indians. I dont remember what town it was in but he lived near by it. If I were to get one of those new fancy 4 door ford f150's I would for sure bring my fresh raider but thats probably not gonna happen lol. That being said, I want a rj and im that guy who would buy it and take it all apart in the parking and put it in the trunk of the chevy sonic 😁

Doing some work in 38 degree sunshine today! Selling snowblower, paining three speed transmission, redoing some brake shoes and airing out three of the horses, the 701, 702 and 603 today! Have tp glue the pad back on two brake bands and set asisde to dry. Priming the three speed transmission. Going to prime my RJ belt guard for one of my two RJ redo projects.

I reached a point where I chased down a oil leak and repaired it. It was a bit more involved than I expected but 24oz morning coffee must have not been Decaf. I powerwashed the 416H first then I removed the side tins to find more oily mess and buildup. Cleaned all of that up and wrapped a few paper towels around the cleaned up hydraulic hoses and put the tins back on. The Pics are after the first powerwashing cleaning. Ran the 416H with the loader for a few weeks watching for leaks . The Onan engine oil was the only low fluid, engine ran perfectly with no issuses, smoke or noises. The oil drain fittings were covered and leaking. Trying to remove them was plain fun. The short piece going from the oil drain cap to the 90 degree fitting was unwilling to turn out no matter how I tried. The length from the 90 to the engine crankcase was just plain loose at both ends, the draining length would just rotate up and down with no wrench, super loose. Engine oil had leaked for so long that it completely migrated over, under and to the rear of the tractor. No hydraulic hose leaks at all. I had thought the axle seals or hydro were leaking given all the crud covering hydro when I first cleaned it up. Of course in operation the hydro fan had helped to spread the oil nicely. Tried all the tricks mentioned to tighten the oil drain fittings but was afraid just torquing ( to remove ) on the oil drain short pipe end was really bending the pipe length after the 90 going to the engine side crankcase. I did not want to damage the crankcase (crack it) itself so the i hooked up the hoist and had to lift the engine out to fix the problem. End of the story is it's was the easiest oil and filter change I ever did. Installed new oil drain fittings rather snuggly for the oil drain line. Truthfully if was a full day at it to repair it. The PO had no clue. I found after pulling the tins that he had sprayed White Lithium grease over the oily crud to lubricate everything. Amazing how oil and grease really keep the rust down on an unkept machine. Enjoy the pics.

And make a weekend get-a-way to the big wheel horse show! Plan to go to the show friday and then hit hershey park sat and head back on sunday. How many fellow red square members are going to be there? Looks like good times from all of the pictures ive seen. I cant wait to check out all the cool stuff in person! 👍

So I decided to book a room for Wed night at the comfort inn to join up with you guys for dinner and a few drinks. We do plan on camping the other two nights. The boy is all for it since he gets to take an extra day off from school if we go Wed.

. Did that one year and was fun. Too bad you don't have more time to check out other areas like Gettysburg and such. We took a whole week off and explored the country side on motor bike! Found a nice cabin to home base out of & campground sure did like my little red tractors running around giving tub rides. Best day of the show is always Thursday I think. I mIght make a speed run this year not sure yet. Are you taking any tractors? If so are consider a extra spot for one that wants to hop on and go home with you!

Second that

Attached the excellent Maynard brake linings with Goop to my babies and got to test the 125 yesterday - sweetness. Took the 42" deck for its weld last week and finally got to looking closely at the arbors with the intent of replacing the bearings. It was just a matter of applying grease the old fashioned way - hand and finger pressure. They're all good. Deck goes back together this weekend with the help of 36" deck mount hardware sitting nearby - less worn. The 36" came with the 120 which is another example of extreme red-necking requiring some weld breaking so it can steer straight. Too many beers and a hot torch make for bad steering. They wanted side discharge , too, so, hey, just cut the deck and add a chute - done! All in fun. Super strong engine and good trans so she will be saved as functional, just not super shiny like the black hood. Weekend coming!

Thanks Everyone and even if it seems weird, please just call me by my member name: Jake. We got about 4 inches but with near 20 mile per hour winds, the drift got up to a foot in some areas while other areas were cleared down to an inch or so. A lot of it melted by late afternoon. Not enough to plow. Felt bad for all the robins in my front yard scratching at the few patches of dirt where winds and melt opened up some areas of grass.

Another year or two and we'll all be heading down on Tuesdays to make Wednesdays a full prep day for set up day. @stevebo You're gonna get spoiled in hotel bed, nice hot private shower, breakfast without having to cook it, no worries about rain or wind, ect. ect. You'll be booked in a hotel for 2019.

Hello Red Square forum members, I'm an old dog, and my master is an old guy who is so old school, he doesn't have internet access. I have to go down to town and use the Wifi at McDonalds. Fortunately the signal is strong enough in the parking lot ( they don't let me inside ). My master has several Wheel Horses, all oldies but goodies. A non runner is a big gamble, especially an automatic that you can not test. I do prefer the hydros for all my work, especially for blowing and plowing snow. Good decks with no rust thru, good spindles, blades, belt, and working belt tensioner are easily worth 2-300 bucks. The blade, frame, and axle bracket are worth 150-200$. I am not a fan of the rocker plate engine tractors, but they perform OK. I just think all tractors should have a solid engine mount and I don't see any less vibration in the rubber mounted engines. If the tractor were running so I could check the hydro by chaining it to a tree and running it hot in forward and reverse while spinning the tires and the tractor was clean, I would say 4-500 bucks for the tractor. With out being able to test the engine and tranny the price has to be much less. But with two good decks and a complete dozer 4-500 for the package would be tops.

What do you suppose he uses this toilet brush for that is hanging on the lift arm?

Had the same problem on a 520. Nipple was wicked loose in the block. Yes can't swing the elbow without hitting the frame. You went the whole hog route Pup. I just removed the mounting bolts and used a pry bar to lift the engine just enough to remove, re-pipe tape and snug back in. I used a new nipple just in case the old threads were boogered but probably didn't have to. Threads in block looked good.

The year before last I think we had nearly 70 in the group picture...

Today I took some time to clean up the 520LXI mower. Did the typical PM on it and worked on the rear weight bracket. I thought I would mention that I tried Miller's tire paint on the plastic wheel weights and it worked very well. I also coated the steering wheel. Nice little clean up. I repainted this machine when I got it a few years ago. Two years ago I got a 60" deck with original paint which is pretty faded now. I think I will give it a quick worker repaint before I put it on. I love this machine!

I pulled mine outside today and stretched there legs a bit, once I finished up the 401. Figured it was nice day so let the kids drive them around awhile. Also tore down a parts machine today.

WOW!! is that thing ugly, or what!! One day I was closing up the shop and noticed one justa burrowing, grabbed a garden trowel (it was handy!) and flipped the critter out. Put my #13 boot on it to keep from running away --- That little thing was lifting my whole weight up, I do believe if I could have balanced on him it couldve supported me - amazingly strong!

You want the pump to run with the ignition switch in the RUN and START positions. You can see in the switch description the only 2 terminals common in each position are the R and I. The R is not used in this application so that is one place you could add a fused supply for the fuel pump. The special female terminal with a tang that will lock into the plastic ignition switch wire holder is available from automotive jobbers. Garry

Besides the automatically backed up copies do you not back it up on a regular basis? I back it up everyday on two different devices, one automatically done also. Problems with this program would definitely be catastrophic. Any issues I only have to restore back up of same day or at worse the day before. That way nothing major needs to be reconstructed. I never really looked for any user groups, but in the distant past I spent a lot of time speaking to tech support over issues or quirks I did not understand. They were very helpful all the time. Most if not all of the problems I ever had always happened when it was upgraded to a new version.

Hey brothers. I thought that I would help you out if you prefer the use of rattle can paint from Rustoleum. I wanted to try a big project of 4 tractors --all the wheels at once. The only way I can do it in less than ideal weather is to heat both the wheel in front of an electric heater and the paint in some hot water Here is a run-down of the products i used and why I used them. Rustoeum Professional primer just rocks! They make a red oxide and also a gray [#7582] which might be a Menard's number for $5.00. It is 15 ounces and the thing about it is it goes on thick enough that one spray coat will cover. The spray tip is larger, so you have to work fast. Leave the thin spots alone until it sets to avoid runs. I can spray a wheel dish in 30 seconds with this stuff after spraying the tire bead first.. I did 4 tractors front and rear --16 wheels with only two cans [ dishes and tire beads on the back side] Next, the wheel paint itself. I used Rustoleum painters touch 2X Ultra Cover Satin. It is so much better than the regular paint that Rustoleum sells. It sprays thicker without so much solvent mist and does not run very easily.. Probably your best bet is to spray a full cover coat, wait 25 minutes and hit it again to bring it to a gloss.It will dry to touch in only three hours or so even in 50 degree weather The only drawback is that the full contents of the can might not spray the greatest, So use the last bits on the back side of the wheels. That may be due to my heating the full can in hot water and then not heating it again as it cooled The satin is the stuff to use because it is run resistant to a greater degree than gloss. I used 249076 Satin Heirloom White. I think it has that perfect off white/yellow tint like OEM, but not quite as yellow as the Almond. This paint costs less than standard Rustoleum......and the product goes twice as far. 4 to 5 cans should do 3 sets of tractor wheels. I like a more sealed finish, so I added Rustoleum clear coat in semi-gloss. The wheel came out beautifully. Using this method works well because i think it is worth it for small stuff or jobs like this that are stop and start. Spraying out of a gun would be out of the question in these conditions

Classic but OK for a "git her home" fix. Heard tell some guys run a dollar bill through them for quick clean but have no idea behind the theory on that. Maybe George is just lucky!?!?

I would like to mention that I also use a 4 foot shop light that I mounted verticle to the floor on a stand. I just zip tied it to the pipe. It puts out a lot of light down low instead of everything overhead. That combined with my handheld LED light pretty much gets it done for me. Randy

Well, I'm having coyote problems on the farm. One howled at me a couple of weekends ago from about 30 yards above me on a ridge. Now, I'm trying to trap them with steel traps. Boogers are pretty sharp - they've robbed one of my sets about 4 nights and tripped the trap twice and no luck catching them. Anyway, Emory rode his blackhood with me to check them today. He had a blast (he gets a little serious as you can see by the look on his face). He's a little too light to get traction real well on uneven ground. I found a set of nos Trac weights on fleabay for only about $44 shipped. They look to have never even been filled. Hopefully it will help him go a little better!
