12 pointsThere's an old race track near my home (20 minutes away) and for the last 54 years on Easter Sunday (if weather permitting) have held a "Funny Car" show and usually female racing legend Bunny Burkett has shown for at least half that time driving her funny car, her team was there today as well as her(just not driving anymore), I have taken my boy a couple times but today was the first time for my step son, I'll share a few pics and videos from today @Achto a LUV truck just for you too, @ACman a couple G-bodys, Jeff. 11 pointsThis posting ought to stir some big interest... Wheel Horse Dealer Trade In Price List for the 1963 model tractors and a listing from the January 1963 Argosy magazine of the prices of 1963 automobiles sold in the United States. A good reference point on value of a Wheel Horse tractor compared to the price of a car in 1963. Many of these Wheel Horse tractors wer valued at 10% of the price of a new car in 1963! Something to keep in mind!

10 pointsAssembly was going so smoothly that I for got to take many progression pictures. I slowed down when I got to the decals though because I wanted to share my method of installing them with you. First pic is the decal as received from the supplier. I usually like to work with the top of a decal but the nice strait line along the bottom of this decal made me choose to work with the bottom. You will notice that I drew a line along the bottom of the decal, I did this because the white on white edge was hard to see. Next I trimmed the paper off along the edge of the decal. After trimming then I put a strip of masking tape, half on the decal / half off along my trimmed edge. I stop the tape short of the ends of the decal, this allows me to be able to see the ends of the decal for alignment. Next I clean the surface with glass cleaner. Now I can use the masking tape to hold my decal in place. I position the decal and take measurements and reposition until I'm completely happy with the location. Once the location is perfect then I press the masking tape down tight a long the full length of the decal. Next step is to fold the decal down using the masking tape as a hinge. Now I clean the paint surface again with glass cleaner. Now I remove the backing from the decal and fold it back into place. Starting in the center of the decal I work all of the air out towards the outer edges. This method works very well for me. As for the rest of the tractor? Well, if I hadn't procrastinated so long with my hubs I could have been able to go for a cruise. I have finally decided what I'm going to do with my hubs, hope to share that soon. No hubs, no ride but I was able to fire engine and watch the paint cure on the exhaust stack.Ooooo,Ahhhh As long as it was running I worked all of the air out of the hydraulics and ran through all of the gears on the tranny. So far every thing checks out great. Very happy with the way that my belt guard for the hydro pump turned out.

7 pointsWell Jim, I looked outside and saw the Easter bunny was frozen stiff (10 degrees outside here this morning!) with his paws around the neck of Puxatony(sp) Phil (the ground hog) for predicting that spring would ever come to this part of the country BEFORE Easter Our tradition is to hide the kids baskets: Calebs was in the empty recyclables bin and included... a real framing hammer and utility knife for working with me this summer framing houses. Claudias was in the front closet and contained artistry stuff cause she enjoys that. Judge found his in the dryer and it had the cartoon “Wreck it Ralph” which he really wanted. Last but not least, Zach found his in the scrapbooking chest and it had an inflatable punching bag that he really wanted and the boys are pounding on right now as I write this!!! Of course every basket was loaded with all the typical candies that are enjoyed at Easter. We had had great services this morning and now are enjoying fun with the family!! God bless you all on this special holiday!

7 pointsSo, in continuation from post #351 above... is the carb, removed from an overnight stint in the Berryman's chem dip. Drilled and tapped for an original air cleaner... May not be the be the best looking carb I've ever done... but, should be very presentable nevertheless. Still haven't decided, might just paint the engine assembly as a whole... with the carb pre-installed...for more of a factory original appearance.

7 pointsHappy Easter! They are calling for 2-6" of snow here tonight...Hmm, could the Weather Channel be pulling an April Fools prank on us?
-
7 pointsPut my repaired deck under Coyote today. Works great! That $50 C125 I bought at auction just keeps on giving! Emory got his Christmas from it, I put the wider rear tires on my 857, and now Coyote got it's deck!

6 pointsHad a quarter of the herd in today .... I was multitasking.. which in WHX16 speak means I probaly didn't get a damn thing done on any of them! Actually got the new to me 1077 stripped down for a power bath and find out what needs to be done to make a daily user. More on that in my 1277?? thread. Dug in the new to me A-81 and aquaint myself with her some. Grand kids sure did like it. Also consumated the deal with my main man @Rp.wh on a trade on this nice little 401 for a 416 trade. Not sure who got the short end of the stick here yet but check out the muff.... may have to throw that on Fleabay.... NOT!

4 pointsIts's a Century Fox labeled ....Dan's quicker on the trigger Dick..... Big question is I hope you you are not gonna have any 2nd thoughts about sticking that work of art down in a furrow and getting it dirty. You might make Josh curse if you don't and you know how Christian he is! I would be willing to guess your load for shows this year is going to be that, a 1076, a rat rod and a McLean???

4 pointsIn 1955 the paint that was used was Lead Based paint. You will have to do what the rest of us do, use the Acrylic Enamels which are used widely today. As for color, pick out the RED that you like, lots of shades and lots of opinions. As to what was and wasn't painted when it left the factory in 1955, who knows for certain? I doubt that anyone on this site worked at the South Dixie Way factory in 1955 and most vintage photos don't show that kind of detail. One thing for sure, if you want to stir up a hornets nest around here just make a definitive statement about anything claiming "this is the way it was". The folks with the contrary point of view will be along any minute. I would suggest that you attend the "Big Show" and talk to everyone who has a '55 RJ and take lots of . Once you have developed a consistence of what is and isn't right for your you can feel good about the research you did. The important thing is that you enjoy the people you will meet while there. Aftreall, that is what it is all about.

4 pointsThis is my restored 55'. I think you will find it is pretty close to original. I had to restore it as it was brush painted with red oxide primer when I bought it. I have since replaced the front tires with correct 55' front tires.
-
4 pointsYou guys might be onto something there. Color choice was pretty much me just being. ..me. I ain't quite right and I'm ok with it. HAD to have something different, unique. We went to the big orange Box store. Stood in the paint aisle. Decided that this color "didn't suck" ... so we bought it.

4 pointsThes are some interesting items I found under the seat pan under ungodly piles of mouse nest and grass clippings! This was a plastic bag everthing was in .....note the only $ ... meant to hang on a tractor lift lever or whatnot.
-
4 pointsMeasure the ACV across the two leads from the stator. Should be about 30V at WOT and vary directly with RPM.
-
3 pointsAhhh ..thanks for the schooling..... my has that stamp too but never dawned on me holes could be swapped around!
-
3 pointsCant forget the smell of spent 110+ octane racing fuel and alcohol ...high temp for the day was 50° overcast and windy but now I think I got the step-son thinking more muscle car than import tuner, either way all fun turning a wrench here and there...

3 pointsThe Cinnamon color is like a “Mauve” but you don’t sound like you are throwing up when you say it. Besides.... who wants a tractor named Mauve? Should look good all done up with those colors. Definitely something different.

3 pointsEither way if it doesn't rub. They were on the inside from the factory so the wheel weights (without a groove for the stem) could be mounted plus they're not as exposed to getting damaged
-
3 pointsTim, I have them in stock. Genuine Cole-Hersee 70 exact replacement of the original. $40.00 to your door. Regards, David

3 pointsGot her in the shop, deck off and ready for a bath found some good things found some bad. The usual of undoing cobbles of previous PO's.The battery tray is toasted but can be saved. Hood is bent up and doesn't line up with the dash well and maybe the hardest thing to fix without doing a full resto. Slot hitch is frozen and will prove a challenge. Bonus... lift cable is free and works! Heres that decal on the tank tray @Racinbob... mercedes benz!.......nice to know a PO had a sence of humor! He sure did like to scribble things on it with a sharpie! It's always interesting, to me anyway, to wonder what somebody might have been thinking back in the day when they did their fixes. Did they did they wonder some 40-50 years later some idiots like us would be trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear and puttting the time, effort and money into these tractors that we do? Enjoy the pics.....

3 pointsNice loader here is mine! Gonna get some dirt and stone this week to put it to work?
-
3 pointsChanged the trans fluid for the 4th? time today. Looks acceptable for the season. Need to get some wheel seals in from Lowell S. for that. Hubs arrived from @A-Z Tractor. They'll be painted soon and installed. My honey trimmed the foam for the seat and layed out the vinyl. Anndd....... I did a bit of painting !!!! * * I'm going to warn the color purists. It isn't red. But it's a color no other manufacturers use that I know of. I chose a satin to be more forgiving of the rough surface. Tank and wheels will be Navajo white.
