12 pointsSo I went this morning and rescued these two horses and a brinly cultivator. Theres a 1964 lawn ranger and 1962 552. I'm gonna see how bad the 552 is. Cause I recently picked up another 552 that was a parts machine as well. I even got the original bill of sale for the one serial number.

7 pointsIt is getting close to “spring cleaning” here in the Cheddar State notwithstanding the fact that they are talking around 10” of the white stuff in northern Wisconsin over the next 36 hours! So today, we used JackRabbit to pull the wagon and haul some wood related trash back to the burn pit... Zach was loving going for a ride and helping his big brother throw the junk out. I needed to move GhostRider out of the shed again to access some of the stuff that needed to be cleaned out. So, I decided to take my first ever pic of the two tractors together... my favorite photo bombs got in on the action then Judge took GhostRider for a drive around the yard. I need to say here that I really like the seat on JackRabbit. I’m going to reserve full judgment on it until I spend a couple hours mowing with it—if Caleb lets me!!!

6 pointsWent out to look over what was at the local FFA consignment auction today, There was 8 or so Wheel Horse tractors there. A couple of 68 Electro 12's, a 71 Charger 12, a couple of C120's, A 69 Raider 12, an 8hp w/rear discharge deck. A rusty 60 or so w/3 piece tranny, hood there, looked like belt guard was in the box of stuff. Correct engine gone, had a deck with it. Front of hood dented in, tank still there. A snowblower, but I could not find a tag on it. I don't think any of these have ran for a good while. Deck in various stages of disrepair. I think I will go see what they sell for tomorrow.

6 pointsWhat do you all think about a touch of flare. I just love all the modifications and personal touches everyone puts into their tractors to make them their own. My personal taste when I restore a tractor is to put back to factory original. I like to see them when they were shiny new. So I ventured off my factory original way of thinking and tried hydro dipping I only had two pieces done. But I think they turned out great. Just want to make it mine like you guys who do heavy modifications do. Like I said before I love all the modifications and thinking out of the box and I can really appreciate all the talent and time put into these tractors. Please do what makes you happy and whatever you do. DON’T LET THEM GO TO THE SCRAP YARD!!!

6 pointsI'm lucky that at the age of 10, Emory really enjoys his horses. He sees the value in older things. Given the choice between an antique or something new, he always chooses something old! A friend offered him a special horse the other day at a very fair price. Now, he's willing to look at his herd and sell one or two to fund the purchase. I'll post more on what the horse is as well as his for sale items in a few weeks.

6 pointsFinished putting a mower deck under my 857 last night. The lights are some I had. Someone had punched holes in the hood long before I bought it, so no harm, no foul mounting them. Got a pic of Emory's cart after I got it Rhino lined and painted. I needed to mow the yard, so I got out the 68 Lawn Ranger. Had to pull start it because the battery is dead, but after several pulls the Ole Tecumseh roared to life. Drove around in circles for a while and now I feel much better!

5 pointsThanks. Emory likes to use his cart and I thought what better way to protect it and make it last for many more years. Getting it lined and painting it was his birthday present. I figured that was better than something he would grow tired of after a few days or even tear up.

4 pointsCalled my OPE guy and gave him the # . He says I am the only guy who ever bought one and they don't stock it. Tried McMaster-Carr. They had them for $10. I call them and ask is that for a pack. He says no only 1. Tried Grainger They had a 10 pack for $11.80 I went that route as I have an acct. with them and 2 day shipping. Gotta believe McMaster was a pack price too they just didn't know it. I guess the seals really were shot!

4 pointsThank you everyone, I finally found the issue. The molex connector below the oil filter was toasted, and as is always the case it was turned just right so the melted bits where perfectly hidden until I started poking around with a test light. Luckily I had a molex that I never ended up using for the car that was perfect....now on to figuring out if I have a fuel issue or if it just needs to prime.

4 pointsYears ago I had a little fun with one of the guys at the local Sears. I was walking thru the tractors and mowers, just taking a look at what they had. A salesman approached me and asked "are you looking for a tractor?" I just looked at him and said, "yeah, do you have any?" He went on to help someone else.

3 pointsI'm very lucky to lead a life that I rarely "need" decompression. ... Life is good. Still do love riding around for no apparent reason. Perhaps I'll move a snowbank out of the way so I can take the B80 for a yard cruise tomorrow.

2 pointsI did. Drained it, flushed with diesel, put two quarts of diesel fuel in it, drove it around, drain, repeat x2, then I put two quarts of 5w30 in it, drove it around, drained. Then it was time to go to work, so I opened the bottle of gear oil, stuck the nipple down in the dip stick hole, poked a hole in the bottom, and left it. I made sure it wasn’t running out before I left, but there was just a small drizzle coming out of the bottle( it was 43 degrees out) I’ll do the second quart tomorrow. I also picked up the front of the tractor and tipped it back pretty far while I drained it each time. All suggestions I gathered from here

2 pointsThe Wheel Horse god stopped by my house last night! I went out this morning to spray the PTO again and pry and tap (hit it). after doing that a few times I discovered that the pulley was turning real easy, you could actually spin it. I thought what are the odds that the clutch is working now. So I put the belt back on, put the bolt back in, plugged it in, started it, drum roll........ the clutch/pto seems to work fine. I cycled it several times and it turned on and shut off every time. Now when I sprayed PB on it, I only sprayed the very top of the shaft allowing it to puddle on top of the clutch next to the shaft. I don't think me spraying had anything to do with the clutch working now. It would have to be tapping on it. What do you guys think? Anyway I'm glad it's working!!! Thanks again for all the help with this!

2 pointsDrilling it out to 3/4" is easier than restoring a beat up one. a little heat will do the trick and save it for a member building a Rat Rod After a year of doing a "Tractor of the Week" thread you would be known as WHX66! That is what I was thinking too. They probably had a bin of them left over from '65 and used them up too. The Ponds certainly gave us a lot to talk about due to their thrifty nature! I don't know, but doubt that any of us were on the assembly line at 515 West Ireland Road in 1967 so we don't know for sure what is actually authentic, we just know what we have seen on most of the '67 we have seen. As @RandyLittrell said, sure makes for an interesting thread!

2 pointsGrass cutting season always makes me chuckle when I see the 'Land Gurus' looking at 'tractors' at Lowes or Home Cheapo. 40+ years ago, purchased a Crapsman. Friend laughed and left. Returned later with my first Horse. Sold the thingy. My first Horse and my oldest son (now 50'ish).

2 pointsI'm only 27 and I have had the exact same experiences. Now don't everyone go hating on me, but I mow my grass every week with a Cub 102 that belonged to my wife's grandfather. Great tractor, runs like a champ, cuts nice. My neighbor has a brand new Cub Cadet he got last spring and makes fun of what he calls "my old jaloppy"...........what does he know about tractors lol

2 pointsSalesman was probably 20 years younger than your horses... The problem of course is that all us "old" guys just don't understand... It's all about the eye candy design now...Gotta look "cool" and "zoomy"...It isn't about the work it can do or how durable it is, since it will be at the scrapper in 3-5 years...and besides, they will change the color scheme so you gotta get a new one anyways...right? I mean, when you post your selfies on snapchat the tractor's gotta look cool after all. Cuz like...that's what its all about, ya know? Low monthly payments for the rest of your life...new one every 2-3 years... UUHHGG...
