20 pointsWell, it happened some years ago. You see, I am the poster child for hating change and technology. I think it was all about cell phones, and I liked the one I had...it was and is still just a cell phone...that is all it does. My wife called me a dinosaur and my friend Tom went one more step and called me Stevasaurus. Needless to say, it stuck. I still live in the 60's, I still use my "reel to reel" "8 track player" "cassettes". I have a VCR on 3 TV's. I still use Windows 97 and DOS 6.2. When I go to the doctor's office, I pull a magazine off the rack and read it while waiting. And while we are at it...what was ever wrong with regular "Fig Newtons"??? Why do we have to have "Strawberry Newtons".?? At least Farm & Fleet still carries Chunkys...but like dinosaurs...they are getting harder to find. My 2014 Silverado has electric windows and I hate em...takes me 8 or 9 tries to set the window where I want it. I could not buy that truck with crank windows. I was a lineman for the phone company for over 10 years before getting into splicing back in the 70's...today, I would be an Outside Plant Technician...same job. How stupid is that?? When someone asks me if I text...I just get this real funny look and say "What?" Well, anyway, that's how I got the name, and that is just Swell.

19 points47...you Kids kill me. Wait, 4 and 7, those are the numbers I need for my next birthday cake.
-
15 pointsMy buddies tagged me with it back in the early 70's for what should be obvious reasons It has stuck with me all these years and it's my user name on everything. Thinking back it's amazing that I never got a ticket for my street driving habits.

15 pointsI was a Journeyman Lineman for 41 years ( electrical not football) and of course I am old.

15 pointsrmaynard, that's me Robert Maynard. Temporarily went by B100BOB when all I collected was B-100's, but that was short lived. The older I get, the easier things are to remember is key.

14 pointsHaving served in the Coast Guard which is the USA's oldest sea going service, one of the nicknames for Coasties is "Shallowwatersailor" as it is thought we only sail close to shore. I served before the current "Bender Blues" uniform and wore the traditional sailor uniform that had the US Treasury seal on the right sleeve. It was said that the seal was an indicator of how deep the water could be. Ironic as I have sailed in the Pacific over the Mariana Trench which is nearly seven miles deep!

14 pointsJC is my initials and 1965, well that year was the best of times and the worst of times for me. I had just graduated high school and bought a new Mustang convertible. Had started dating my wife and a few months later got a letter from uncle Sam. I was drafted into the Army.

13 pointsOk, I haven' been around much like I usually am. Way back last year I started selling some tractors. I started with 8 and now I only own 3. I was telling you fellas that we were moving from our 2 acres with the 500 ft driveway to a new home, we were building, to a smaller lot, 65 by 160. So machines had to go. If you remember I told the bride we would try to be in by new years January 2018. Well, we won't. One set back after the next, town engineer, architect, sub contractors and such slowed my job down. It's a fairly big home, elevator, complex framing plan, much details to be watched, things changed as we went. Right now you plumber started roughing the house just last week. My sider starts this coming Thursday, a week from this Monday my electrician starts his rough In and a few days after him my hvac guy comes aboard. We are building in a flood zone, so there are particular rules to be followed there, by the state of NJ and FEMA. Looks like finish and move in will be in the spring, by the time the elevator crew comes in all the trades trim out and such it' it how it will be. And the spring thaw will allow grading to the engineers spec. It' has been enjoyable to a degree. So , thought I would share some pictures, my roof Ridge is 48 ft up on a 12 pitch roof, the roofers had there hands full to, had to be harnessed off. 24 ft 2x12 rafters , 16 on center. Heavy work. The Mrs was not a happy camper, but that is how it goes. I like things to be right. I will be on here more now winter is setting in and my home will be closed in from the elements. If you look through the tree line, the vrranzano bridge and new York right across the Raritan bay. The picture nor the day wasn' The best. It looks great from all the floors. I will get a few better ones to share as we finish decking the 3 decks out front. Anyway, this is what I been up to, hope everyone has been good. Enjoy the pictures, we started June 22 with the site work and moved on from there. Glenn

13 pointsI want to thank Terry Dennis for making several sets of Wheel Horse logo decals to be applied on some new Chrome (12 inch which is actually a 10 inch cap on a 12 inch wheel) ) and Stainless (8 inch) hubcaps I have (given to me by a good friend) that we thought would look better with the Wheel Horse logo on them like the original old style hubcaps. The true test of this special project will be in time as the caps get older and the UV rays, wear and tear work on the hubcaps. But I think for now they will be very good on a show type tractor. I worked on the Special Chrome Hubcap Decal Project today. Brought in hubcaps and warmed up in house. Cut out a single horsehead decal and cut back edges to about 1/4 inch from each side of the decal. Cut out newspaper to find center block. Did this at first and then decided placing a black dot in center with a Sharpie is the best way to locate decal in center. Decal is 3 inches wide and 3 1/4 long so keep that reference when applying. I slowly applied the first decal on an 8 inch stainless steel hubcap. The arc of the cap resulted in a couple small buddle lines that I could not smooth out. I was more careful to slowly smooth the decal sticky surface with white paper cover on the next three -almost perfect! All in all I think this looks great. Now the real test will be how long they last on a tractor, UV rays in Sun, etc. Several points. 1. Find center and use a black Sharpie dot to be decal locator. You could also use a pencil on reverse of decal to locate center to match up if that gives you assistance in matching centers. 2. The 8 inch hubcap has more of an arc than the 12 inch due to the difference in size and when applying decal on 8 inch make sure to go slower when laying down the decal and pressing the back of the white cover paper (which is sticky) . I cut decal paper backer edges to within 1/4 inch of decal. 3.I had one decal where the black dots on the wheel came off when the white backer paper was removed. This may indicate the need to supply extra black dots with a decal set in case that happens.

13 pointsThis is a great thread @ebinmaine! Thanks for thinking of it. I should have chosen the avatar “the Storyman” because I have a story for everything. I guess it is the way that my brain works, I see the connectivity with many things in life and on top of that, I’m really sentimental. I have always liked the name “Jack”. When I was a kid and my family was traveling across the country as missionaries, I would occasionally tell people that my name was “Jack” much to my parents dismay! Peacemaker is a longer story. My first car was a ‘69 Mustang. (Look at that 17 year old kid!) As a Christian kid, I wanted a personalized plate that had something to do with Scripture. I tried three different things—none of them were approved. I was pretty disappointed until one of my buddies suggested “peacemaker” found only one place in the Bible, “blessed are the peacemakers...” it was approved and has been on my cars for over 23 years... (This pic was taken mid summer this year. I’ve owned the Goat since 1998) Then in 2007 I got into Cowboy Action Shooting. Those of you familiar with it, you know that everyone goes by Alias names. I had to choose one and as unoriginal as I am—guess what I chose? The Sacketts were Louis L’Amour’s favorite fictional western family that he wrote numerous novels about and so I “unofficially” joined that family. When I joined RS, I kept using the moniker that I’ve had for years. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!

13 pointsMy family owns a old Allis Chalmers Ag dealership and my uncle started a Heating and Cooling business in the mid 80’s . I started working summers with him along working at the store and living/working on our dairy farm. In 96 I went into the HVAC trade full time but had to stop at our store everyday . So I like big orange tractors and installed my share of air conditioners . So mine has a double meaning.
-

11 pointsA little bit of a long story but here goes. A good friend of mine who was definitely old enough to be my father and a fellow volunteer firefighter knew of my Wheel Horse addiction. He had a C-121 Automatic that his uncle bought brand new in 1978. One day he came to me and said that he really wanted to restore it but knew he was not going to have time. (He had cancer but at the time no one knew this) So he tells me that he wants his tractor to go to a good home and he knows that I will take care of it. A couple of days later I go pick it up and we are both very happy. I assure him that I will take good care of it. The following year I go to the Big Show and see Mark Klingers restored C-125 and think "man, I would love to have a tractor that looks like that!!" With that I think BOOM I'm going to restore Harry's tractor and not tell him. So I do a complete restoration of it, everything sandblasted or glass beaded. Two part epoxy self etching primer, three coats of red three coats of clear. It takes me months. When it is finally done I called him and asked him to come over. He was a house painter so I tell him I need price to paint my living room. When he gets here I ask him to come in the garage, I have something to show him. His eyes light up and he says "holy cow where did you get this beauty?" I tell him this is your tractor Harry. With that his eyes fill up with tears and he gives me a huge hug. Seeing the look on his face was priceless and worth all my efforts. That year I brought it to the big show and it was the first time Cecil was there. He signed my tractor and that really completed the whole thing. I lost my good friend (and drinking buddy!) to cancer the following year. I truly miss him. So here's to you Harry 🍻 Your tractor is in good hands. Harry's tractor is the one on the right.

11 pointsWell, I had the surgery yesterday and the Doctor told my wife and Sister that I came through it very well. He then went on to say that he was just as happy with how he did as how I did. So it appears it was a successful surgery. I woke up with a lot of and nausea in my abdomen . It subsided in the wee hours of the morning and I was finally able to get some sleep. Slept a lot actually even with the pain because I was just exhausted. They turned me loose this afternoon and I got home around 3:30 and went to bed for a few hours. There doesn't seem to be any confusion or other side effects other than a very dry mouth. A sip of water helps here and there. So again I thank you all for your support, good wishes and prayers. Prayer works folks. I firmly believe this. Thank you all again.

8 points@shallowwatersailor, John had this saw listed in the classifieds and we worked out a deal, and since he was in the neighborhood he brought it along with him yesterday and visited for bit before he had to get back to his being here, so a big thanks to John for delivery and fine quality saw, I have an older Dolmar PS 540 and to date 1 new spark plug and bar and maybe 3 chains since acquiring it in 2007 used, and has never failed to start on the 3rd tug even sitting 6 months +/- , Back to John's 5105 he had kept it stored "dry" since last year or so, I got a can of TruFuel pre-mix filled it up took it a bit to get to the carb without a primer bulb, but after playing a bit over an hour it starts on the first tug every time, sawed a wild cherry stump off flush that was behind the house this saw is plenty for the average firewood cutter, Jeff. 7 pointsWent to a big auction in Flat Rock, Indiana (south of Shelbyville, Indiana) on Saturday. I bought one item a nice single stage snowblower that was complete with lift rod and flag that takes the assist spring. Over 15 Wheel Horse tractors that were later than 1967 sold at the sale with some selling for as little as $25. The most interesting one was the B-145 with Elek Trak fork lift. A second Elek-Trak fork lift sold for just $25. I saw several of my Wheel Horse friends at the auction including : Karl Stohry, Tony Henderson, and met some new ones including: Daniel Baute, and Ben Pile. The night before the auction someone stole the radiator cap off of the Ford Model T one ton truck and an anvil was taken off of the stump (in photo with grinding wheel). How does that happen? A Shelby County Deputy Sheriff told me that "someone must have had big pockets"! NOTE: "American Pickers" on Monday night November 13, 2017 at 9:00 PM will have an episode at the Pile Family home in Marietta, Indiana . Met Ben Pile at the Auction in Flat Rock, Indiana and he mentions this so we were able to visit at their place after the auction.

I wear wind up watches , the Elgin I am wearing was made in 1957 , I do not own a cell phone. I have a laptop only because it was cheaper than a desk top and I am too dang dumb to figure out how to transfer files from one computer to another. We only have one TV and finally got HD cable this summer. Love music from the 50s and 60s. Don't like the new pickups they sit too high off the ground (all are build for 4 wheel drive) .
