I asked Terry @Vinylguy if he could reproduce a dealer advertisment from one of my Dealer Binders into a decal, this is what i sent him And this is what he came up with ! Not only did he make the decals like i wanted he made them into his awesome aluminum signs too! Cant wait to hang it up! Again THANKS TERRY!

I use carb cleaner to remove all the paint.

My wife bought this for me last Christmas. After finishing a C121 I thought this would be a fun project. Little did I know at the time it would take 11 sometimes extremely frustrating months. This one was truly an education but I had lots of help from the folks here at Red Square, Stevasaurus in particular. My neighbors father who is now 92 came to my rescue when I "couldn't see the forest for the trees" with the ignition. So...... Here she is!

Some you may have experience with Rustoleum hammered paint but in case you don't it may be worth a look.You are not going to paint a WH with it,I hope, but for some of our equipment I think it is something to try.I just painted a vise with it and for something as old and abused it looks new.I bought a rattle can of it at Wally World to try, as I got a quart to do another job and was curious to it's performance.It covers imperfections amazingly,as advertised.I don't know how well it will last but it is a name brand product and so far thumbs up.Luck,JAinVa

I remove all the paint on mine. Gas will remove almost all paint if it gets on it. I would clean off the paint that's on it. I think bare aluminum looks good Just me I guess. Or you can paint it . I have seen them painted and they look fine.

Just read my L&GT magazine and found a very nice article about Gary Cribbs and his Wheel Horse tractors. He gives a very nice "plug" for Red Square! Also in the magazine is a very good article by Norman Ng on the use of a multimeter.

I have used a couple of them and am very satisfied. Be sure the choke lever matches your application, some pull up and some pull down.

Get an Optrel Vegaview 2.5 - I'm pretty blind (if I drop my glasses I can't find them , not kidding) but can tig and stick weld with that hood all day long . It uses a true color lens and a light state of 2.5 - lowest in the industry and it does not use a green or blue tint - which is rough on your eyes anyway . It should be quite easy to make a new mount for the Cub - I always hated how their implements hook up and wondered why their customer base tolerated such a rotten design . Friends of mine have them - they see how easy the WH system is they can't believe it ., lol . Sarge

I picked up a 418-C which is a hydro rather than 8 speed a few weeks ago and am very pleased with the power it has. One weak point of the engine is that the fuel pump is on top of the engine and the fuel tank is under the seat, needs to be cranked over quite a bit. I am planning to put an electric fuel pump on it which will correct this problem.

I did just that Dick and it came in at 1.497. which is close but there are some imperfections that showed up under the AL. Now I'm not too sure 10 under will take them out so Ford Diesel may be right in 20 under. . I am going to let the machine shop guy make the call. He is going to take it down to 1.490 and see what it looks like.

Today my two diesel tractors finished this year's mowing season. With leaves covering the ground, I needed to fertilize for the last time this year. A portion of my front lawn was torn up a few weeks ago due to having an underground fuel tank removed. Because of where the tank was buried, the contractor's two trucks and backhoe made two routes to the tank's location. A lot of the lawn needed to be reseeded. I added 10 yards of topsoil to help the new grass along. Of course, we had 22 days without rain so I needed to sprinkle every day! Using "Paladin", my 523Dxi, I first mulched the leaves so that the fertilizer would be applied to the ground and not the leaves. It is nice having power steering as I ran wide circles amongst my trees so that I wouldn't tear up the new grass. Then it was my DC-105's, "Dillon", turn to pull my broadcast spreader. Some nice seat time! Now to get the 523Dxi ready for winter. Of course, I was supervised the whole time.

I Well, after sleeping for 3 hours after getting back from an overnight camp out with a couple of other dads and their son, I finally got a little more done on Emory's tractor. I managed to clean the dash tower and frame rails, knock a few dents out of the hood to mount and adjust it, and reassemble the sheet metal for a dry fit. I also cleaned the engine a little and ordered a set of custom decals from @Vinylguy. Emory asked if he could sand "my" tierods and of course I said yes!

I also like the Aluminum look. I clean mine with brake cleaner and polish with SOS pad. Then rinse real well in HOT water and then Acetone.

Times two -- with a stress on checking the choke movement..... tho I did manage to change one out from the old carb - a bit of a pain, but doable.

Upon disassembly of the carb, removing all gaskets and seals, I use brake cleaner to not only clean, but remove all paint from the outside. Works great and does a good job of removing all paint.

@squonk Mike read the title. Power Steering pump , not brakes ( I open the door and slide my foot , slows down some) . I know you have a fix for the leak just waiting on your intelligent ( ) reply. @Big_Red_Fred This is an 1984 all 155 HP with a 250 ( that is correct ) auto . It could not eat a Baloney Sandwich.

There can be big differences in 10 hp engines. The wire pair from the oil pan is most likely a low oil shut off. That your old engine had only two wires tells me it was a 3 amp unregulated system. the one with 3 wires probably has a 10 or 15 amp regulated system. You are going to have to get a regulator.

I used some of this Eastwood carb paint. Looked nice and has held up for a year or so. They have a bronze version but his looks more original to me.

I got one that fit my car, just in case it didn't work on the tractor. 2003 Chevy Venture. They can be had for around $25 or so.

Looks like you found the right machine guy Jim...I was ready to offer you mine.

My 502 with the pull start was hard starting after it sat for a few weeks. Got tired of pulling on the cord. I got the feeling if I could pull it longer and harder, it would start. I lined up my 857 to the 502...face to face, and off set so the engine pulleys lined up. Used a long fanbelt and figure 8ed it between the pulleys. With the 857 running, I just had to push the horses apart to tighten the belt and the 857 was cranking the 502. It didn't really take much doing that to get it started, but it sure saved on my arm. If I started that 502 everyday or so, it would start with about 2 pulls.

One of my 520's had a rock shaft seized on so bad the only way I finally got it was to cut the shaft on one side to get it out. I put it into a 20 ton press then heated and pressed at the same time until the shaft finally broke loose and began to move. I needed a new shaft at this point but found one on ebay. As 953NUT said, clean shaft and rock shaft until they slide together nicely and apply never seize. It should just slide apart next time.

Not `100% decided yet, but probably D - 80 or D -100. Photo's and measurements of D -160's and D -200's were used in the build. Half size model, half the number.

With a welder and talent, anything's possible.

I have read that most major car manufacturers will not honor the current warranties if 15% ethanol is used in their vehicles. That sends a powerful message to consumers regarding the negative properties of ethanol.
