17 pointsI saw something today that few of us have ever seen although I will bet that all of us have a desire to find some day! While the original RJ belt guard was almost new condition the cardboard box marked Wheel Horse 80-312 contained a set of four New Old Stock Wheel Horse hubcaps front and back still in paper covers in the box!

8 pointsI live in what could be refereed to as a desert! You just don't generally see any listed for sale within a hundred miles. Low and behold I picked up a 418 C on that was listed as having a bad transmission only four miles from my house. Always wanted a Kohler twin and here I was picking one up in my own back yard. When I picked it up Tuesday I asked about the symptoms and as he described it I told him it was probably just a bad idler that had eaten the belt. I offered to let him back out of the deal but he didn't want to. This morning I had a chance to check it out and sure enough that is what had happened. Last spring I bought a parts tractor from Kyle @fast88pu and as luck would have it the belt and idler from it were in great shape so I didn't even have to leave the shop to pick up parts. The 418 has a great running twin, wheel weights, rear axle bracket for a snow plow, a good 48" SD deck and now I know it also has a good strong Eaton 1100, not too bad for $ 225. The paint and wiring are atrocious, but that will get taken care of in due time.

6 pointsCleaned up another old Simpsom loader laying around and mounted it on a 520H . I think it came out looking good. I have had at least 6 of these Simpson loader and I think they are great. all new fittings and hoses and stripped to bare metal, and painted, 125 lbs. of rear wts on each wheel, need to clean up bucket yet. It lift at least 7 ft. Love the 520's for loader tractors, easy steering and plenty of power.

5 pointsHi everyone,I made a pair of skid shoes or feet or what ever they are called out of a piece of pipe and other metal. Here is the result.

4 pointsWow, Lane...Did you break into a hidden Wheel Horse museum? Would love those hub caps for my 654!

4 pointsTime for new "shoes" for Clyde. After the show in Berlin last week and all the positive comments Dad got about Clyde, he is more motivated than ever to get it set to his liking. He is going to be traveling through Ohio at the end of the month and so he will stop by Miller and pick up a set of 7.60-15 AG's. He said that he didn't want to miss out on prime painting weather so he peeled the turfs off the rims and look what he found... Can @Shynon shed any light on this inscription? Then he took the hoops to the sandblasted to clean them up. The rims are in great shape and perfect candidates for a fresh coat of Antique white paint! So that is just what Dad gave them! Now they wait curing until the end of the month when the shoes arrive. I'm soooooo excited to see what this thing will look like with those tires on it... Now it is time to set up and paint the plow.
-
4 pointsNot likely, when we get snow it is usually wet heavy snow and a blower wouldn't handle it. I do plan to add chains, fill the rear tires and mount a snow plow on it.

3 pointsNew motor actually seems a little too ballsy at times... as it now wants to carry the front wheels if you gas it in third. While climbing hills, discovered my heart in my throat a couple times today. Thinking it just might be time to load up a set of front tires now.

3 pointsInterco boggers come in some pretty small sizes as well - there was a guy that used to run once in awhile with them on his Lada Niva at a local off road park , amazing what that little car would do in the woods and mud...lol . Most fun I ever had was with a little Ford Festiva that was getting junked - we decided to run it through the motorcycle course at a buddy's house . It wouldn't fly very well due to being FWD and very light in the rear - kept trying to smash the radiator - so we ran it in reverse ....off the jumps too .. Sarge

3 pointsI hope to have the 953 from Ed finished by then and bring it. Of course if that isn't the case I have a few more 953s to pick from. The 418 is just going to be a worker for now.

3 pointsI kept eyeing that one Richard. I finally decided to pull the trigger the other afternoon and saw it was gone. Kind of figured you might be the seller. Now I'm glad you got it! I was drooling after that twin and was going to put another project. I'm glad you got it. Now, I just want to go for a ride sometime!

2 pointsSo... the Pond's had a GPS-enabled self-driving BEFORE Al Gore invented the internet and the US Government was tracking all of us from space??? Where's the GPS unit located? Does it mow your whole lawn like one of them Roomba vacuum cleaners? NICE looking machine!
-
2 pointsHmmm you could get a 417-8 with electric lift where the engineering was already done before the 520 was introduced? The frame and transmission are the same for these tractors. To me it seems crazy that you could get that tractor with reduction steering, forward swept front axel but you still had manual lift?
-
2 pointsIs that the same as lining up the newest,,,,biggest,,,duelist ?? Craig,,,,,my son and his friends have a saying,,,,,built not bought,!!!!!!! Lane,,,,,if these sell....im in,,,,just tell us when and where.. ololol Howard,,penny pockets in va

2 points"Autonomous". Richard, you've got to quit using such big words buddy! Makes my head hurt just trying to figure them out. At the end of the day my brain is mush anyway! Nice looking Tractor Craig. Motor sounds great!

2 pointsBest advice here is to go with electric - the one you have or another, in my ownership of 5 in the D family the original pump gave me fits. At present I have 3 D's and all have electric, my 180 has had an electric for some 20+ yrs. I also add them to any of the other models I get, its just not worth fooling around with those old vacuums

2 pointsAfter you straighten it, flip the lift rod and trunnion in the opposite direction. Someone may have bent the leveler so they could install the parts the wrong way.

2 pointsBecause Don they figured if you were going to run an eight speed you were he man enough to run a manual lift!
-
2 pointsEasier still, is to JB weld the holes closed... sand it smooth, and just run a tube in 'em.
-
2 pointsRichard,,,,,thats battin a winner out of the park!!!!!!!! Maybe this will be your ride next June ,at the BIG SHOW......... I think while we are discussing Beverages, a Coffee Cup maybe ,WheelHorse head,,,,,,,,and the YEAR STAMPED ON IT !!!!!!!!!! 2018 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe all Black or Cotton White,, BIG SHOW SIPPIE CUP !!!!!! frequency of refills optional
-
2 pointsBacking up the hole with copper and then MIG welding is the way to go, The weld will not adhere to the copper and you can make several side by side beads to fill large holes.

2 pointsI take it to mean: When there is a difference of opinion, rather than 'dig in' and ignore him or it . . . just broaden our thinking -- considering many more factors = bigger circle of input, and to not criticize their suggestion but to try and build on and respect it . . . even if it is wrong. Not many people are always right 100% of the time, if we "gang up" on one person when they may be wrong, we might eliminate any future input or cooperation, or worse yet, create an anti-social or destructive person like we're seeing more of in the news lately. just my 2¢, Glen

1 pointI recently picked up a 1970 Charger 12 to bring back to life. The engine sounded real good and didn't smoke. The hydro didn't have any problems but the mower deck looked like it took a direct hit from a RPG. I had restored a 42" deck for my Raider so the deck was not a real problem. I also had a 1968 Charger 12 that the guy said I had to take when I picked up a 74 C-120 (I wanted the engine for a spare) Now I had a "donor" for the 1970Charger In the process of taking the 70 Charger down to the frame I found that a mouse had made a nest on the box for the motion lever and associated parts. I found nuts, a fair amount of bedding material and what was left of the mouse. As I started to put everything back together I needed a part from the 68. When I took the cover off - this is what I found. This guy worked REALLY hard building a nice warm place to spend the winter My Charger project despite a setback or two is coming along.....one piece at a time
