Stumbled upon this in the New London, CT CL listings. Pretty cute, and potentially pretty handy. Definitely innovative. Looks to be nicely done. A little pricey, IMO........but an original, for sure.

I just went out and hitched up the front snow plow...doing it this way the blade "floats" but if you want the down pressure you will need to tie up or remove the mower lift bar... also you see where the front cross member on the plow frame hits my steering linkage on my swept forward axle 520, another for the extension kit, Jeff. @Ed Kennell, do you think my last post cleared up the mud? 20 minutes to get the blade under the tractor and hitched up minus the angle lever ain't too bad is it? Jeff.

This was a fun little show, & it was great to hang out with @Rp.wh and his boys. Rare tractors can even be found at a small show like this. I know that a lot of us rib on John Deere's but I still appreciate rare ones. This is an experimental model M, most of the 23 built were destroyed after testing. This one is a restored survivor. Some day I would like to own one of these Roof Palomino's. While the DeVere Lock was built in Racine WI, they are not found too often in our area. A Bantam tractor is also on my wish list. I was able to take this model 8000 for a joy ride. Very cool little tractor. I have never seen or heard of the Pigeon scooter. An old water pump used by fire fighters at one time. A big high light of the show for me was spending some time on this Port Huron Steam engine. An operators view while running the thresher. Had a great time & enjoyed hanging out with some friends.

I know this is not Wheel Horse but could not pass it up. I scored a Sears made by Roper. As far as I can find out only made in 1981 or 1982. What makes this one special to me is it also has a Sears loader made by Kwik Way.

It is not too often that a club in Wisconsin chooses to have Wheel Horse as one of their feature tractors. I just wanted to invite every one to help cover the show grounds with 's. This would be a great show to meet up with old friends as well as friends that you haven't met yet. Give a shout out if you think you can make it to the show.

Was doing some housecleaning and ran across some of my Elec-Trak info. Some might find it interesting. 1970 Pop Mechanics Article.pdf Here is a little more.... 1974 GE Tractor Lineup.pdf

Here is the pic of the slotted bar I made so I could use the deck lift arm. It works fine and makes changing from deck to plow a little easier, but with the chain connection, I do not have down pressure. Clear as 180 proof lightening Jeff.

Got back out to the shop today and fabricated the rotisserie and mounted the 953 frame. One support is an old home built engine stand and the other is just an angle iron lagged to the wall with a pipe welded to it, nothing fancy, but functional. I used a hydraulic lift table to bring it up to the proper height. This will save a lot of bending and crawling on the floor. Easy access for removing the stuff from below I used a contour gauge duplicator to get the shape and contour of the fender area to be replaced, then I made a template out of MDF so I can check the pieces as they are bent. Some laborious cleaning is next,

Very clear now, thank you everyone for being patient with me and and thank you WVHillbilly520H for investing your time in putting the blade on

Prices were steals up to the ridiculous. Emory got a lawn ranger with a decent paint job - a little dough was used to straighten the hood though. Lot of people thought I overpaid and I did too (for the Emory it was worth it). I didn't notice the engine up there - sat a little too far back. Upon closer inspection it is a Kohler k91! Cleaned the carb and she took right off! Fogged all of the mosquitos for a while though. Runs pretty good, but is throwing some oil from the crank seal. I think some rings, new gaskets and seals and it would be a great motor. Talked him into a predator for now - I'd like to see him save the Kohler for a suburban project down the road! Too nice of a motor to put on a mid 60s ranger. Now I feel a lot better about the price I paid! Below is a picture of him on it after I got it running. I've cleaned the 857 tank and ordered a rebuild kit for the carb. Paint is too nice to repaint. Thinking I'll just scuff it and shoot with some clear for a patina look.

Let's see if I can clear up the mud here, if you have an '88 520 with the straight axle you won't need the extension part that is slid in the frame and bolts to the welded in cross member...it needs to look like what I'm showing in my pics below then the lift link is pinned or bolted on to the mower lift arm in hole not used by the rockshaft chain it doesn't have to be removed and it doesn't have to go to the rockshaft unless you get the long link for "down pressure, also the rear extension can also be removed give a little bit and I'll get you some pics with the blade attached, Jeff.

An engine manufactured in 1986 could have landed on a 1986 or 1987 model tractor. 1986 was the first year for the low oil switch in the rear of the oil pan. The K-Series engines were used in 1986 10hp and larger. Tractor model 21-10K802 or 03. 02 likely made by Wheel Horse and 03 made by Toro. 1986 was the year company ownership changed. 1987 was the first year for the M-Series of engines 10hp and larger. Tractor model 21-10K804. Corrected the tractor model numbers Garry

My C-120 and raider 12 both have them on the left side, but now that you guys mentioned bolts threading through the oil pan ( I did not know this ) I checked and they both seem to have them thread though the oil pan aswell as on the frame

Thas what I thought at first glance Dick.... some sort of homemade affair or rat rod! Cool nonetheless.

Running gear and wheels are "T" for sure. The plow is an old horse drawn unit. I think this is a "Fromall" , it has parts from all sorts of stuff!

The 46th Annual Texas Early Days Tractor show is Oct 7th, Temple, Tx http://texasedtea.org/ This is one of the bigger shows around Texas. The number of Garden Tractors seems to be slowly growing each year, so I hope to see some of you there They usually have a large showing of large tractors and hit or miss engines. They also have several large 3-4 cylinder hit or miss engines permanently mounted and operational. .I'll be there with my restored 1985 Wheel Horse 312-8 if I can borrow it back from my son and/or my original 1965 Case 180 Last May I met a Texas guy with a Pond Senior (and a barn full of other garden and full size tractors) that I'm hoping will have his Senior there. Who else is planning to be there?

You could go with 953 or 1054. both have hydraulic lift and are gear drive. the GT14 could be had with 3 point. It was however Hydro only. electric lift would work and with some ingenuity added to most any of them. I would go bigger cuz I just do that:-) So minimum I'd go is 12hp

Welcome to the 246H club. Probably just you and I are members tho! While it's not exactly a bucket list tractor by any stretch a nice mower all around and very dependable if taken car of. Briggs twin 18 hp. has plenty of power and always starts easy. Manuals can be found here if you don't have them. a few shots of mine.

Look at post in link below. All of the information you need should be there. Engine internals are the same as for the HT55C as the H55's. The only real differences are engine mounting base and dipsticks. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/71224-hh55-and-hh60-engines/

I would look for a tractor with a 10hp or larger engine. Finding a gear driven with hydraulic lift is not very common, gear drive with three point would be even less common. I agree that gear drive is better for ground engagement implements, but the larger hydro's such as your D series will work well also. If you don't already have 3 point implements. A Brinly sleeve hitch added to a will allow you to use a number of ground engagement tools.

That may look like it's just one piece but it's two. The seal can be easily picked out with a small screwdriver and the new one installed. As long as there's no axle slop no further disassembly required.

Bolt it on the the left side ( TOP PICTURE )The bottom bolts that go in oil pan are on the right side (BOTTOM PICTURE ). That's the side for the JBOLTS . The top picture is the way you must bolt it so the belt will line up. The jbolts will hold the right side down.

Thanks for the welcomes! What exactly do you want a pic of? Yes it's an 8 speed. Sorry I forgot to include that in my 1st post, though IDK what hydro means.

So far prices all over the map $10 John Deeres to $2100 Panzer Meteor ,$1100 for the older Panzer, from $25-$750 not even half way done...newer 314-8 $700 and a misbadged (GT-14) with sickle $900... all all I can take for today...heading home, Jeff.

Not meant as a joke! May not be apropos but let's give the ole guy credit, and what a great winter project! He died in the LINE OF FIRE DUTY while doin' his masters bid. He's still standing by diligently waitin' for the medics to return life support. Already I can hear the scoldin', but what a comparison to some of the excellent work from our group of restorers! .

The on line kohler owners manual says my engine was made in 1986. I'll try to get some better pix in the sunlight tomorrow. Thanks again for the help. Wish someone would lend Aaron Rogers a hand tonight.

You'd probably be better off just replacing the whole rod. New ones are fully adjustable. Too long of a tie-rod will cause toe out, and too short will cause toe in. We have a vendor on here that makes them, plus they are always available on eBay or Amazon.

That's right. The lowser lift arm is for rear-mounted tiller. The TOP lift arm is for the Dozer blade and Mower decks. These are pics of my C-160 Auto but the hook up links are the same...

I have a 1974 c160 and it has 4 bolts holding the engine down just as pfrederi said. 2 go through the frame into pan on right sibe and 2 outside lift side. I always say a picture is worth a thousand words.

@Jrg5281, I'm in Staunton VA, on the I-81 corridor, the D is about 15 mins from my house, has everything snow/dirt plow, snow thrower, mower deck, the trailer the all that's on and the FEL and weight box on the tractor, I'm not a D series guru so I'll have to leave it up to those that do know to help you out with all the intricacies, Jeff.
