11 pointsI've been sporting the 520 badge for a lil bit now, so I thought I'd take a minute to introduce the latest member of my herd. With special thanks to a couple of members, I am now the proud owner of a 520H. It was picked up as a non-runner, but after some shop time it runs & drives good. Its first job at my place was to pull down a partially broken branch from my black walnut tree. Of course this beast had no problem handling it. She looks proud after conquering the first job at her new residents.

9 pointsThey may be new and look clean ...but clean them before you install them. Just put new points in my Case VAC. Gapped them checked everything...and no spark. Couple of seconds with the point file and she purred like a kitten.. They looked clean but I doubt points for a 1950 tractor turn over fast at the parts store been on the shelf for a while.

6 pointsOK Jeff, you got a theory for those born on January 8th? That would be me and Elvis.

5 pointsJust a couple pics to show progress continues albeit slowly as I wait for parts and trying to find the perfect belt length. I had hoped to run the clutch rod inside the tunnel but will have to make due with close proximity to the side of tunnel. I will run the brake rod inside but will need to do surgery on the side panel. It took two days to make the rod from brake band to lever as an example of how seemingly small projects can eat up inordinate amount of time.

4 pointsTook a much needed day off work today for my birthday (been working 14-16 hrs a day for over three weeks straight). Been having withdrawals, so went across town and roaded my C-125 over to the RV park where we are living now. Then the girlfriend and I made a trip to our local farm supply store and picked up a new seat for the old tractor. Sure looks better now and feels better on the old backside too

4 pointsSounds like the fuel cap vent may be clogged. Without a good vent the fuel leaving the tank will create a vacuum that the pump can't overcome. Eric types faster than me!
-
4 pointscheck the gas cap to see if it is venting, if it stalls out loosen the gas cap. I would start by taking the bolt out of the bowl on the carb and draining it. Most of the time you have to remove the air cleaner to do this and sometimes it is easier to remove the carb if the bowl comes off. it would not hurt to remove the bowl and see how much junk is in the bowl. if the fuel line and fuel filter hasn't been changed for awhile you may want to prevent future problems and replace while your at it. if it runs runs with the choke on it should be a fuel problem so you have narrowed part of the problem down already. good luck eric j

4 pointsThe 9-pin connectors that I sell are the same as the OEM'S. They worked fine for 30 years, these should work just as long.

4 pointsI've looked at the 9 pin on my 520 and see things that I don't like, biggest thing that I don't like is that they are not water tight. The future plan with mine is to change it to a Deutsch connector. These can be obtained for use with 12ga+ wire, plus they are water resistant. A little tip when using a Deutsch connector - instead of buying the special crimper for the pins, I prefer to solder the pins onto the wires.

3 pointsEd , You were showing us how to polish hub caps and @roadapples looks at the seat. Think he is more interested in comfort than work.

3 pointsI did manage to snag a Fairbanks Morse recoil for my K91 and a bunch of parts for my project....which waiting for to arrive is slowing progress.

3 pointsMy good friend @Lane Ranger had picked up an engine for me from @Lane Huls a week ago. I rode my motorcycle to Lanes today to pick up the engine and got to visit with a couple more fellow WH collectors, namely Roger Parmley, D.J Harrison, and Zach Edwardson. Very nice (250 mile) ride, nice visit with the guys, and a very nice lunch with Lane at WASSERS a micro-brewery in Greencastle.

3 pointsWorking on building the 953 Diesel into a beastly plow tractor. I just made a few brackets for some weights in the front and rear. I also picked up a Wheel Horse 12" plow. It was in excellent condition and I thought a great price for a 12". Now I'm looking into converting to a 5/8" belt because pulling a 10" with no weight it was eating up the stock 1/2" belt. Anybody that wants to give me any tips on the belt conversion or anything I should add let me know.

3 pointsJust found the photo's that I couldn't find. This shows the cross member assembly trial fitted at the front of the chassis. Thought I also had one showing it before fitting but no sign of it. Should have mentioned earlier that I had a LOT of help from Iain ( slf-uk ) with photo's and measurements. On one of his numerous visits to John's he mentioned that he had a D-160 and 200 and offered to obtain any details I required. This offer was taken up countless times with Iain dropping everything, day and night, and rushing into his workshop with camera, tape, and notebook. Well, not quite rushing but a speedy response. A lot of the photo's found on the internet didn't show details from the correct angle but a request to Iain explaining what I wanted produced the required result. A BIG THANKS Iain. Now that the grill surround was made it needed something to fill the hole. The grill was made from 3/4 x 1/2" alloy angle with 3/16" silver steel uprights, threaded 2BA at the top and drilled 1/16" at the bottom for a wire pin. The spacers were from alloy tube. Using the 1/2" width of the angle as the front face with a 1/2" gap between each plus the same top and bottom looked about right. A lot of careful measuring, cutting and drilling gave a good copy of the original. The anti rattle leaf spring at the top was from steel shim with threaded tubes over the tops of the uprights where they protruded through the grill surround. This alloy angle was from a green house which John and I dismantled years ago for a friend of his, transported back to his land, stored behind his shed and has never moved until recently. I saved a good selection of various sizes. Finally, I just had to give the grill a coat or two of paint, the first item painted, to see what it looked like.

2 pointsThat is the wrong switch. "M" grounds the self-powered magneto type ignition to shut it off. "I" supplies battery power to the battery type ignition coil. Click on the photos Garry

2 pointsPersonally, if your going to ride a bike that big and pull a trailer you may as well use a car or pickup. Now for a quick getaway. OOPS! Forgot I've not got my FZ1000 any more.

2 pointsDan is not a big fan of pedal kits Ed ... says he had a little incident with one once involving a tail light on his brother's car Left on sour taste in his mouth so prefers the traditional lever! It did come with a cab but pretty rough shape that would take 1 or 3 rolls of duct tape! Some day I going to get some V61's for the front of mine so I'll have some matching fronts for you.
