13 pointsHere's my pics from the show... Great turnout... crappy weather. Cool and rainy pretty much all weekend.... until time to pack up, then the sun shine was bright and hot! I think the rain kept a ton of people away, especially from the gas engine areas... not many displays up there this year. There was a display of antique snowmobiles too though... can't have a tractor show in Minnesota without some snowmobiles! Some random pictures from around the grounds and then lots of the groups display below.

7 pointsI've been sporting the 520 badge for a lil bit now, so I thought I'd take a minute to introduce the latest member of my herd. With special thanks to a couple of members, I am now the proud owner of a 520H. It was picked up as a non-runner, but after some shop time it runs & drives good. Its first job at my place was to pull down a partially broken branch from my black walnut tree. Of course this beast had no problem handling it. She looks proud after conquering the first job at her new residents.

7 pointsThe plowing conditions were perfect. That's OK, I'm sure my aching neck will be better in a week or so!

Regardless another coming this weekend.

5 pointsTook a much needed day off work today for my birthday (been working 14-16 hrs a day for over three weeks straight). Been having withdrawals, so went across town and roaded my C-125 over to the RV park where we are living now. Then the girlfriend and I made a trip to our local farm supply store and picked up a new seat for the old tractor. Sure looks better now and feels better on the old backside too

5 pointsJust found the photo's that I couldn't find. This shows the cross member assembly trial fitted at the front of the chassis. Thought I also had one showing it before fitting but no sign of it. Should have mentioned earlier that I had a LOT of help from Iain ( slf-uk ) with photo's and measurements. On one of his numerous visits to John's he mentioned that he had a D-160 and 200 and offered to obtain any details I required. This offer was taken up countless times with Iain dropping everything, day and night, and rushing into his workshop with camera, tape, and notebook. Well, not quite rushing but a speedy response. A lot of the photo's found on the internet didn't show details from the correct angle but a request to Iain explaining what I wanted produced the required result. A BIG THANKS Iain. Now that the grill surround was made it needed something to fill the hole. The grill was made from 3/4 x 1/2" alloy angle with 3/16" silver steel uprights, threaded 2BA at the top and drilled 1/16" at the bottom for a wire pin. The spacers were from alloy tube. Using the 1/2" width of the angle as the front face with a 1/2" gap between each plus the same top and bottom looked about right. A lot of careful measuring, cutting and drilling gave a good copy of the original. The anti rattle leaf spring at the top was from steel shim with threaded tubes over the tops of the uprights where they protruded through the grill surround. This alloy angle was from a green house which John and I dismantled years ago for a friend of his, transported back to his land, stored behind his shed and has never moved until recently. I saved a good selection of various sizes. Finally, I just had to give the grill a coat or two of paint, the first item painted, to see what it looked like.

5 pointsHe was supposed to make it to Pioneer Power but didn't get in the truck when I told him to.....mumbled something about having a full cup yet... so he got left in the windowsill of the shop all weekend!

4 pointsNew guy here. 244 h. Yeah I know... verticle drive shaft.... Local Deere dealer sold me a 244 h for a couple hundred bucks. The transmission was jumpy. They didn't want to mess with it. i noticed the release used for pushing the tractor around was pretty stiff. Removed rear right wheel and found culprit. The release valve was was half way open. Simple turn with wrench fixed the problem. tractor can now sprint up my West Virginia yard.

4 pointsThat is Mike, Tom's boy. As far as I know we were the only ones out there plowing but a few spectators commented they should have brought a plow. Took about two hours to do an acre or so.

3 pointsI needed a way to store my mower decks and came up with this. I have a tractor with pallet forks to move it around. Wheels under it would work as well. I built the base out of 2x4's and 4x4's. Decks sit on 2x10's and I used 2x3's to locate the wheels. 2x4 uprights were put into notches cut into the 4x4's for added strength and held in with 3-1/2" lag bolts and construction adhesive. Decks are lowered into place then a ratchet strap holds it. I built mine to hold 2 48" decks and a 60" deck. 60" deck is in the middle due to it's extra weight. I will put the last 48" deck on in the late fall when I am done using it. The way the decks are held should not cause any paint damage. Cleat

3 pointsI'm eventually going to give the sheet metal a repaint, then I want to add some of Terry's custom decals to it. Maybe the patriotic set. For now I'm going to use it as is. I'm thinking that she might end up on winter clean up duty, if I happen to find a blower for her at the right price.

3 points...or the old hubcap route, is always an option. Actually, I'm gonna blast these rims at some point soon, & change 'em to the linen beige they're supposed to be. Just can't stomach them in white either.

3 pointsNeighbor is redoing his driveway. They dumped a Triax load 20+tons of 2A modified. Didn't run it, dropped in two piles. The D200 with FEL and york rake got a work out spreading the stuff up and down the driveway. (I got a good work out also. Steering a D200 with a full bucket is not easy). Also with the York rake on the back (also serves a counter weight) this thing is long and hard to maneuver.). Hydro temp never got above 180 and she dug holes in the driveway pushing into the piles. (with beet juice in each wheel and 50lbs weights on each in addition to the york rake. Got out the C120 with Midmount blade and it did a great job leveling off the stuff and was much easier to use.

2 pointsUnfortunately my bearings did not show up yet.@WHX12 made a suggestion that I should install a magnetic drain plug. I dug through my boxes of goodies & found a drain plug from a HD primary case. I think it should serve my purpose well. Now I'm sitting here with all my parts sterilized just waiting for a few bearings so that I can assemble.

2 pointsYou would be surprised at the things I have hauled in/on my motorcycle trailer(s)! Brought 2 cased of COORS beer back from Denver back in 1978 or 79. Had a bicycle strapped to the top back in about 1984/85. Vacuum cleaners, just about everything, less the kitchen sink!

2 pointsSo what's with the fire in the barrel pic? The plowing there looked really good considering the rain, etc! I was even more jealous watching the videos than looking at the still pics. If I would've been there, you would've had to have drug me out of that field because I wouldn't have wanted to leave. How many other guys were plowing and how big of a field did they have to turn under? Tom @Shynon your machine looks like it was just cruising along! One of these days I'll get to plow with you. Who's the other guy plowing in the video? I still do know everyone by face, guess I need to get to more shows thanks for all all the great pics, looks like there was some super cool attachments there! I'll have to get that show on my list in the near future...

2 pointsI live near Meadville PA...not too far from Akron. These Hyd PUMPS are not difficult to rebuild as I have done a dozen or more of them. However, if you intend to rebuild the pump, you'd be well-advised to also rebuild the Hyd MOTOR assembly and the circulating fluid is common to them. I say that because the internal components are nearly identical and usually suffer from the same 45 years of use/abuse. In other words, the power loss MAY not be just from the pump...but from the motor also.most difficult part is getting the PUMP removed from the tractor....can be a PITA. The MOTOR is much easier to get to, but still more than a nuisance. If you know what a wrench is and how to use it, you can manage this rebuild. It is rather time-consuming and tedious, but don't let that be intimidating. Here are a few pics of what MAY be expected.....

2 pointsBest ones I've seen for kids is a second pedal , with a pivot point on that pedal much higher for their stature and a rod to connect to the existing pedal . This allows an adult to still run it and everything to work correctly in the trans linkage . You could put the pivot point on that machine on the trans tunnel , just pick a spot away from the linkage inside . A fixed bolt along with the correct bushing on a spare WH clutch pedal should work fine . Sarge

2 pointsLook around your area for engine machine shops and ask around at mower dealers - they will know who does quality rebuilds and uses OEM Kohler parts and will stand behind their work . We're lucky here as we have a shop that has been rebuilding Kohler engines for over 50yrs and never had a reputation problem . You get it done right , or they won't do it and ask you leave , now...! Their is no real modern replacement engine the same physical size/weight/torque range of the Kohler K series engines , they are worth saving now before parts become completely obsolete and you're stuck with having to bastardize the tractor to fit a different brand/type engine . The only other engines available with the high torque curve and physical size are single cylinder diesels - their price tag will warrant rebuilding that Kohler the right way , the first time . Sarge

2 pointsAs a fellow member of the PTO-66 club, I can't tell you properly how awesome this was to watch in person. It's hard for spectators to believe such a little machine really could take the place of a bigger tractor on the farm.... but here it is, not just in photo, but live action proof!
