9 pointsReally happy for dad. 2 months shy of his 71st birthday we finally located his dream truck. I have been sending him options for the last year and a half and this one punched all of the boxes. 1955 Ford F100 with a 351w. Disc brakes, independent front suspension, vintage a/c. The truck is perfect for us as it is not perfect but we can put a few of our own small touches on it. Can't wait to hit some shows! He also picked up this pretty clean "grocery getter" about a month and a half ago. This will be enjoyed and tinkered with. My 11 year old wants it for her first car. Haha! 1988 4x4 Ranger with 89k original miles. Fun little truck to cruise around town.

7 pointsMy old 606 rat is what I use for chores and pulling in the summer and I plan to use it to push snow in the winter. With the AGs with fluid and weights it was pretty rough on the yard when I would pull the spreader and aerator making relatively quick, tight turns. Sorta silly but I came up with some 520 wheels and cheap Chinese turfs to use in the summer. I was gonna put the rear hub caps back on but I kinda like he deep dish look for now. The AGs and caps will go back on when the snow blade does.

5 pointsI have been updating my work on my 310-8 on "What have you done to your today " but thought this needed a separate thread. Plan on putting 8 inch rims on the front and had set of rims with mounted tires . One tire was flat so finally figured out it had bad cracks in the side walls. Had another set of tires that I had gotten a year ago. Removed first tire from rim and mounted new tire. No problem piece of cake. The second tire had a tube so here I go. Broke seal and flipped rim over to break seal so I could remove tube. Only took a 1/2 hour to break seal . Flipped rim over and started pulling out tube. I got a 3rd of tube out and realized I had some of kind of C - - - all over my hands and tube. My guess is a PO had a flat and pickup his can of Fix A Flat or one of the other products on the market. Well it did not work so a tube was installed without cleaning the tire or rim. The tube was basically glued to the tire and rim. I fought with the tube for an 30 minutes without any success. My redneck background hit high gear , grabbed the Saw all and inserted new blade. 15 minutes later got the bead cut thru on one side flipped rim over and started with a new blade finally after 30 minutes I finally got the tire and tube off the rim. No harm was done to rim during this adventure. Would have taken pictures but there was too much sweat dripping in my eyes. I had the A/C running in the shed the whole time. Tomorrow I will clean the rim both the fix a flat c- - - and the rust that it created. Life is grand when you are having fun and getting cranky.

5 pointsI have a fraind that is a major wheel horse collector, I went to his house this morning for some parts for my 753. I saw these hub caps laying out side I picked them up to look at them and he said "you want them you can have them". They are my first pair of wheel horse hub caps, they have a coat of green paint on them and black but I think I can get that off to get them back to there original glory.

5 pointsWants to torch a tire. Wants to torch a tire. Wants to torch a tire Wants to torch a tire. and, Wants to torch a tire.
-
5 points@squonk Only a squonk would mention a torch on a story about rubber tires. Insurance adjuster : Can you tell me exactly what happened so we can honor your claim. Bubba ; Me and my buddy have a few beers and we couldn't get a tire off a rim. We tried a torch. It was doing fine until we couldn't see for the black smoke next thing was the fire department was late getting here.

5 pointsDuring my high school days I worked part time at a service station. Several times if a customer's tire had picked up a nail I would plug it while it was on the car and send them one their way. In the spring a regular customer came in to have his snow tires removed and regular tires installed, I deflated one of the tires and broke the bead; couldn't get the tube to come out. I pulled and tugged and finely it came loose but had a hole in it. I removed the tire and discovered a plug had been inserted and it had plugged the tire and tube together. I told the customer that "some dummy" had plugged a tube type tire! He replied, yes, that dummy would be you! Turns out I had noticed the tire had a leak and plugged the tire out at the gas pumps one day while his wife was getting gas. It had held air without any problem all winter. Needless to say I didn't charge him to patch the tube.

5 pointsFarmers who use Ags use either double ring chains or something like this to keep the cross links from settling in between the ribs. None of my full size tractors go out in the winter with out chains. AGs do not do well if the ground is frozen hard or icy beneath the snow and they are darn near worthless backing up (even with weights or loaded)

5 pointsFor me, as much as I'd like to have one, it would have to be in super condition and maybe have some others accessories to pay that much.
-
4 pointsIf you can't get them to "clean" up, I had a set powder coated close to polished aluminum then hand painted the embossing, Jeff.
-
4 pointsThe serial number is right below the steering wheel in front of shifter. By the way nice 1054. I wish mine was that nice. It's still in pieces waiting for me to get it going.
-
4 pointsRebuild kits generally only include bowl gasket, splash shield, and float valve. They are all pretty much all the same. To do a complete rebuild, you must remove and clean the main and idle jet screws, and clean all the ports, orifices and body of the carb. Soak it over night in lacquer thinner. The main jet needle valve has multiple tiny holes in it. It is hollow, so be sure all those holes are clean, and air can pass through the tube and out all the holes. Also, check to be sure that you don't have a lot of play in the throttle shaft. Too much play can allow air to be sucked in, causing an erratic lean condition. Good luck.

4 pointsOne of the things that intrigues me about the trailers you lads have over there, is how far back the axle is. Single axle trailers over here tend to have the axle just back of centre. I suppose if you have a big pickup truck, the weight on the front of the trailer will be being carried on the truck. Photo's are of my twin axle 12' x 6'-6" trailer rated for 3 ton. I can get four tractors on with a bit of space for other items.

3 pointsThe double drive pulley I made enabled me to finalize the hydraulic pump location. The drive belt and pto belt line up pretty well too. I welded the exhaust and muffler up.
-
3 pointslooks like it is complete with the exception of the cover near the brake peddle, one will turn up. Serial number is right here.

3 pointsAlright, just an update in case anyone else is looking for these light housings. Like I said before, I have been searching for one of these for about a year. I have been searching for a wheelhorse specific part. I ended up looking on the side of the one that I did have and it is made by dietz. Light number 107. So I started to search for one of those. I found one in Texas from a "light guy". $24 sent to the house. It fit perfectly but here is the only difference. It was made with a cut out in it for a license plate light and takes a slightly different bulb. I just painted the clear plastic silver and otherwise you can't tell a difference. It fits the hole in the grill and the wheel horse lenses snap right onto it. It will work good and get us to our local tractor show this weekend with a complete tractor!

3 pointsThe chains fall in between the tire cleats and don't do anything. Chains on turfs work very well on my plow C125.
-
3 pointsBuy it. That's one tractor that I'd love to own. SK-486. Special Kohler, 48" deck, 6=16 HP (K341). 1982 production, but utilized left-over parts from 1978 through 1982. That's what makes it Special. This to me is a real collectors item.

2 pointsMy grandpa would buy old used surplus tires like the ones used on deuce and a half military trucks. I had the fun job of mounting and fixing them . We used them on manure spreaders and big gravity feed wagons . Those are some tuff beads , especially those old rusty crusty ones that were mounted for decades . I can remember a couple , a sawzall was the only way they were coming off . Did those military trucks have split rims ? Jim don't worry about the spelling. If my iPad didn't have auto spell and voice text there's no way anyone could understand what I was writing !

I m drooling on my key board hahaha, direct the Newbie, Oh 953, there falling from the Sky again, take me Fred Take me Fred
-
2 pointsMe. too, but I had a Sawzall, and I went for it after only 15 minutes. Best tool ever invented. I use it for trimming trees from a ladder. Way safer than bringing a chain saw up a ladder!

2 pointsMike Hitchens is good from Guy parts and service, he is in the U.K. He can supply many kohler parts for your engine Harry

2 pointsNever plug a tire when the car is on a lift and the hole is eye level. That glue stings!

2 pointsOne of my biggest disappointments is the lack of cab choices for WHs. From what I've seen and can tell JD whips up on WH in the cab department. Blasphemy here on this forum I'm sure, but for the sake of full disclosure, some others will agree. Hate the color but love that cab!
-
2 pointsWelcome, nice looking tractor, I've got its sister, a '88 312-8, except mine doesn't have those ugly yellow growth thing coming out of the rear wheels.
-
2 points@stevebo I found this pic of Brennan and my little cuz Sam riding around the grounds on Saturday morning . Sam had a great time hanging out with your son . He said he's definitely coming back next year but we need to leave the girls at home !
-
2 pointsMight work, but I'm sure you'll have to cut some sheet metal and maybe the glass or plexi that goes over the hood. But for the love of all that's good in the world, be sure to paint it red!

2 pointsBob: I am coming up to Plymouth on the 29th! I will see you there!

2 pointsUpdate. I got the deck mostly level. I think there are several issues at once here. First, I think the deck is sprung on the discharge side or at least what I think "sprung" means anyway. I took some pipe clamps and pulled the sides in until the top of the deck was level across the width then bolted 1/4" c-channel to the top to hold it in place (my welder died a few months ago). I think that took care of that part. Then it was on to the center pulley which I found was "tilted" forward, probably from over tightening the mule drive belt. I then hammered that back to level. Unfortunately without a welder I can't really reinforce that so I'm expecting it to give way again. Next, I had to shim each blade individually so that when the deck is installed they're all within 1/8-1/4" of each other. Took about 4 hours and multiple installs and removals but the deck mows pretty well now. I'll need to eventually replace my mid mount hooks because they're fairly worn but at least I can mow without creating unsightly strips. Long post but I wanted to update everyone. I'll try to post some pics later.
