9 pointsThis weekend was my home town show weekend. Got to stay in my own town while others brought their goodies for me to see! Enjoy! This custom Wheel Horse sport utility vehicle was a work of art, Frame was stretched and the bed was a functioning dump bed. Powered by a 16 HP Onan and lots of great custom touches. My 953 street rod tractor is in the background. As you can see it was for sale and about an hour after I talked to the owner I saw another guy driving it; Big Red was SOLD! Here are a few more pictures for you enjoyment.

8 pointsThis is my tiller steer RR-46 I've never seen another one. Does anyone else have one?
-
8 pointsFinally have my '72 Raider 10 finished. She is a working tractor so not so pretty. Re-ringed engine, rebuilt deck, and other odds and ends. Now my 953 has a mate. Who knows with the two of them maybe a C160 will appear.....

7 pointsNow stop it Howard.....you're barrisin me. Just got back from a trail ride to the back field on the C-101.

6 pointsI have a long hedge of Red Tips that needs to be sprayed weekly due to a fungus and I got real tired of the one gallon sprayer ( each application requires 3 gallons of water) . I looked at the big box stores and did not like the prices and quality . I got a sale catalog from HF which had a 4 gallon back pack hand pump sprayer for $20.00 plus sales tax . Read the reviews on it and there were a lot of positives . Picked one up Friday and used it today. For 20 bucks you can beat it. It is on the heavy side when filled ( for the over middle aged guys - we know who we are ) but it works great , come with 4 different spray heads and assemblies in about 10 minutes which includes opening the box. It takes a little getting use to as it is a pump spray versus a pressure sprayer. Just for your information.

6 pointsHere's a couple better pics... The paint isn't quite as nice as it looks in these pics but it is in about perfect shape for a plow rig. I can honestly say that this is one of the most comfortable GT's I've driven and I'm amazed how stout it is! We made it home safely and I tried to outrun the mosquitoes in my yard but they soon won and I was forced to go inside!

5 pointsWhen you say "B" series...if it is a Sundstrand, it should bolt on and you may have to do a little sheet metal fabrication. The input pulley needs to be on the right side of the transmission. The reason I ask, Eaton and Peerless transmissions are also in "B" series horses and those may be for vertical shaft engines.

5 pointsDes, I resently bought this trailer to carry my Wheelhorse tractors , sadly just big enough for one tractor but is very handy as it's has the loading ramp at the rear that folds down, that's my Trojan on the back at the moment

4 pointsAre these tested, known to be good units? Hate to see you do all that work only to discover why the unit was removed in the first place.
-
4 pointsIf you will tell us the year and model number we can fix you up with a free download for an owner manual. When you say it won't go in gear please be a bit more specific. Is this a problem that just occurred or one that has gotten worse? Will it seem to go into gear while stationary with the engine shut off, but grind gears when running? We need a bit more to go on here.

4 pointsIT'S ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE! I hope I'm in the right place to reply to all those members that have helped me with the C-100 Meltdown issue. Replaced regulator yesterday, repaired stator wire connections and orange wire conn on reg. Replaced ignition switch because I have had an nos oem switch for 25 yrs so why not? Hope throwing extra part at problem doesn't make me a shade tree mechanic of questionable talent. The orange wire at the reg was rock hard and burnt. The regulator showed an internal blow out as I saw a blob of solder coming from the end of a resistor and coming up thru the epoxy coated or whatever it is encasing the electronics. I also added a ground wire from the regulator housing to the chassis ground point for the battery. It started right up and I had 14.4 v at the battery. I did notice during all this that the needle on my ammeter had broken off. Brittle after 43 yrs or blown at meltdown don't know. Didn't notice until doing repair. If anyone knows where to get a replacement at a decent price it would be appreciated. In any event thank you all for your help without which I could not have done this. I hope I did not cause too much dissention among members as this was not my intention. I hope I can return with more stupid newbie questions about voltage checking so I can affirm that I repaired everything that needed attention. Onisius

3 pointsI am almost finished redoing a 953 that has been in my family since very early in its life. I have been searching for the factory headlight housings for appx 1 year. Hoping to make its first show at the end of this month but I cannot locate these darn housings. Any one have ideas. I did buy new lenses off of glen but no housings to put them on. Thanks in advance For any help!

3 pointsOkay, sorry if I got you J-D fans stirred up for nothing. Ran across my latest project on CL today after ignoring it for quite some time, just because of the name and the colors I failed to open the link. Well, I clicked on the link today and was shocked by what I saw. A 22hp Kohler horizontal shaft V-twin driving an Eaton 11 hydro via drive shaft to a 2 speed Peerless differential. All of this combined with a 3 point cat 0 hitch, front and mid pto's, 27X9.50-15 rear tires and 1" front spindles! What is it? An MTD!!! The CL ad read "Yard Man tractor for sale" and indeed that is what it was but unlike any I had ever seen or was expecting. Just hauled it home this afternoon and after fluid changes and a tune up I'll get started on the cosmetics including a new low-back seat (black) and some olive paint to cover up the yellow, the decals are going away. All of the sheet metal is straight and the dash is in good condition which is a huge plus. It ain't gonna' be pretty but should be quite a worker.

3 pointsI had a pair seized up with surface rust. I lightly sanded around the exposed ball surface and oiled them, used a rod to try and work them until it moved slightly, sanded the exposed surface rust area on the ball and socket repeated untill it eventually was fully freed and oiled them.
-
3 pointsEds idea would be easier but if you're wanting to do this project it wouldn't be difficult but a fair amount of fiddling. But keep in mind what Steve mentioned. If the hydros came from a 78 or newer they are for vertical shaft lawn tractors. The B-series from 74-77 were horizontal and would be what you need.

3 pointsOutstanding Stupid newbie questions don't exist here. What we have are excellent questions by someone who hasn't done something before and is smart enough to ask for advice.
-
3 pointsFirst thing I would try (be sure the wife isn't home at the time) is to lay them on a pan and heat them up to about 400 F in an oven, take them outside and load the ends up with paraffin wax on all sides of the ball sockets. One at a time clamp them in a vice or to a solid object and move the balls as far as you can using a 5/8" rod a couple of feet long. I did this with a top link from a 3 point and it worked. Don't tell the wife.

3 points@onisius I'm glade you got it running. Most of the time it's just a matter of getting help with questions that we don't understand. Sorry for all the technical answers. Most of the fixes are quite simple. I learned everything I know because the guys here took time to walk me through the process of how it works. Good luck on your wheel horse.

3 pointsCleaned 'er up a bit, new seat and R4's for the rear, blade fabbed up and mounted. This one will be the prime snow mover.
-
3 pointsBasically, what I'm saying is don't rewire the house just because a light bulb burned out. With about a half century experience in the electrical field AND Wheel Horses I've seen this countless times. The brilliance in the Wheel Horse engineering is the simplicity of the design. More often than not the brilliance of troubleshooting is to not overlook the simplicity of the problem.

2 pointsFinally got the engine in my daughters suburban after a year. Few small things left but end is in sight now.
-
2 pointsCall me lazy, but I use a 2 gal pump up that I set between my legs on my golf cart and go around spraying - easy to pump up when needed ...at 77 I can't lug much around - cart is great for that...
-
2 pointsIf you were to build a mounting bracket on a and attach the pump handle to an off set rod attached to a wheel (sort of like a crank shaft) you could have a ride-on-sprayer!
-
2 pointsThey are the older Sundstrand units. One is still mounted to the frame with head stand and all linkage, so I should have pretty much everything I would need. I know I would need the smaller drive pulley with the bolt on fan rather than the large diameter pulley with fan made as part of it that is on the units. Also will need to modify or replace the head stand. So I guess it would wind up as an 877 clone. Supposedly they work, but for the additional $40 for two complete transaxles, I figure it is worth taking the risk.
-
2 pointsI see you have a Gates Green Belt on the PTO. Because of the belt profile it may want to flip sideways in the pulleys. Keep an eye on it. I've tried them and had that problem. The Gates "A" belt is deeper and more flexible and will handle the angle of the mule drive just fine. $550 would be what I'ld try to sell it for. I know you've got many hours in it and when you sell it you'll get paid $1 per hour for your time. I quit making them pretty and then selling them .... no profit in it! They sell just as well if they are dirty but mechanically sound. Let the next owner do the pretty thing.

2 pointsSo while I did a complete tear down I did not break the hydro down and rebuild it. And as luck would have it, it appears the seals are shot as it has leaked since I finished the build last year. So so I am finally getting to tearing the rear half of tractor back down and will replace seals, polish the brass slippers and while I am in here this deep, I will rebuild the valve control. I will lean on the thread @ztnoo did for tech support as far as the valve control goes. Pics of the inititial tear down. With a 3 point this is tedious at best. For those who need to do this, be careful to loosen if not remove the ball that connects the tunnel Hydro lever from the nylon cam which is on front facing part of the pump. I have taken a couple pics of the filter which can sometimes be clogged but which requires the pump be removed to access it. My filter is good to my eyes. And the tractor had no issues with power. So I'm hoping when I break down the pump everything is good and only seals need replaced. I am juggling several projects but felt that this one would be worth tagging into it he original thread.

2 points@Ed Kennell who is your little buddy on ole HP 321 ? Looks like he is ready to roll. The brush cutter could be a little dangerous.
-
2 pointsHi Des, as you are in the U.K., the trailers here are generally not as wide as the ones in the U.S. If you are just planning to take one tractor to shows a single axle trailer will do fine. However as many of us know, this hobby grows and the collection grows in size, so therefore a larger trailer is needed if you are planning of collecting more. I have a 16ftx6.6ft Ifor Williams tilt bed trailer which is great and I can get around 5 tractors with attachments on. Harry

2 pointsThese are some pretty obscure pics. Apparently I need more practice at staging my tractor for a decent pic!!! @Shynon brought this one from Minnesota down for me today! I picked it up at the Portage show---which was totally awesome by the way! thanks Tom for a nice little tractor! I can't wait to give it to dad for his birthday!

2 pointsJim, The width of my 6 x 12 trailer is 96" outside of fender to fender. The maximum width of my Tacoma pickup is 84", outside rear-view mirror to mirror. I don't feel like I'm going to take out any cars, but there have been some mailboxes on the right side of the road that may have felt a bit like jumping back as I passed by.

2 pointsGoing back to original post He said he had fuel compression and spark Wheel horse c-125 with kohler 301 engine wont fire but turns over. I have made sure there is fuel getting to the engine and there is a strong enough spark to start it. Also we have good enough compression. So what is the problem?
