18 pointsBeing that there isn't any type of seller shoutout or seller recognition board, I wanted to mention it still. Thanks to: (In no particular order) - Lincoln at A-Ztractors (odds and ends parts and all around nice guy!) - Kelly Holister (WH enthusiast and used parts seller here in Michigan) - Lowell the Wheelhorseman1000 (great hitch and WH info) - Carl in Swonton, OH. (not on the internet as he is one of those elderly types that does just fine without it. Super nice guy and used parts seller) And Last but not least - Paul (aka: oldredrider) for sending me a very nice Rock Shaft and installation parts for a great price! You all have helped me get my tractors running and refurbished to use and soon restore. Without people like you all this great hobby would vanish along with these tractors that we all like and use.

8 pointsHello everybody! My name is Jerry and i just bought a Raider 12 for my stepdaughter and i to restore and maybe modify. I am a jet engine mechanic by trade, my stepdaughter is going to an AG high school and is really getting into tractors. She said she loves them so i found an oldie for sale that looked ok and was within my budget. I really new to this stuff so i help you guys and gals will help me. First off, im trying to find out what year my tractor is. I have attached a photo of the ID tag. Hope someone can help. We want to do a full frame up restoration and maybe even enter it into a couple shows at the local fairs next year.

8 pointsHad a great time at The Mentone show and Swap Meet met Racin Bob and hung out with my Homeys here are some Pics.

7 pointsThis is why I love this forum . The willingness of our vendors and fellow members to help each other out . leaves those other forums green with envy , or would that be red ? Thats our old Allis Chalmers dealership still no computer . It's all on microfiche , card system and I remember seeing that somewhere !

6 pointsI'm sure 953 nut will be along with his Amen to that Brother ... and deservably so. I would personally like to thank plain old fellow members who went/are willing to go out of their way or took the time to help me find parts. Hopefully I can pass it forward.
-
5 pointsSo the 953 that I replaced the condenser and points on is Wheel Horse; what a relief!

5 pointsim getting a shed hopefully this week. Considered building one but this time of year extra time is scarce and we are still unpacking from the move 3 weeks ago. Anyway I had to get 2 1/2 yards (just under 5k lbs) of 3/4 stone. I'd heard these tractors move material very well, I knew it pushed snow great. So I dumped half the load out and graded it out with my 3/12. Made short work of it pushed the heavy pile with ease, impressive.

4 pointsToday as I swung myself into the seat getting ready to mow the lawn, I heard a crack. The kind that makes you sick to your stomach. Got off to see what happened and noticed the seat was loose. Well the pictures tell the rest of the story. Fortunately, three hours later, its as strong as ever and ready for another 35 years of seat banging.

4 pointsHmmm, a couple years ago I had the mechanism in my left ear surgically removed and replaced with a prosthetic mechanism. The mechanism I was born with had gone bad. So, I guess I should have applied for a new social security number afterwards. ... the way I look at it, if it started out as a Wheel Horse, anything that is done to it to keep it alive is preserving a Wheel Horse. Great looking tractors!
-
4 pointsHere are a few of me and my Dad with his 1963 633. I was maybe 2yrs old in 1st pic, 3 or 4 in the next two. Check out the seat on the hood!! Yeah I lived through it and have a great couple of pics to show it! He died when I was 10.

4 pointsI can't say I wanted to be back in Indiana just for the show but I'll have to say it was on my mind. I really enjoyed it and I'm loving being back home. Geez! The kids were over for dinner tonight and made me turn on the AC for the first time. It was only a cool 87 degrees in the house and I still had my flannel shirt on. They seem to think i need to be re-acclimated to Indiana weather
-
4 pointsWe'll be out side "shooting the breeze" in the parking lot somewhere after dinner Thurs night too!

4 pointsI'm coming this year and this is my first show. I did make my reservation at comfort Inn but I won't be there until Thursday evening . I have to drop my brother off in New Castle PA so I had to wait until Thursday. But you guys can help look out for a electric lift for my 2000 314-8 if you would. I wasn't going to come because I have a bad left heel. They think it's a simple fractor but it's not that simple to me. I won't be doing a lot of walking but I wanted to at least make 1 show before I get to where I can't go at all.

3 pointsExcellent Horse! Don't wreck the Stallion using your ingenuity! If NOS parts aren't available, just call the scrap man. Don't you dare give up and no green paint.....or else!

3 pointsThe best way I found to keep the honey do list from growing is always leave a little something unfinished on the last project till I get ready to start another one.

3 pointsI "make too much noise" while removing the dishes from the dishwasher; so I'm not allowed to do it anymore! There are lots of other tasks that I have learned annoy my wife; I do them while she is home so she will forbid me from doing them any more! She hasn't caught on yet.

3 pointsYou may want to convert to a front mule drive deck system. There are probably more of this type available. We can supply details if you are interested in this conversion. The best place to find parts is to come to the Big Show in PA in a couple weeks. You will find everything you need. .
-
3 pointsBob, I've got a tractor you can ride at the show if needed. It is an 8 speed if you can handle that.

3 pointsWhen I worked in a friend's diesel shop we serviced and repaired a lot of odd equipment . Got a guy that brought an old Freightliner in for some quick repairs and a grease job - no problem until I was under it and the owner reached inside to start the engine to show the shop owner a noise he'd heard . I was still on the creeper near the rear suspension , had just finished the main drive shaft when it started up the Cummins and we went out the door in 3rd gear into the parking lot , headed for the old weight scales and their protective barriers . Ended up off the creeper , hanging onto the frame to avoid the Henrickson suspension ( mouse almost won't fit under those) and trying to stay out of the main driveshaft by holding onto the bundles of air lines . Luckily , I broke the main rear park service feed and that set the brakes enough to kill the engine . Glad I had just adjusted them nice and snug since they were way out of spec when I first started the service work . Lot of road rash down my back , almost ripped my pants clean off and tore a new pair of jeans , but no real damage to anything . Took two guys and the shop owner to keep me from beating the guy to death with that grease gun , he got the worst of it and a large bill to repair the air system , as well as the jeans and a new creeper for the shop . Been around too much equipment that doesn't have a safety start system , I never leave anything in gear and if a parking device is not working it is fixed promptly or the machine stays out of service until it's corrected . These tractors are capable of killing you or someone else , way too many pictures of folks getting hurt and property damage out there - be careful and always double check . Sarge

3 pointsGetting a poster made and final plans under-way to attend the Show, with one of his tractors. Please take a moment and stop by, when you see us... *Talked to Mr. Johnson--and hope to be inside one of the buildings there- glenn

3 pointsWhat a wonderful day for a tractor show, sunny skies, temperatures in the low 80s and lots of great tractors. The featured tractor was RED! OK, it wasn't , but it was RED. I took my Hot Rod 953 and here are a few of the more interesting tractors, trucks and other vehicles I saw. Fair warning; this last photo is rather hard to look at, but here goes!

3 pointsThe older Carter N's had a flat metal spring, button, and a rubber washer. This is the spring. Since the drain can be a problem with leakage, I just replace the bowl with a solid one.

3 pointsSo far this year I've used the blade with mine to smooth over the edge of the front yard that serves as the shoulder of the street where the kids still living with us park their cars -- cleaned up the ruts made during the winter. Then moved some decorative day lilies away from the edge of the driveway and skimmed off the old mulch and soil that had piled up too high and re-graded the strip. That's so far. Coming up, now that I've taken down an above-ground pool, I've got to scrape up the sand and some of the compacted soil that was underneath it. That gets moved as fill in a sink hole where a tree used to be and the roots decayed and caved in, then I can put down some loam and grade it over, then re-grade where the pool was too. And the flower beds around the house need to be re-done, and there's a bunch of scrub brush and sumac in the back yard that's actually growing on top of some fill left behind when the house was built that can be pulled out and the fill re-used in a couple of spots... The blade is really coming in handy and I'm just using it for earth work. (For snow in winter, I've got the 2-stage snowthrower.) So far, I haven't had to put the wheel weights on for the light work. I expect I'll need them when I deal with the more compacted stuff that was under the pool, although the soil here is sandy and breaks up pretty easily. The 520 will definitely earn its keep as a work Horse! The nice part about using the tractor is that it's got the muscle to move material, but it won't tear up the lawn around the project like a skid steer or anything with crawler tracks will. Might not be as fast, but slow and careful gets the work done without making another mess... and another project.

3 pointsHarvested some beans last week. I also earthed up the potatoes, so a picture doing the job and one a week later showing how fast they recover! On the left are sunflowers.

3 points@Racinbob I was out there, but not knowing you, it was hard to locate you!!! I asked a couple guys if they knew you, they said "yes, but they hadn't seen you today". I was in the third row back with the table with all the new mufflers on it if you saw that. Anyway, I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet and have a conversation. I did meet a few people out there that I was able to connect with their screen names here on Red Square. All in all-----a very fun day. Except, that I brought home almost as much as I hauled down there. "Almost". Did sell a few things, which freed up some cash to acquire some other things!!! @19richie66 PM'd me and we have a conversation started on the electric PTO. Jim

3 pointsLooking great! I've spent the day mowing hay and planting beans, tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. My son kept wanting me to work on an old tiller he found. Fixed that problem - just reminded him that I still have to help him on his horses. Can't wait till after church tomorrow - gonna spend a little time on my 953 project! Everybody needs a little horsie time.

3 pointsThree hoods welded together. No easy but it can be done. I still dont know what it will look like painted. May rat rod it afterall
-
3 pointsBesides the sandblasting session this morning, got another half dozen parts primed and painted. Still have some more that were blasted that need to be cleaned so they can be primed and painted tomorrow. Unfortunately, my console plate and dash plate were pitted to much for just primer alone, so have to smooth them out with some spot putty before priming. Did have a little distraction today, got the Church mowed (almost 2 hrs on a John Deere), and me and the boy (24, just out of the Marines) went shooting with my friend I help in his conceal carry classes, nothing like some AR15 mag dumps to put a smile on the face! Now, back to work. (Note to self, when washing off red over spray from face and arms, DON'T use one of the wife's new white wash cloths!)

2 pointsmy kids have been driving my C120 long stick AUTO for years, even before they could reach the pedals. I made sure they could handle the tractor before they ever tried to mow the yard. my youngest daughter I think does a bad job mowing just so I won't ask her to do it anymore. Now that I'm not mowing father-in-law's yard or his mother's yard I do seem to have more time to mow my own lol eric j
