14 pointsWell I certainly don't need any more but the cuz and I couldn't pass on this mostly original 1276 . I believe the seat and three spoke steering wheel aren't correct . It did come with a snowblade , chains , and a homemade plough . The handle on the hood was free ... the owner was 98 years old and needed it to get on . Kinda feel bad for what We paid though he'd would having taken less . ! He also had manuals and a couple brochures to go along with it !!! More pics to come...she went right to the stables new mechanic for a full service . and as a bonus...

5 pointsYep...looks like a 654. I really like how the PO has that weight on the front of the Homelite.
-
5 points64 654, 604 and 704 would not have the battery tray. Correct engine would be h60 tecumseh but the kohler is a nice upgrade!
-
4 pointsDid some spring cleaning/shuffling over the weekend, the horses now have their own barn.

3 pointsAny one seen anything like this before??? Its a dual port I believe, which would make it 1600cc? Quirky for sure. Never heard it run. Have to wonder if there's enough air movement to keep the thing cooled. No shroud or fan........doubtful, IMO.
-
3 pointsThe comparisons are actually quite germane, to the technical or purist, but to the layman and average person it is a mute point, because they know about that which they are actually speaking and technicalities does not enter into the equation.

3 pointsIf you can dish it out you better be able to take it! Boy can we dish it out.

3 pointsThe badges were made by @Vinylguy. I don't think that WHCC has any issues with RedSquare taking over. We attend the show, support the show, support becoming paid members of WHCC and highly promote the show. If anyone is interested in making the name tags send me a note and I will help out with the costs.

3 pointsWhile I have "several" Horses, my 160 auto will be the last to go if I have to part company. Probably go with me to the grave.
-
3 pointsHi Richard Won't be to the big show this year. Can't predict when or if the house will sell, then there's the storage and looking for our new "last home". Hopefully this process goes well.

2 pointsI remember that 2 years ago, someone from RedSquare supplied some small pin-on badges that we could write our RedSquare name on to help some of the 'newbies' (and those of us with old and bad memories) to identify each other. They helped me to connect names with faces, but with my 74 year old memory, I can forget some names a year later. I've been attending for six years, but I am still learning who's who. I think the badges were available at the check-in table when we paid our Collectors Club dues. I thought it was a great idea. I know the Collectors Club is sensitive about RedSquare taking over, but I hope they didn't object since the RedSquare members really help make the show. Jim

2 pointsThis way posted on that C sales site in San Antonio yesterday. I replied but someone beat me to it. Anyone on here get it? Can anyone identify it? does that 2 spoke steering wheel and slotted hood narrow it down (I'm beginning to learn the subtle differences in these old horses?) Is there a space at the steering wheel raising up and moving forward the gas tank and hood to make room for a different engine I'm thinking the Engine looks like an old Briggs from the looks of that flo-jet carb air cleaner assembly.

2 pointsI really don't have any hobbies. I just like tinkering with wood and metal. I also enjoy building things I "need". My horses are mostly for yard work and I now have one for each grandson. When they get old enough to take care of them I will have to get another one or two or ...
-
2 pointsI do realize this. Just have to be careful around who has a camera.
-
2 pointsMy primary hobby for the past four decades has been Street Rods, The '48 Ford I have was built thirty years ago and has over 100K on the odometer. I am also a volunteer with Habitat for Humanities and work with them about two days a week.I do the majority of their plumbing and electrical work as well as carpentry work. I also enjoy woodworking and recently built a set of cabinets for our laundry room. The oak was harvested from our property when we had the site for our new house cleared. Not quite finished yet, but nearly done.

Tractors are all cleaned up and I just got finished loading them on the trailer.

2 pointsThose look great together love the new red and old patina side by side, What finish is on the old suburban...oil?, wax? clear-coat?
-
2 pointsOther hobbies are other garden tractors, including signs and memrobilia, AMC cars (between me and my dad we have 6 cars, 10+ engines, 1 AMX drag car that will be ready to roll in 1 week (which none of the cars would ever be powered by chevy as we use those for boat anchors! Also like ford and Pontiac powered pontiacs! Ford trucks as I've had about 10 in last 10 years and collecting tractor toys!

2 pointsCub Cadets have the Farmall rear transaxle exactly like what's found on the IH Farmall Cub, the "Original" was a belt driven clutch to drive shaft before going to the direct flywheel clutch/shaft set-up, then in the 80s MTD bought them out and went aluminum vs cast iron for the housing then of course even cheaper recently, Jeff.
-
2 pointsyou will need the belt guard it helps support the bottom of the belt when the clutch is pushed it gets slack around the pulley And the belt ur using looks a bit small
-
2 pointsScroll down on the home page and go to the vendors section. Look for A-Z tractor and contact him. He might be able to help ya out. But welcome to the Horse Family!
-
2 pointsTake a look in our manuals section, there will be 520 manuals in there. As far as parts, if on line worries you check locally for a Toro dealer. If new parts are still available they should be able to help you. There are also many parts suppliers listed here under "RedSquare Links."
-
2 pointsCould be a 604, 654 or 704. Previous owners have changed it up a bit, but not a bad start for a project, Just needs the belt guard, seat, fenders, tool box and a bit of love.
-
2 pointsClean and degrease that thing and you will be singing. Never even have to worry about the hassle of a cooler

2 pointsShe was a good tractor, far better than what these new ones are that they are getting $1200 to $1500 for. Paid $250 for the original tractor, one set of front tires, and four years of service, and sold her for $275.
-
2 pointslets try some pictures of the horse. I just joined for 2 years so maybe now I can post some photos? I tried earlier today but could not. Hey it worked !

1 pointLots of ways, some mentioned but I'll add a couple more. Soap, sand and water, more water than sand. Cap the tank, strap the tank to a tire (tire chains will help) and drive around for a while. Check it until nice and clean! Plain old vinegar will remove rust pretty darned well, but take longer than the hydrochloric acid, but safer and more environmentally friendly (though I have nothing against HCl2 used wisely!) I'm sure one could use sand and vinegar and some means of agitating as well. I would suggest taking that process further by at least using metal-prep afterwards and you might as well go another step more and coat that now nice, clean, rust-free tank with something made for that purpose. I believe POR has something but there are others as well. If you just clean it good it will rust again very quickly! Especially the top where there is no gas and some occasional condensation.
