11 pointsAny one seen anything like this before??? Its a dual port I believe, which would make it 1600cc? Quirky for sure. Never heard it run. Have to wonder if there's enough air movement to keep the thing cooled. No shroud or fan........doubtful, IMO.

5 pointsHello, all. Well, after some carb work, another flush on the tranny and engine, some valve adjustments and amongst other things a fresh coat of Penetrol, here she is! I've mowed 5 decent sized yards now, and so far it's doing very well! It burns about a quart of oil every two house, a rebuild will be in order here sooner or later. Now I just need to go through the generator, a idler pulley for the transmission belt, a few odds and ends, and we should be set! I can't believe I got this for 100.00, I only intended to get the thing for the deck, I had no intentions of even using the tractor. Well.. can't complain! I'm also pretty sure this might be original paint. I can't find any overspray or masking marks.

5 pointsI finally got my ignition problem fixed on my 520-HC I replaced the coil when the secondary resistance was not within specs which made it run better but still not starting when hot. Then I replaced the module today and left it run for at least ten minutes and it started numerous times with no problem A big to everyone who helped me with this project! 20170517_130637.mp4

4 pointsYou let a good (great) machine slip through your fingers, the motion control linkage needed a bit of adjusting, after 19 years with mine I bought new a nearly abused the hydro is still going strong and fine but hey that's just my , and of course how well the unit was maintained through out its life fluid and filter changes ect, Jeff.

4 pointsFinally got the deal complete with Lane Ralph on this nice B-80. The Haban sickle bar is amazing. The engineering that went in to this small piece of equipment back in the day is awesome. Still working out a few bugs but got it going. Needed a throttle cable and lever which was a fairly easy swap. Removed the front plate that covers light bucket hole and will install the light bucket and nice original lens without any cracks. Major item that needs attention next is head gasket. Not excited about that since my past experience has not been good with head bolts. Will hopefully get to use the sickle bar tomorrow evening. P.S. IF anyone feels lead to come help change the heaf gasket, please feel free to do so.

3 pointsIMHO... The C-160 Auto is one of the BEST ever made and I think you'll regret disposing of it. The hydro overhaul should not be overwhelming a task... I'm just sayin'..... I bought mine in 1978 or 79 and love it....
-
3 pointsIts about 1 inch longer than this one and the front mounting tab is farther back to make up that difference. I needed a low profile air filter on the one above, with the extra inch or so the original k181 filter wound have fit.

3 pointsTo avoid my horribly slow typing here's the thread for you. The only difference between the 5007 and 5010 transmissions are irrelevant to your questions.
-
3 pointsIn my opinion for $300, it would be worth snapping up, if the deck is sound there's your money. The tractor looks ok, might last and you could bang a Kohler on there if the engine fails. Of course it also depends on how far you have to travel to collect? And

3 pointsSearch for the thread by @stevasaurus "So you want to save that 3 Piece Transmission" He answered that exact question for me and it has some good pictures. It's a great thread to reference for reassembly

2 pointsModerators, please move if not appropriate for this forum. I have received several messages regarding tractors and parts I've had for sale and if I'm getting out of the Wheel Horse hobby. Yes I'm selling the rest of my project tractors ( GT 1848 and C-81) and parts that I've accumulated over the last 18 years. I'm only keeping a couple of tractors as we are down sizing and moving soon. I'll still be collecting but need to take a break and make the move easier😊. I appologize for for all the adds in the Classified section but I don't know how else to liquidate all this stuff. Im planning on creating a list of what I have left and will make it available to those that ask. If someone is interested, I'd be willing to offer a sweet deal on the total package. I'm off to the realtor this morning but will work on a list this afternoon. You can email me ar burleyfarm@yahoo.com or pm me for information.

2 pointsI knocked down some weeds this past weekend and Pop had to have some seat time, he had a great time and I got a break to stretch
-
2 pointsShe was a good tractor, far better than what these new ones are that they are getting $1200 to $1500 for. Paid $250 for the original tractor, one set of front tires, and four years of service, and sold her for $275.
-
2 pointsWell, now that I have been bitten by the WH bug, and that I have four of them, it is time to say goodbye to my trusty Kohler Command 15 engine and it's current Ranch King body. Bought a 90's Ranch King several years ago, knew it wouldn't last long as the body and deck were on a fast decline. After 2 years, the deck gave up the ghost, but the Kohler was still beating strong. I just happened to run across a free (best kind) early 2000's Ranch King with a blown Briggs IC 16.5 hp engine. Swapped the Kohler into the new donor body, and back in business. After another 2 years, it is now time to make room for the red. She was a good tractor, now she will go on to service someone else's yard! Say goodbye to old green.

2 pointsHope you cleaned all that oil/dust residue while you had it tore down, those Onans like to be clean, Jeff.
-
2 pointsA while back I was the happy recipient of a 1995 312-8. The engine had a very bad wobble, so it sat parked. Recently I obtained another Magnum 12 which runs perfectly so I switched. Later today the 312 will be setup with my older (1994) 42" RD deck and will begin lawn duty. It looks like it got a little sun bleached, but very little surface rust!

2 pointsMy 1076 has that riser too. I've noticed that the 8hp models do not have that riser. I think this was done to make room for the larger engines.
-
2 pointsDon't count the engine out completely even if there is some smoke. Clean the breather assembly (steel wool and reed valve) when you get it home. Once it's dirty enough to start pulling oil in and causing blow-by, it will keep doing it -- and keep smoking because of it. If you're very lucky, the fix might be that simple. If not, for $300, it's worth repair or engine replacement!

2 pointsthere's one on the upright bracket next to the coil to hold the wires coming up thru the shroud Brian

2 pointsI put roller chain on last year and what a differance, like the front end is glued to the ground. TSC #40 roller chain an extra splice link about $23.00 . Best money I have spent . Mine is a 1979 C-101. Bob

2 pointsJust power washed this stuff. Still have a few things to take off the frame, before I wire wheel it and the wheels too.
-
2 pointsA couple hours later and I've gotten the Eaton out of there. The biggest challenge was just ring all the old nasty cotter pins out of the interior portion of the tunnel. I've got one stuck in there so good I'm sure if it's coming out at all.... See? A little rusty. But it's all out now. I love how WH used different bits and pieces and left the frames alone, allowing these kinds of swaps easy enough. And there we are. The other tractor that's getting the swap should come apart easier, since I've already had it apart not long ago...

2 pointsI watched the video twice last night. Unless I really missed it Steve never takes the shift forks out (I wouldn't if I didn't have to) But never let it be said that I let instructions stand in the way of a project. The shift forks are in (yes they CAN be put in backwards - glad I have a big box of roll pins) complete with the balls, spring, pin and the "cap" that I found in the rag I used to mop up the excess tranny fluid.

2 pointsFor that price you can't go wrong!! If you want it, grab it quick-I've missed out on a couple good deals because I hesitated.

2 pointsWas able to use the sickle on one side of my creek bank last night. However, was not even gonna try to video because the tractor kept sliding towards the creek

2 pointsMost of what is in carb cleaner IS lacquer thinner. Berrymans may have a little MEK thrown in to make it hotter.I start out with straight gasoline to dissolve all the oil and grease away. the reason for this is to just leave the stubborn stuff for the expensive carb cleaner. No sense in wasting the cleaning power of the more expensive stuff by dissolving grease and oil into your soak bath Lacquer thinner will dissolve non-ethanol gum and varnish better than the grey crap left behind by the ethanol gasoline. Motorcycle carbs are notorious for small passages internal to the type.By accident, i discovered that this stuff will work, albeit very slowly to soften things up. You can actually see bubbles coming out of the passages for a half hour or so when it is working. http://www.crcindustries.com/products/freeze-off-174-super-penetrant-11-5-wt-oz-05002.html Years ago, the carb cleaner you bought was as hot as fire and worked much better than what we have today..I almost forgot, this stuff probably does the best job of all, but it is really messy to work with. I think it would go better for me now as i have much more experience with carbs. Read the reviews and note how many are five star. https://www.amazon.com/Yamalube-Carburetor-Cleaner-Dip-oz/dp/B002GU4SPA

2 pointsI picked up the new switch from the dealer today. Came home, ate dinner, changed clothes and installed the switch. I had already looked up how to test the relay, and having a ~12V power supply helped do just that, and with that and a multi-meter had found the relay to be good. Install switch, turn key, I get lights, which was an improvement. Close the hood and hop on, she fires right up. Cut two weeks+ worth of grass until it got dark. Pulled the mower back to the garage and tried the headlights, they came on, which was also a good thing. Guess that switch needed to be replaced Thanks for all the suggestions and helping me work through this. Tommy

2 pointsCome on now! I've not had time to get mine back together and you're making me want to get back on mine! Funny how life kicks you in the rear just when you're enjoying time in the pasture with the horses! Family comes first though - the horses are just waiting there patiently!

2 pointsSeem like it would be easier to move the engine and other front end parts to the 312-A

2 pointsI use Berryman's carb cleaner, about $20 per gallon, can be bought at Wal-Mart. This stuff will clean every thing off of an old carb. An important note: Make sure that you do not leave any thing that is not made of metal on the carb, it will be gone after soaking your carb.
-
2 pointsI have a box of "Big Show Stuff" in my office, at the rate it is filling up I may need a bigger box soon.
