13 pointsGot 3-tractors, 2-snow plows, and 3-decks. Plus 3-walk behinds. That is just the first load Fourth tractor I took to help pull them out

11 pointsSeveral years ago after my Dad passed, my sister had come down and picked out some tractors that she wanted and took them back to north Florida with her. Well long story short, they didnt have time to mess with them due to thier business keeping them busy. So earlier this year she called me and asked me if I wanted them. Ahh.... yeah! So this weekend I made the trip up to her place and picked them up. They had sat for a while but I managed to get them all running before I loaded them. So I have Dad's first wheelhorse, a C-120,a C175 that he cobbled together(and is also the only tractor I have a photo of him with) and a Gilson hydro. The mowette mustang will be fixed for the grandkids. So they are all coming back home. Now I really need to build a bigger storage awning.

9 pointsThis is part of the load I picked up. This C-121had been sitting outside so long the tires were in 6" of dirt. All it needed was a choke cable and gas tank valve. Runs great

7 pointsHomer is a typical Southern man. When a tool breaks, he moves it to his backyard to be repaired another time. Turns out I'm the repair guy and have been attempting to barter for an old C-120 and a Commando 7 buried in the yard. He surprised me with the C-125 black hood a while ago after numerous mower, chain saw, weed wacker and whatever repairs. The horses are all out of a shop in Joplin now gone after the big blow... Soooo, 1 repaired old Sears LT and another that I took apart just so he could see after running without oil that the cam was in 4 pieces and the rod in 5 and he said I could have the 120. We pulled it out of the dirt with 4 flats, destroying several ant mounds in the process. Truly, not bad condition thanks to Homer's attention to the use of tarps. He tells me the 301 was bored .030 over and his mind is sharp for a 92 year old so I'm inclined to believe him. May be able to save that Commando in the near future if I repair that old Bolens GT14 first - and so on. So, my collection is now at a lowly 2. I don't think I'll restore this - will just make her a reliable runner and make the wife happy The deck can use a little metal but seems salvageable. Another C saved!

7 pointsAs stated in my last topic "Easter Horse", my new job has left me no time to finish restoring the 48" deck that came with the C-120 auto. With grass a growin' I found this on CL, a 48" deck off a C-161, for $200, great shape, just a little surface rust. Has the newer greaseable spindles & round hole blades. Brought it home & cleaned it up, greased the spindles, sharpened the blades, (almost new) & hooked it up to the C-120. So, time to put the "new" girls to work for the first time, got the C-81 with the 36" RD deck out first to mow around the house, tree's, & bushes. she did a great job. Got the C-120 out next to finish the rest, drove her out into position, dropped the deck, & engaged the PTO.... WHAT A BEAST !!! Total different animal !!! Ran like the deck wasn't even there! This was the first time for me using an auto, took a minute to get used to, but didn't take long to fall in love! Cut my mowing time in half ! All I need now is a bigger yard. Also, special thanks to Glen Pettit for the parking brake knobs & free gifts !!! What a great guy !!!

7 pointsWent to the local Pioneer Power swap meet today ended up bringing these two once in a lifetime sprayers to add to my "Allied" attachments collection. This is the 2nd trail and spray i have found. And i even scored this one i never thought i would find a Matador. Both of these were produced by the Hudson Sprayer Co. I have the literature for both models.

6 pointsWell just had this delivered today but idk what I'm gonna do with it yet.. may get it running and sell it or keep it for the kids..

6 pointsScored a rough c121 with 42" blade and 36" sd deck for $200 and a running '71 jd 120 with 48" deck for $200. The 8 speed out of the c121 is going in one of my b80's and the jd's going to be up for sale.

6 pointsToday worked on the Bucket and got it put together. Will add a knife blade on the bottom to save the edge and will add 1/2" Material to the Top to stiffen up the Bucket so I can put a GRAB HOOK to pick things up. I think I will take a Break for a bit and go out to Rural King and see what kind of hooks they have. I also need to install the Bucket Brackets and fit them in place. Here are some Pics.

5 pointsFrom left to right: 1987 414-8, 1986 310-8 finally 1995 312-8. Recently picked up the 2-stage blower hooked upto the 310-8 and the parts needed for 312-8 to get back on the road. Here's the dilemma: I got too many, gonna have to trim the herd, but which to go?

5 pointsI've been so busy at my new job this is the first time in two weeks I've been able to sit down at the computer. Picked up a free MTD mower on Friday, Easter weekend. A friends neighbor said it ran great, (better than his new one) but wouldn't go into forward. I figured it would be a good freebie to flip for some money so I picked it up after work. Easter Sunday I called a CL ad & flipped it for a !!! Met a great 18 year old young man who just started his first job & has been fixing tractors with his Grandfather to earn extra money. The was part of a package deal he got with a Cub Cadet, (Grandpa said he had it running 15 mins. after unloading it! Will post a pic) Anyway, it was listed as a '73 Raider 12 that needed a new rod, but is has been repainted & there are no ID plates or serial numbers. Opinions wanted as to what it actually is... The Cub Cadet, Great kid, already headed for "trouble".

5 pointsOne Saturday morning a few years back I'm headed out to work, wife follows me to the door. She said you want to eat out or in tonight, I said I'll throw something on the grill, she ask anything in particular you would like, yea, I'd like for you to be standing here with your panties in your hand when I get home, I get the rolled eye smirk. Get home that evening, open the door, there she is standing there with said garment in hand. She says here they are and turns and tosses them in the laundry basket, then says here the rest of my stuff, delicate cycle, warm water, quarter scoop of powder, no bleach, then light the grill. God I love this women.

5 pointsIf that is the only problem you have Karl....life is good. Pull up a lawn chair, have a cold one and enjoy the view.

4 pointsToday I had made plans to go and look at a 1995 520-H rolling chassis. When I showed up to the gentleman's house, he opened the garage door and showed me the tractor. It had numerous parts pulled off of it and stacked in a pile. He had pulled the Onan P220 (736 hours) of off it to put on his Cub Cadet pulling tractor. He claimed it was a running, working tractor up until he yanked the engine last year. The only thing missing was the wiring harness. He told me to make him an offer, so I did. I then asked if he had any other Wheel Horse tractors or implements for sale. At first he said no, but a few seconds later he changed his mind, "Yes, actually I do!". So I followed him out back behind his shed and there sat a pretty rough C-85. He said the tractor isn't for sale, but he pointed and said, "I'd sell that." As I walked around the tractor and I see a sickle bar mower laying in the weeds, somewhat attached to the C-85. He had bought it, along with the tractor, a few years ago and didn't know much about. I made an offer and brought it home. Here are a few pictures. I think this is a SMS-425, but I'm not sure. I don't know too much about these sickle bar mower, but it's obvious there are some parts missing. Besides the front mounting bracket/"mule drive" and travel hook, is there anything else that is missing?

4 pointsI have a RE-BUILT Sundstrand 90-1136 power unit (hyd pump and hyd motor) to bolt right onto your 14hp Auto. I overhauled this unit last summer and it is ready to go. You'd only need to buy a new filter and bolt it on.....easy swap for anyone with wrenches. HOWEVER.... Red Sq doesn't like me to quote prices in this open forum so you'll need to contact me OUTSIDE of this forum. You can contact me via email at: daveoman@windstream,.net

4 pointsi am not going to put down POR15, but I am truly impressed with how durable the ari-guard coatings work with no special metal prep. i took the time to do the best i could and washed the thing with detergent after removing all the flaky rust. I have a MTD deck that was left outside with old grass residue, and the rust was peeling off in layers. I kept pecking away at it until it was solid but still rusty. I used the agri-guard on it with a cheap chip brush and could not believe the coverage and hardness. Two days after application, a wire brush in a drill barely dulled the shine. I used the black color on the deck underside, but if you want to put the coating in the sunshine, the aluminum color has U-V stabilizers. A one quart can will coat a big mower deck [underside] twice, but if you want two coats, you have to do it before the first coat is fully cured. It stayed put 100% after mowing for the season. Great for battery trays as well http://www.agriguardcoatings.com/ $30 for a quart of black color and $40 for the aluminum

3 pointsRecently purchased a 1973 14hp Automatic airhorse like the one in the pic here. Model is 1-0435. Need it as tug for my airplane. It won't go in reverse or forward anymore. Everything looks fine. The local Toro shop says the transmission has gone and no parts available anymore. I see it uses a Sundstrand 90-1136. Any ideas on repairs. I am not in a position to repair myself. Just. Looking to get replacement or substitute parts/sub assemblies for the local toro shop to effect a repair. Thank Paul .

3 pointsThe one I bought had two choke shafts with it. Removed two screws, slid the wrong shaft out and replaced it, bolted the plate back in and all is good.
-
3 pointsHere is a couple pictures of mine you will notice mine does not have holes for the guard either and did not have a hole for the lift rod until I got the measurements from Tom and drilled one in.
-
3 pointsWell, here as promised new tyres, I didn't really have to get these as the original marked turf savers held air and had tread, but my luck would mean they'd probably let go after the rims had been painted. (bit of dry cracking) These are 10.50/12 6 ply and 6.50/8, the ags on the rear should give a bit of bite for steering. A couple of other things, firstly note the rust, this picture was probably taken 8 months later. It shows one of the two tabs I made and welded to the towers to bolt the dashboard/steering assembly too. Around the same time I made up a bracket to carry the spool block, it falls nicely to hand here, plus the 'in' pressure line can be routed neatly under the main boom pivot. My plan was to make the 'out' return line drop down then go back in between lift ram and tower. Bucket bracket, crowd and dump ram tomorrow.

3 pointsUnhook the governor, get it going as fast as you can and crank the wheel! Let me know what happens!

3 pointsI am assuming that the ammeter reads zero (in the middle) when the tractor is not running. Do what Paul suggested first. Then, if the ammeter is still reading in the negative zone constantly when running, try removing the wires from the back of the ammeter, clean the connections, and try again. All of the tractor's 12 volts, with the exception of the starter, run through the meter. Without having the headlights turned on, the only thing that draws current is the ignition coil. A new ammeter is inexpensive, and might solve your problem.

3 pointsDoing a little more work on the 753 before the rain moves in. With alot of elbow grease and some solvent from work was able to now see the serial number on this little jewel. Hope to possibly see if the engine will fire up today. Found out some additional history on the tractor too from my friend. He bought it at an estate sale when his son was 7 yrs old. Had the engine running then after a small engine guy looked at it. That was approximately 10 yrs ago, his son is now 17.

3 pointsLooks Like you got plenty of help, good luck (my pic, just for fun) Had to play with input pulley size to get proper speed at rocker box.

3 pointsUsed my Johnny Bucket Jr on 12HP WH today. It did better then I expected as this area has some serious clay soil and it has rained on it a couple times so it was moderately packed. Anyway, here's are pics. My video failed to upload.

2 pointsI had a class to teach today but still managed to sneak down to the shop to play. Thanks to @farmer for the bumper idea I got my hydraulic tank cut out. I used 4x6x3/16 tube. Now I need to blast all the pieces and start assembly.

2 pointsFor those who like to make fun of old men and their problem a couple of pictures for your enjoyment . The results of removing tin and stuck belt. First picture is left arm reaching under fender and pulling on belt , second picture is right arm from everything. Expected some sympathy from head of household but she just shook her head and gave me the look.

2 pointsHi Jim...my horses are older, but sometimes I get the jerky clutch thingy. If yours was sitting all winter, it could be a little oxidation (rust) on the pulleys and in the grooves. It doesn't take much for the belt to grab when you let off the clutch. Solution, clean and shine those pulleys up and wipe with mineral spirits. Sometimes, I will give the belt a good wiping with mineral spirits also. Looking forward to the pictures to see why it is jumping the idler. I wonder if the jerking could be causing the belt to jump.

2 pointsIf your into collecting sprayers, I can well imagine why your pleased with that little lot. In my day job I sometimes use a tractor mounted sprayer (a tad bigger) the literature showing the lack of protection for the operator really shows how attitudes have changed! I don't know if you watched 'Braking Bad' but I look like Walter White when I'm spraying.
