12 pointsI have found 3 uses for the 312H and it's plow frame. WINTER Standard 48" snow blade SPRING Tiller Time SUMMER Trailer mover About 5 minutes to make the blade to ball hitch change. Both use the standard two pins from the blade. The tiller takes about 15 minutes. It uses the front blade pin and two bolts connecting the braces to the frame. Of course the PTO hoop must be opened to install the belt. Due to the arthritis in my neck, I only have about + - 10 degrees movement, so I am not able to look back. This is probably a good thing, and it may be the reason I like all my implements in front. It is much easier to wiggle a trailer into a tight space with the hitch on the front. And there is no danger of doing a back flip that can happen when pulling a heavy trailer with a rear hitch... ..don't ask.

9 pointsWent to the local Pioneer Power swap meet today ended up bringing these two once in a lifetime sprayers to add to my "Allied" attachments collection. This is the 2nd trail and spray i have found. And i even scored this one i never thought i would find a Matador. Both of these were produced by the Hudson Sprayer Co. I have the literature for both models.

9 pointsUsed my Johnny Bucket Jr on 12HP WH today. It did better then I expected as this area has some serious clay soil and it has rained on it a couple times so it was moderately packed. Anyway, here's are pics. My video failed to upload.

6 pointsFrom left to right: 1987 414-8, 1986 310-8 finally 1995 312-8. Recently picked up the 2-stage blower hooked upto the 310-8 and the parts needed for 312-8 to get back on the road. Here's the dilemma: I got too many, gonna have to trim the herd, but which to go?

5 pointsGlad to hear your finally getting yourself organised Horsefixer, letting the side down a bit there old chap. (and I'll leave the technical workshop terminology to your good self) No fabbing tonight because I want to share what happened today. I went to a collective agricultural auction, it's held four times a year and I try to go because it's only 20 minutes away and there's always a lot of stuff there, anyway.. Yes I bought a 48" kubota dung fork, now I've got to make some more brackets, but how could I leave it behind. Cost £90 but it's gonna look good on the ILS. Back to fabbing tomorrow.

4 pointsJust buy a trailer, that way you can put them in there and transport them to shows...you skip the step of having to load them...they would be ready to go... 🤗

4 pointsI think that the blower is going to go on the 416. Between the Onan and the hydraulic lift, should make blizzards a snap!

4 pointsWell yesterday I received my Bronze Bushings from ZORO and Today I received a E-Mail from my Steel Dude and I went and picked it up. I needed Some Drops and he hooked me up real good. All the pieces on the left and the large pieces under the small pieces on the right were freebies. And he told me any other drops I need are on the house. I could have brought home a bunch more steel but I didn't want to be a hog about it on the first run. I thought I would test fit the bushings in the Bucket Brackets. I will get on Fabbing soon as I have been installing 6 more new Panels on my Solar Array so once that is finished I will be back on this project. Besides I have to give that Farmer guy time to catch up!

4 pointsThe head of household is cranky due to very bad back pain. I would not dare should the rules to her , I would end up with a black eye. Only 2 more weeks to her operation , I hope I make it.

3 pointsThe K161 7 hp on the 753 I brought home last weekend was missing the air cleaner cover. So until I find an original I made up an aluminum one at the shop today from a old oil filter cover from a CNC machine and some aluminum plate. Cut oil filter cover down to approximate height and welded on the new cap. A little grind/polish and ready for paint.

3 pointsYou'll get a lot of opinions because there are a lot of things that work. I used Por 15 on the underside of mine a couple years ago and it's holding up real well. Grass will still build up but it comes off much easier.

3 points1/4-28 ones for sure...get some extras for the shelf Terry. Most places will have them in a variety pack straights, 90's & 45's.
-
3 points1/8" NPT has an OD of .405". That is almost 7/16". I think any I have seen are 1/4-28 in the hubs. Garry

2 pointsIs it a 1998 tractor? The first year that Toro produced the 5xi, the tierods would sometimes be overstressed by owners by this age and break. The replacement was a bit beefier. Also the tires should be run at 20 psi, not the 12 psi in the original owners manual. It was corrected in 1999. There isn't a physical connection in the steering system. It is a hydraulic system with a valve turned by the steering wheel and essentially a piston to turn the sector. It is not as true running as the maniual steering.
-
2 pointsI guess I don't under stand this statement. I would have a really hard time parting with any of my tractors, so I couldn't give any suggestions on which tractor another person should part with.
-
2 pointsI am coming up on the second anniversary of mine and am still gaining flexibility, will never be as good as prior to the injury but at least I am walking and able to enjoy life again.
-
2 pointsI have had this tractor for about 12 years , first time this has ever happened. The retainers are in place top and bottom on the engine. Belt looks ok . there is a retainer on the idler pulley arm and the piece of angle iron ( sheet metal ) is in place , I have ordered a new pulley , belt and spring. The clutch was acting strange in that it felt like it was jerky more that normal.I need to check the position of the idler arm. I am going to pull tins on both sides and take pictures. The belt was caught behind the pulley on the transmission and the idler arm for the idler pulley. Will post pictures tomorrow or Sunday . Way behind in yard work and getting the stare from The Empress of the Known Universe.

2 pointsAmazing what some Regal Red paint does to a part. Had to try it on the carb after work, think it will work out fine.
-
2 pointsGood paint makes clean up easier. Also reduces rust potential down the road...

2 pointsEnded up getting some new Carlisle Tru-Power 23x10.5-12 4 ply for the 91 520 I'm working on. Check out the Deestone 23x10.5-12 6ply... smh... what a joke.

2 pointsThe drive in style is also common. See them on farm equipment quite often. My McLean uses drive in style on the front spindles. I prefer threaded though.
-
2 pointsI hadn't either until I ran across them. Just yanked good with some vice grips and out they came. I do like the idea of tapping the hole. Manufacturers put them in to save time on the assembly line. http://www.mbfittings.com/drive.htm

2 pointsDelco's are the best batteries I've ever had experience with. It's the only thing I ever buy. My dad got 10 years out of one once in a Chevy S10. He's going on 7 years currently in a Buick Lesabre. He is retired and doesn't drive daily. With my daily drivers I've gotten up to 6-8 years out of some of them. Only saw one ever leak, got it replaced under warranty. They are very well sealed batteries.

2 points1/4 - 28 and 1/8npt are the most common sizes. seemed to like the 1/4 - 28 ones.

2 pointsAfter thinking it over I decided not to share this with my wife. She may think I'm insinuating something. I like things just the way they are. Nothing to gain by rocking the boat!

2 pointsThe best battery I ever had was in the S10 I bought new in '95 the factory ACDELCO lasted 7 years and 150k miles replaced it with another ACDELCO from Kmart nonetheless and 3 years and another 100k miles when I finally traded it off it was still cranking it over, I also used to be into the mega boom bass rocking power hungry sound systems so for them to last that long was tops in IMO, Jeff.

2 pointsMy opinion here.... You have several problems. First you mentioned that you had to install a fuel shut off valve that you turned off when done mowing. I suspect the needle and seat in the carb are bad and need replaced. I suspect that you have used alcohol impregnated gasoline which is harder than heck on carbs. Secondly..... I suspect the battery is not delivering its full cranking power. Take it to your battery store and simply have them test it. Your not out anything except 15 minutes to take it out of the tractor. I believe that I you change the needle and seat and check the float level your carb problem will be solved. I also believe your battery needs replaced and you need to check your battery connections and make sure they are clean and tight. This will at least make it crank and have the correct amount of gas so you have a fighting chance of it starting and running. From here you can see if there is an ignition problem or not. Someone mentioned the compression release..... I would check this after tackling the fuel problem and checking the mowers battery.
