13 pointsSo I couldn't help but notice how the cable to rotate the chute drags like a boat anchor on the sea floor across this pin. I know the cable is supposed to be coated but I still can't imagine it being much better. the cable actually had a groove filed in the pin. Measuring the height for the mod. Off to the parts bin, found a pulley off an old garage door opener. Cut the pin and weld the head of the bolt on the end. Voila a pulley to run the cable over. It's hard to tell but the pulley is on a pretty hard angle to match the path of the cable. I cut the end of the pin on a slant then tacked one side and bent it into position. The rotate moves 4,000% easier now I can't believe it. It almost justifies this stupid rotate design. My rig. 180lbs on the wheels and about 130 in the rear box. Still could use more....also more ponies. Any idea how much weight is ok on the rear hitch? It scares me the tranny takes all the weight hanging off the back.

12 pointsA little history. About 23 years ago, my wife and I bought our first house. It has a large yard with lots of trees. Therefore, I set out to do what any red blooded American would do. Buy myself a lawn mower. Not just any lawn mower. The best lawn mower I could find within a reasonable cost. I'm not a typical "go to Sears and pick out a riding lawn mower" kind of guy. I shop around, check out all my options, and even look at the current offerings at the State Fair. You see, it was at that Fair that I found exactly what I was looking for; a Toro Wheel Horse 314-8. What a machine! But I wasn't worthy of it. I abused the tractor over the years, I left it outside in the rain and sun, I did things to that tractor that would make grown man cringe. Then.....about 3 years ago I sold it. My sincere apologies to anyone out there that might be in possession of my old machine I'm older and wiser now. I've come to grips with the fact that I have mechanical abuse issues. The first step to recovery is admission, surrender and acceptance. That's why I'm here today. We have a single car garage. My wife's Audi is typically parked in it. But not since I found this machine....!

10 pointsJust reached Senior Advanced Member....I always thought being called a senior was a polite way of saying "you`re old". So does being Senior Advanced mean being "Really Old"...

10 pointsThe Vredstein 5 rib set up is nice. I use them on my GT14's. these are the 18x8.5-8

9 pointsThat's awesome guys I figured there would be others like me that bought them new off the showroom floor or lot and still have it, mine is my winter rig now with the 2stage and cab even though this winter wasn't for the blower and has 755 hrs all original with regular maintenance and few small parts and AG tires over the last 19 years also fun fact 1996 was the anniversary year but serial number has it as 1997 and I bought in March 1998 as my dealer was just getting in the new Xi's, Jeff.
-
9 pointsYou are forgiven. It does take a wise old man to admit his wrongdoings and suffer the cold nights sleeping in the back seat of his wife's Audi so his new horse is warm and dry.

7 pointsWell before we moved from New York to Tennessee we sold our sectional and got a futon for a few weeks before the move so we had the extra money and save space.. so we just got our new sectional and now my garage gets the futon to relax with my tractors.. Hey works for me! Lol and both my kids love to sit out in the garage with me after work to relax!

7 pointsI have an RJ58 that my Greatgrandparents bought new. My Grandparents bought it from them and used it when my mom was a little girl. As a kid I remember seeing it pushed over to the corner of the barn with 4 flat tires and a bunch of junk stacked on top of it. I bought it from my grandma 2 summers ago and am in the process of restoring it. I have an RJ58 that my Greatgrandparents bought new. 7 pointsA long time ago, a small circus came to town. And it had an Elephant that got loose. It wandered around and ended up in a garden of Miss Armstrong. She had never seen an elephant before. She looked out her window and saw it in her garden so she called the Police. She said" There's a big gray animal in my garden" "Can you describe it" Said the Sgt. "Well it's big and gray" said Miss Armstrong. "OK big and gray, what's it doing" said the Sgt. "It's picking my cabbages with it's tail" she said. "What's it doing with them" he said . She said " If I tell you what he's doing with them, you aint gonna believe it! "

7 points@roadapples It means you are old enough to speak our mind on any subject and you don't care what the younger generation says.

7 pointsNone of my tractors, even the "parts" machines, stay outside, but are under a roof of some sort. I can't stand to see any L&G machine outside, uncovered, no matter the color or the condition.

7 pointsWe have all fallen short of perfection at one time or another. Glad to hear you have changed your ways and made atonement for past sins. "I do not condemn you, go and sin no more!" John 8: 9-11

5 pointsA pregnant dinosaur is not 9 months gestation...it is the rest of my life. Believe me, getting old means your metabolism changes, I hate it and it is hard to do anything to change that. I will keep at it though. We are all growing old together.
-
5 pointsIt means you qualify for a "Senior Discount" at the motel for the big show! Oh, never mind, you live closer to the show than the motels are located.
-
5 pointsThat's BRUTAL Jim...but probably correct. I still remember talking with him that day. So, I got that going for me. It's a tough crowd, but I love every one of ya.

5 pointsLoaded tires, outside wheel weights, inside wheel weights, hitch weight, transmission damage, axle bearing damage.....Do a search and you will find TON of opinions. IMO, do it all.

4 pointsI bought my C-120 new in May 1977 been used hard. It's now a C-120/180 with quite a few modifications.

4 pointsThis started my love for these tractors when I was 14, '78 C-81 8 Speed, bought new on 05/31/79 by my grandfather. It is still my favorite & always will be... (currently being rebuilt).
-
4 pointsWell pfrederi sure has me beat. I bought a 1991 520H new with mower, blower and cart. Still use all of them and have over 1400 hours on the tractor. Currently have a cab and two stage snowblower on it. The poor thing worked its butt off in the recent white, wet cement that fell.

4 pointsLOl ...actually took a pay cut to become a pro Ed, was an expert but when they found couldn't dazzle 'em with brilliance I'd baffle 'em with BS Hey I just figured out the senior advanced ... 'Apples has advanced form CRS to old timers disease!

4 pointsI measured the tire height of the 27-9.50x15's that are on skittles and they measured just less than 26". The ones I am going to use measure out just at 27". While I was measuring the stock ones, I noticed one valve stem hole had some rot around it and the rims are really not that great. These are original tires so they have been on there a while.I am not planning on running tubes. So the plan now is to cut the centers out of the factory wheels and weld them into the ones I made. A lot of work but I have more time than money and the remodel is at a standstill. Nice thing about this is I can turn the 15" wheels around and this should give me plenty of room for backspacing/clearance. Think I might go with the 5 rib front.

4 pointsSo I got this buddy right that's awfully hard on the equipment, sometimes to the point of reckless Everything he has sets outside even tho he has plenty of space in a huge barn.... that is filled with crap that should go to scrap. He beats the snot out of everything he has then wonders why it's broke. Bought a almost new Dixon Z turn for 4K & has three summers on it and has yet to change oil and never any maintenance. This happened to it one day. He couldn't figure out why. You guys know the type, we all have a buddy like that right?? All I know is I work pretty hard for my money and very few of my tractors were given to me so I take care of things and respect them. Takes a big man to admit his faults Hampton ...yer forgiven!

4 pointsLoading the rear tires really helps. Farmers have been doing it for many years on large tractors for traction. I have loaded my rears on my big to me diesel tractor, and two of my 520's have loaded rears. I find the added traction even in the summer mowing grass in ditches and hills to be much better with actually less sod damage since the tires no longer spin. I use plumbing antifreeze, beet juice would be even better as it is heavier but I could not find a local source. Cleat

4 pointsI was out in the garage tonight & remembered that I had another set of 10.50's on 7" rims. Thought I'd share.
-
4 pointsWoot Woot! YOu need an oriental rug for the garage. Those tires need to be insulated from the floor.
