Well when the job has to get done you fall back on your old reliable horse to accomplish it. I know you guys were expecting something else lol. I don't think this tractor has ever spent a day inside in all of its life and runs excellent every time. Has 2100 hrs on it and used no oil, doesn't smoke at all. It starts every time no mater what the weather.

I have to say I never hoped to find a 520h and now another followed me home. 550 hours on the clock.Owner was asking $350.

So I posted in "what's in your mirror" this nice original 1989 520 HC. It came with a really clean 60" deck. I broke the nipple off the fuel pump when as I was changing the fuel line so $14 bucks later the new one arrived in the mail today. Put it on and fired it up. It was too cold today to degrease and pressure wash it but I was able to start buffing the hood with a high cutting compound and it is going to clean up real nice. Good news is the tranny is strong but bad news is the engine runs real strong but puffs a bit. Good news is I have another low hour Onan on the shelf that I can swap out. Hopefully tomorrow it warms up enough that I can pressure wash it. We shall see.

I was getting ready to call in the cheerleaders.

So I decided to fire up the Kerosun and heat up the garage. It actually worked well and I was able to get some tractor work done. One of my goals is a 3 point. I decided to swap the 3 point off my recent acquisition with a reproduction set up. The difference is that the one I pulled which will go on the GT22-8 is an independent set up. A couple pics. This took a full day along with some other parts I have been sandblasting and priming.

After two engine failures of my Kohler K-241, I decided to install a new engine which would come with a warranty. I picked a Honda twin that came in a kit from Repower Specialists. To make room, the gas tank had to be moved to a spot behind the seat, and the distance from the engine then required an electronic fuel pump. The battery also had to be moved, so I cut away most of the old fuel tank holder and put the battery in that spot on some added brackets. The rectifier got attached to the side of the battery box, and finally the front of the hood had to be jacked up about 3". Since I have no metal working skills or tools, the needed brackets are crudely built, but functional. The final touch was the new side decals provided by our own Vinylguy. The new B-220 has LOTS of power! Mike Johnson

Hard to say, my first Horse, 40+ years ago. Current go-to's, 414-8, 416-8 and our 520-8. Like the 520's swept axle.

I would have to say the red ones are the best.

Saw the pipe off 1/4" from the block, then saw thru the from the inside with a SAWSALL or hacksaw blade. You can then collapse it with a punch or chisel and turn it out. Easy Peasy.

I doubt you will find a battery powered pump that will generate the pressure and volume you want to feed two sprinkler towers. I use a 1000liter handitank in the back of my M37. I fill it down at the pond using a 3.5hp 2 inch pump. (incidentally it will not run for "hours" on a tank of gas). Haul it up to the house then hook up the wayne electric pump and it pushes water through a 1 inch hose at sufficient pressure volume t0 run two sprinklers. My guess would be 1257, 1267, and 1277, I don't own any that old. I would say the C-160 is the best simple electrical, built tough, lots of power, and the easy to get to the lift shaft. The 300, 400 and 500 series are a pain to attach to the lift. And the C-120 is the same tractor with 4 less HP.

6-9622 is the blade only. At the time a second completing package was required to attach it to the various models. Garry

Any shavings will be exhausted as soon as you crank the engine. If it makes you feel better, stuff a paper towel in the pipe before you start to saw, then pull it out with a needle nose pliers.

I think it will be fine! I wouldn't mow foot tall grass with it but normal mowing shouldn't be a problem.

This may be a dumb question to ask, and I'm sure there will be a lot different answers to it but here it goes. ( its winter I sit here looking out the window thinking) 1 = What is the most/best collectable wheel horse. 2 = The better all around wheel horse 3 = Hardest working/ heavy duty wheel horse 4 = Most unique wheel horse I am sure there will different opines on this, there is no wrong answers, I only have one type of wheel horse tractor and I really don't know much about any others.

They are all good But i like my 87 -310-8 its not the biggest but its very dependable 7 years hauling fire wood pulling brush pushing snow blowing snow and mowing its never once let me down

I was able to get the pressure washer out today and clean all the years of crude off and butt if. Looking prettygood for a worker.

Hey Horse guys .... Sorry I haven't been around lately. Having gut issues, still not resolved but they are working on it. Lost over 40LBS in the last 3 months, would be great if it was MY idea!! Anyway, been doing a lot of thinking while I am layin here. Decided to shelf the B-145 project for now. The BEAST is really just stock, so she isn't REALLY a beast. So ..... I have decided that the next project should be actually making it a REAL beast!!! Probably going to have to do some serious re-design of the front end, and engineer new cooling and charging systems, but hey ... it's only ... well ...yea, it's only!!! This is a 1934 Ford, factory stock is 85 HP, so that should help the Beast be more Beastly!!! Will keep you posted, but be patient, can't start til I feel a little better!!!

My son is 19 and doesn't swear or any of my kids for that matter . (didn't get it from me) and when he's mad he'll yell out a sentence. Right at the moment a cuss word is supposed to fly out he'll pause at that moment and keep going . I've tried to do it and can't no matter how hard I try . To many years on a farm dealing with dumb animals,machine shop and construction I guess . I agree with @Digger 66 I really enjoy this clean family friendly forum !

#1 - senior , then 420LSE #2 - 520H , C160 #3 - aren't they all seeing how many are still worked everyday ! #4 - BIG BLOCK short frame square hoods (my favorite)

You can try better stuff then PB. You can cut most of it off then cut groves in the pipe almost to the threads. After that use a punch to deform the pipe. Hit it at a 45 towed the center of the pipe. That will peel it out. You can also use heat, but be careful.

I had a '76 C-120 auto with a 48" deck and it was fine. Just keep the blades SHARP and the spindles GREASED.

I think the coolest way to get it done would be to use one of your horses to power a belt drive water pump like this one http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_150884_150884 you would have to make a mount for the front tach a matic but I don't think it would be too involved

I think one can get his or her point across without using profanity or it's cousins . Don't get me wrong , I'm a truck-driver & have a mouth like a sailor . But a public forum is no place for it . It's fun to read though

I don't know how I missed this thread from last year, but if y'all will allow me, I would like to add another RJ-35 to the mix. Here's my '55 RJ-35 that I bought from Fireman about three years ago. She still shows up at some of the tractor shows in south central PA.

Really nice score on the 520 and a beautiful C-160. On the blinds...I had the same type experience on some complicated custom counter tops. They wanted me to bring in the measurements and I said "no, you come out and measure". Sure enough, they had to make all the counter tops TWICE!!! But not on my dime... Jim

Hi Guys, It's me again looking for professional advice! Today we split open the transmission on our '79 C-81 and found that the gasket had rotted under the Fender Support Bracket and part of the gearbox interior is rusty. LUCKILY it is only a small area on both half's. (The box had plenty of oil.) Can someone recommend the best way to get rid of the rust? I was not planning to disassemble the entire thing but maybe I'll have to? what do you think? Check out the pictures below. With thanks for your advice. Long live Wheel Horse!

I'm sure the transmission experts will be along soon to help you out... But, what about those two older gentlemen in the second picture? They seen astute and well versed in the minutia of transmissions... VERY cool to be involving those guys - they will be the better for it down the road...

Considering the 953 with a 9.6 hp Kohler used a 48 inch deck....you should have more than enough power.

Today we got up real early and went over to a guys house around 80 miles away (according to google maps). We did some trading. i had a lawn ranger plow for sale and it took it on partial trade (was missing lift link) but i got trans pulley for dads 754 and slot hitch and cable for my 701. And will be doing more business with him soon. he has a couple 62 frames i am interested in one to replace the frame on my 701. just a precaution since the trans plate on the 701 was busted so badly.

Try melting candle wax on the threads, I hear that works pretty good. Run the engine & get it hot, then drip wax on the threads, it will wick up in the threads after a while....

VERY nice 520-HC.You better slow down on the buffing............you'll have to wear sunglasses when you use it.Have fun with your new toy.I wouldn't mind having a 520-HC.I have four or 5 520-H's.Love those Onan's.I know most folks here don't,but I do.

Countertop wrong size? SAME here! I thought the contractor was gonna cry when I showed him the new granite was 12" too short off HIS measuring sheet. Then they chipped the corner on the new one when they installed it!!! Third times the charm - on their dime...

Assuming you can get 150 out of the tiller, that makes it a 750 tractor. Here in the Upstate NY, it's rare to see a C160 go that low. As the other experts have said, you need to test the Hydro. If it's good, I'd make the leap. But I'm partial to the K341's.

Well, when I picked up that D250 for @fast88pu last Saturday the fella had this nice if not perfect B100 sitting there. His asking price was higher than my budget for a non GT14 But I decided to toss him a much lower number as I had thought I might use it for parts for the GT22-8. He replied with a higher number again and I did not reply. After 3-4 hours he countered himself and viola I now have a B100. It's nicer than I thought and he had replaced some stuff to tune it up. So I may turn it into a mower which will allow me to do additional modifications to my GT14 herd. So I really did not expect him to sell at the amount I was willing to go...Nice surprise.

Glad to hear you didn't get hurt Tony. I took the week off with the kids between Christmas and New Years. Three days after Christmas, I took my truck to get the coolant flushed out. It looked ok, but it's been about 10+ years, so I figure it's due. The local shop is literally four streets away in the same residential neighborhood. Wife was still in bed, so I threw the bicycle in the back of the truck, and headed out. 1/2 way home, dumped the bike on a patch of ice. Ripped up my hands, and part of my leg. It's been about 25 years since I wiped out on a bike. Not fun. Anyway...I get home, and the wife is wide awake making coffee. (AARRRGGHH) I pick the truck up later that day..they said, "Coolant looked really good...not sure why you brought it in, but we did it anyway" (AARRRGGHH) . It happends...I guess it was just my turn.
