Well I can't believe it's been another year since my accident , time sure flies by . It's crazy to think 6 years ago I was up walking until that 25 mph crash changed my life forever . I guess now I don't think about it much anymore as you just except what life hands you . I try to keep a positive attitude about life . Thank the lord for my wife who takes care of me , along with family and friends . With that being said I want to thank everyone here . This forum has gave me an outlet and you guys don't judge people on their opinions . I'm sure glad to have gotten addicted to this whole Horse thing . How can these little red tractors bring so many people together and good people is beyond me . I've been to many tractor shows in my lifetime and I can tell you the WHCC show in PA is on the top of my list (even the wife liked it ) . Springs, around the corner so the Mentone swap will be here soon then the Big SHOW before we know it . Now to get my projects finished in time . I can't wait to put more people with faces and see some of my OLD friends . Thanks for putting up with my little rants , off the wall comments and stories this past year . RULES ! Had 2" of snow with ice underneath, so it was a good excuse to try out my new plow setup on my 1076 hydro lift. So when I finished, I rolled out the rest of my 'work crew': C-120 with heavy tow hitch, 1076 with plow blade, 417-8 with snow thrower & electric lift, and a C-85 to pull garden equipment. Have to run them once in awhile to keep them working. Jim

Hello all, I have plenty of friends here on the 'square and I think most if not all CT members know me or of me. I decided to post this because if you dont laugh you'll cry. This is one of those stupid things you do and MOST times get away with... not this time, but nobody got hurt. The scene... its snowing like heck, lots of slick stuff and ice... add in a 30 hp hydrostatic mid size JD tractor with FEL. My sick friend/pseudo boss calls the shop and asks me to move a few boats around so the yard can be plowed. No prob, I 'git er done.... Then I step on the hydro pedal and the tractors rear end kicks out, hmmmmmm flash back to manchester CT Caldors parking lot circa 1989 with Vin and Matt and the '68 Nova. DOUGHNUTS!!!! So here I am doing doughnuts on tractor and having a ball... then I loose it and tractor goes into bad skid. I search frantically over next 2 or 3 seconds for brake pedal... no dice, I look up, think to myself awwwwwww poop and crash. FEL opens driver door on my Silverado like a can opener. Yep... 45 yrs old and pulled a real stupid move. Nobody hurt... anybody else got similar stories? Tony

hey guys been a while since i been around. so last night a friend txted me i live in indiana my friend lives in california. he says he knew someone north of me with a wheel horse and the guy was wanting to give it away. so i said sure txt me address and time to pick it up. so a few txt messages later i had a time and place set up for tonight. didnt know anything about the machine or condition i figured a old beater that was rusted from sitting a loong time. well i got to the guys house rang door bell he opens garage door and this 1961 701 wheel horse with hood fenders seat and spring was there its just a little dismantled due to frame being cracked (which ill fix). now to top it off its got the hydrolic lift on it and came with a snow plow. i need manual on hydrolice lift and pics of it installed would be nice too because it looks odd on the location. but heres only picture i have of it. i am planning on rewiring it and getting it running and fixing frame and hood and using it and take it to shows.

It's all fun and games until it's not anymore! Bummer.....

It will be easier to clean those drain-holes along the bottom of the door now Good to hear only the truck got screwed up !

This is my new hitch that I had Tom the hitch guy custom fab up for me. It's strong adjustable and looks good. Can't wait to get it and install it. Thank you again Tom.

Nice looking crew! When i saw this, i showed the wife and said, now see this fella has it right...one tractor for each job. She rolled her eyes. Then i went to her shoes,and said seems like all these different pair of shoes have only one job each to do. Then she looked at me and smiled, with no comment.....I win! I think I'll look for another wheelhorse!👍😝

Nope.... no cameras. Just an idiot acting like a dumb kid and now paying the price. Truck is an '05 with 203,000 which doesnt make it Ok, but it stings ALOT less than a 2017 with 300 miles would feel!

Had my first opportunity to see how well the added rear weight works, 6" of wet heavy snow and my driveway is quite steep. Now I can plow going uphill and down, without it I was only able to plow going down and struggled to go up with the plow raised (removing some traction from the rear wheels).

That would be what you could call "a horse of another color". The owner obviously knows the best tractor but perhaps just liked a different decal? At least he picked a good brand and decent looking decal. Some of the other brand decals would have been an insult. I won't mention any names. I would give him a pass on that one, but just this one time only as long as he never does anything like that again to a horse. At least he did not use that other brand decal that would have tried to turn that horse into a donkey.

I think the color is nice on the wheel horse and I like it . I had a craftsman rider for 14 years and I put JEEP stickers on it. Never did changed that tractor into a jeep. It still ran like a craftsman. So no mater the color it's still going to be a horse.

Well we finally got enough snow today to plow 2.5"-3" and temperature is hovering at 20° or less, had my maintainer on both tractors (behind the house) but "Good Friday" still didn't crank over without a boost, finally got it going did our drive as well as wife's parents' and then the BIL's steep dirt/gravel 3-400' drive as well on the other side of the hill,Jeff.

It take all kind of tractor collectors to make it interesting.

I just came in from playing outside, we got about 5 inches or better so far. my son Mike was wanting to try the C-175 and I wanted to tryout my 522xi with the 2 stage, so, out we went. that C-175 has some balls, let me tell you, I was quite impressed and the 522xi, well we know about that. Its super. without further adieu,,enjoy a few pics. will have to go out later, supposed to snow till 8pm. Glenn

Sorry if you can't see the video.Had to go back out so we will try this.I'm doing the culdasac in front of my neighbor's house.I have a 600 foot gravel drive and from where I'm moving snow the state plowed road is over a half mile away.

I have a 417-A with a 2 stage, you're going to love yours! They are calling for 8-12" here so I'll probably start with the C-165 auto with 48" blade then switch to 417 when it gets deep. Maybe do some stacking with the C-141 8-speed with FEL, then clean up with the other C-141 with C-48" Sweepster broom! I have an F-350 with 8' Fisher plow but don't use it for my driveway cause it's no fun!!! That's just for my snowplowing business. My neighbors must think I'm nuts when I come home,park my truck on the road walk in then bust out the horses!!

Having always plowed my driveway with my B-100 8-Speed, I was of the opinion that there was nothing better than my tough old 8-speed. Well, this morning I awoke to about two inches of the white stuff. Now mind you, I could plow that with a 2 x 4 on the front of my grandson's tricycle, but I decided this winter that the 416-H was going to be my weapon of choice. Having removed the front end loader to do some modifications over the winter, I installed the 48" front blade, chains, and rear wheel weights. The temperature the morning was 24F. The engine fired up, and without even letting the hydro warm up, it was ready to go. All I can say is wow, what a difference. Infinite control of speed while maneuvering around obstacles, plenty of power, and hydro lift on the blade. Having had major spine surgery a year ago, I worried about pulling the lift handle on the B-100, but fingertip control on the lift, no brake or clutch, and I was like a kid with a new toy. Now as I said, this was not a real test since it was only 2 inches of wet snow, but if this what I have to look forward to when the real stuff comes, I am pleased. Mark me down as a new hydro believer.

Any way ya like em, we can make em. Love me a good hot dog or three now and then.

I believe the rear end in the automatics are the same as the rear end in the 8-speeds. The 1974's are neither limited slip nor positrack. They are just standard differentials.
