7 pointsSo I have a Kioti CK20 I leave in WV for my dad to plow the 1/4 mile long dirt/stone driveway ,he has been using a rear 3pt mounted blade but in January the 30" didn't push/pull well or scoop easily either so figured a front mounted plow may work better for him since he doesn't turn around very good to see what's going on behind him, I picked up a Power King Economy 54" front plow blade and modified it to fit/work on the Kioti without removing the loader then using a Harbor Freight ATV winch to raise and lower it while still maintaining the hydraulics for the loader and rear 3pt, Jeff.

6 pointsDismantled the carb on my Commando-8 for a soaking in a gallon of carb cleaner last week but forgot to put aside the needle...so into the carb cleaner bucket it went. Looked ok when it came out so I reassembled it all and sure enough the rubber tip deteriorated and blocked up the seat. So off with the carb again, installed a new needle and seat (really pays off to have this stuff in stock) and she is running great! Nice way to spend Thanksgiving morning....( I was told to "Get outa my kitchen!")...so I obeyed . Took it for my first drive but the drive belt is so shot it won't power itself up even the lightest incline. Figuring out the belt size and finding a replacement is my next project. Mike.......

4 pointsFinally Project Jr. is drivable this it before we test drove this beast She is ready to go after he over 20 year nap. tommarow the decals,different muffler,tuning and get the steeing wheel to fit on. How do i get the wheel to fit on the steering shaft it stuck on there but i cant get it off.

4 pointsThe plastic fender on the C161 is an earlier version and much thicker than the later versions. It is the only model that came with a fiberglass hood along with the smooth running twin Briggs. They are rare. One thing I like about the Wheel Horse styling is the way they have their engines hanging out. Here is some C161 eye candy.

4 pointsOthers on here have reported good results with backing out the lug bolts a couple of turns each and then driving in a figure eight pattern to apply side load in both directions as well as some vibration.

2 pointsusing the 312-8 to spread some driveway gravel with the blade and something interesting happened. a tire chain snapped a crosslink came around twisted up some sheetmetal and the rear fender then ripped a slice through of the fuel tank. it all happened in about 1/10 of a second so no reaction time. check your chains once in a while i guess ??

2 pointsWe just had a snow storm that dumped 2' on us. I'm pleasantly surprised just how much that tractor was able to push with weighted tires and chains. That 8hp in a '68 Commando 8 was quite impressive. So it really isn't how big and powerful it is, but what you can do with what you have.

A good welder could build that up and have it machined square if needed too . Most front axle/spindle sets are not set up long enough to use the thicker .126" washer but the top surface of the axle casting can be ground off to get clearance for the E-clip or side mount retaining ring , E-style / McMaster - https://www.mcmaster.com/#98407a156/=156i0rv Sarge

2 pointsThe bushings are 1/16" wall thickness , anything over that and you really risk weakening the axle casting too much . I try to keep it at a minimum to prevent any possibility of breakage . Basically , what I'm doing is the same procedure for rebuilding HD truck front axles that use heavy brass alloy bushings and hardened king pins with a press slip fit tolerance .By using the full length bushing it spreads the load along the entire shaft length instead of so much side thrust on the bottom/top 1" or so depending upon which axle casting design , which is what wears them out so badly . I try to keep the fit tolerance down to around .005" for grease clearance - at .020" the bushings will have to be replaced which is pretty easy as they are a light press fit into the axle casting and can be sourced easily from places like McMaster or any decent bearing supplier . I grooved both spindles slightly for the D to allow a channel for grease to be forced down to the bottom roller thrust bearings - we'll see if it helps over time . Originally , as a yearly task those should be cleaned and re-packed with grease or replaced if worn . McMaster carries INA brand US made roller thrust bearings in stock for both the 3/4" and 1" size spindles with the same dimensions as the OEM WH parts . It is worth noting that the yearly re-pack and inspect procedure for the bottom roller thrust bearings is the same with this setup . I did note that the new OEM spindles arm plate for the bottom bearings is not dead square to the shaft - which allows the bearing to ride on just 2/3 of the contact patch - glad I ordered a pair of the heavier 1/8" thick bottom bearing spacers . Never use standard thrust washers for these roller thrust type bearings - the washers that go along with them are bearing grade steel and have the proper surface finish that is designed to work with the rollers to prevent premature wear . For anyone doing a rebuild , it's worth your time to inspect the bearing/washer stack's fitment against the bottom plate - if there is any gap on one side a thicker bottom washer must be used . I'll try to get a detailed pic of this gap and suspect it is quite a common problem given these parts were welded on an evidently simple assembly line . I suppose with a mill one could fly cut that plate square , although it would take a fair amount of setup time and work to do so . Here's the counter bore tool I made - need to make some tweaks to it for a better surface finish or set up another similar tool with a hard surfacing stone . Before installing those scallop/chatter marks were removed with a facing stone , which was a pain . Wish I could find a decent used mill and had the room for it - takes a lot of time to do it by hand . Part of the problem with doing the counter bore is running into hard deposits of nickle and carbon - almost as bad as Chinese castings with ball bearings hidden inside which will ruin cutting tools in a hurry . I'll try to fit the new trailer hubs/bearings/seals sometime today between gorging on Holiday food and spending time with family . Will try to detail parts used and any issues that arise for those that want to tackle this job . It will be nice to get away from wearing out NOS parts that are rare and no longer available , not to mention getting away from the weak OEM design of those junk front wheel bearings . I plan to upgrade all the Horses to this type of front end since it sees so much wear and loading from working these machines even with light duty - I use mine to and beyond their potential and design ...lol . 2 pointsI'd have to agree after this little adventure in Las Vegas. There are three things that I truly dislike and have learned to dislike them more as I've grown older. 1) Large cities. 2) Large crowds. 3) Drunk people rather individually or in groups. Needless to say but Vegas covered each of those bases in spades. Richard.

2 pointsIf it does not want to run smooth above idle it can also be the condenser. I battled with the carb on one of my engines this spring and found out that it was the condenser instead. My engine would run good at low RPMs but would not run well above 1/2 throttle. Just one more thing to consider.

1 pointOk, I got my New Holland 2 stage and cab home today. Its going on the 522xi. I would like to have an extra belt around and maybe a extra chain. This came off an 80 hour machine I dont anticipate problems, but thats when you get bit. These were made by toro wheel horse for new holland. Identical but for the paint color. There is a picture with model / serial number. Who knows where to get these items? we all luv pictures, so here are a few, I have plenty of dirt to clean off them, and some touch up to do. These 2 stage xi units are BIG....... oh, and a fwiw, my mint used twice and not by me xi single snowthrower will be in the classified shortly, WITH my xi blade. keep your eyes peeled. I dont need 4 snowblowers and 4 blades. Enjoy and thanks for any help. Glenn oh, and for a laugh, the jumbo dolly I made,,,and NEVER used it for the 2 stage ,,
