9 pointsFinally got around to adding a ramp to the shed. I put the shed kinda close to the driveway. So, I made a fixed ramp using old and new boards (Recycle.Reduce,Reuse!) and 2 removable ramps.

6 points11-11-1978 The General Lee jumps into history On this day in 1978, a stuntman on the Georgia set of “The Dukes of Hazzard” launches the show’s iconic automobile, a 1969 Dodge Charger named the General Lee, off a makeshift dirt ramp and over a police car. That jump, 16 feet high and 82 feet long (its landing totaled the car), made TV history. Although more than 300 different General Lees appeared in the series, which ran on CBS from 1979 until 1985, this first one was the only one to play a part in every episode: That jump over the squad car ran every week at the end of the show’s opening credits. The General Lee was a neon-orange Charger with “01” painted on the doors, a Confederate flag on the roof, and a horn that played the first 12 notes of the song “Dixie.” It belonged to the Dukes of Hazzard themselves, the cousins Bo (played by actor John Schneider) and Luke Duke (actor Tom Wopat), who used it to get out of dangerous scrapes and away from the corrupt county commissioner Boss Hogg. Scenes featuring the General Lee are some of the show’s most memorable: Luke Duke sliding sideways across the car’s hood; the boys hopping feet-first through the windows (the Charger’s doors were welded shut, so the windows were the only way to get in and out); the General flying over ditches, half-open drawbridges and police cruisers. Because practically every one of the General Lee’s stunts ended up wrecking the car, the show’s prop masters bought every 1969 Dodge Charger they could find (and there were plenty: the Chrysler Corporation sold about 85,000 in all). Then they outfitted each one for action, adding a roll cage to the inside, a protective push bar to the nose and heavy-duty shock absorbers and springs to the suspension. The prop masters also tampered with the brakes to make it easier to do the 180-degree “Bootleggers’ Turn” that so often helped the Duke boys evade Boss Hogg. Cars used for jumps also got trunks full of concrete or lead ballast to keep them from flipping over in midair. While “The Dukes of Hazzard” was on the air, the General Lee got about 35,000 fan letters each month. Fans bought millions of remote-controlled and toy versions of the car, and some even modified their real cars to look like the Dukes’ Charger. Indianapolis DJ Travis Bell restored the original General Lee in 2006.

5 pointsAlthough not a veteran myself, my 92 year old father is, and I am very proud of his WW II service in Europe as a Combat Medic with the 120th Inf. He recieved, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars. 24 June 1943 to 21 August 1945. Thank You Dad , and all other Veterans.

3 pointsThe 5010 was the 3-piece case trans last used in the 401 only in 1961 The 5007 was the first 2-piece case trans used in the 551 and 701 in 1961 Have never compared the parts but in 1962 at serial number 62-02856 there was a bend added to the shifter to clear the HY-2 hydraulic pump. That may be the only difference in the 5007 and 5025. The 5025 was replaced by the 5046 in 1964 because they no longer considered the shifter a part of the transmission. That may be the only difference in the 5025 and 5046. Garry

2 pointsJust became a SUPPORTER..! Well I feel Finally dragged it home and now trying to decide what to do with it. Definitely leaning towards parting it out or sell it all together, or keep it if the Wife say I can...lol. Idk yet. Like I said before got it all for $75. Working on the plow right now, but I did try to get the Clevis Hitch off, with no luck so far. After all that going to clean up the deck and make sure everything is lubed up " that's what she said." 2 pointsWell here in the Harrisonburg/Staunton I-81 corridor of VA I should say, seems like garden tractors of any brand in really decent shape goes for a little more than what most on here snag them for but WHEEL HORSE doesn't often show up around here and is usually gone in a few days just my experiences here,... And with ALL that's in the first picture if sold individually would probably net more than the $2-2500 I said...just my thoughts/experiences, one more thing now we all know a craftsman snow cab will work on our so that could out some others looking for a cheap alternative to the WH/ orginal cab,Jeff.

2 pointsWVHilllbilly is close on what that would sell for here in VA.There is a lot of great looking attachments.The tiller tines look decent and that adds value for sure.As I see it my biggest problem with scoring a good deal on these things is the fact that it is a relative that will require many dollars to keep him in a nursing home.I would not like to be in the position to feel that I didn't do the right thing by my aunt or uncle.Doing what's right for family is a definite consideration.Just make sure that someone doesn't come in and and steal this for a couple hundred bucks.JMHO,Luck,JAinVA

2 pointsI can't give a value, but, I do like the way most of the metal looks straight and nice. I see the ding or dong on the right rear fender. Always liked these Big D machines. I missed a refreshed, very well done one a few months back for 1400. I should have leaped, but I slept. Will follow the thread, see what the pros say. Best of luck. Glenn

1 pointWell, I didn't even manage to get the project started before first snowfall, but it will come around. Took a turn with the C-160 and dozer blade to get rid of the first snow. Great fun! My plan is to have the C-120 8-speed with dozer blade, and the C-160 automatic with snow blower attached in the future...

1 pointMorning/afternoon/evening (delete according to location) all, it's about time I did another MadTrax update.. But first.... If your wondering why this strange Uk Wheel Horse bloke is building a quad and not a WH, don't worry.... This is only a temporary glitch in the matrix, my next build will be going back to my WH roots Working out how to mount the bracket that the gauge pods bolt onto has been fun! In the end I made a couple of brackets that use the same bolts as the headlamp. Other than cleaning up a few welds and adding a couple of captive nuts to stop the pod tops from opening, and adding a couple of warning lights the gauges are done. A view from the seat.. You may of noticed in the above photo that the front brakes have gained a bigger master cylinder.. An upgrade that's needed me thinks.. And of course... Monday MadTrax went back up on the bench to do all those little jobs that I couldn't do on the ground. Thank you Rob and Nigel for your help. The exhaust system gained a guard to stop any legs from getting burnt.. The system will be heat wrapped also. Recycling time.. This was part of a Wheel Horse cutting deck.. Lot's of chopping and welding later a battery box bracket was born. A couple of captive nuts were welded to the bracket so the battery box can be bolted on. To hold the battery in the box I welded a couple of bike straps together. Finally fitted... Yes the battery does come in and out easy, and no the swing arm does not hit the battery on full compression despite how it looks in the photo The foot peg mounts needed some strengthening.. They won't move now but I will add a bit more strength underneath. Due to the engine being offset to the left, the frame rails are not the same which meant the left side foot peg stuck out a bit more than the other side.. Chopped.. Push the ends together.. And weld it up.. I have welded the joins inside as well. With the foot pegs now sticking out the same amount both sides I needed to think about something to stop me running over my own legs with the rear wheels... So more recycling, some steel mesh and a mower handle.. The section of small louvers I will use later.. I needed to bend a couple of slight but long bends in the tube (mower handle now swapped out for a better one which also turned out to be Honda.. In keeping eh ). Running it over with the quad and even my Gt-14 didn't work, so something heavier was needed.. Please note Nigel busy eating to add to the weight I'm sure there was a length of tube there a second ago I think Nigel's truck did the bending trick As it turned out we decided not to use the long bends in the end and went for something shorter. Mostly welded on each side. The photo's do make the angles look a bit strange.. The tube heads towards the wheel before bending up.. It's hard to tell but I think they both look the same each side.. Once some steel mesh is welded in the feet shouldn't go through. And that's this thread up to date again.. Other than......

1 pointI have a few to add for my area. Waco Sales in Wayland. They are still open and they are a good gun and hunting shop. As recently as the early 2000s, they had Toro Wheel Horse, as we got parts there. I don't know when they started welling Wheel Horse, but they were a distributor for a few snowmobile and ATV lines back in the early 1970s. They probably still have NOS WH parts. Mid State Sales near St. Johns used to sell them. They still sell new Simplicity, Ingersoll and a few zero turn lines and have Wheel Horse parts. Bush Hardware in Sheridan still sold parts for Wheel Horses from inventory the last time I knew, but I think they quit selling new Toro Wheel Horse equipment in the early 2000s. They still sell other brands new. Previously mentioned was the Hastings True Value, which is now Ace. They do not sell any brand of tractors anymore, but they used to carry a large inventory. When they quit selling new Toro Wheel Horses, a place that sold used mower parts and did repairs a few blocks away got the Toro WH franchise for a few years. In 2003, just before I bought a new Simplicity, they almost sold me their last new Classic 315-8. They closed up a short time later. Giants Enterprises in Ionia probably closed about 2004. I had the owner put a price on their lighted '70s sign when they were closing and let me say it was right, but for whatever reason, I didn't get it or the Polaris sign I wanted. Ouch! Kingsland True value in the Grand Rapids suburb or Cascade is a Toro dealer that sold during the Wheel Horse era. Spartan Distributing in Sparta has been a Toro dealer distributor since 1970 or so. When Toro bought Wheel Horse, they distributed them. I don't know where local dealers got there stock from before that time. Spartan has distributed snowmobiles, golf carts, and a number of other things over the years. As a side note only I will find cool....I owned a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was bought in 1999 with 180,000 miles that was a sales vehicle titled to Spartan Distributors.

1 pointMine wore down as well. Not as far as yours though. I was able to flip mine over and bolt it back on cause I was to cheap to buy a new wear bar. I agree with TerryM . Buy a new steel bar and drill new holes in blade. Trips to the welding shop can get expensive! Oh by the way did I mention I was a cheap skate?
