A friend at work asked me if I would like a snow blade for one a my tractors ? Missing some parts, but he picked it up from a "bargain pile" at one of the home improvement stores a few years ago. Said he just wanted it out of his garage and I could have it for Free.... What's a guy supposed to say? Sure I'll take it!! He figured I could use it for some tractor project. Not Wheel Horse but what the heck, painting is easy.

FREE is my favorite word! It's brand new and unused as well. Now if you can just find somebody that knows how to weld.........

So when he someday turns to face life’s final curtain, Paul Anka will have earned not only a pile of cash, but also the right to say he did things his way, even when it meant sparking an outcry of protest against his chart-topping hit “(You’re) Having My Baby,” which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on this day in 1974. It’s difficult to say what the biggest problem with “(You’re) Having My Baby” was, since it seemed to depend very much on one’s perspective. On the one hand, there were the feminists who took issue not only with the sexist title of the song itself, but with lyrics like “Do ya feel my seed inside ya, growin’?” To these people, Anka would later extend an olive branch by performing the song with the altered lyric “You’re having our baby.” Harder to mollify were the right-to-life activists who protested the song on the basis of lyrics they regarded as pro-abortion: “Didn’t have to keep it/ Wouldn’t put you through it/ You could have swept it from your life/ But you wouldn’t do it.” Anka, for his part, intended “(You’re) Having My Baby” as a straightforward, apolitical tribute to the wife who had given him four healthy children. And political backlash aside, it struck enough of a chord in American record-buyers to give him one of the biggest hits of his extraordinary career.

I used a Harley Davidson muffler, Just used a 1" to 1 1/4" bell coupling and it slips right over the 1 1/4" pipe. Sounds soooooo goooood!

Got the carb cleaned up and it fired right up and purrs like a kitten. It had not ran in five years according to previous owner. Here are a couple of pics of it as well. Rough looking but runs solid and transmission is smooth.

The C-series, 300 400, and early 520-H use a 7" wide rim. The later 520-H ('90 and later) use an 8.5" rim, the same as the 5xi series. There was a posting of a forum member that used the 7" rim with 23X10.50-12 tires. They "balloon" out from the rim and could create clearance issues on some tractors. For instance, the Wheel Horse 312A needed a wheel spacer on one side to use chains with the 22X8.50-12 tires Be careful with other manufacturer's rims. They sometimes use a different offset than Wheel Horse and that would create clearance problems. For example, Cub Cadet doesn't have the same offset as Wheel Horse and would be a problem.

Yes, the Blackhood tractors look much better with the steel rear fender pan.

Thanks guys! That is helpful! I think it may be a 702. The model sticker has been removed. There is just paint there and no decal underneath. Here are the pictures. Also there is no tool box behind the engine but that is not to say someone didnt take it off....

With out the engine...they are the same tractor. Do you have the belt guard?? The belt guard has a square indentation that also had a sticker that had 502, 552, 702. If it was painted over, use acetone on a rag and "gently" rub to loosen the paint and remove. A picture would be nice and maybe help...the 502 was a pull start and had a tool box where the battery went for the 552 and the 702. If you have the tool box...it is a 502...and that is if you actually have a 1962 horse. Those 62xxxxx went into 1963 also... We would need some pictures to be sure. signed....chomping at the bit. Here is my 502, and you can plainly see the tool box right behind the engine. Here you can see the indentation in the belt guard...the 502 was painted over in this picture. The 702 is peaking out in the background and wondering why the 502 is getting so much attention.

An eight speed manual with 1-1/8 axles I brought home this afternoon. The previous owner sold it at junk lawnmower pricing. I know better, thanks to you guys. The model and serial put it at 2005. 1400 hours on the clock. I mowed the grass with it 3 hours after it getting to its new home. Unlike the B-80, what a difference to be able to order wear items from stock! I am now officially in the market for a tiller. Can anyone recommend shipping services from most likely PA, NY, IL to FL?

Anybody heard of or seen the Brinly SS-500 drag harrow? (as seen in Brinly attachments for brochure....) Not much information on them other than they're kind of rare to find. Have a line on one, might have to pick up. Wondered if anyone else had one.

I'm at work, so I can't measure the frame at the front of my 551. But, I was thinking about adding a front weight bracket. I currently have a front weight bracket on my 1966 John Deere 110 and have thought about modifying it to fit a Wheel Horse, and make it interchangeable to both the JD and a WH. I have a 3D model of the weight bracket, so if I had the frame dimensions of a 551, I can modify my 3D model to see if it would work. So If anyone can give me the dimensions of the frame at the front of a 551, that would be great. RF 110 Weight Bracket.pdf BTW, I would paint the bracket black so it would be more generic.

Well I was talking to one of the night shift guys before I clocked out tonight and he said he also has a blade if I would like it....free. This is getting crazy...... I keep finding blades I'll have to make you up one for your WH project.

I'm sure you'll figure out something to do with it . Push , rear , or mid blade , with your skills and access to tools , oh the possibilities !

I have stacks like these: 1" NPT threads. Sounds pretty good. I also have the same stack on a k341 and it sounds awesome. Only difference is it has a 1.5" pipe on the inlet.

Those make me want to really do something against the law like removing the Do not remove under penalty of law! tags on my couch, lazy boy and mattress.......... (Evil laughter)

cschannuth Here is a link to a pair listed on eBay right now. This style of wheel (from the 520 model w/swept forward front axle) should work for you as they are 8 1/2" bead to bead meant for the 23-10.5-12 tires with virtually all the offset to the outside. I've done the same thing here for many yrs. with different things constantly coming and going which is in part a good way to confuse the wife, my advice there is don't let up.. My wife has no idea whats new or what has been here for a long time, nor does she know how much I have of anything which was all part of the training program that began many yrs ago!. The only time I hear any beef is if things start to look "sloppy" around the yard, which is good because I'm not into that either..

All my wheels have the same bolt pattern, from the late 60's to early 90's on my 520. Have raider, charger, 416, and 520.

If you are going to put a blade or tiller on it make sure you get a plug that sits nearly flush as the original does. A standard pipe plug will hit the bar that latches into the rear hitch (don't ask how I know). If not, a regular pipe plug is the way to go.

, even a JD dealer won't work on them . That's what erks me the most about Some JD owners (not pointing fingers ) . They think there's nothing but green and they tote around like that stuff don't break . Let me tell ya , I've worked on my fair share of green and yellow stuff . Most farmers around here do own Deere , and it's not by choice . It's because that's the closest dealer to them , so when there overpriced green thing breaks , they can get a part . These new Walmart size dealers are for the birds . Things were a lot better when every town had a dealer and a choice of what color they wanted to own.

Nice @r356c It will serve you well. I'm surprised to see another one down here. Mine was it's identical twin (also 2005) until I made a few changes. We're only about 30 miles apart.

Got the seat bucket fit up and almost ready to fire up the mig. T I want to lower the hood more, but I need to select a power plant first so I have enough room. I'm torn between a free Briggs 7 and a $560 HF 22 twin. That old weight trainer I bought for $5 to get the 10 - 25 lb weights will make a pretty nice roll cage and seat pads.

The Toro belts have all worked for me, but they are pricey and never local. Lately I've been using Pix Kevlar belts (blue belts). They have done well. I usually get them at TSC.

Search the forum. There are threads on this topic about driving the spindle down through the pulley by supporting the deck underneath. I've never done it myself, only read about it.

If it's the same as my 701 it's 6.75".

When I got to Mathews today my neighbor called me over to see his latest acquisition. He got an old JD (MTD) riding mower, a 314-8 with 800 hours on it with a fairly new 42" deck. The paint on the deck is still bright red, and it has the reinforcing rod around it. The deck wheels still look new and the wheel bearings don't even have any play in them. The tractors look as if they have been sitting for a while, but the gas didn't smell old so all he did was put a battery in them and they started right up! And the price?? $30.00!!!

If that seat is not ripped it's worth a couple hundred bucks alone!

I decided on creating a "bloodshot" eye look for GhostRider and so I got my hands on some maroon plastic paint and painted my headlight bezels up. It took about an hour to finish the assembly of the fender pan, seat, wiring, headlights, bezels, and hood. I used an extra late model front emblem and put that on the rear pan. I'm still trying to decide what to do with the decals for the hood and rear fender pan. I'm thinking of using the movie style font for Wheel Horse on both sides of the hood. Something like this... I would have one made up that says "GhostRider" to be installed centered on the rear pan. WHX7 and ACHTO have suggested something like this... or this... to be placed at the "tower end" of the hood on both sides. What do you guys think? The GhostRider is still a work in progress but is getting closer all the time. I want to add more chrome to it and I need to get the back wheels painted Silver. Next up--letter it and then build a beefy hitch. I'm actually thinking of something that brackets off of the axle tubes like the Cat 0 on a GT-14 and links the pivot through the conventional rear axle hole.

My Uncle Roger held a plow day at his farm in early October and I felt that was a perfect time to do some more testing and tuning on GhostRider. Instead I only ended up making a couple of rounds on him since I was busy running and organizing the day. One guy with a Cub broke his lift arm/link assembly and we repaired it at the shop and got him right back plowing. We had a small group with about 15 tractors present but it was a blast! Watch this video and keep an eye out for GhostRider. My friend Nate is driving. I'm on my dad's Iron Horse (875)... GhostRider was running good and working well. I Wasn't real satisfied with the hitch assembly and will likely fabricate something a little more stout in the future, but other than that I know I have a winner! After Rogers plow day, I decided to take my two oldest on a weekend run to Buck Creek, Iowa for their plow day...

Shouldn't the rollcage dictate... using the 22hp twin.
