With all the record heat this year, I thought it might be nice to see some snow pictures for past years. Add some if you have them.

For years I have been struggling with the brake on my Wheel Horse 1067. Forward motion down hill takes left leg full force to stop and reverse motion down hill is impossible to stop. So I did a little research and ended up buying a new brake lining from RMaynard (Bob) here on Red Square. Instructions with it are simple and they work. Put the brake shoe and new lining on this morning (used Goop to attach the lining to the shoe). What a difference! Stops on a dime, on a hill, forward and reverse. Thanks, Bob !!

Have idea of building a wheel chair with a A81/111 mower . Thought I had one lined up for purchase this weekend , but my hopes are dashed . I want to use the tub manly and use wheel chair parts for the rest . My thoughts were to have my drive wheels centered under the machine , tucked up underneath kinda hidden . The four outside wheels on casters . So just like my chair it would be a true zero turn . My seat would be able to swivel for easy transfers and have my joystick control mounted on it . Don't know if I should keep steering wheel just for looks . I think this would be a good project not just for me but for anyone who'd like to tool around on a mower , rather than a chair or hoveround . So for now plan is on back burner until I can acquire a mower (cheap) . So in meantime if this will inspire someone else to build something like this , go for it . I'd love to see it happen .

There is something about snow pics of tractors, isn't there! A few of my favorites over the years.... Crazy May snowfall a couple years ago... this weather report was at 8am... it snowed until noon. 17" total. IN MAY LITERALLY FOUR DAYS LATER! Nice topic on a hot day @stevasaurus

OH.....I THOUGHT THAT WAS YOUR HOUSE.........I was about to go through my messages and find your phone # so I could call you and ask about borrowing some money and loaning me the use of a couple rooms for a while till I get back on my feet............

Thanks Jeff...that was taken at Lord's Park...a couple of blocks from my house. It was the first snow this last winter...it was also first ice. You can see the geese standing on the ice...it was fun watching them get used to the ice. Here is the other one from there. I've been wanting to take a horse down there for a photo shoot. You should see this place in the fall.

I got it The short of this story is, I tried to solder the joint and because it was so close to the metal edge of the plate, all it would do is short out, So I found a small finishing nail clipped the head off, and drove it into the center of the flush wire about 1/4 in. then I hooked up the wires to a battery and presto it worked, then I mixed a non metallic liquid metal around the joint, and then soldered the wire ends to the nail, and then covered all with liquid tape and it is working.

Yes, cool wishes on a hot day are all right with me....Try working in a power plant in this heat... By the way Jason, That clip you have with the orange dump truck and bridge doing the "never ending snow plowing" looks like something Steve would do in his spare time.

Let's be honest here. WH's, even 520s, are stout garden tractors, not SCUTs. Even my Deutz-Allis 1920, which is much larger than a 520 and has available a 3 pt hitch, is a large garden tractor. The question is, is there really a new garden tractor that can pull a single bottom plow, run a tiller, and dozer more than snow? Ingersoll, JD X500 and up, and that is it. Actually, Husky sells a front mount articulating mower in Europe that is a beast . . .dozer, blower, etc. Not even the new Kubota mowers are lawn tractors. Kubota BX are SCUTS, as are Massey low HP tractors. Simplicity Legacy and JD X700 series are sold as garden tractors or SCUTs, depending on the audience. But, the earlier comment is right. Buyers wanting ground engaging capabilities are directed toward SCUTS with 3 pt hitches and diesels. There are MANY manufacturers of high end zero turn mowers. Every region has there own favorite. This is the high end market, not true garden tractors. If I were thinking of adding a new product, I'd go electric (eg Mean Green) and/or robotic. So I'm looking for a winter rebuild/restore/project to be a mower next summer. I know there are better mowers out there but for the amount of mowing I do it doesn't matter. It takes 20 minutes now with a 36" deck taking my time. I really like the tractors with round fenders...remind me of "real" tractors for some reason. What models came with fenders like the photo (random one from the Internet). I'd be more interested in a square hood with round fenders if it even exists. What models came with in that combination? So I can start looking.

Here are a few first day pics. Bruce's & My display, a lowered Farmall that was really cool. Show tractor rows and a really cool model train layout. MAN DOWN!!!!!

I looked!! I don't know why. This deserves the family, summer picnic table in the winter...notice the bird bath behind it. The snow was too deep for my son's K-9...he does this all summer also. Terry...I have to say that I remember that snow thing Jason posted...I have always liked that.

Good thing you clarified that @DougC. I was going to say that the ATF usually clings more to the glass, has a hint of blackberry along with a slight taste of mushroom and finishes nicely. The aroma is that of elderberry. The 10w30 goes better with fish and is usually on the dry side of the pallet with hints of oak and peat.

How about a good used Wheel Horse? Cheaper to purchase, easy to work on, access to this great forum for advice, parts, etc. .......... Just thinking out loud.

You don't want to switch oils if possible. Hopefully, the oil is in there...if it is tan colored use 10w30...if it is red use the automatic trans fluid. If it is not reading on the dip stick, there should be a plug near the axle housing on the back...open that up and stick a straw down there.

Got the grill installed, single wire 60amp alternator working and had FleetPride rebuild the last lift cylinder so it doesn't leak anymore. Still lots of things to tidy up under the dash for wiring and gauges. Seems to be working great though.

Well went out to start my b80 yesterday and 1 click is all I got. So I figured it had a dead battery. I charged the battery and tried again and 1 click. Battery has good charge but it did go to 11.79 volts overnight so I went and got a new battery. Tried with new battery and 1 click. Now I have to check wires, starter, switch and solenoid. So I checked what I thought it would be solenoid and bingo that's what it was. I looked for a 3 pole solenoid and no one has one not even napa. Every one has to order it. So I went to tractor supply and got a 4 pole . After checking some post on Redsqure I hooked it up using only the S post ,battery and starter post and she started up great. THANKS AGAIN REDSQUARE GUYS. This is the very reason why last year I bought my first ever wheel horse and not another craftsman. I did a lot of research for a tractor and found this site. I could read everything about wheelhorse that I didn't know anything about. Smartest move I've ever made. And the saddest thing is I love working on them. Can't wait for another break down....... .

Hammering them back is just a temporary fix. I got tired of them coming apart and fix mine. That as 27 years ago haven't had any come apart.

Thanks to you, Denny. That 701 is so solid. I let the clutch out in 3rd a little quicker than I should have at about 3/4 throttle and raised the front off the ground like it was nothing. No harm done but it surprised me. Thanks again.

Maybe the term "fad" is incorrect, but it's the in-vogue thing today. More and more homeowners are getting one, even when their land/yard/etc. doesn't really warrant one. So, I say part fad, part functionality.

913 nut is right it is a Ford and it works and looks just like the old original solenoid. When I got it home the first thing I did is to check the ground at the mounting bracket . It was grounded but the post marked I was not. Here is some pics .

Final touches to the install, a hood to keep the rain and snow off.... intend to leave the gen set on the tractor so that when and if an outage occurs all I have to do is start the GT14 and hit the PTO switch. Note: hood is made from a old Sears Suburban surplus fender, used etching primer and Sunset Red rustoleum.

While scrounging for parts for my 310-8 I came across a 99 314-8 350 hrs all original always garaged. All stickers still on really clean with a deck. Kohler command pro what do you suppose this is worth? Might need to add to the stable but dont want to get ripped of either

Take off the complete tierod .... insert the ball back into the hole .... hold the rod with the OK end on the floor .... now hammer the loose end with a hammer ... this will egg-shape the hole and retain the ball. You're good for another few years! Hammer it until the ball is snug.

Already acquired it! It is the real deal, and im happy to own it. I'd just prefer to own it sitting in a short frame lol

You would have to buy a sub compact tractor to get the quality that wheel horse had. Or a quality zero turn. Im not a fan of zero turns I prefer a traditional lawn tractor and prefer saving my money and buying used wheel horses. But I'm not making a living mowing.
