Think I'm spying... another calendar shot here.

When I cleaned up the lawn cart I got at the auction on Sat., I noticed this angled plate welded to the rear lip. Apparently this was added to assist in digging in when pushing the cart back to complete the dumping procedure. The plate is not shown on my 7-2211 parts and instruction picture. Is this something WH added later, or is this an owners add on. Even with the plate, the cart did not dig in enough to raise the cart as the instructions indicate. I had to lift it by hand to dump the apples.

A friend picked up a 702 but the grill was toasted. He managed to find another hood with a good front but the rear was hacked. So I took it and cut the bad grill behind the seam and the good hood and cut it in front of the seam. Ground out the spot welds and peeled out the sheetmetal. This stuff is thin but I turned down the heat and got them joined back together. I will weld the bad grill and bad hood top back together for a rat something. Didn't turn out bad.

Well, looks like Dad has appointments everyday this week so I'll try to check in. I got the wheels painted, decided to use my short frame front wheels for the rod look, and clear coated the tractor. Overall I'm pretty pleased with how it looks. Going to put a back rest on the seat. Our tractor club is having our annual show this thurs - sat and I'm going to take all 6 of our horses. Not many people around here know much about . Oh, I've already tried the wheelie bars - that front lifts really easily.

Hi all, I've just finished building a trailer for my wheel horse, It was built almost entirely out of material I had lying around. As I'm sure is quite evident I am definitely not a woodworker But I think its come out quite well. I will be strengthening the tongue with angle section but in keeping with the theme of the project I would like to find this rather than buy it! My only complaint about it is that it is very heavy! but other than that I am very happy with it and even got the chance to test it out the other day. I'd say I had about 200-250KG of bench vices, cast iron stuff, tool boxes and other 'under the bench' workshop items and it didn't complain at all (nor did the wheel horse for that matter) I think I will attach some eyelets in strategic locations for securing stuff at a later date. A friend has two Commando 8s with the same model number, 1-4831. One is the normal 4 speed, the other is an 8 speed. The book says they were all 4 speeds has anyone else seen this model with the 8 speed? Here are some pictures.

Thanks Jason, I was just starting to type out my thoughts, but you beat me to it. I hope I don't "tick-off" anybody....But I don't see a reason to give a " heads up" on everything Thats advertised for sale out on the internet ( no sarcasm intended). As some people may know, This hobby is getting very competitive . And, I myself often scan the internet for WH related things and will drive the distance to buy it if I want it bad enough... and when I'm eyeing something on a site, then someone posts on RS and says "Hey, look whats for sale in MN, IL,or Chicago!!" , it pretty much wrecks any chance I had of maybe getting the item. And I'd be willing to bet lots of people will agree with me. What I really am trying to say is to just let people do the work themselves in finding stuff.....Please. Sorry, just had to say this.

Got the C-120 fired up yesterday!! All new fuel line,new battery, new coil, changed oil and a tank of 91 octane gas. As my Uncle would say " It runs like a Waterbury watch". Mowed lawn with it and I was very impressed with the nice job it did. Have to be honest... This is the first time I ever mowed lawn with a Wheel Horse.

You answered your own question... no need to promote them. They take care of themselves. On this site we don't promote "heads up" type posts. You can do as Craig has suggested, but I would discourage making yourself the middle-man, especially in a transaction you have no vested interest in. There have been several times in the past when a member posted up a "heads up" that another member was already working a deal on, then by the time that member went to pick up their machine, the price had gone up because some other "helpful" member had let the seller know it was rare or being sold too cheap, or the item had been sold out from under them because the seller took another faster/better offer. Most times being helpful, is often more unhelpful. So, we just choose not to promote it. We are all here, obviously we know how to use a computer. We found our way to the forum, we can (and probably are) already searching ebay and/or craigslist if looking to buy. Nevermind the fact that neither Craigslist nor ebay pays us or you to advertise for them.

One thing working on the 1054 and now the C-120 I should be able to figure out how to get the 875 fired up. Yes you're right I am hooked for life!!

I took quite a few pictures at this year's "Power From the Past Show" held in Winamac, Indiana. Lots of Wheel Horses, other Red Square members and fun times. This is a sampling from Friday and Saturday this past weekend.

The wheat harvest was in full swing today in SC Pa. With 2 JD combines w/30' heads, 2 grain haulers, 2 balers, and several grain trucks. I know this is a small operation for you western guys, but this is a pretty big operation for the rolling hills of SC Pa.

A computer and an outhouse ? Guess we all have our priorities ......

Can you post up a couple pictures? Did you find a slot hitch plow for the 857, or is it the common Brinly clevis? Which model? There are many variables at play here... type of hitch, length of bar, length of hitch.... need some more details to get a good idea. Personally I have a slot hitch, and it lifts quite high... much higher than recommended for travel I believe.

It would have to had been a special order. When we were selling them back then I don't remember any special orders. Only thing I remember was if a customer wanted ag tire's or not. I was quite young so memory is starting to fade a tad. If a customer wanted a option. The option was put on at the dealer. Ex- hydro lifts, head lights, hub caps, etc. Now I have seen strang things come out of the factory. They most definitely used what was setting on the shelf. At the end of a model year and beginning of the next. I remember seeing miss match tire's as far as manufacture. Same tread but different maker. Even different shades of paint from when they changed batches. On some of are old dealer ordering info. They would offer tractors that would have techy's on them as advertised but have a option for a dealer to order Kohlers on them instead.

I took the mule drive and deck off the 418 I bought and put them on the one I already had and started mowing with it. It cuts so much better than my other one that I parked the JD I was using out back. Only thing I miss is the power steering and using my feet for the direction. If I get the parts tractor going, I think I am going to strip the JD of its power steering and put it on the 418a. Then I will figure out a way to adapt the foot pedals to the tractor for a total package. One day.......

That extra lip tab was standard and on the back of the carts. It was probably just out of the line of sight on the manual photo due to the angle or something. Most of the carts I've seen are bent there from use just like that. It was a good idea in theory, but the rest of the back lip of the cart wasn't designed right to hold up to it. Clever title by the way....

I really like it. Actually got off the mower and my back wasn't killing me. With the exception of a Yazoo Master Mower my Father- in- law had all I have ever mowed with is "box store" riders. Mrs. TIG even complimented how nice the lawn looked.

Timber Rattlers come in several colors....dark phase, black and brown and light phase, yellow.

I ran across a 1968 Commando 8 with a 8 speed in it, but the owner said he changed out the transmission as the old 3 speed was shot. I also in the camp that this one shown here had the tranny swapped out at one point.

And if that "sentence" wasn't gift enough, he was rewarded with a long, repeatedly re-elected, tax-payer paid career in the Senate. Sad...Not sure what it says about our collective voting intelligence...

I used nitrile gloves, lots of shop towels and kerosene to clean mine out. If you don't, the remaining grease is like a magnet for the media. Your making extremely good time with your restoration. My welder did a really good job bracing the fenders but one of them did deform/twist from the heat. When I installed them as the fender straightened it broke loose the filler so I'll likely re-do the filler and paint when I tear it down at some point to finish the hydro foot control. Im having trouble motivating myself to work in the 90 degree heat. Once temps drop to lower 80's again I hope to catch my second wind so to speak. Keep up the great work and updates!

I'm betting... the original rear was swapped out at some point.

I usually have a King snake around he keeps the other snakes away or kills them.

I'm fine with rattle snakes. Copper heads are nasty!

One more reason I like Michigan . We have one poisonous snake , the eastern massasauga rattlesnake . It's rarely seen where I live and I like it that way !

With the engine running more than half throttle, measure the voltage at the A terminal, it should be 13 to 14.5 volts. If it is 12.5 or less, ground the F terminal, if the voltage goes up to 13 to 14.5, most likely the problem is the regulator. Other possibilities are the wire from the F terminal to the voltage regulator, and the ground on the regulator not being good. If the voltage at the A terminal is 14.5 to 17 volts when you ground the F terminal, the regulator cut-out section is probably not connecting the A terminal to the battery. If the unit is measuring 13 to 14.5 volts at the A [without an external ground applied to the F terminal] terminal, the voltage measured at the battery should be within .1 or.2 volts of the voltage measured at the A terminal, if it is the system is working correctly.

Wife bought a Stihl Yard Boss they also doubled the warranty with the oil pack. I gave the oil to a co-worker with an outboard. Ken ever hear of Anti Monkey Butt Powder?

Yeah, the wheel horses do give a nice cut. They are not as fast as the 20+ horsepower z-turns but the work is so much more enjoyable.

Can you grind the weld to separate the shaft and pulley with out ruining the parts?? Other wise you will have to cut it off to replace those bearings and seal. Try to save that pulley if you can, I have a parts transmission opened up at the moment.

If you do a tranny swap you have to change the shifter plate because a 3 speed plate is too big, the plate like what's on a 867 is shorter to allow room for the Hi-lo shifter.

Hi all.... More blasting, polycarbide wheel spinning, priming and painting going on. My fenders have the common cracks in them. I'll be looking to get them welded and a bracket/reinforcement stuck in there to much like Aldon had done to his. Here are some pics of where I am today. I have painted the frame and the trailer hitch I have. There are more primed pieces to paint but couldn't get to them today. It was very hot here in NJ so by the time 2PM rolled around it was time to get to the pool. I pulled the bearings out of the front wheels today and sandblasted them up. Looks like a bunch of media managed to get in there. Any idea on how be sure it's all cleaned out. I mean it's filled with grease too. I did my best to wipe it clean but I'm just not certain it's good enough. How about spraying some mineral spirits in there? Think that would help clean it out? Next big task for me is to get the rear painted up.

This one was in my backyard. I almost stepped on it while going to the shed for tools. After that, everything in my yard looked like a snake. Wife laughed. I almost pooped myself. This is the only Diamondback I have killed in my yard. I have killed several pygmy rattlers and caught one very long coral snake.

Damn, you guys are freaking me out with all this snake talk! We have rattlesnakes AND copperheads at our place in Virginia, and they scare the living p**s out of me. I'm going down there by myself this next weekend, and I'm so NOT looking forward to this trip. Wishin, can you explain what you mean by "dark phase"?

Opening with an ultimatum , no matter how nicely it's worded , in not a good idea . Make sure you have all your ducks in a row ( past ppwk ,receipts ,agreements etc ) . Ask if the owner's available & if not when & where can he be reached ? Don't talk to the guy pushing the broom . My $ 0.02 .

Right here.. "Rippedit" Hye hye hye..

Hi all.... Been busy... The skies have been threatening the first half of the day. Anyway, I managed to get a lot of stripping, priming, and painting done. Here are some pics. i moved the painted parts to my garage once and then out to dry again once the sun came out. I tried using a polyurethane final coat but it did not react well with the paint. BTW.. I used Regal Red. I tested it on the gas tank holder on the underside. Here is a pic of the poor finish. It gave it wrinkle effect. Not what I was looking for. While I was in Home Depot buying the paint my 5 year old daughter who was with me suggested we paint it pinkish purplish glitter. I suggested we do her bicycle that color. So, her bicycle ended up in the paint cycle. I just painted the frame. It was originally red. She's happy and she thinks I can do ANYTHING... Lol... That really boosts ones self esteem. I still have like 5 fender pieces left and a bunch of little parts the still need to be sand blasted. I'll be pushing through out the week to get a bit more sand blasting done.
