9 pointsI want to enter the seat on my running 1267. It is definitely ugly and should receive bonus points for the patterned destruction that continues through the foam underneath as well as the selective preservation of the Wheel Horse logo. You will also find a tasteful display of the local flora both on the seat itself and below the shifter. This seat has served as late as this morning when I drove it to work. Have considered removing the covering but thinking the fiberglass pan just might be a problem as well. Scratch, scratch.

6 pointsTonto, you see that guy at the bus stop sleeping with the New York sign? Go get the sheriff and have him arrested for vagrancy!!
-
6 pointsWith the aid of a remote tank "soda bottle with a hose jammed in it" , a piece of rope, and some duct tape I drove this beauty on the trailer when I bought it. Ants had taken up residents in the seat, wish I would've noticed that before I drove it on the trailer. Close up so you can take in the true beauty of this throne.

4 pointsI would take a look at the pto clutch adjustment. The pto is right under the exhaust, so this is best to do when the engine is cool to prevent burns. There is a threaded section on the engagement rod, jut give it one turn at a time until the pto lever has a nice snap upon engagement. Have had the same issue, and it is a high pitch squeal from the clutch on the pto slipping. Gluck! (Sorry it's upside down, but u can see the adjustment if you do a handstand)

4 pointsBeing a Tecumseh guy, I personally think that if the engine runs good and is capable of its full potential ,you'll be ok riding around. But I'm almost sure your going to just have to test its limits as far as pulling a trailer with dirt. I have driven My son's Lawn Ranger, with a very tired H60, up a fairly steep grade, with my three kids in a dump cart (12,12&13 years old) and my 220lb. self and it's done ok. The smaller tractors with smaller wheels seem to do a little better when it come to the marginal power of the Tecumsehs. Where I ran into trouble with my Lawn Rangers was the traction (with the old original turf tires) when driving on the slopes of my back yard.....but a set of new ag tires fixed that. I hope this helps some.. Here is a pic of my son's Lawn ranger last year helping us bigger guys plow..

4 points5-26-1927 Last day of Model T production at Ford On this day in 1927, Henry Ford and his son Edsel drive the 15 millionth Model T Ford out of their factory, marking the famous automobile’s official last day of production. More than any other vehicle, the relatively affordable and efficient Model T was responsible for accelerating the automobile’s introduction into American society during the first quarter of the 20th century. Introduced in October 1908, the Model T—also known as the “Tin Lizzie”—weighed some 1,200 pounds, with a 20-horsepower, four-cylinder engine. It got about 13 to 21 miles per gallon of gasoline and could travel up to 45 mph. Initially selling for around $850 (around $20,000 in today’s dollars), the Model T would later sell for as little as $260 (around $6,000 today) for the basic no-extras model. Largely due to the Model T’s incredible popularity, the U.S. government made construction of new roads one of its top priorities by 1920. By 1926, however, the Lizzie had become outdated in a rapidly expanding market for cheaper cars. While Henry Ford had hoped to keep up production of the Model T while retooling his factories for its replacement, the Model A, lack of demand forced his hand. On May 25, 1927, he made headlines around the world with the announcement that he was discontinuing the Model T. As recorded by Douglas Brinkley in “Wheels for the World,” his biography of Ford, the legendary carmaker delivered a eulogy for his most memorable creation: “It had stamina and power. It was the car that ran before there were good roads to run on. It broke down the barriers of distance in rural sections, brought people of these sections closer together and placed education within the reach of everyone.”

4 pointsYou guys stay up too late looking at seats! My comments: If we had pics of the ants or bite marks Tied for first! Craig gets the extra points for the Ivy and the comedy of the block of wood and missing back half of the tractor but loses some on the Bolens. That's actually a nice seat! Zeek already has 8x10 pics of me all over his garage so he's out unless he can bring me some of that chicken! 417 seat is too dangerous to look at if your on blood thinners like me. Nice trailer!

3 pointsI don't know if this has been done before but I have been inspired by another member to sponsor this. SHOW US YOUR UGLY SEAT! Rules: 1) Must be mounted on a running or not ..no other brands please they are ugly enough. 2) Need not be orginal seat but brownie points if it is. 3) More brownie points if you still actually use it for quality seat time. 4) Lots of extra brownie points if it's on a trailer queen. 5) No photo shopping .. 6) Can be a pic found on the net but see rule #1 Anyone caught violating above rules will be tied to a G & Y thingy and beaten with a reallyyy dull set of mower blades. In the event of a tie.... I dunno ain't figured that out yet. in the event something else stupid comes up ...I dunno..ain't figured that out either ...we'll wing it. (Hey flying by the SEAT of my pants here) Winner to be determined by number of likes. Grand prize is either an autographed picture of squonk at the bus stop or some kind of horse trinket, winner's choice. I will kick this off with one but i KNOW there are alot better ones out there. (Mods, I thought there was a forum for contests but I fail to find it now, please move this thread if appropriate)

3 pointsLooking at the pictures of the inside of your transmission, I don't see anything wrong. It should clean up just fine. Soak all gears and bearings in diesel, then use a wire brush and scraper to clean. I don't see any rust, but a wire wheel would take care of that. I see you have the newer style bolt on bull gear and separate differential housing. Those bolt holes can be fixed. Do you have the pieces that broke off?? They can be welded back on and strengthened...or fabricated if need be. If I had to do this again, I would do it a little different, but this did work. The welded plate needs to be flush with the gasket edge of the case. Welding the bottom plate and then one on top, drill and tap. I used 3/4" x 1/4" bar purchased from TSC.
-
3 pointsThanks!! for the help guys, Really appreciated. Still have to get it home and then I'll take some photos of ID tags on it and more of the tractor. If she needs any welding repair I think I know a guy that can to it... With helpful information from this site I will do my best to have her looking like she did back in the day.

3 pointsSOLD I will be selling my '57 rj 35. Included are 3 additional Kohler K-90's - 1 working 2 for parts. The hood is in great shape - dead straight no rust holes gouges etc. Gas tank doesn't leak. Kill switch has been added since photos were taken. The only non- original parts are 2 engine shrouds and a reproduction belt guard which is currently on order from Joe Papke. Although the engine came to me as a rope start I do have a Schnake pull start for the engine. I'm looking for 1750.00 - OR BEST OFFER. Would consider a trade for another Wheel Horse tractor I'd be looking for something in C, D, 400, 500 series 18 horse or better. Kohler definitely. Preference is 8 speed.

3 pointsSo, out of curiosity, in honor of this mash pole, is anyone going to display one like the original 1054 ad?

2 pointsWell, my 520HC started doing exactly as you described. It would run perfect then as I was mowing, it would start to hunt. Carb perfectly clean, and I have been using this machine for the last year for just moving trailers around in the summer and plowing snow a little in the winter. Never mowed with this unit since I got it and rebuilt it. Since I just built a 48" deck, I installed it on this machine to test both the deck and tractor out. Never hunts when not mowing, that must get things hotter. I noticed at this point (when the hunting starts) that the fuel filter was empty, and there were just bubbles coming in on the inlet. I had a spare fuel pump so I swapped it out and the filter filled right back up and I proceeded to mow. For a while anyways, then the surge came back. Drove back to the garage where I noticed the filter empty again and bubbles feeding into it. I also just happened to notice gas line was laying directly on the oil filter. Moved gas line to the other side of the negative battery cable which put it at least an inch away from any direct engine heat and finished mowing the yard. After almost an Hour of running, the filter maintains a liquid level not full but a good 1/4 and the engine ran smooth all the way through. I believe that the fuel line was getting hot on the filter in combination with the fuel pump pulling a vacuum on it causing a vapour lock at the pump. Next time I mow the lawn I will see what happens.

2 pointsThat looks great Steve. I do see the issue why you'd do it different the next time. Maybe building it up with some JB shaping, re-tapping and a good thread sealant would do the trick. You wouldn't have to worry about stressing the JB, just giving the gasket the opportunity to seal. Your fix is going to take all the stress you can throw at it.
