Guy I got my 1277 from was digging in his yard the other day and found the Wheel Horse aerator that went with my tractor...picked it up this morning and it's a nice day so figured I would try it out

Well thanks to a fellow member here "Waterlooboy2hp" for selling me a really nice square pan seat for my new 753, I got it mounted to see how it looked. This weekend when it warms up I will be painting it regal red and then at the big show I will be picking up a seat cover from another member from here, so thanks again waterlooboy2hp and buckrancher for your help! Here are a few pics for now. Working on getting exhaust back similar to stock also

Last year I finally got the folks up the street to turn loose of the 1267 sitting out nest to the shed with a piece of plywood on top of it. Then a few weeks ago I happened across tis 520 Hydro for an acceptable price. Guess this makes me a Wheel Horse guy. Im happy with the title. Love these little tractors. The 1267 pushes snow like a beast and that hydro on the 520 makes mowing a breeze. Thanks for the addition to the group.

Hi everyone. I just joined here yesterday and would like to share a few pictures of my 1257 horse. Still on the look out for a plow assembly. But here she is. My dad owned it for 8 years. He had to move and down size so I inherited it. He took every nut and bolt off and painted it all by hand. I painted the wheels put on the lights and got it to run smooth again along with new battery plug a new wire and coil. She's a work in progress.

Well, as the title states, I just added a 1984 C195 to the herd this evening. It has around 1100 hours on it but doesn't show it at all. I've never seen one in person until tonight and it is quite a bit larger than my C165 with the swept axle! Wow. I was a bit skeptical of this machine having a series one KT19 but after seeing it start, run, and cut some grass it sounded nice with no abnormal noises or smells; all deck spindles are quiet and the hydro works great, even the fender pan is in tact! It will need a new pto belt and PTO crank seal but that is something I can replace in a few hours and I don't consider that to be a big deal. My C165 seems little when parked beside it and I consider that one big compared to 95% of the new stuff on the lot these days! Here are a few pictures after I unloaded it from the trailer and there will be more pictures to follow as I clean her up! Never mind the spare trailer tire as my wheel chock, the parking brake needs some adjusting! Hopefully my dad doesn't get too upset with my growing collection in his garage!

Here it is being pulled by the resident Clydesdale

The various attachments aren't always as easy to swap out as the documentation and sales brochures made them out to be (especially when it comes to their weight). You may eventually come around to a common philosophy of just getting one tractor for each attachment and leave them on.

Had to pull this rock out of the edge of the garden with the Case 730. Pulled it to the edge of the pond and then kicked in into the pond with the GT-14. It may make a good rock to stand on while fishing. Some fishermen like that sort of thing.

Realized today as I was installing mid mount attach-a-matic mounts that I had installed the fan gear to spindle tie Rod upside down or reversed. Switched it back. The design of this tie Rod does not match the one on Lazarus. And this tie Rod impacts with mid mount hardware and limits turn radius. Gonna leave it for now but may have a new one made up later using Lazarus' as template. Seat is installed and rear panel and decal. Starting to look like a tractor again. Rain is on forecast for tomorrow but hopefully I can do wiring and tackle some additional assembly. The countdown is ticking down to Monday when I have to start earning a living again.

Looking through a lot of show pictures lately, and realized I never added my 2015 Le Sueur pictures from last year. A little late... but also getting anxious for show season pics to start coming in!!! Trying not to duplicate above pictures too much, but some of the tractors we get to see are just that fantastic that everyone wants to take a pic! Enjoy!

If you stare at it long enough, numbers will appear, just like those computer generated pictures that some people can see and others can't, but when you stare at them long enough, cross your eyes, and let your brain go out of gear, a 3D image appears. I have stared at the image here for hours and now and have gone cross-eyed, but I now see 1- 7231. That would be an early model 1968 Charger 12, with a Kohler k301S-4712B which had a starter/generator and Sunstrand transmission. The hood is a '72 to '75 replacement, and the soft steering wheel is also a replacement. Just my worth.

This TOW VALVE / PUSH VALVE is in a really awkward place on the left side...hard to get to and a long broad flat screwdriver doesn't always work. If you can find VISE GRIPS small enough to get onto the valve stem is a better way. With the vise grips VERY TIGHT on the valve stem, give the grips a quick WHACK.....rather than applying a lot of brute force. The quick WHACK should break it loose. Here is what it would look like apart:

To add to that Richard his little brother asked me where I got all the parts to build it and do I have enough parts to build another one!

Looks like you have a nice start to a project there. The fun part of these little red tractors is the multitude of things you can do with them. Some guys like to keep them as functional workers, while others like to fully restore them. Yet others like to build pulling tractors and then there are those who build all-out customs. Whatever you decide to do with it you are definitely at the right place for any advice on anything you run into along the way and be sure to post pictures as you move along...we love looking at pictures around here

Hello Everyone, First off I would like to say this is a great forum, heaps of information, helpful people and respect for machinery! This is the story of my Horse, it was traded in at work on a new machine (not sure what the customer bought but in my opinion they got the raw end of the deal), I was immediately interested in it as I have seen a lot of lawn tractors but nothing like this before, it was in a sad and sorry state it did not run but the panels were all straight and was complete. I got it home and replaced the battery and checked over the engine, it cranked and started once primed, the sound of the Onan roaring to life is amazing. I have done some cleaning on it, polishing the hubcaps makes it stand out, they are not perfect but look good still! My intent is to give it a good clean, fix anything that is on the way out or missing. I am currently tossing up having to repaint some areas around the pump and bonnet, I know since it is after 1990 'Toro Red' is the preferred colour over Rust-Oleum Regal Red, what is everyones thoughts? And here is some pics! Love at first sight! After its clean (looking good) Getting down and dirty (Probably the heaviest engine i have had to move) Yummy, frequent cleaning would have prevented this (and a air blower would help) After its clean! Will keep you all posted!

Hey guys my name is Rob. I have been searching this site for a few years and finally singed up. I appreciate all of the great information on this site. I have been a fan of Wheel Horse since I was a kid mowing the grass on my dad's C-165. He still has his C-165 and it still runs great. I moved back to OH last year and bought the '85 416-8 on the trailer, and a few weeks ago I picked up a '88 416-8 and a 42" sickle bar in a package deal. I wish the bar fit the 416 but it gives me an excuse to buy another Wheel Horse!! I am looking at a 856 or a Commando 8(which would you choose?) to fill this need. I just need to find a way to explain to my wife why I need a third horse.

I wasn't even looking for a tractor. Matter a fact I'm not far from getting the 856 back together. A local retired guy put up an add for a SS15 with a schlew of attachments. For a whopping $225. I was on it like white on rice. Tank of a tractor with chains, rear weights, and rear concrete block. Came with snow blower, plow, mid mount grader blade, front manual tip bucket, mower deck, sickle mower, a rear plow, and a rear disk harrow. He even delivered the tractor to my house as it was hairy trying to get it into my truck. Have been using her the past two evenings. All original, missing right side foot board, lights dont work(blown fuse). I think I did well. pictures to follow.

Well, I brought her home with me. I have to say, this thing feels big next to my C165 and 520H! And neither of those are exactly small! The bad: it doesn't turn very sharp (not a surprise), it needs a new PTO belt and a PTO side oil seal, lastly, the parking brake doesn't engage very easily (all minor issues). The good: It starts and runs pretty darn good, the 60" deck is super quiet, new high back seat, and the whole machine is straight and clean; even the rear fender is complete! Man does this engine sound incredible when idling!!!

yeah that's my c-175 pulled from beneath a dirt pile actually we are trying to be picky about which ones we get....but wheel horse up here is Rare compared to Indiana Pennsylvania and other areas, so being in the buying mood does kinda drum up the idea of consider anything that is wheel horse.... we are sticking to arch fenders ...what we want next is a D model not with an onan with pto and 3 point...and an rj.

After I "snaked" in all this firewood, it commenced to rain. And the grass grew up all around the wood. We have an abundance of snakes around here, with quite a few copperheads. So I mowed around the wood and then took the Wheelhorse and pushed the wood to the mowed areas. Hopefully I will have a fighting chance against the snakes in the short grass. When I get it sawed up, instead of loading and hauling it to the stack I may push it to the stack with the horse. Could be a back saver.

I know of a CL ad of a guy selling GT 14 parts who lives about 30 minutes from the show, very close to Harrisburg. Has has an active ad here at RS with some GT 14 parts (posted on March 7), but I've had trouble getting him to communicate. He had an electric clutch for sale and I actually talked with him about it. He said he'd get back to me when he got the clutch off, but I never heard from him. The CL ad is more recent and more updated than the above RS ad. The CL ad says he has "All sheet metal for rear fenders includes tail lights". That ad has been posted for about 6 weeks now, so I don't think he's getting much action from his listings at RS or CL. Don't know if he might be willing to split a set up, but it might be worth asking. His phone number is in both ads. If you want the CL ad link, PM me, and I'll reply with the info.

I use the brand name FELPRO for gasket material. Take a small piece of the original gasket to any auto parts store to get the correct thickness. The material is made of strong non-porous material, just like OEM. You MAY be able to buy new gaskets on-line....here they are:

bds1984, If the hydraulics controls are down low on finder pan it is a 1982, if up high on finder pan it is a 1984, they made 502 1982's and only about 50 of the 1984. The biggest problem with the C-195's is they came with a KT-19 series I engine which only has about 5 lbs of oil pressure. They will last a long time if ran on level ground not so long if used in hill country. If it has a 3pt hitch that alone is worth about 300.00. Good luck, I like mine. Thanks Ron

Welcome to the Wheel Horse family! Two classics in one year, you're addicted. Don't worry though, most of us here have the same problem. We help each other through it. The important thing to know is, if you ever have a question or problem with your Wheel Horses, this is the place to come. These tractors are very resilient. The Red Square members will help you get every ounce of performance out of your herd for a long long time. And if you ever need to add to or thin the herd, we'll help with that too. We feed on pictures, so don't hesitate to capture your horses in action. Or, if you have a question/problem, a picture will be worth a thousand words. Welcome!

By any chance can you read the model number? The tag should be on the steering tower just under the dash. That steering was put on some of the 500 Specials made in 1968. Not conclusive but at least some evidence. Love the rear meats. You need a belt cover on it to stop the belt. Otherwise you will be grinding gears and damaging the transmission.
