9 pointsHi all, I was finally able to take a week off and lost myself in catching-up on the '80 C-125. I've had the engine sitting rebuilt on the bench - repaired the Hi/Lo last year - and was finally able to run her in last Tuesday after mounting. She only needed rings and a good valve lap. There is no end to the money that can be spent on a restoration or the amount of time in grinding, priming and painting with old Regal Red. At this rate, it will be summer before I'm done but it will have been worth the love. The 42" deck can use some minor welding but I had everything operational before I tore her down. Too much repair to list as this poor girl was buried in a southern backyard. Enjoy the pics - August last year after dragging it onto the trailer, this past Tuesday for break-in and just a few minutes ago. Back to work tomorrow so no more fun all day in the garage but should at least have the covers on when the Jacks belt and PTO brake order gets here later in the week.

7 pointsHello everyone, I spoke to (Charles) the owner of this Wheel Horse Senior that is For Sale. I have added him to the Registry making this tractor the 45th known Senior. Here is what we talked about, He purchased the tractor 6 years ago at the show in PA. He drives it around his acre lot every once in awhile to keep it lubed up. He is out of room and is selling this and some other Wheel Horse tractors. He hopes to get to the show this year & bring the senior if he still has it. He has grand children and health issues that take up a lot of his time. The tractor HAS been restored, but is original other than paint He is asking $5500, He knows what it is worth so don't waste his time with some lowball offer. If you can not find the ad on Craigslist contact me, he gave me permission to give out his number to interested parties. Thank You, Ron Greco rsgreco@embarqmail.com

6 pointsKeep it up with comedy videos! How about a sequel when you go around that bush the other way or a bigger one? I know everyone is busting your balls but it's all in good fun! It's just so rare to actually get that kind of stuff on video so I'm glad you're comfortable enough to post it and THANK YOU for posting it too! "Anyone who takes himself too seriously always runs the risk of looking ridiculous; anyone who can consistently laugh at himself does not." Vaclav Havel

5 pointsThanks for the update Ron, if he does't make it to the big show and you speak with him again wish him the best of health from all of us here and tell him we all love his tractor.
-
5 pointsWallfish You, sir, have epic timing. The right words at just the right moment. Thanks. Literally have just sat down at my computer after relaying my tale of woe to a client. Have to admit feeling a bit of regret for posting it, but you've put it all in perspective. It is a funny moment... and we all need to be able to laugh at ourselves when life throws us a curve while we're looking for the fastball.

5 pointsI went with stacks on my Predator swapped D series because finding a muffler that would fit as a stock one would is near impossible (and expensive), plus I have plans for a single wire alternator to sit in the space a muffler would typically sit on my tractor. So I did it out of need and I think they look cool

4 pointsThis was gonna be a winter project, but, I guess I just work slow. EVERYTHING is painted (Rustoleum regal red) and am now getting around to nailing it all back togather. Sent the wheels and seat out for powder coating and gonna need to pick up some rubber..........then I can start on the newly acquired 753!

4 pointsI've been wanting to do this for a while. Skonk (1267) is my favorite puttin around tractor and I have all ready installed frt. and mid Tach-O-Matics. So now after fixing an oil breather leak, it's time to install the more plentiful std. deck. Just had to figure out how to lift it as the 1267 doesn't have the lift bar nor holes in the frame to install one. Used a chain and trunion from the rock shaft and drilled a hole in the deck bar to attach the chain. I do need to add a link or two.

3 pointsWell....after starting my last project, The Raider Rat, I decided to grab another project to tinker with. It's a 1969 Wheel Horse Charger 12 Automatic Drive. Came with a 42" mid mount deck as well! Found it in the same town that I am currently living in. They also had a Raider 12....which I tried to get but I was too late at the time. This one will be either a resto mod or keeping it completely original. I'm not against fixing it then flipping it for money to put in my Raider either. It does run and drive. The hydrostat lever needs adjusted as it creeps forward once you release the clutch. A few odds and ends need to be done but it's a great unit so far. The deck needs a new spindle and pulley so I'm hoping I can find those easily. I would like to do the normal full service on it also. As always...on to the pics!!

3 pointshello all, bank holiday week end with the grass finally reasonably dry means it is time to get the wheel horse out! the shed will be coming down soon for an extension with the not so lawn like patch of soil being a patio, so I attached the plough and had a bit of fun, the ground was very compact with lots of stones and bits of brick and i only had two or so meters to play with so i couldn't get the plough right in there but all went really well, I can't wait to get her up to the allotment or to a rally with a working section! thank for looking Callum

3 pointsThat's a great modification to your rails, It will help to prevent the transmission from locking up in two gears. Are you needing a mushroom gear? Here's some videos I did a while back. Grinding the flat addresses the suction thingy.

3 pointsTrust me, we have all been there at one time or even more! Like the time at the big show when I sipped on a bottle of water which had gas in it. Stupid embarrassing moment since I put the gas in the water bottle but certainly funny to the other people who were watching! I'm just glad it wasn't caught on video! We should start a thread of "Embarrassing Moments" and bet it would fill up quick with replies. Don't worry about it, "time heals all wounds." and it's now part of your "15 minutes of fame" I'm on a quote roll!
-
3 pointsHuge sigh of relief here. Thanks John and Richard. The flywheel always went on easily by hand in the past but now I was really worried that I had irreparably damaged the engine. Hopefully less embarrassing video to follow shortly.
-
3 pointsI personally do not like the look .But hey that is just me. There is place for every thing. That is why these are so much fun you can do what ever your imagination comes up with.
-
3 pointsYea but wheel horse tractors are way better then Harley's!! Lol
-
3 pointsGives the small tractor the "BIG" tractor look....and it sounds cool.
-
2 pointsThat's good news you are feeling better!!!!!!!!! And I see Mike's "waiting for the bus" pic was posted again so here's another comic strip

2 pointsWell I couldn't believe how much money they charge for a new muffler costs. Like $400 ish for some reason so I figured I would patch the one I have. Here it is pulled off the motor ready to cut open I cut the hole out of the muffler with some good margins. I used a grinder with a cut of wheel. Worked well then I cleaned the muffler out one of the baffles was broken. One of the local muffler shops left me dig threw there scrap pile and I found a 1 ft piece of 4 inch exhaust pipe perfect. I cut out about 1/3 of it and welded over the hole in cut. My welder was kinda big for what I was doing with it but it worked. Then here it is bolted back on the engine good as new. Started it up sounds good I didn't see any leaks or anything I took it outside when it was cold thinking I could see the leaks better. Coming along nicely

2 pointsIf its still For Sale at the Big Show I will be amazed. If I did not already have one it would be in my garage. It looks very clean and well cared for !! Someone is going to get a nice tractor. With only 46 on the registry were do you think the rest are ? My guess is they were scrapped years ago, to be able to own 1 of less then 50 tractors known to still be around, Priceless. These don't come around often. Just my $.02 Ron Greco / big-game

2 pointsHello. as promised heres a nice update for you. I got the hubs painted in red. Im quite happy with how they turned out. got the gearbox bolted on When they were cured i put them on the gearbox using my newly cleaned bolts That is all for the gearbox side. up next, front end. I thought it was fitting since the gearbox was on to get the engine mounted up Then i had got the pulleys on the correct item. big pulley on the engine, small pulley on the gearbox. excitement intensifies I have also cleaned up and painted the front hubs they are cured so may put them on tonight. I did clean a few more items up but not much to photograph. Many thanks James

2 pointsthere's a little id plate on the third photo, just under the dash. clean that up and post the number that's on there and it'll be a whole damn easier
-
2 pointsSomehow I knew you would be here to comment on that! You better behave or I'll link up that cartoon again for waiting for the bus!
-
2 pointsThese photos of the right and left side of the RJ Wheel Horse clutch and idler arm with pulley (with belt cover still on) may help you. The idler arm pulley is 2 inches wide!

2 pointsI bought the same carburetor for my C165 and have no issues with it other than I had to adjust the needle and seat because too much fuel was coming in and flooding out the carb. But, it starts easy and runs great. I also bought on for a M12 on my 312-8 and had nothing but good luck with it.
-
2 pointsThe 5025 has a 11/16" pin. It is .155" (5/32" is fine) in diameter. The later models with the deeper neutral detent in the rails used a 3/4" long pin. You can use the shorter pin with any rails but the longer pin can only be used with the shift rails with the deeper neutral detent.
-
2 pointsSometimes it is just because you can get one for 30 bucks vs 80 for the oem and it looks cool is a plus. That's how my 310 got one.
-
2 pointsExhaust right at face level and the ability to snag tree branches...Yeah right...sign me up...not!!!
-
2 pointsYea most of the time I don't usually care for it but my 856 has one(the way I bought it) and between the stack, ags, tri bars, non original paint here and there I just call it my lil farmer so I will keep the stack til it gets restored...

2 points5-2-1960 Dick Clark survives the Payola scandal He’s been called America’s Oldest Living Teenager, but behind his famously boyish demeanor, Clark was a razor-sharp businessman—sharp enough to be accused of questionable practices during the early years of rock and roll, yet smart enough to set those practices aside when public scrutiny demanded it. On April 2, 1960, Dick Clark concluded his second day of testimony in the so-called Payola hearings—testimony that both saved and altered the course of his career. If Alan Freed, the disk jockey who gave rock and roll its name, was Payola’s biggest casualty, then Dick Clark was its most famous survivor. It may be difficult for those who first encountered Dick Clark in his TV Bloops and Blunders days to understand the power he once wielded from his platform on American Bandstand, but it was great enough in the late 1950s to make a star out of nearly anyone he chose, from Connie Francis to Fabian. It was also great enough to attract the attention of the House Committee on Legislative Oversight—the congressional subcommittee investigating the Payola scandal. At the Payola hearings, Clark would testify to holding an ownership stake in a total of 33 different record labels, distributors and manufacturers that all profited handsomely from the rise of Clark-anointed stars like Danny and the Juniors and Frankie Avalon. One of the companies in which Clark had a financial interest was Jamie Records, the label that made Duane Eddy famous and returned a tidy profit of $31,700 to Clark on an initial $125 investment. “Believe me this is not as unusual as it may seem,” Clark told the Payola committee. “I think the crime I have committed, if any, is that I made a great deal of money in a short time on little investment. But that is the record business.” More important than any denials issued by Dick Clark during his Payola testimony was the fact that over the preceding months, he had—at the direction of his network, ABC—divested himself of all of his ownership interest in music-related businesses and in the roughly 150 pop songs from which he earned royalties as a credited “songwriter.” This action, in combination, perhaps, with his good looks and famously ingratiating demeanor—the New York Times called the then-30-year-old Clark “smooth, slim and youthful on the witness stand”—led Congress to give Clark a pass while encouraging prosecution of the uncooperative Alan Freed. “Obviously you’re a fine young man,” is how committee the committee chairman, Representative Oren Harris (D-Arkansas), concluded the hearings held on this day in 1960. “I don’t think you’re the inventor of the system, I think you’re the product.”

2 pointsThanks everyone, appreciate all the good wishes. I had a great birthday; did a bit of gardening in the morning, watched the Xfinity race from Talladega on TV and my wife took me to my favorite restaurant for Hibachi Scallops with stir-fry veggies and fried rice. Had several good friends waiting at the restaurant when we arrived, a real fun group.

2 pointsI saw that too. I'd disagree though. Looks like a nice restoration, not original. Maybe he meant original as in "not a John Deere that was turned into a Wheel Horse"? Like, "original" Wheel Horse?
-
2 pointsHot tip: During assembly, put a light coat of lip balm on gaskets that might need to be reused in the future (carburetor, intake, etc). The gasket will be less likely to stick to the mating surfaces on the next disassembly.
-
2 pointsHere it is! All original engine bay omit the tune up kit! It's had 4 documented oil changes in it life and I resealed the motor and replaced a pushrod its good to go

1 pointI have a 520xi and I love it, but I would trade it plus some cash for a 523dxi. The diesel will use half the fuel and last twice as long.
