9 pointsI've been wanting to do this for a while. Skonk (1267) is my favorite puttin around tractor and I have all ready installed frt. and mid Tach-O-Matics. So now after fixing an oil breather leak, it's time to install the more plentiful std. deck. Just had to figure out how to lift it as the 1267 doesn't have the lift bar nor holes in the frame to install one. Used a chain and trunion from the rock shaft and drilled a hole in the deck bar to attach the chain. I do need to add a link or two.

8 pointsHad fun time , my cousin and I picked up a real nice 753 , a RJ59 that's totally took apart , and some more 702 parts before we even made it to Mentone . On our way down my uncle called and asked us if we came across a good deal on a tractor to pick one up for roller duty ( Yes I warned him , told him there like Lays potato chips, just can't have one) . Needless to say got a smoking deal on a 656 ( he told his dad he may have to go find his own ) the techy runs so sweet and shifts real nice . Thanks @stevasaurusfor the help today . It was fun meeting you and fellow members, even though the weather sucked . Thanks you guys for all the complaments on my trackchair , it's a beast . To top things off my cousin got the tractor (RJ59) that got me started( W.H.A . Wheel Horse addicted ) running and driving tonight ! No pics from the show but I do have a few of the of our herd minus my RJ58 . More pics to follow. Time to get dry and warm .

6 points5-1-1926 Ford factory workers get 40-hour week On this day in 1926, Ford Motor Company becomes one of the first companies in America to adopt a five-day, 40-hour week for workers in its automotive factories. The policy would be extended to Ford’s office workers the following August. Henry Ford’s Detroit-based automobile company had broken ground in its labor policies before. In early 1914, against a backdrop of widespread unemployment and increasing labor unrest, Ford announced that it would pay its male factory workers a minimum wage of $5 per eight-hour day, upped from a previous rate of $2.34 for nine hours (the policy was adopted for female workers in 1916). The news shocked many in the industry–at the time, $5 per day was nearly double what the average auto worker made–but turned out to be a stroke of brilliance, immediately boosting productivity along the assembly line and building a sense of company loyalty and pride among Ford’s workers. The decision to reduce the workweek from six to five days had originally been made in 1922. According to an article published in The New York Times that March, Edsel Ford, Henry’s son and the company’s president, explained that “Every man needs more than one day a week for rest and recreation….The Ford Company always has sought to promote [an] ideal home life for its employees. We believe that in order to live properly every man should have more time to spend with his family.” Henry Ford said of the decision: “It is high time to rid ourselves of the notion that leisure for workmen is either ‘lost time’ or a class privilege.” At Ford’s own admission, however, the five-day workweek was also instituted in order to increase productivity: Though workers’ time on the job had decreased, they were expected to expend more effort while they were there. Manufacturers all over the country, and the world, soon followed Ford’s lead, and the Monday-to-Friday workweek became standard practice.

5 pointsNope, not going to fry a magneto that way as that's what that kill wire does. It grounds it to stop the spark for shutting down the engine. That kill wire and the points wire probably end up at the same connection under the flywheel. You should probably just replace those wires since you should pull the flywheel again to check for other cracks or breaks in the insulation along the entire length of both wires. One or both could be grounding to plate where they pass through it to go the coil. And as hard as you seem to drive them around the shrubs, might as well attach that support to the bottom of that air cleaner before that breaks too!

4 pointsWhat a Smarty Pants! I'm sure you're curious why I have a big honkin door on the floor. It is going to be bolted onto a Harbor Freight motorcycle lift table so a tractor will safely fit . No balancin act's for me! I'm just leaving it on the floor so I get used to tripping over it once I get the lift.

4 pointsI would stay away from anything that is shinny as it is very slippery when wet, especially on the fold down door. At the show two years ago one of the kids lost his footing when the ramp was wet and hit his head really hard. I ended up repainting it with a sandy mix of paint and sand. IMO looks should not be chosen over safety.

4 pointsAnother great show, rain and all . . . parking lot was fuller/larger than last year, light rain started about 11am then slowly heavier into the afternoon, looks like Chuck and I were about the last two to leave about 2pm, while the hosts were cleaning up. Met lots of first-timers, including Steve ztnoo, and a bunch of young-new Wheel Horse teenagers who seemed really serious about learning about these tractors -- nice to see that. Maybe fewer trailer-loads of parts than last year were here to sell, due to the forecast, but the forecast right now for Mentone in September if really great weather, see you there . . . I didn't get any photos either. Glen

3 pointsHi guys I was going to work last Monday and the town I go through was having trash pick up days soon I guess. Someone actually was throwing what appeared to be a Wheel Horse 312-8 by quick look by!! SHOOT!! I got to work and told the co-worker in charge that day. She said I could go get it with pick up but we had no ramps or anything. The box truck I drive was perfect with 26' box and huge lift gate!! She would not allow me to use! Was hoping to get dad to come down, called him while I left for delivery and was going past it. Planned on looking at it and telling dad if he needed air compressor and some one claimed it. Pushed it away from road. couple hours later when I returned it was gone SHOOT! Thought I would tell you guys this throw away culture we have even someone would throw away a Wheel-Horse. I did get two throw away tractors so far thanks to a friend and us being in right place at right time. Sure wish I could have gotten it, at glance it looks good shape too!

3 pointsOk some photos of the engine. Noticed some damage - insulation stripped - on both kill switch wire and lead to points. Could I have fried the magneto by shorting out engine with exposed wire on kill switch Oooops for got photos

3 pointsYou got a few to many stuffed in there Tom... better not get caught over crowding horses...better come get a few from ya... I did find my trailer I think Tom... he was just a tad higher than your man but by the time & gas to make the score it wouldda been the same & my guy threw in a brake controller. Nobody could beat Marvs prices.... now Just gotta figure out a way to pay for IT. Gonna do the bed liner & some e tracks

3 pointsThe rain made it hard to take many pictures, but I did take a couple. As usual, I didn't buy or sell anything, but you would not guess that by looking at my load going there and my load coming back. I did manage to get a shot of a few of the people that help me unload and load all of this stuff. Thanks guys. Got to give back all of Lane Ranger's 3 piece transmissions. Took a trip out to Smokin Joes last Thursday to pick up this Oddesy for Burly1. Here is my one shot taken at the show...some of the guys that really helped me out loading and unloading. Jake, Lonnie, John, Eric. Thank you guys. So here is all I brought back. I'm listing it so I have one place to look to figure out when and where it all goes in a couple of months and I will not forget anything. 1. 60" deck for Stevebo 2. one RJ/Suburban mower deck for R Wilson 3. pull behind disk for Smokin Joe 4. Suburban hood and steering wheel, shaft and gas tank for TerryM 5. RJ steering wheel for DClark 6. Kohler engine for Shynon 7. a transmission for Stevasaurus...compliments of Burly1 for hauling the cart for him. I think that is all. It was a great time and was excellent seeing my old friends...and getting to meet quite a few new ones. Ztnoo (Steve) it was a pleasure.

3 pointsSorry that there weren't any pictures. We either had our hands in our pockets trying to stay warm and dry or they were wrapped around a pulled pork or brat sandwich. You could tell that Scott, whfan 74 was raised in Michigan. He was wearing shorts.

3 pointsI have herculiner roll on truck bed liner on my floor, took 2 gallons for a 16ft enclosed trailer. e track on the floor, mine is used for storage and camping at the shows. Rougher texture can be swept out, sometimes use a vacuum. Oil drips cleaned up with some orange cleaner. Best picture I have.

2 pointsHi all, I was finally able to take a week off and lost myself in catching-up on the '80 C-125. I've had the engine sitting rebuilt on the bench - repaired the Hi/Lo last year - and was finally able to run her in last Tuesday after mounting. She only needed rings and a good valve lap. There is no end to the money that can be spent on a restoration or the amount of time in grinding, priming and painting with old Regal Red. At this rate, it will be summer before I'm done but it will have been worth the love. The 42" deck can use some minor welding but I had everything operational before I tore her down. Too much repair to list as this poor girl was buried in a southern backyard. Enjoy the pics - August last year after dragging it onto the trailer, this past Tuesday for break-in and just a few minutes ago. Back to work tomorrow so no more fun all day in the garage but should at least have the covers on when the Jacks belt and PTO brake order gets here later in the week.

2 points25hp 4000rpm governed modified class. 7 inch front pulley, 8.1 mph. Stock rear end, 56 hp. Kohler Command. This was a nice start to the year. Was getting sick of playing with different belts and pulleys. I think I got it now. VideoEditor1 (1).3gp

2 pointsWhile cutting my grass this afternoon I've arrived at setting 3 on the deck (42"RD) which is the level I will stay at unless we get a period of dry weather, if so I'll go back up to setting 4. (Takes about a month to get down to this level). Anyway the question that prodded in my brain was Does anyone actually use setting1..... Did put 1 and 2 on as way of poking fun at us or is it like the DEFCON count down where they hope it's use would never arise. How low do you go?

2 pointsI have been using these cub cadet style mufflers, I think they are not to loud, just have to cut off the mounting tab welded to the side. I am wondering how many tree's you will run into sitting on that seat. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

2 pointsNew wiring it is! And for those of you with a morbid sense of humour... the video. I warned you it was brief. At least the part you all want to see. rj35_rides_again.mov

2 pointsJust possible the copper wires are broken and the only thing holding the wires together is the insulation. Seen that happen all the time on cars and trucks at the dealership. Collisions are tough on wiring looms, even if it's a shrub related accident.

2 pointsI'm not familiar with those engines at all but if it runs fine then maybe just check the local hardware store for a regular screw the same size and thread count to stop the fuel from leaking. That certainly isn't the "correct" way to fix it but it may get you by until you can find the correct part or a reasonably priced replacement carb. Catching on fire is not good option so anything is better than nothing.
-
2 pointsDownload this document and click on "specifications" pg2-1 RPM should be set at 3600 Probably not a governor issue but like the others posted, most likely a problem the throttle lever having enough friction to hold tension against the governor spring.

2 pointsI had a camera with me, but didn't take any pics at the meet. Since I was a "first timer", I actually was too preoccupied meeting and talking with several WH gentlemen and making their acquaintance to remember to take pics. I think everyone there knew it was only a matter of time because of the foreboding forecast before it would spoil everyone's fun, so guys seemed to be a in mad scramble to trade and sell while the conditions allowed for it. By the time I remembered the camera, I was on the road and driving back into Mentone, and all I was left with for subject matter was the Mentone Egg. Hopefully that counts for something....... At the risk for forgetting anyone I did meet and inadvertently leaving out a name/username, I'll simply say a sincere thank you to all the guys I did meet and your warm and friendly response to me. It was a real pleasure!

2 pointsMy co-worker is cool and she likes to recycle like us. She does crafts and such, so old tables and such. She was afraid of getting in trouble I bet with box truck. It has GPS tracking on it. I just hope a scrapper did not get it!
-
2 pointsAt least you tried... It is sad that they wouldn't at least try the freebie section of CL...What a waste.
-
2 pointsNot an expert but have changed a couple similar. There should be friction material on the disc that's fastened to the crank. The part in pic should be metal only and flat. So worn but should be useable. It's like car brakes. Once you wear off the material and start losing friction and have to add leverage to manual PTO, You're friction was the rivets that held the friction material. Once you see rivets it's time to replace. Like automotive brakes, it's ideal when you replace the material, if it's flat to flat mating surface. but if you have to replace the friction disc, then it will wear to same profile eventually.

2 pointsI wish the weather was better for us. I would have stayed longer. We should maybe start a little get together amongst ourselves this summer. It was a pleasure meeting everyone, I hope everyone got what they were looking for and made it home ok.

2 pointsGreat turnout today! Got to meet up with stevasaurus, ztnoo, Glen Pettit and others for a bit. Picked up a few goodies for the latest project and really enjoyed myself. Down side was the rain but that's just part of it and the risk we take. Looking forward to the fall meet! Thanks to all who put this together.

2 pointsOur Annual equipment auction was today and some decent pieces there. I just couldnt stick around. It will be hours before they get to this. They were selling all the small stuff first. Very big turn out this year. Would love to know what the anniversary 520 brings. 400 hours. But it is searching. Probably the ethanol gas.

2 pointsRedRanger Sorry we didn't meet. Time just kinda got short quickly when the rain started. I did meet some of the guys and had some very nice discussions. Several guys approached me on their own, because of previous ID info I posted and I'm very appreciative of their outgoing, friendly nature. Seems like a great bunch of people. I saw lots of stuff I'd never viewed before, including a D250.......what a beast of a machine. I got there about 7:20, but left a little after 11 am, because it was beginning to rain harder all the time, with no let up in sight according to the forecast. I'm not a big fan of standing around getting wet, with the temp in the low 40's, and a strong, constant, east wind in an open exposed field. I then stopped by a friend's lake home at Beaver Dam Lake about 12 miles S.E. of Mentone . I sold them a cottage three years ago and hadn't been back since then. I also mooched lunch (not really....my arm was twisted to stay) along with the visit, so overall it was a good day, IMO. The only thing that was bad about it was the rain......it really sucked.......and ended up spoiling everyone's fun, way too early. Visibility on the road was not good at all going home with a steady 20-25 mph east wind, heavy rain, and very low cloud cover. Hope every one made it safely home. Maybe next time...... Regards, Steve p.s. Before I left town, I also got to view the world famous Mentone Egg. I'd never seen that before. Unique to say the least.

1 pointI once used #1 setting to blow a light snow fall off the driveway, worked great. Not enough to plow but was melting while temps were plunging; needed to get it off so it wouldn't freeze over night.

1 pointI ended up going with the D250. It is in amazing shape for its age. It starts right up and purs like a kitten. The deck had been completely gone through although he said the hydraulics to raise and lower are no longer there. So there is a rear pto but no hydraulic 3 point hitch either. Not sure if thats tied together. Ideally i'd like to set it up to have that so the deck raises and lowers. I havent mounted it yet because I need to remove the loader which I dont want to do yet. I was a little apprehensive since its much bigger than the "lawnmower with a loader" I wanted. But Im feeling better about it. For $2500 in its condition I think I'm doing ok. The steering is the only issue which he said is common. Had a lot of play however it doesnt like skip or anything. Of course with the loader and no power steering its not easy to turn. Hppefully thats better with the mower deck and no loader if I play on mowing with it. Any suggestions on how to fix the steering and how to set up the raising and lowering of the deck? Here are some pics, I go the wider wheels with it (which I have put on) and the weight box which we just took of to transport.
