6 pointsHonest Honey, this Horse I need. After this 520 I won't ever need another. Honest Honey. Oh but don't forget I still need a 416-8 in your garden. Then that is it. Honest Honey. Don't forget the 414-8, the snow plow will be great where you like to park. If it snows. Honest Babe. If the snow gets piled high, a D-200 with a front end loader will speed up that chore. Honest my Beauty!

6 pointsI've owned a 416-8 and a 520H but my late dad's '78 C-161 is my favorite. He babied that thing it's whole life and it's a blast. It's my work horse. I use it for everything but mowing.

5 pointsthe project time and task budget is tight so I am going to hope for best and plan for worst. Went ahead and rigged the foot pedal into a static foot rest. Easy to move forward with hydro foot control if time allows and easy to finish later if need be. Not the most eloquent fix but it clears the belt guard and will suffice.

5 points4-23-33 The Resurrection of Christ Many scholars believe that Christ died and rose from the dead again in AD 30. Even more prefer a date in AD 33, although champions of several other dates can also be found. If the events recorded in the gospels took place in AD 33, then this day, April 23, 33 is the probable date for Christ's resurrection. No other event like it has been recorded in history. The significance of the first Easter is breathtaking. In fact, the witness of the apostles and believers across the ages is that without the resurrection, there could be no Christianity. The cross of Christ makes no sense without his triumphant restoration to life. It was the resurrection which explained his death as a sacrifice for sins. It was the resurrection which vindicated his teaching: he was no liar. It is the resurrection that gives us hope of a new, eternal life: as Christ rose, so will we.

4 pointsHere's a picture of what it was like back when the show was only a few years old. Big difference in number of tractors and exhibitors in the infield from then David and GT 1848.bmp

4 pointsWell, I ahd my Cardioversion, which was successful. It took a week or so for it to be really noticible, but I'm getin back into the thick of it slow but sure. Working on the trailer nose right now, got a 30 inch CNC cut aluminum horse logo, today we got the 3/8" studs welded on the back, what a hassle that was, the pieces are 6061 grade aluminum, 1/4" thick, hard stuff!! The 3/8" bar stock I used to make the studs was 3032 crap, cause thats all I had. Just because you have two pieces of aluminum does NOT mean you can just weld them together!! We had to pre-heat the pieces, then slowly tack on the studs, or they would just melt away. But they are on, nice and sturdy. Hope to start assembling the seat pieces, oops, forgot to take a pic of those!! I'm gonna make the show if it kills me, ??!!! ps, this logo is now headed to the hydrocoater for a sweet carbon fibre skin!!!

4 pointsOne of my favorite, most useful 'tools' for working on horses has got to be 'Red Square' and it's sister site, 'My Old Machine'. so much knowledge and advice/assistance given freely by so many helpful people make the subscription fee more than worth the cost.

3 pointsSome of that stuff really works.I have not tried the seat repair stuff, but my father-in-law used a product called Shoe Goo on his worn out shoes and couldn't have been happier with the results. Some of the adhesives on the market these days are actually worth trying. I just put Gorilla tape on one of my 520H seats and of course I don't expect it to last very long but I have almost an entire roll of it left for the next repair.......

3 pointsI realized that I needed to modify the right side tread plate and belt guard due to the foot pedal I added for the eventual hydro control so since I am in a holding pattern waiting for the welding/fab fella to finish my rear fenders I tackled the modification today. Decided to take a couple extra pics for anyone considering adding Carlisles to the rear. It looks like height is same and width is a bit larger. You lose about a half inch of internal clearance from inner fender to inside edge of tire. First the mod. I basically copied the left side of tractor. Had to add a couple pieces and a fender that was in scrap heap since I am short a couple right now. If I don't get hydro control wrapped up before show, I will lock the pedal in place so it will temporarily be a foot rest.

3 pointsSorry not pics but I just finished putting a Predator twin on a C-175 hydro....did alot of measuring and pic taking then took the ole Series I Kohler off the shaker plate and noticed it had 2 adapters under the engine to raise it up....so I set the new twin on them and measured....it is only 1/2" low ...not low enough for me to worry about cause the belt guard lines up just right.....had to move the engine to the left and drill new holes in the shaker plate....engine shaft is 1"....WH drive pully is 1 1/8"....so a call to McMaster-Carr and ordered a split adapter (7 bucks) and an "off set key stock (1/4" X 5/16") and I can use the original WH engine pully....elec clutch from an ole WH has 1.0" bore so no problem there......cut the inlet port off of the HF muffler leaving about 3" stub...found out that a SS handicap rail fits right over the 3" stub with a tight fit (will weld later) and the 90 degree elbow allows for making twin upright stacks or mount parallel and run both pipes forward into the stock WH muffler....The WH throttle cable is perfect...no need to cut or move. The only interference is the WH hood has a slight inward angle on the bottom edge...straighten that edge and the hood fits tight but just right. So for 549 bucks and a 50 dollar C-175 I have a mean machine that sounds great with twin SS stacks....now to see how long the China engine lasts before it punches a hole in the block like the ole Series I Kohler?....(I do know that it will do the famous WH WHEELIEEEEE!!!!) Send me a pm if you want to know more about the swap....(now to find a couple Harley shortie mufflers and make neighbors go "AHHHHHHHH!

2 pointsHi to all. My journey with Wheel Horse began in 1976 when I was 33 and bought a house with a big yard. I purchased a new '76 B-100 8-speed with a 36" deck and a 38" pusher blade. At that time it set me back $1,775.00 out the door. It was a lot of money at the time, but I never looked back and it turned out to be one of the best purchases of my life. It has mowed more grass, brushhogged more weeds, plowed more snow, dozed more dirt and helped pull over more trees than I ever would have imagined. And all with just basic maintainance. It has never let me down. About 12 years ago I acquired a 42" snow blower for it. WOW what a difference between that and a blade. Wish I'd had the money for that in '76. That makes moving snow fun again. The more the better! About 2 years ago I thought maybe I should have another tractor for backup, you know, just in case. So a 1978 C-161 automatic with a 42" deck found me. I just wish the previous owner had taken better care of it, but it is coming around with a little tinkering and some TLC. Among many other things, it needed a muffler. Went the TSC route and got a pot to screw on the end of a pipe. Hated it!! Looked online-not a lot there. Last September a friend, who is a member of RS, and I decided to go to the Mentone show and check out the swap meet. We didn't have any luck with mufflers but we sure had a good time while there. Since then we have been working with a local exhaust manufacturer and have had a couple of original style mufflers made for our tractors. We plan on again attending the Mentone show at the end of this month and will bring along a muffler or two and see what others think of what we have come up with. Sorry for rambling on, but I am really looking forward to the Mentone show and it looks like the weather may cooperate. Anyway, glad to be here and have always enjoyed the knowledge and expertise that many of you have. Jim

2 pointsReally nice blower...looks like it was never used. May be because the side plate extensions are on backwards. This makes the blower very difficult to control. It will tend to pull away from the pass you have already made.

2 pointsI purchase, and keep on hand, various diameter thrust washers. I find the Teflon washers interesting. Going to stock some and try 'em out. Might have to find a Vic Tanny's and start curling weights just in case the Horses decide they don't want to turn. Right now the Stallions are behaving. I get excellent service (fast) and thrust washers here: http://qbcbearings.com/BuyRFQ/ThrustB_Washer_SL_SB_I.htm#

2 pointsLike @Professor1990 said, my 1055 was my first and will always have a place in my herd, but the 953s are my favorite, though I do like the GT-14 and the RJs are real nice and don't forget how well the 312-8 has served my needs! I just can't decide, I just love the RED ones.

2 pointsEver see one of these? Wheel Horse had Reo tags on some self-propelled snowblowers, too. 2.5 horsepower Tecumseh engine. It's on Harrisburg, PA CL.

2 pointsPerhaps Stevabearingsaurus or Stevathebearingguysaurus or Stevabearingbaronsaurus. But you didn't hear that here.
-
2 pointsI've just been a member here a month or so, but from reading and watching his videos I've already determined it to be possible that Stevasaurus's middle name is "Bearing".

2 pointsAnother Wheel Horse Addiction. Incurable. Dog out, coffee poured, check Craig's List. Just another day, our normal start of each day.

2 pointsDecided to steal hood off of Lazarus and see how it looks so far. I may may not get the foot control Hydro wrapped up by the big show but should have this puppy close to done. Close enough to bring and ride around on.

2 pointsAnd the rest of the story... Basically I filled oil with original dipstick installed, removed, install d new set up, then made mark on new stick at full mark. Then using old dipstick marked with low level mark. Tube is PFA Teflon tubing. Stainless compression to 3/4 NPT fittings. Used the punch to mount fitting in top of shield. I had to get creative on the brass female nut but it looks decent enough. Then marine grade red 3/4 inch red heat shrink. I did not like the look of the PFA and paint does not adhere. The dipstick itself is a aluminum Tee handle off eBay mated to brass rod from tractor supply. Drilled and pinned. Then potted or epoxied into stainless barbed fitting that was part of the compression fitting but repurposed. Then I filed the barbed edge down a bit. Plenty of hood clearance and I think it adds a nice custom touch. L
