Over the weekend I took a short trip to pick up another Wheel Horse. I have no clue what model and haven't tried to research it yet. It has a great running 10hp engine and the rest is in fair shape too, other than the mower deck, it's rough lol. This was also an impulse buy lol, I have way to many projects as it is and now I'm out of room to store it indoors. If anyone wants a project or parts let me know.

i work in the surface finishing industry. We do all types of blasting, vibratory and part surface finishing including powder coating. Most of our work is in the Ag industry as we are located in the Quad Cities close to JD, CAT, Case IH, etc.... Im not familiar with Eastwood equipment or powder, Nordson and Gema equipment is all we have used in production in the last 25 years or so. ( I have been there for nearly 16 years). We use all the major manufacturers for powder, PPG, Valspar, Rohm and Haas, Azko Nobel and many others....... Most of the guys on here that know me have seen how good a tractor can turn out with powder. Its all I use as i don't have any liquid equipment or like using rattle cans for anything that i can do with powder. There are critics here that don't like using powder on their tractors, either they don't like the 'industrial' type finish, don't have access to equipment or don't fully understand its characteristics or requirements for good results. Prep work is everything and will definitely make or break a long lasting job. Powder will never have the shine or smoothness of a well done wet spray finish, but if done correctly, (prep, good powder paint and equipment, proper cure for correct time and temp etc) it can perform very well in harsh environments and actually look half decent!! Anyone thats interested can search 'powder coating' on the forum or look at some of my posts and you can see some of the problems I've had to overcome and some of the good results as well

For those of you who suffer from relay issues with your 520's and other models I believe I have a more permanent solution for you. The relays used in the 520's are Hella 960 388-07. These are somewhat of an openstyle relay at the connector side. The connector is also open and can fill with debris, short out, and degrade to a non-working condition. You should be able to order the following part numbers to replace your relays and female connectors. Hella Weatherproof Skirted Relay: HL87411 Hella Weatherproof Female Connector w/12" pigtails: HL87173 Solder in the female connector to your current wiring and replace the non weatherproof relay with the weather proof relay and your back in business. Engine Harness: Clip the old harness connectors from your wiring harness. Go to Napa and buy yourself a 4 pin square trailer connector and a 6-Pin(You can get a 5 Pin) rectangular trailer connector for a total of $9-10. Solder in the connector wiring pigtails, shrink wrap, pack the connector full of dielectric grease and your ready to roll again. They are far better than the 9-Pin connector you can purchase as they are sealed connectors when your done. These items take a little time to solder in or you could use crimp connectors(recommend the shrink style connectors if your going to use them) and be in business in a little shorter time. This should help those of you who are using your tractors in this winter weather and help keep your electronics high and dry and your tractor running strong!! I also posted on another topic a while back regarding the fuse block issues. You can simply purchase sealed inline fuses and solder these into your current wiring, throw in the 15,25, & 30 amp fuses, throw away the open fuse block, and never worry about fuse issues again. Pics Attached for reference.

Sven invents the first motorized whiskey delivery vehicle. The Ponds take note of the ingenious handle design and model the earliest Walkaway prototype with the motto "If you drink, don't walk...accidents cause people". Mrs. Pond is not amused and puts an end to the plan...

Looks like it might be solar powered, that large flat panel is the solar collector and it drives a motor. I bet he could get an alternative fuel tax credit for that!

Got to plow some snow after work today. Not much, bout 5 inches at most. The cab sure does make a difference. 21 degrees and 30 MPH winds outside and the cab temp. stayed at 45. I'm liking it.I have no idea why its sideways.

I have a harbor freight powder coating gun. I swapped out to a different pressure regulator/dryer and haven't had any issues with it. I picked it up on a whim since it was an open box item. I also use a regular household oven from when we remodeled our kitchen. Someday I'd like to build a bigger oven for larger parts but haven't had the desire to do so yet. One of the first things I did was these BBS RS faces (three piece wheels so the faces can be separated from the lip and barrel). They're not perfect but it was fun to learn how to do. I have done quite a few different brake calipers/carriers/spindles for the different vehicles I have. Holds up way better then paint. It ends up taking me about the same amount of time to powder coat as it does to paint since I'm a bit more particular about making sure things are sand blasted and free of blasting material/grime etc.

Anyone else powder coating there parts? I don't think I will ever paint a small part again. Red Wagon from Eastwood looks darn close to me. Hope to move up to a bigger oven. I'd love to do the entire tractor in powder. There is nothing more frustrating then spending the time to strip parts, prime them, paint them, wait two weeks or more to have that part scratch or chip on install with minimal effort. It just never stands up. The paint even wore off the foot rest in about two weeks. No more. I can blast, prep, coat and bake a part and install it in an hour with no fear if that part chipping, scratching anytime in the near future. No brainer to me. Best decision I've made in awhile. Here is a picture of some engine parts in gloss black and some hitch/plow parts in red wagon. I purchased a nice HVLP gun through Eastwood to but haven't tried spraying real paint yet. I'm hooked on powder.

Its all about the prep as is any good paint job. I like the process a lot better then painting as patience is not one if my strongest attributes. So powder fits the bill better then paint does.

Don't all Horses go home? Their sense of direction is excellent. Without going back and re- reading your original post, think. Your Horse was "stolen." Great reason to acquire a replacement. Without a doubt. The new Stallion, resting peaceably, is awakened by an intruder, a lost Horse came home. Now they're a pair keeping each other company. I'm going to try your ploy on the lady of the house! Are we being truthful, "My Horse was stolen." Or, just a ruse to grab another Horsey?

Do you have the original pans? If they are the steel ones, you can get new covers and reupholster them. I don't think there are any new ones that are going to look like stock.

My daughter prefers the 520 H to the 416H, the steering is much easier. She has all but abandoned the Work Horse GT1600 I restored for her. She couldn't reach the clutch pedal at 5 so I bolted a piece of flat steel from the attachment lift to the clutch pedal, she had a blast shifting and driving carts around the yard helping out. Don't mind the fenders, it's an ongoing project that I plan on putting tall ags on the rear and some tri ribs in the front, adjusting their height and other sheet metal as necessary. Man I'd love to find a nice 520-8 like yours as a puller for my camper, the hydro screams when I move it. That makes 2 anniversary models that I have

I picked this up over the summer but just now am getting a chance to post it up. I always wanted a 520, found it on CL and drove 4 hours to get it. Got a great deal on it, at least I think I did. Got it home, serviced it up and has been great since. The deck, unfortunately, was toast and the tires are all rotten but I am getting ready to replace them, put a nice seat cover on the nasty seat. Steering is nice and tight, much easier than my 416 or my Workhorse. Only has 352 hours on the working meter. Hopefully I will be repainting it and putting new decals on it over spring.

The safe way is to back up the ramp, might get a crink in your neck looking over your shoulder, but won't do a back flip.

Ouch. One of the major problems with powder is finding reasonably priced small amounts available to the general public. We buy in 50 lb boxes and the cost is much less. I would say most powders (solid basic colors) run anywhere between $2.00 to $5.00 lb.

I have some updates and pics as well. I started pulling the motor apart today and it looks like its been pulled apart pretty recently. Everything looks newish. The only problem I have is the valves won't seat from carbon build up. Also looks like someone tried to make the intake port bigger. Well there's a kid in my class that builds and pulls garden tractors so he talked me into doing a small port and polish. He's doing it free of charge and also giving me a new carb. He also talked me into doing a wheelie bar...lol. So those will be some of the updates starting next week. I'll try to get as many pics as possible.

we were greeted in the hills of Northern UK with snow on sunday morning. C4 got it's first outing in the snow was a lot of fun towing my youngest on a sledge, need more grip on the front. 4WD helps but the turns are still big at full speed! The lawn did make a good racetrack though...
