15 pointsFive years ago today I was in my accident that put me in a wheel chair for the rest of my life who knew 25 mph in snow storm could change your life forever. Everything changed on that day , but I try not to let it hold me back . I need help with everything I do , from when I wake up , until I go to bed . I know longer can do things for myself including going the bathroom to eating ,showering or getting dressed . It's funny how you find out who your real friends and family are . But I don't think I would change anything , you just move forward in life and figure out how to do things differently . I would like to thank my wife for taking care of me ( and putting up with me for that matter ) 24hrs a day . I don't how she does it but as she says after 25 yrs and this year will be 20 years married for better or worse and sickness in health. I'm glad to of found my first horse and great bunch of people here on !!! Everyone here shares a passion( and compassion) with others . Hope to meet some of you this year at the big show . Hopefully I will have more than one to bring ( need to get the barn finished and the tractor projects done ).

7 pointsThe bad news... Mrs. K took a tumble this morning. She had just put something in the fridge and when she turned toward the table, the Crocs she were wearing didn't slide on the vinyl flooring and she fell. It has been 15 months since her back surgery and the healing has been going well up to this point. I was convinced she had probably broken some of the hardware loose in her back. So we took a road trip for x rays.. The good news.. All hardware is all intact and no cracks in the fused L3,4,and5. She is sore and will be on meds for a while. but all appears to be OK. Sure glad we sprang for the grade 8 lag bolts and rods. The Crocs have been removed from her shoe closet. Oh, BTW Bob, I guess this proves after 15 months of healing, you can once again do back flips off a horse .

7 pointsHope to make it in June . Forgot about the charger 10 . That makes 2 's and my other set of legs .

7 pointsI agree, you have a fantastic attitude and and even better wife! Having suffered through a major accident myself, I know that it isn't easy on our closest family and friends and it isn't easy on us to be cared for either. Keep the positive attitude, and hope to meet you in June.

6 pointsThat was a nice thing you did for the kids Ed, and if you want to tell us three times it`s OK with me. LOL

6 pointsI know this looks like a lawn mower, but it's really a boom box. Got it at a garage sale. Only bad thing, when you pull the cord, it just plays "Get your motor Runnin' , Head out on the highway, lookin' for adventure, in whatever comes my way. "

6 pointsThanks guys , this is just I was talking about . One big family . You don't know how bad I want to get on that RJ and go for a ride , or go in the barn and work on one . This horse fever I caught keeps my mind at ease . We need a emoji with a Wheel Horse symbol with a thermometer sticking out its mouth .

6 pointsYou have the right attitude. I worked 12 years for a company that built, sold and modified vehicles for people with disabilities. Your on the right track. Kudos to you. This journey hasn't been easy I know but your on the other side now. Your going to have an amazing year. Thanks for sharing.

6 pointsWow, that was a scare. I worry every time I move wrong that I have done damage, but a fall? That's scary. After 15 months and all that Titanium, that part of her back is the strongest area in her body. I was thinking about the back flip yesterday as I was walking past the trailer. Even after total fusion I will think twice about all of these wild stallions. Tell Mrs. K to take it easy, and throw out those dangerous Crocs. I finally convinced my wife to ditch hers when a similar thing happened to one of her co-workers. I'm glad all is well.

6 pointsDamn socks and sandals are killing my bunions... I'm gonna go in, change, and give them new clogs a try.
-
6 pointsWhat a scare that must've been...glad to hear her fall wasn't catastrophic. Reminds me...didn't someone else we know just get a new set of clogs too?
-
6 pointsGlad she is ok. I always raise heck with my wife for not wearing "real" shoes around the house!

5 pointsI had this old mule drive just sitting around and decided to cut it up and make a front hitch out of it. So far it is just tacked together to take home and check for fitment before welding it up and adding the actual receiver tube. Wheel horse front Tach-A-Matic measurements.pdf Wheel Horse measurements for front hitch.pdf Wheel horse parts list for front hitch.pdf I will keep you posted as work progresses. Cleat

5 pointsYou can enjoy life as much as anyone, just in a little different way. God bless you and you're family.
-
5 pointsHey, look at those lady feet. Those got high heels? For anyone else they would be pontoons!!
-
5 pointsThis might sound selfish, but my prayer is for me, not you. For me to be half of the person you and your wife are. God Bless You!
-
5 pointsAC. You and your wife are an inspiration for all of us. Hope to meet you both in June.
-
5 pointsGod bless you and your wonderful wife and friends that help you out. Prayers sent your way for you and your family. PS. That little tractor is a beauty.

4 pointsJust wanted to share my new tires on the blasted, primed and painted wheels. I opted for the big tractor look with large AG rear and tri rib fronts, this is going to look cool. Can't wait for warm weather to paint and reassemble my tractor. (67 Lawn Ranger) If anyone is looking for the front tires, I got them at Miller Tire but they are discontinued and they only have whats in stock to sell. Not sure if there will be a replacement.

4 pointsI'm not a transmission expert, but I put new seals on my 312-8 this past year. There was a little bit of fishing to get the old one's out from the outside, and then the new ones went in easily. Also members on here had suggested to me that before you just replace the axle seals, check if the axles have any movement up & down. & side to side which would indicate bearing/bushing wear. A tiny bit of movement (a few thousands) is OK, but if you have a 1/16 of movement the new seals wont last very long due to the worn bearings/bushings not supporting the shaft properly. .

4 pointsGod speed to you ACman. You, as am I, are blessed with a wonderful wife who cares for you. I wish you the very best of all things in life. Your strong will and attitude are truly amazing and inspirational. It's a pleasure to have you here.
-
4 pointsYou know, there are always people that have it better, and there are always people that have it worse. You are one of the people that have it better. It is going to be a pleasure to meet you at the show. It is all about the things that really matter in life.

4 pointsIts been 12-13 years (never really celebrated the anniversary), took up cigars about 7-8 years ago and quit them about two years ago. I wont lie, I miss them!! I enjoy the smell of smoke most of the time, just not the stale smell that lingers on a person. What I don't miss is the control they had over me. I don't miss the "need", the look of condemnation from non-smokers, and the cost (around $4.50 when I quit). At Christmas I turned down a cigar that I wanted, but I don't ever want the 'need' to have one again, so if that means none, then none it is. For those of you who want to quit, just do it. You'll probably fail the first, second, third time but keep trying, cold turkey is the best way in my opinion. I did try that drug Chantix (I think that's how its spelled). Spent $300 on it, and flushed probably $250 worth of it down the toilet - messed with my dreams something horrible. I've learned its like riding a bike, learning to walk, etc - you'll fail the first few times (took me 3+ months from the original date I said I would quit), but if you stick to it, you have to succeed.

4 pointsOne of my responsibilities before I retired from the Gov. was the safety supervisor for 32+ years. Had access to tons of safety data, hey it's the government, anyway you are far less likely to injure you self barefooted than you are wearing Croc's or flops. Glad she's alright. Hey, let's be careful out there! Chris from Florida.

4 pointsMachine looks real clean and well taken care of to me. Looks like it has the original seat on it with no cracks so that kinda tells me it was kept inside and the hours are probably correct. Looks like no rust either, another indication it was taken care of and kept inside. Bottom line, the guy is pretty much in line with what he is asking,...If you can dicker a little and get a few bucks off then swell but I wouldn't expect him to come very far down from his price. My guess is the first big snow you guys get its gonna get sold real fast.. Not to turn you away from Wheel Horse but if you can find a Power King with a loader on it in the same shape as the 520 for the same money.... I'd take a nice Power King with a loader on it ANY day over a 520 with a loader on it. I owned a very old (1958) Power King/ Economy tractor that had a loader on it and it was an absolute beast. I can remember the day I went to look at it, When I first saw it I thought man, this old girl is whooped. The old guy selling it said to me, Listen here sonny, this old girl ain't gonna let you down, she might be ugly but she aims to please, you can ride her hard all day long and has served me well for well over 30 yrs. I thought about it for a second and then I handed the old timer his money. I worked the HELL out of that thing and it never cried Uncle. None of the comforts of a 520 but it would out work a 520 with a loader on it EASILY. I wish I still had it... The fool I am.

3 pointsHey all. So I finally live in a place with some land, and thus I could really use a tractor. I came across this forum while scouring google for information and wow ... you guys have got it together big time! I think I found a good deal on a WH 520-H even though its a bit of a drive from me. They are asking for 2800 and it has a KwikWay loader on it. ~450 hours on it. I just want to make sure I end up with a good machine and don't get taken for a ride. (Ha ... puns ... I make them!) I have not seen it in person only in photos and those aren't trying to hide anything from what I can tell. They are including new agricultural tires, new 4 ply front tires, and a weight box. They mentioned the KwikWay having a 350 pound capacity? Also told me it has the 20 HP Onan engine, hydrostatic transmission, a swept forward axle, hydraulic lift, gas gauge, and full instrumentation. I am finding out if they have a mowing deck. They also mentioned having non-agricultural 4 ply tires for the rear and I think they only want $100 for them it seems. So my dilemmas ... Is it worth the money? Or is it a bit too much? If they don't have a mow deck how much will I be dropping on one? Is it really good for snow like they said? I have a lot of snow, dirt, and gravel to move around here so this seems ideal if they really do work well for it like they said they do. Should I bother with the $100 non-agricultural tires? Anything else I should know before I jump into this?

3 pointsWell, Mrs K and I are both grateful for all your good wishes. We really feel fortunate she will only suffer some temporary bruising, soreness and stiffness. Hoping some good will come from this incident, I will start a mini campaign to alert everyone to the dangers of wearing these CROCS. I addition to being sticky on vinyl flooring (causing this accident) I have also noticed they are very slippery on wet concrete and wood decking. One more positive came from the accident.... On the way home yesterday, I stopped at Rite Aid to pick up Mrs Ks meds and the toys were marked down 75%. So I left with my 2016 stash of Christmas toys for TOYS for TOTS. I was surprised to see all the STAR WARS toys. The manager said they got a back order after the holiday. I hope the craze lasts till next Christmas. Feeling fortunate....a scary start turned into a Great Day.

3 pointsEd , Glad your wife is Okay. My wife just had back surgery in November and I am constantly after her to watch her step. If I could just get her to wear her brace more things would be great.
-
3 pointsMy daughter used to run down the stairs with flip flops on. I told her if I saw it again, I would cut every pair in half. She mostly stopped doing it, but one day she fell, luckily on her butt and slid downstairs. Hurt her butt pretty badly, but nothing permanent. That finally taught her I wasn't just over protective, she learned her lesson. Glad your wife is OK, Ed. I worry every day my wife is going to fall again and re-break her knee. Dr told her if she does, it will be life changing.
-
3 pointsI'm glad to hear Nan is doing all right, Ed. It must have been a real scare! Reminds me of breaking my ankle last Summer. I have a tendency (inherited like my father) to walk on my heels. Consequently I wear the heels of my shoes at an angle. While working on the trailer in June with old, worn down shoes to get ready to stain the trailer floor (not to splatter on a decent pair), I lost traction with one and the other GRABBED. It was a 270 pound sack of potatoes falling! When I was able to wear shoes again, I went and bought four new pair. And ditched the old.

3 pointsHad a chance to move a little snow last weekend. Works well but it's gonna take some practice to get efficient. And a pic of my two old Fords side by side.

3 pointsA fashion statement like me shouldn't have to be subjected to manual labor; "I'm to sexy for my mower".
-
3 pointsHe can make his own western. I saw them and thought it was a cool gift, then saw the WH and Stevasaurus decals and thought wow, that is really cool! Did someone mention a dinosaur?
-
3 pointsThe 520H is a top of the line Wheel Horse. $2800 in my opinion is the upper end, but it's an excellent machine. Assuming it's in good condition, it will serve you well. That machine will take anywhere from 36" deck to 60" deck and the price for that will vary, but can be found pretty easily.
-
3 pointsGet some Dr Scholls for them first Let's not give him any ideas.....although THAT would be good pictures....
