But formariz and you other members here that handle this, that work with this, or even have this,,, my heartfelt thanks for opening my eyes to the many ways my family has been blessed with Gods graces. Thanks and may His strength and light shine on all of you.

8 pointsNever give up hope Cas, miracles can happen. It will be 11 years tomorrow since my young wife sustained a brain injury in a car accident. Sometimes I feel that nothing I can do will make things better. And then a smile, or a squeeze of my hand will remind me to stop feeling sorry for us both, will remind me that I promised to care for her in sickness and in health, will remind me that maybe, just maybe things will get better if we dont give up. Dont give up Mate.

7 pointsThe problem with that is that thinning latex paint completely destroys it, by the time you got it thin enough, it would be worthless, More than that, some latex paints are more dangerous to spray than epoxy's, as they can coat the lungs and it will not break down. You can use an airless sprayer, but you need a good one with the right tip orifice for the product. What ever you do wear more than a particle mask, at least a charcoal filter mask if its a semigloss or gloss latex

7 pointsYou guys that stick with your spouse or partner through thick and thin have the utmost respect from me. I have never been through what some of you deal with on a daily basis, but i can tell you I love my wife very much and i hope and pray that i would always have enough guts and glory to be there for her if something ever did happen. I know that she would be there for me if it was reversed. I whole heartedly agree with Mike about the caring for in sickness and in health, its what we all signed up for when the vows were exchanged. Prayers go out to all of you........

6 pointsAfter finding all of my tractors had at least somewhat worn front axle pivot pins I decided to make new ones. I have made the new pins to use a 1/8" x 1-3/4" cotter key instead if the E-ring as I have no way to cut a slot for the E-ring. Front axle pin plans.pdf I used Stainless steel for the pins and will keep them well greased to hopefully prevent wear in the future. Cleat

5 pointsI want to thank my good friends Jeff (fireman) and Vin (Vins RJ) for stopping over an helping me get this 57' running that I got at the big show two years ago. We replaced the engine that was in it with a good running K91 that I bought there the same year. Both were sitting on the shelf for the past two years. IMG_2971.MOV Click on video at bottom. 5 pointsI don't think the biggest issue is whether you can or can't spray latex through a HVLP, but rather what type of HVLP gun you have, what type of air compressor you have, how familiar you are with the settings, and what type of paint it is. The learning curve on painting is just as steep as it is on carpentry or machine work, so being able to have a good amount of practice on scrap items would be a huge help. Most people are not going to spray paint like it was a plug and play device. This is what happened to the skilled workers in America, no one appreciated that anything was a skill and figured if some guy without a college education could do it, knowing an excel program would qualify me to build a house or garden tractor. much like a relationship, it takes the right equipment, the right product, and lots of practice.

4 pointsMy grandpa always had an Economy tractor as far back as I can remember. I've spent hundreds of hours mowing, riding, pulling, and working with that tractor. A couple engines and mower decks later and we still own it and my mom still has it. It gets regular use hauling brush and doing back up mowing for them. Cleaning out a closet today, I found an old photo album and in it where these pictures. Can you help me identify- narrow down- what model and year his Wheel Horse tractor was? It was long gone before my memory could grasp it. When I started bringing Wheel Horses home last year for some reason, my mom told me, "Your Grandpa always had Wheel horses." I've always like this style of Wheel Horse, but never could grasp why. Looks like it had the newer style Kohler and electric clutch? 10 or 12 hp I'd guess? Brown/woodgrain decals. Wider rear turf tires. Possibly a hydro??? Pictures would have been winter of 1973-1974 I believe. That's me on my orange sled. Spent hours riding that too! Here's a shot of Grandpa and me with his new Economy in the fall ot '74. He was always proud of his tractors.

4 pointsHey, I'm new to this forum as well as to wheel horses. Picked this up for free and know nothing about it, from what I've seen, it looks to be a 68? Was just wondering what year it is. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, the engine model would be nice, although I can look that up if I know the year I suppose. Need to find out what rod I need to get as this ones rod broke. Also, while I've got the engine apart, is that anything else I should do to it? Let me know if I need more pictures to find what year it is.

4 pointsI find, using one of these... will typically spray some paint pretty good.

4 pointsPlus, I think many here would rather keep their money in our community... you're doing some nice work there Cleat.

4 pointsI blew the photo up a bit more. I'm leaning toward a 12HP as the manuals here list the Charger 10's having Tech engines and the Charger 12's being Kohler. Looks Kohler to me and he didn't like Tech engines.

3 pointsWell, I haven’t been here often and for a while now. Life has just been not too kind to us lately. About three years ago my wife was diagnosed with the early onset of Parkinson’s and unfortunately this year it has taken a major leap for the worst. The typical early symptoms have now developed to major disabilities which is not only hard to understand and deal with but extremely heartbreaking to watch. To see a vibrant career and family woman, sharp, witty, and totally independent made a total prisoner of this disease at 57 is a terrible thing. Perhaps what makes it worse for her is the fact that she was so independent and active. She is not dealing well with this but then how could anyone do. It’s a constant struggle to try to help her with ordinary things in life that we all take for granted such as cutting a the food on your plate and even being able to hold a phone in your hand to see a photo of your grandchildren. Not that the helping is a struggle for me, but rather the struggle is to do it in a manner that I can still allow her to keep a sense of dignity and purpose in life, which is in a very fragile state at this point. It’s hard but I have come to the conclusion that it is not our place to ask why, but rather to deal with what is given to us the best we can, and enjoy every single minute of our lives, specially our family and friends while it is possible to do so, and not to worry or waste time with the so many meaningless things we all seem to be preoccupied with in today’s world.

3 pointsNice job on those pins. A thicker tab on the back will help things immensely. Another problem that contributes to the tab breakage is that once the tab has broken on the first pin, the pin can wiggle around in the holes in the frame and wear those holes. So even with a new pin the front hole in the frame is now oversize and allows the tab on the new pin to bend. On my 500 Special the front hole was worn oval by .050". How I fixed that it is this thread: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/7242-1968-500-special/?do=findComment&comment=67501

3 pointsNope not yet now that the holidays I will get on it I picked this unit up at a lawn and garden salvage yard and only traded some general parts and a couple mower decks and a few other items for the complete unit except for belt guard I think I got a real good deal I've been looking for one of these for a while but did not want to spend the money.

3 pointsWelcome to Red Square This is going to get interesting. What we really need is a vin sheet for the tractors that were made in the Belgium factory. We may have one on the site, but I can't seem to find it. What happened in the states is not always what happened in Belgium. For instance, your model # 1-0141 would be a B-80 made in 1975 here. Your engine is right for that, but you have an 8 speed transmission there, where here it would have a 4 speed #5084 transmission. In the states, the last Commando was 1972...model #1-0110...same engine you have with an 8 speed transmission #5085. That is what happens between the states and Belgium. We think it has something to do with parts availability for the most part. You have, for sure, a Commando 800 made in Belgium, if I had to venture a guess on the year...1975 Don't worry, someone here has a list of the model numbers produced in Belgium and I hope they will hop in here. That looks like a nice tractor, and you will love that K181S with the 8 speed trany. Pictures...get a Photobucket account, upload your pictures there...then click on the IMG code, click copy and then come into your thread and click paste. They will be right side up then. Have fun . I managed to turn your pictures right side up. WOW!! just caught a good look at that steering wheel...don't think I have ever seen one like that.

3 pointsYes this is a week spot on the Wheel Horse. The pin was designed to have plenty of grease so the axel would actually pivot on the pin. Most of the time the pin did not get greased or greased properly from when a tractor was new. The owners manual says grease it. First off not often enough and second manual says nothing about taking wieght off the pin so grease could be worked around it. It's not a easy location to get to I am sure it got over looked. The pin gets dry and instead of axel pivoting on the pin. It sticks and the pin trys to rotate causing the tab to weaken and break. That is a high wear, load bearing point on the tractor, especially if a FEL is used. It should of at the lease had grooved bushing in pressed in the axel. The way its designed, you just squirt some grease in there, it takes the path of lease resistance and comes out wherever giving the owner indication it's got grease. In all reality all that happen is just a small portion got grease. Then what happens is after a hour or so of operation the grease was squeezed out leaving more or less a dry pin. I am sure it was a production cost type of thing.

3 pointsYou must have some great memories of your Grandpa. Great photos, thanks for sharing.

3 pointsThanks Glenn. Many good memories spent with my Grandfather. He was a great man. Based on the way I was Eyeballing his Wheel Horse in that first picture, looks like I liked Wheel Horses from a very young age.

3 pointsI cant help on the ID of what model. but I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the pictures. thanks......... Glenn

3 pointsThat looks to be a real nice straight original tractor . I've seen many WD's , WD45's and can't recall seeing one with diamond tread tires . I also see you have a distributor instead of the normal mag . If your going to do a tune up try to use delco spark plugs , cap and rotor . Make sure to check the length of metal tab of rotor to the old one. I've had one that was longer and fire two cylinders at a time and took a long time to figure that one out . They make a repop of the rear red fender light . If your rear rims are not rusted through that's a real bonus . Don't know what the grill looks like but if we're mine I'd just clean it up and oil it down . Awesome find !

3 pointsThank you everyone for your support , encouragement and prayers . We never know what life is going to bring us tomorrow. Richard pretty much describes my feelings about this in a very simple sentence "Many of us have been care givers and and know how frustrating it can be to do all that you can, knowing it will never be enough".

3 pointsIts a Long Block again. Hope to get it set on the Tractor Saturday and then to start finishing it up. I wouldnt mind seeing this warm weather stick around a little longer so the garage stays warm.
-
3 pointsHere's some pictures, we went over to see it the other day and snapped a few. She's a proud owner! Before we move it, the radiator will need to be topped off and the tires aired up a bit. I should have tested the hydraulics but I don't have any reason to believe there is any issue.

2 pointsI just had a disturbing thought. I was planning to enjoy a frosty adult beverage, and watch the Packers and Vikings trade sacks en route to a 0-0 tie, but now that the game has been moved to Sunday night, It means...COSTAS!!!!! I would rather listen to Joe Buck trim Troy Aikman's toenails.

2 pointsWas tinkering with the k341 today...I ended up having to move it in my shop so I could get something else out the door and decided to see if it would start and it did. I was watching the fuel filter (one of those clear ones) go empty and not fill back up. I'm thinking there is some crap in the tank so I pulled the one off the tractor with the k181 (since it's down until parts arrive) to see if that solved the problem. Wouldn't you know it, fuel filter filled up with fuel, fired up the tractor and it never ran out of gas at the filter again. I ended up pulling the tank off and swapping it with the one I have on a D series parts tractor. I'll get the one with stuff in in cleaned and put back on eventually. I reinstalled the belt for the snow blower and went to work moving some snow. Worked great. Guess that's what happens when it doesn't run out of fuel. Boy do I feel like a fool now.

2 pointsI have sprayed latex through an HVLP sprayer with much success. You need the right tip, usually around 1.8 to 2.0, and thin the paint no more than 1/8 cup of water per quart. Thinning semi-gloss or gloss tends to reduce the shine factor. Check the instructions on the paint can as each manufacturer is different. I had three custom-made, intricate wooden screen doors that I needed to paint, so I fired up my HVLP system and sprayed away. Five years later the doors still look great and the paint is holding up well. Being a contractor, I have many times used airless sprayers for big jobs like walls and ceilings. No thinning is required. As with any indoor spray painting, be sure to have plenty of fresh air ventilation, and use a mask designed to filter vapors, not just odors.

2 pointsThe bucket looks really nice. CTC also included 2 sets of mounting ears. 1 set is blank and the other is drilled for 3/4" pins the same as they sell with their loaders. I'll have to fool around with the predrilled set. They just might work and would save me the trouble of drilling my own. I did some bucket comparison, and although the 48" CTC bucket is 8" wider, it's depth and height are less than the Kwikway by a bit. From my figures, the kwikway has an appx 7.5 cubic ft capacity and the CTC is 7.28 cubic ft. Close enough for me. I kind of like having the bucket a bit wider than the front axle track.
-
2 pointsSteve, one parts list shows a 3973 square seat. Another shows a round on the 701. Maybe they used both since that was a transition year??? Maybe the buyers choice like you said??? Few original seats have lived this long though. Interesting on the tranny plugs. That, the front axle and starter belt guard will tell a lot. But the serial number says a lot too. Then there's the hood.

2 pointsFormariz, may God give you the strength to carry on with assisting your wife through her illness. I know it's a difficult thing to do and you seem to be facing life head on and dealing with what comes your way. You and your wife and family will be in my prayers. God bless..
