8 pointsHere is one of my D 180's. I decided to paint this one black. Why? Just something different. After the winter I will paint the wheels. Soooo here's the Black D. Just waiting for snow.

6 pointsHoly crap! Mid mount grader! Duals! Tri-ribs! Hydraulics! Lights! I would NOT be tearing that down! Sweet!

5 pointsA couple of days ago I loaded the tires on my C-160 because I am going to use it this year as one (of 2) of my snow plow machines. I had bought a valve that screws onto the tire valve stem and a garden hose attaches to the other end. This valve has a "burp" valve on it, because as you pump the fluid into the tires air also is present. The pump I used was from an old travel trailer water system and had an automatic shut off at 30 PSI....another reason for the burp valve. I used up my last bit of windshield washer fluid on this project. I know everyone (me included) likes to see pictures, so here they are!

4 pointsMost of my deck hitches are badly worn so I decided to make a couple. These are for my 42" and 48" decks. 60" is completely different. They are just tacked together now to check for fitment, I will take them back to work for final welding and painting. I have drawn up the plans, I will scan them and post as well. Cleat

4 pointsWhen Bob Maynard hops on the hooby dooby train, you know he is starting to feel better. That is good news. Seriously Paul...on the flip side, you need to see what you have there. Did the set screw point break off? Can you pull out what is there...by loosening the lock nut?? You can see what a dog point set screw looks like...let us know what you actually have there.

4 pointsFound this pic in Mom's old album and thought I'd share it with y'all. Not sure where to post this in the proper forum. Anyhow, I don't know a darn thing about the Pond Walkaways but this kinda looks like one maybe. Those are 2 of my uncles circa 1953.

4 pointsI cant see how bent your axle is, but if you look under any new trailer you will find that they build in a certain amount of bend in the axle. This is done so that when you load it up towards maximum weight, the axle runs straighter and tire wear is minimized because the wheels are now running 'vertical'. if the axle was straight (and the wheels vertical) when unladen and you loaded that sucker up to max, you would probably find that the wheels would be now running with a lot more camber (tilted in at top) and your tires would suffer with uneven wear.

4 pointsHere in Elgin we have a business called Elgin Spring. They straighten axles, rebuild leaf springs, do front ends, etc. You have to have a place like that around you. We also have a few places that just deal with trailers and hitches. These guys would probably want to put in a new axle. Don't know what kind of trailer you have there, but TSC does have new axles in their store.

3 pointsI got tired of the annoying start/stop bump I got from the movement in the receiver/slug when towing. I know these locks are available $30, but being a frugal DIY retiree, I made mine from a 5/8 hex bolt and two 5/8 nuts. Make sure the bolt has enough thread to complete the assembly. First, I welded a 5/8 nut to a flat bar. Then using the bar as a handle, insert the nut inside the slug. Then insert the bolt screwing it thru the nut and out thru the slugwall. Make sure you are using the correct hole in the slug. Lock the nut to the inside wall with another nut outside the slug. Then weld the bar to the slug and cut off the excess bar. Please do a better weld than this. Now, assemble the slug in the receiver, screw the 5/8 bolt thru the nut and out thru the receiver wall. Lock the slug and receiver together with a lock washer and 5/8 nut. No more movement when towing.

3 pointsIf you plan to watch the Tournament of Roses Parade tomorrow and receive RFDTV I would suggest enjoying their coverage. They have limited commercial interruption, don't do a lot of BS other than parade coverage and feature all of the equestrian units and bands. We have found this to be much more enjoyable than the big networks.

3 pointsGod that's a 55 gallon drum , how many windshields do you have to clean and how often.
-
3 pointsHow about posting a few pictures of what you got there. Did you just buy this trailer, hit something, lose something...something does not sound right. At this point, I am inclined to say to take it to a good trailer place and let them look at it. Reason: you do not want something to happen on the road...especially to somebody else who is sharing the road with you. This is one time you want to do things right.

3 pointsI just used a hand held mini-grinder (5") with a zipcut wheel to make the notch after drilling the 1/2" hole. For the other end of that same plate, I just drilled a 3/4" hole then cut right through the centerline of the hole to make it act like a saddle. All dimensions will be on the plans which will be uploaded soon. No special tools were used to make this, just a drill press, mini-grinder, and a welder. I do all measurements with a vernier caliper but a tape measure would work. Cleat

3 pointsDennis, I got a good chuckle out of your comment ..."I keep Kroil for my special occasions". I do exactly the same. Not only is the stuff pricey, it is difficult to find!. I bought a big spray can back in 2013 when I was restoring my C141. It was somewhere in the neighborhood of $24-26 back then. I still have it, but it is getting low now. My special occasions: getting the roll pin out of steering wheels, deck pulley removal, wheel hub removal, oh, and rear hitch pin removal of course.

3 pointsBy not using the Majic spray and by using the hardener, you are not in bad shape, the hardener will improve the gloss retention and durability CONSIDERABLY.

2 pointsThere is a dog point setscrew that fits into the little hole in that knuckle ball and the shifter floats on that. Lift up your shift boot to locate the lock nut and dog point set screw. It is a 1/8" allen wrench. Ah, Bob and I posted at the same time...Hi Bob.

2 pointsNice pics and video! Kinda like the freeways around here when it snows - 4 wheelers in the ditch from going to fast and 2 wheelers going along slow and easy on the road... good to see the 2 wd WH take its big sister out if the ditch!

2 pointsI have had a condenser act up like that before. But it kinda sounds like a dirty carb or stuck float
-
2 pointsNo apologies required. I have no idea what brand it is. I didn't take time to compare pics myself. After the fact, I realized I could have checked my copy of Straight From The Horses Mouth also! Just wanted to share and stir some conversation. Stay tuned, I found some old Wheel Horse pics in the old photo album too that I'll share later on.

2 pointsYea my vote is Simplicity it has the geared transmission(gear shift sticking up) and the controls look like Simplicity That is a Briggs engine Looks like the one I Have!! you can slightly see the kick stand just in front of the wheel and the slots on the front of the frame where the implements attach

2 pointsIn order for me to win the battle I drilled out the pin. I managed to step up the size (7/16" or 1/2" Maybe? ) until I got most of it out. Then I proceded to get a hacksaw blade in there and saw it in half from opposite sides. I kept liberally applying pb blaster and then I managed to get a chisel and pound the piece out. The only thing that you need to be careful of is not cutting too deep with the hack saw making noticeable marks because it is tough to see in there.

2 pointsI would check the keepers on the other valve too. You may have worn ones on that side also. I have never seen this before, makes me wonder what would cause this.
-
2 pointsPut some new ones in there and try it.It not like an overhead valve engine where the piston would have hit the valve. David

2 pointsGeorgia is upping the anti on licenses so they can reliably be used as ID for voting. It takes a visit if you have one of the 'old' ones. Good to know I have a lightened crankshaft. Yeah, will stay with conventional approach. I have a friend who ran one of those old car parts houses before the franchisers got in. Remember those places? Cylinder boring - no problem. His shed out back is a treasure trove of 'stuff'. We should be able to get that 301 bored and honed nicely. Thanks, all!

2 pointsJust an update. The frame is cleaned and painted and a few seals replaced, still waiting for one seal for the brake drum. I fitted the predator engine to the frame and lined it up. Looks like it is going to fit OK. The hood and sheet metal are still at the blasters. I still have some work to do on my engine mount. I am going to weld the engine bolts to the mounts from the bottom so I can just lift it off and drop it on. I used a 3" pulley on the new engine, looking for a bit more ground speed.
