My daughter was going through some pictures and found these from sometime around the late 80s early 90s. My brother who lived a couple blocks away used to do a big 4th of July at his place. I would start the smoking early in the morning then hook the smoker to the B-80, my first Wheel Horse, and pull it down to his house. Sold the B-80 with some others when I went through my first K12 Step program. Wish I has that one back. -Chris from Florida

Not a problem Brandon...this is what I was doing on paper...actually typing was easier and all can see. Enjoy...the games a foot. I have about 7 or 8 differences from the "Bobs"...so anybody can still win here. That great minds think alike thingy...that is BS. I have a great mind and they are not even close to me.

    633

I've started working on the 633 this just going to be for fun and functionality i'm not worrying about every little dent and ding but i did take the hood down to bare metal. also have a giant hole in the console buy the shiftier i'm thinking about going with exspantion metal to match the hood picked up a can of OD green paint going to paint the hood with it and see if i like it if not i will go back red. Also picked up this sweet old air compressor thinking about painting it up red and white and slapping sum wheel horse stickers on it.

I bought this D160 onan tractor for 500, it looked pretty bad, but after washing it it was way better than expected. It had a good Onan 16hp twin, rear PTO and wheel weights. I sold the engine for 350 (I only do single cylinder cast iron engines), the electric PTO clutch for 100, the mufflers for 45, and the front wheel weights for 115, so after gas money I have 40 dollars in the tractor, which is in really nice shape. The Kohler powered single cylinder D160 I bought earlier in the year needs some work on the rear axle bushing that requires splitting the case, so I decided to pull the engine off it and move it to the previously onan powered tractor. I finally got the engine swap finished and fired up the motor, it runs great, thanks Frank (bowtieguy), i am going with cast iron 4 bolt trailer hubs on the front and 4.00-10 tri-ribs and 4 hole steel rims, with 30x10-12 Interco Interforce tires on the wide rear wheel horse rims. I'll eventually fix the donor tractor, but I have evil plans for it, lol

Well, I haven’t been here often and for a while now. Life has just been not too kind to us lately. About three years ago my wife was diagnosed with the early onset of Parkinson’s and unfortunately this year it has taken a major leap for the worst. The typical early symptoms have now developed to major disabilities which is not only hard to understand and deal with but extremely heartbreaking to watch. To see a vibrant career and family woman, sharp, witty, and totally independent made a total prisoner of this disease at 57 is a terrible thing. Perhaps what makes it worse for her is the fact that she was so independent and active. She is not dealing well with this but then how could anyone do. It’s a constant struggle to try to help her with ordinary things in life that we all take for granted such as cutting a the food on your plate and even being able to hold a phone in your hand to see a photo of your grandchildren. Not that the helping is a struggle for me, but rather the struggle is to do it in a manner that I can still allow her to keep a sense of dignity and purpose in life, which is in a very fragile state at this point. It’s hard but I have come to the conclusion that it is not our place to ask why, but rather to deal with what is given to us the best we can, and enjoy every single minute of our lives, specially our family and friends while it is possible to do so, and not to worry or waste time with the so many meaningless things we all seem to be preoccupied with in today’s world.

The basic concept is to develop a comprehensive data base on as many Wheel Horse tractors, mowers and attachments as we can. These will include links to photos and manuals along with photos and data from reliable sources. There will be information on changes that took place during a production run and easy ways of identifying various models. We all have a model or implement we are very familiar with, pick out one you know a great deal about and use the existing wiki files as a guide and write one up. If there is an issue that needs clarification or additional information other members can make comments. This will be a great resource for all of us and will only be worthwhile if we have a lot of participation. We have a lot of cold winter days ahead of us so we can all begin "populating our wiki.

Some of the "Genuine Kohler " stuff is made where the "No- Genuine " stuff is. I doubt Kohler makes it's own points. They get them from a vendor and $$$$ Talks.

We have had those on our fire trucks for years. Also on local school busses and ambulances. An air cylinder pushes the wheel with chains onto the tire...the spinning of the tire slings the short lengths of chain under the tire. They are good for starting you vehicle moving then release the cylinder to get them into road position. They are much good for stopping though.

Norm Steinman sold his business. But you can contact and the new owner is suppyling some of the HY 2 spings. They are remade to order but work sjust like original. 953Nut tells me this is the new name and owner's telephone number. JC's Farm and Garden Supply. (219-299-4708) Give John a call. I sell the Oil Seal for the 1/2 shaft that the drive pulley runs on. It goes around the shaft under the pulley. You can email me at laneranger104@gmai.com if you are interested in an oil seal.

The spring for the HY-2 is part #4837 and can be purchased from JC's Farm and Garden Supply (219) 229-4708. The "O" rings should all be standard industrial supply items available at NAPA or any good industrial supply house.

Might sound nuts but I use my wood splitter to break the beads on mounted tires.Heavy block of wood on the wedge and the push block close to the rim.If you are careful it works like a charm.Luck,JAinVA

That is a beautiful tractor As far as powder coating, there is a facility here where I live that does all Harley-Davidson's powder coated pieces. A friend of mine works there and did some parts for me. I agree that if it's done right, you should have zero issues. I found that PC is best on things that are multi-surfaced (not flat) because the PC gets EVERYWHERE and bakes on to a smooth finish. I had some motorcycle wheels done in a candy coat and they were outstanding. For tractor parts I found you can get very good results with regular paint. Some guys here even ramp it up to automotive paint and hardeners for some beautiful finishes. This tractor is wet-sanded and buffed Rustoleum (including the engine shrouds). The finish came out great with some work. The only thing I'll say is they tend to be a little more delicate for chipping than auto finishes, but they are very easy to touch up. The wheels on this were initially powder coated, but I wasn't happy with the lack of gloss, so I sanded them off and painted them

When you follow an ambulance, fire truck and some fuel oil trucks in our area you'll see them. They have been around for years, but are kind of cool. When you first look at them you think how the heck is that gonna work

I have a A100 here in the UK, it came to me in a job lot of Wheelhorse's and I think its a nice little tractor. it needs fixing up and will get to it when the weather warms up a bit. I also have a A90 which is almost the same I think but I converted that to run on tracks

I'm not sure if the issue is Chrome itself is insecure, or if it is all the extensions that are insecure, but every infected PC I see has Chrome on it, and 90% of those have infected files in the Chrome folder. I don't trust it. And I don't recommend extensions or add ons for any browser, including toolbars. Most toolbars are malware themselves, Ask toolbar in particular is nasty. Google Earth is a different story, I don't trust it either Google maps is different, you are safe there.

It sounds like the seat switch. The seat switch completes the circuit with the pto engaged in the full on position. This is to shut down the tractor if the operator is no longer in the seat with an attachment engaged,

As I said in my pm, it was the first tractor/vehicle I ever had, I learnt to drive on it before I was big enough to reach the pedal, and I'd love to get it back for nostalgia reasons, I shouldn't have sold it in the first place but at 16 motorbikes seem more fun! I'd like to have it back so I can get it to shows again, alongside the little factory truck dad has restored for himself, and of course to use it

Could owners of models 701 and 702 with what they believe to be an original engine post their engine numbers? Toro lists both as using Kohler K161S-28622E which I doubt is correct. The 701 used two starter-generator belts and the 702 used a single belt. That should have generated a different spec number. It has been said the 701 did not have a compression release and the 702 did. Garry

Same for McMaster ---- I had a horse with the solid rods that had really bad 'toe out' and of course there was no correcting it -- so I got the ends from McMaster and cut & threaded the fixed rods to accept the new ones and I now had adjustable toe in/toe out!! I've since started changing any horse I get to the adjustable tie rods, they all seem to have more toe out than is necessary which makes for hard steering (and our horses arent known for easy steering!!) so I can now add a bit of toe in and get a bit easier steering -- nice!

OK. Finally sort of figured it out. The manual is pretty useless. Part of the problem is that they identify parts using specific names that aren't intuitive. I had the parts manual so between looking at the exploded view, the owners manual and the tractor I figured it out. There is only one set screw but the manual says "set screws". I got it adjusted but its not perfect. Will give it another shot on a day when I have more patience. At least it doesn't creep in neutral anymore.

Powder coating gets a bad rap for no fault of its own. there is nothing wrong with the paint itself once you understand how it differs from regular paint. the biggest enemy for powder is sharp edges...... in fact in the industry i work in, powder passes salt spray testing way longer than any of the wet coat industrial paints available today. its all in the preparation. the metal needs to have a 'profile' for proper adhesion and edges need to be slightly rounded. prep is the key here and that goes for any paint.......

Well I found a way to get some seat time today After the rain we've had my quarter mile driveway got a bit soft so I took the plow tractor out and graded the center hump down and pushed it into the usual tire paths. Now it's a little flatter. That should help some when it does come time to actually plow snow. So, I got some seat time and got out of the house for awhile. The sun was shining, it's still 50 some degrees, what else was there to do with a house full of women yacking.

Many will disagree but either one will work. I have an L-107 purchased my my father in 1967. She is still in use and I use her year round (see avatar). 48 years running and no tranny issues. She has run 40wt oil the entire time. Changed about every 10 years Shifts nicely in the cold.......
