Quality Forums like this are few and far between. I belong to several Boating, Fishing and Hunting forums and can say this is the Crown Jewell. So much bickering and belittling on the others. Great bunch of People here!

That looks pretty good for laying around outside in an old metal pile. Your Dad is like mine was, he knew where everything was unless my Mom moved it...and sometimes she would move things just to make him mad.

Wow Dennis, those are some very deep and subjective questions. As to worth, value, and price, none of those can be quantified by anyone but you, well they can, but they won't mean diddly. First of all, the more optioned any tractor is the greater the worth. I would not buy a D series without a 3 point or rear PTO unless it was very, very cheap, the 3 points are 350 dollars on auction sites and the rear PTOs are running between 175-250. The 16hp single cylinder kohler powered and 18hp twin kohler powered were the fewest made, so as for value I believe these to be a premium. The twin onan powered while an excellant engine in the day will cost a fortune to rebuild, and it will need rebuilt, they all will someday, probably right after you buy it. By far most of the rear PTOs I see are on electric PTO D160 onan powered tractors, but you must decide whether or not you feel like shelling out 500-700 for a rear tiller before the rear PTO even matters. The 3 point and fast attachment options are a different story, as are other implements such as a blade that is for a D series only. I would rather spend 1000.00 for a decent D180 with a deck, 3 point, and front blade, than I would to spend 500.00 for one with just a deck, but I am in Oklahoma and every attachments comes from far away, but even so, the time it takes and the uncertainty of getting a decent attachment add into the equation. The PTOs and 3 points come up on auction sites and craigslist, but remember you also need the cylinder for the 3 point, the coupler, and double pulley for the PTO, often these are not included in the auction. Best bet is to buy a complete tractor with attachments and options now and save yourself a ton of headaches and sorrow later. I'm sure others can add to what I have said and even offer a different point of view.

Happiness is realizing that I am finished the first week of a 6 to 12 week rehabilitation from spine surgery, and it is going so much better than I would have ever imagined. With that said, I am headed to the walking park to log in some steps.

I want to share a story. A couple of weeks ago a fellow was looking for a WH part and I had what he needed. We agreed on a price shipped to his postal address. He sent the money a day before I sent the package. I don't think either one of us were worried about being ripped off. Well I received the payment and he received the part. After the buyer saw the cost of shipping, he sent me a PM stating he was going to send more money as the cost of shipping was more than that of the item he bought. I said that wasn't necessary, as we had agreed on the price and I was fine with it. A few days later I received another letter with some more money for the part. This transaction actually happened on another forum, but we both are here too. I just wanted to say how comfortable it is to deal with folks here (and some other places) because we share a common interest and feel a closeness to one another even if we have never met in person. A really big thank you to all my friends here at Red Square and another big thank you to the mods and folks that keep this forum up and running!

Just like Sparky just posted, the weather was great here today! I took the opportunity to clean up my mowing machines, put them back against the wall and move the snow removal machines to the front. I am a little more cramped than I would like to be for the winter so some will move out when a project is worked on and then moved back in at night. I didn't have to move everything out which was nice but had to reshuffle things so the recently acquired jet ski could be under cover. Thankfully it is only a single place trailer. Here are a few outside...... Now this seems to be the biggest problem for storage space, the toys! A couple of go carts, a kids 4 wheeler, and the jet ski. With a little Vaseline and an oversized shoe horn, everything is tucked in for a long winters nap..... Now this was the ultimate goal. To make sure I could get my Explorer in the other end of the barn so no scraping of windows this winter! Mission accomplished!!!

The last thing I needed to do was swap out the oil in the walk-behind....so I figured I would get the "crew" together for a photo-op after the oil swap. Both tractors have 48" blades, the 314 has a standard 3 sector and the GT1600 has a 5 sector. It was kinda weird working on snow equipment in 55 degree weather! I suppose that's better than trying to get em prepped in 30 degree weather!! Mike.....

Picked this one up in a store about 20 miles from me that I never knew existed, called Rustology ( http://rustologyantiques.com/index.html ) My wife spotted it on a shelf behind some crappy trinkets . Its a Delta lantern, I think its about 1950's vintage, they made this style since 1933 with subtle changes over the years. I managed to get the front light to work but the selector switch is froze up (some dope left the big ol' 6 volt battery in it and of course there was leakage !). Still in nice shape for being 60ish years old. Mike......

Well, the top four were as expected after yesterday. Ya know, it's easy to be disappointed with The Irish losing two games to #1 and #6, Iowa even more so losing just one but costing them a playoff berth, Ohio State again just one that cost them a chance at a playoff spot. But all three teams have nothing to be ashamed about as well as several other Big 10 teams. Look at the bright side, Iowa gets the Rose Bowl and a great opponent. Jim, you probably wanted the Rose Bowl but I have a hunch that Fiesta Bowl will probably sell at least half the seats . I'm happy as a squirrel in a nut house with the ND/OSU match up. NO SEC...NO CRIMINOLES

Craig, that is why we have so many in the stable,(in addition to the fact that we are addicted to them) the snow blade, chains and wheel weights stay on the 1055 year round and mowers stay on the 312-8 and one of the 953s.

We probably won't have any snow here until January or February, but if you have a lot of snow and some time on your hands try this.

I love my agri fab sweeper. pulls straight, off set to left or right or what ever you want. adjust up and down for top layer leaves or deep grass. And it was already painted to match the tractor.

Hello everyone! I just purchased my first Wheel Horse Charger 10 and it came with the snow plow attachment. My first ever horse, just needed something to plow my driveway. Unfortunately the hydraulic ram is missing, but I'll make due. It has the automatic transmission and seems to be cold blooded as the choke is disconnected/missing. It idles good once it warms up but bogs down when going faster and up a small incline, I suspect the fuel filter/carb and jets need cleaned. I have no idea what year it is, as the PO spray painted everything red. Needs some tinkering, but I need to tackle the fuel issue first. Anyhow, I plan to be an avid reader of this forum. I paid $320. Sean in Dayton

Thanks pacer, I have 2 D160 single cylinder kohler and love them, one I have with a 3 point and rear PTO, the other is outfitted as a mower. I still have a lot of work (money) on tires and getting some rear wheel weights, but I'm getting there.

ive had 6 ds the steering as already pointed out is a weak point something is always getting loose on it plus they don't turn very short but they are so ugly theyre cute ive liked all of the ones ive had getting ready to install a loader and power steering on a d 200 wont need 3 point or rear pto as far as value ive seen them go from free to $3500 just depending on what everyone agrees on

Tractorhogg did a great coverage of the D's and I can only add a couple comments. Re the PTO - be aware that it turns at a much higher rpm (2000 ??) as opposed to 540 for virtually all attachments except made for horses... A couple weak points - the steering is prone to problems. The Sundstrand drive is quite robust but with the age of these tractors if it is weak or non functioning they are a pill to repair. The twin Kohlers, again are VERY robust but if need overhaul parts are nearly extinct. I have 4 of the D's that I dearly LOVE- one of each, the D-200 doesnt have PTO or 3 point and the D-160 doesnt have PTO. I use the 3 points quite often. The D's are quite the beasties and I can turn out some work with one and the deck can cut almost like a bush hog!

Glad to see you are happy with it, I really didn't want to part with it but my wife said I had to sell one before I bought another one and I am looking at two now.

That was one of the best games I've watched this season. Even with the loss the doubters have been silenced. Whatever bowl game they go to they will be in my win column.

clean the carb, again and again till it runs right. Search carb cleaning or onan surging to find details and pictures of how to do the cleaning. Make sure all the holes are open.

John - They played one tough game. The way they played that game, I think the top 3 teams would have been held to some low scores. they will still get a great bowl pick. Don't be to upset John, Iowa did an amazing job this year! RC

Most likely that the carburetor needs cleaned. Check vacuum hoses. If that fails, check for intake manifold leaks between the two halves and all of the intake gaskets.

make certain the tachometer signal lead (grey, I believe) is on the left most AC terminal when the regulator is orientated as shown in the diagram below. NO SIGNAL will be received by the tach if the regulator connector is flipped over. The charge system will still function with the connector flipped but the tach will not.
