8 pointsI got myself a plow for this coming winter season. It wasn't pretty so I decided to clean it up and paint it. Then I decided to Pimp it out with an electric actuator for angling the blade. Works pretty nice now but we'll see if it can stand up to the potential beating it might see. IMG_1441.3gp

8 pointsIf this is a daughter and dad project then daughter rules! The more input she has on the project the warmer your relationship and the memories of it will be. GO Teal!
-
8 pointsAnd here is a great picture of Dad...he used to knock the stuffing out of me when I was bad.

7 pointsI can hardly wait for spring. When the temperature gets below my age I don`t want to leave the house.

6 pointsIf I had a daughter and she wanted it teal.... Teal it would be. I think she will always remember how happy you made her for painting it her favorite color, and you will always remember the smile on her face. What are you waitin for?
-
6 pointsTeal is kind of a BLUISH green though. I say go for it. Sounds like she has her reasons and it will only make her like that little tractor more. It can always be changed again. I've seen pink and purple and yellow Horses on this site. I only wish my daughter had the same interest in my hobbies. Enjoy the time spent with your daughter and give her what she likes on this one.

5 pointsMy daughter and myself are going to restore a 1960 suburban 400. We are not gonna go crazy with NOS and 100% correct. Just a sharp looking cool tractor. I am going to document the process on the forums because I know that you guys will be very instrumental with the whole process. We are in the process of gathering things we know will be needed. First day in at the store checking paint colors and she drops a bomb on me. She wants it TEAL and white. So I am looking for thoughts and comments and maybe with more than just my opinion she can be swayed to stick with the classic colors. The reason for her decision is it is her favorite color and all her horse tack and cowgirl boots are teal and she said she wants matching horses.Thank

5 pointsFirst two day weekend I've had in a long time & decided to spend that extra day in the garage working on a few Horse's. First I serviced & finished putting the 310-8/Kwik Way FEL tractor together. I rebuilt the carb, changed the points, plug, condenser, air filter...changed the oil in the engine & trans. New drive belt, clutch spring, checked to make sure the hub & pulleys were snug. Hung a set of wheel weights on it & fastened a counterweight to the hitch. Still have a few things to do yet (easy steer conversion), but pretty much ready to go to work. Also brought in a clean C-85, but non running that I picked up last week for cheap. I neglected it & let it sit outside this past week out in the back yard where it was covered in snow from Saturdays snowfall. My Argo came in handy for dragging it around to the front of the house where I could get it in the garage & start dethawing Checked all the fluids, changed the battery, added some fresh gas & it fired right up. I think I'll put my weighted rear tires on it & use it this winter as my snow pusher.

5 pointsHere is another option...see what you think about this. These are already the right color, and they are collectible also. Panzer , and now everybody is happy.

5 pointsWhen I was a kid we all had STP decals and rear air shocks on our '64 Chevy 2 door hard top Impalas. That stuff must have helped a little as hard as we used to run those old 327's we didn't blow 'em up too often...

3 pointsThat does confirm my suspicion that teal may not look so great. My littlest girl wants pink and yellow. I will fight that battle another day.

3 pointsMy C-105 is in the same category with being a "Go To" tractor. I still need to replace the fuel line that the mice/squirrels got to this past Summer. Scott's/Tom's hitch provided a nice little perch to munch away! I couldn't figure out why there appeared to be a puddle under the tractor, and why it was out of fuel!

2 pointsThanks guys!! Here are some close ups of the actuator. I had to cut the corner off the bracket closest to the blade to clear the spring
-
2 pointsThanks Ed I got the actuator from amazon, here is the link http://www.amazon.com/WINDYNATION-Actuator-Maximum-Mounting-Brackets/dp/B012EFMPRE/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1447244536&sr=8-9&keywords=linear+actuator+4+inch+stroke. Planning to control it with a momentary toggle switch similar to what did with the electric lift kit for manual tractors, amazon has let me down with that one though it was supposed to be here last Wednesday. The mounting turned out easier then I expected. I utilized the brackets that came with the actuator and only had to drill 1 new hole in the plow frame, which is the fixed end. The other end, the one that pivots, I utilized the existing hole on the top side of where the 1/2 rod of the original linkage used to attach. I used a 5/16 bolt with a series of washers and nuts to get it up high enough to clear when turned and used bronze washers on top and below the bracket to aid in the pivoting. Red the actuator is supposed to be able to withstand harsh conditions so I expect it to hold up fine in that regard. My concern is the fact that the actuator is whats going to hold the angle of the plow, I had to drop the lock pin. Its a nice feature because I now have infinite angle positioning instead of the 3 fixed positions but it started to creep into my head if there's potential of back-driving the actuator enough to break it? John it is pretty heavy duty for its size with over 300lb static force and I have a feeling with the way I mounted it utilizing the brackets it came with(which aren't heavy duty) that the brackets will fail before the actuator....hopefully at least Doug and everyone else I will take and post some close up photos of the actuator and mounting. I never seem to think of my forum thread making while im working so I never step back to take the photos that will help tell the story.

2 pointsWe'll see when Paul comes back with more information. It looks like an HD actuator similar to the ones on Johnny Bucket. They have a 1-1/8 shaft and should be as strong as a hydraulic cylinder of similar size.

2 pointsTold ya to RELAX Mike...actually defense looked pretty good.....AROD needs to sit down with his receivers and have a bowl of Wheaties and get on the same page.

2 pointsWheel horse is Boss for all the kids at school. She has a friend who is doing a Wheel Horse suburban puller tractor side by side with her. Great idea though
-
2 pointsThat one does have a nice original patina on it. Maybe find a different tractor that has already been painted???

2 pointshello men, first, thank you to all who took the time to reply. i really appreciate it. i was almost ready to fire up the torch and bend the spindle to my liking. i really hate to hack up things though. finally, i scrounged thru my parts stash and found yet another set of spindles. i swapped out the right side spindle and BINGO! now it was the same angle as the left side. the level confirmed this. the wheel looked "right" to my eye. i breathed a big sigh of relief. best regards mike in mass.

2 pointsOne thing to remember is the seals on sensors and the like were designed to keep out moisture and the occasional cleaning from a garden hose, WITHOUT the added pressure of a pressure washer. IMO if you need a pressure washer to clean any parts of your engine engine because it is that dirty then you have bigger problems, such as oil leaks that have collected all the dirt and crud you can imagine.. Open the hood on any of my vehicles and you will find that they are spot less. A little Simple Green or Purple Power if needed and the light pressure from a garden hose.. Who wants to listen to all that racket from a pressure washer anyway if not truly needed? Ya gotta fix the oil leaks when they show up.... Back in the day (in my young and dumb days) I brought a truck or two with a greasy ass mess under the hood to the local car wash to clean and let them deal with the mess. Thru the years I have learned that certain things just ain't right and that there are a lot of things that I regret doing... I also know that greasy engine cleaning at the car wash these days is seriously frowned upon, if they catch you making said mess you can be held accountable for the EPA clean-up...

2 pointsI'm looking for you wonderful folks here at to critic this new purchase. Tell me what you think it may need or what possibilities there are for it. I'm open to all suggestions and information. It seems to be in good shape, and mostly complete.

2 pointsWell, I had time to check the numbers today. The hood decals and the tractor ID plate both indicate it is a 1974 C-120 automatic M/N 1 0495 9 S/N 46433. This should be the same tractor as my other C-120 with the HH120 Tecumseh, but it has a Kohler. So I checked the engine numbers K-341S 71128A 4372428. The Kohler manual says this engine was made in 1972 and Wheel Horse first used it in 1975 in the C-160 automatic. Yep it's a 16HP thumper with a 10 bolt head. I found some yellow paint on the engine, but it was over the edges of the ID plate, so I suspect it was in a WH C-160 originally, then may have been repainted yellow for some reason and spent time in a Cub Cadet, then was transplanted into this C-120 and repainted red. Anyway I have a C-120 with a 16 horse Kohler that mows very well and tried to dig it's way to China when I chained it to a tree and turned it loose to check the tranny.

2 pointsI inherited two rifles from my very favorite Uncle after he past away in an auto accident in September. An old Spanish Mauser 98 with a sporterized stock chambered for 243 Win. The other is a 1950's Savage 99 in 308. I have shot both and knew that each gun was sighted in for my Uncle's poor eyesight and flinch. Each at 100 yards shot 7 inches low and 3 to 4 inches left. I dialed in the 243 in no time using 7 shells then put a three shot group in the black and called that guy done. But..........................I have a 788 Remington with a light weight maple stock in 308. I always thought it kicked hard. Nah! It has nothing on that Savage.I was able to put a three shot group in the black and also had two friends shoot it to confirm it was benched in and not flinched in to my characteristics and to have them tell me if they thought it was a mule. They each hit the black and both said it kicked harder than their Winchester short mags. I personally shot that bi*#h 10 times before letting it cool and throwing the three shot group in the target. 17 bucks for a box of shells! A gun that is zero on at 100 yards. A shoulder with an arm I can't lift over my head or straight out! I'm going to be real productive at work on Monday! Glad I'm not hunting bear this year. I have one week to heal!

2 pointsBob...mathematically Michigan has a shot...you need to just feel good about that. You know, as well as I do..."if you have dung in this hand and if in the other and you clap your hands"...well we all know what that does. The east is wide open right now, and I don't think John cares who Iowa plays. The 3 east teams have all the pressure...Iowa is just playing lowly Nebraska...I think...the most dangerous college football team in the nation....but what do I know...I am down there trying to get a beer and a doughnut out of Koen. Here is what I think....and this is crazy. 2 undefeateds left, Clemson and Iowa, sorry John...I just can't believe either one of these teams is going to run the gambit. More power to them if they do. Personally, I would like to see Iowa do it this year. Here is what is going to be totally crazy...If they both end up with 1 loss, you will have about 14 one loss teams to choose from for that final 4. I would not want to be Iowa in that situation...they are just not getting the respect yet. They need to go into the Big Ten championship game at 12 and 0...loosing to Nebraska will leave them at the mercy of the committee. If Michigan sneaks into the Big Ten Championship game...it means that Michigan St. and Ohio St. have 2 losses...I think we all know what that means. I don't really see Clemson getting in with out a loss. Iowa has the in road...they just have to keep winning. On a side note...Notre Dame used to have some really cool uniforms, and one of the best fight songs. What is with these pajamas that they are wearing on the field. I am expecting to see all the ????? from a Batman movie. :)

2 pointsHere is a few more picks...The 1st snow is always special. Took these today. BTW, the 702 did a very nice job clearing my new drive way. We got 9" of the white stuff...heavy and wet...lots of trees and power lines down. We did not have any ice on Saturday. Stupid geese are flying into tree branches and landing on the ice like it is still wet...what a riot. :)
