First two day weekend I've had in a long time & decided to spend that extra day in the garage working on a few Horse's. First I serviced & finished putting the 310-8/Kwik Way FEL tractor together. I rebuilt the carb, changed the points, plug, condenser, air filter...changed the oil in the engine & trans. New drive belt, clutch spring, checked to make sure the hub & pulleys were snug. Hung a set of wheel weights on it & fastened a counterweight to the hitch. Still have a few things to do yet (easy steer conversion), but pretty much ready to go to work. Also brought in a clean C-85, but non running that I picked up last week for cheap. I neglected it & let it sit outside this past week out in the back yard where it was covered in snow from Saturdays snowfall. My Argo came in handy for dragging it around to the front of the house where I could get it in the garage & start dethawing Checked all the fluids, changed the battery, added some fresh gas & it fired right up. I think I'll put my weighted rear tires on it & use it this winter as my snow pusher.

Just thought I'd post my new (used) 2000 314-8 I found at a local dealer, only has 215 hours, with a 42" RD deck in excellent shape. This makes the 5th one for my herd. Looking forward to mowing next year with this instead of my SK 482.

Look what I found on my trailer this morning ! Was that extendable foot rest a WH option? Found this in the truck bed. I did drive by Steve Farmers Auction last night after delivering some horses to their winter storage barn in Red Lion. It was after dark...maybe that's where it it jumped on .

Here is a few more picks...The 1st snow is always special. Took these today. BTW, the 702 did a very nice job clearing my new drive way. We got 9" of the white stuff...heavy and wet...lots of trees and power lines down. We did not have any ice on Saturday. Stupid geese are flying into tree branches and landing on the ice like it is still wet...what a riot. :)

I inherited two rifles from my very favorite Uncle after he past away in an auto accident in September. An old Spanish Mauser 98 with a sporterized stock chambered for 243 Win. The other is a 1950's Savage 99 in 308. I have shot both and knew that each gun was sighted in for my Uncle's poor eyesight and flinch. Each at 100 yards shot 7 inches low and 3 to 4 inches left. I dialed in the 243 in no time using 7 shells then put a three shot group in the black and called that guy done. But..........................I have a 788 Remington with a light weight maple stock in 308. I always thought it kicked hard. Nah! It has nothing on that Savage.I was able to put a three shot group in the black and also had two friends shoot it to confirm it was benched in and not flinched in to my characteristics and to have them tell me if they thought it was a mule. They each hit the black and both said it kicked harder than their Winchester short mags. I personally shot that bi*#h 10 times before letting it cool and throwing the three shot group in the target. 17 bucks for a box of shells! A gun that is zero on at 100 yards. A shoulder with an arm I can't lift over my head or straight out! I'm going to be real productive at work on Monday! Glad I'm not hunting bear this year. I have one week to heal!

Here is our "winter wonderland" and a couple pics of my hubby, Rich, putting the Honda powered 520H and the 44" two stage to good use. Very wet snow about 8" deep. I had trouble posting using Internet explorer. I switched to Google Chrome and posting was fine. Red

Thanks Brian! I'm guessing this is why it has the auxiliary feed bag: The tractor & mower deck are both 1994 and the blower is a 1993. 710 hours on the tractor and it needs some TLC ~ especially in the wiring department.

Bob...mathematically Michigan has a shot...you need to just feel good about that. You know, as well as I do..."if you have dung in this hand and if in the other and you clap your hands"...well we all know what that does. The east is wide open right now, and I don't think John cares who Iowa plays. The 3 east teams have all the pressure...Iowa is just playing lowly Nebraska...I think...the most dangerous college football team in the nation....but what do I know...I am down there trying to get a beer and a doughnut out of Koen. Here is what I think....and this is crazy. 2 undefeateds left, Clemson and Iowa, sorry John...I just can't believe either one of these teams is going to run the gambit. More power to them if they do. Personally, I would like to see Iowa do it this year. Here is what is going to be totally crazy...If they both end up with 1 loss, you will have about 14 one loss teams to choose from for that final 4. I would not want to be Iowa in that situation...they are just not getting the respect yet. They need to go into the Big Ten championship game at 12 and 0...loosing to Nebraska will leave them at the mercy of the committee. If Michigan sneaks into the Big Ten Championship game...it means that Michigan St. and Ohio St. have 2 losses...I think we all know what that means. I don't really see Clemson getting in with out a loss. Iowa has the in road...they just have to keep winning. On a side note...Notre Dame used to have some really cool uniforms, and one of the best fight songs. What is with these pajamas that they are wearing on the field. I am expecting to see all the ????? from a Batman movie. :)

Damnit! :^( I see I forgot to pick that game!!! Oh well sh*t happens I guess! In my mind I picked Em but oh well! On the Who Goes thing if Mich State wins next week they will play IOWA If They Loose And OSU Looses to Michigan then we Michigan are going to play Iowa. If MS Looses and Michigan looses to OSU then OSU will go.

I was told about this incoming 520H way back in early July by the owner of the dealership where it was to be traded-in. It took this long to get things worked out, but it all came together last Saturday.

I used a 3:1 mix of diesel fuel and Marvel Mystery Oil to free up a 12hp Kohler. Poured in about a half pint thru the spark plug hole, and soaked it for a few weeks. Then slowly worked it free with a breaker bar and socket on the fly wheel bolt. The engine is now running smoothly with no smoking, and I didn't have to pull the head. Worth a try, and should work if the engine is seized from just sitting unused (as opposed to overheating from low oil). Also, might want to drain the old oil, and see what comes out. Good luck. Jim

The trouble is the "new" Kohler points themselves are also junk!

Salvaged this Work Horse, sat in Leon Redbone's barn for 10 years. Added the 48" plow and height adjust. Came with a new, unused, 48" SD deck and mule drive. Total cost? $0.00! Paint, seat, lights. Ready for snow although we did try a bit of mowing and snow pushin' last year before detailing this Stallion. https://youtu.be/nGNyA9q4TkA

C-85 is a good horse can't beat the little Kohler for buzzing around on easy to work on and is great for plowing the little 8hp seems to start easy when cold if its dialed in good!

I pulled the top of the carb off as suggested and cleaned everything as best possible. It is varnished really bad and the needle on the floats is pretty bad. After draining the gas and adding a fresh gallon and putting it all back together it is running. Poorly, but running and not knocking. I pulled the carb and muffler today and will pull all the tins off the engine and clean everything up. I may have saved this one.

The HH60 is the motor I was looking for my 656 , at that price I would grab it and if you end up not wanting it let me know and I would like it for my tractor

NO RANT FROM ME THIS WEEK AGAIN...DA BEARS ARE WHO THEY ARE...I FEEL LIKE A CUBS FAN SAYING THIS..."DA BEARS WILL BE MEAN IN 2016" THE ABSOLUTE BEST THING THAT IS HAPPENING IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS...TROY AND JOY DOING THE PLAY BY PLAY FOR THE GREEN BAY GAMES. I AM WATCHING THE GAME WITH THE SOUND OFF, AND I CAN STILL HEAR THOSE IDIOTS NEVER SHUTTING UP. I THINK IT HAS TO DO A LOT WITH CHEESE. I WONDER IF THE 2 OF THOSE GUYS BOUGHT A CONDO ON THE FOX RIVER??

Slammer, Just a heads up....HH60's make nice replacements for the H60. But, an HH60 from a troy built tiller(like what you have pictured) is slightly different when it comes to the oil level in these engines. A few I've found, have a "slightly modified or different oil dipper and all of them I've seen have a different length dip stick because of the way these engines are mounted on the tillers. What I mean is on a troy built tiller , the engine mounts slightly back with the output side of the crank pointed more downward. Nothing wrong with that but looks like tecumseh did these changes to accommodate the design on these tillers. worth checking out....mostly though, you may need to just find a correct length dipstick if you choose to use this engine. I,ve taken many of these apart, so i'm just giving you my 2 cents. The dipsticks are numbered, but off the top of my head I can't remember what they are.

No vacuum, just ignition power, ground, and AC signal from the charge coil. Check all 3 connections on the gauge itself and the connection at the voltage regulator. Also the 9 pin engine connector may be bad as well. Cleat

Nice haul! It can't have to many hours on it. It still has the factory rubber foot rests on it. I have a 75 C-120 auto with a manual lift. I bought a 520H to replace it. I can't bring myself to sell it. The 12 h.p. Kohler has enough h.p. to do most jobs!

nice score Ed that's only about the 2 nd 75 C120 that I've seen with hydraulic lift, and I own the first one. I've been trying to decide if I want to part with mine or not. It comes in real handy with the solid bar in there for down pressure. i have some pictures in my gallery of it pushing dirt with both front wheel off the ground. what are your plans for it keep or move it down the line. what ever you do good luck eric j

I've got a bad boy with a 42" cut, I use for my mowing. It's been a fine machine, well built and solid. Good welded deck and it's held up real well. I service it every year. I've had probably 5 or 6 years now and no problems. It's got a Briggs 21hp professional engine and no problems with that, but I only mow less than an acre. I think it mows a lot better than the old Dixon I had. And it's fast and still yields a nice cut.

Great looking Tractor! Oh and as far as the rusty belt Guard. Get some CLR and a scotchbrite pad, the CLR will take most of the rust away n probably get some of the factory paint, shining through

414-8 0n the right now has a 48" blade, sold the 42" along with a Commando. Running out of room. Note: I keep blades off the floor, out of the drip, drip, melting snow 'n ice.

I was thinking about this last night. Seafoam suggests adding it to the oil as well as fuel. That just seems strange to me, putting something that is apparently flammable into my oil. Has anyone done that, and does it seem to do anything?

Best option is to weld something to it to get a better grip on it. In the welding process, the steel bolt and the aluminum block are at much different temperatures with the small steel bolt getting very hot and the block barely getting hot at all. After allowing it to cool, it will often break free. The best rod I've found to weld out bolts is a 309 stainless. they are designed to weld well to plain carbon steel with very strong weld deposits that are not brittle. If your welding down in a hole, the slag tends to flow to the edges and protect the threads. I've welded out hundreds of bolt since an old welder friend taught me the skills.

I'm picking it up this weekend. I think a carb rebuild, new fuel lines and filter and some tlc will make a nice runner out of it. And a decent 42" side discharge deck to boot. Looks like a good winter project for the kids and I.

Progress update, rear rims have been sandblasted and primed, hope to paint them this weekend. Drained transmission and got clear water and some gear oil. Pulled from frame and put her on the trans stand and it does not look good Looks pretty rough, about 1/2" of crud in the bottom of the trans, 1533's are not turning, they may clean up. A couple of the gears are chipped. Good think I have a complete rebuild trans on the shelf to use. This one may be a parts trans. And last picture everything stripped from the frame. Have to weld a couple cracks in the trans mounting plate. Enjoy
